Guest Reviews
- Richard (8/5): -
- Christina (8/5): Excellent house - We loved the house, excellent furniture and very comfortable. Everything there that we needed. Unfortunately no parking for us nearby
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional - Clean and tidy The outside area was a bit untidy
- Lizzie (1/5): Not a Hidden Gem - The upper part of the house was ok, it is a large clean area, with a comfortable sofa. The large flat-screen TV, was difficult to look at, as it is huge. The beds were clean and comfortable. Location- stated as tranquil but actually on the corner of a very busy main road. Constant heavy traffic, even at night, unbearable noise and fumes. Traffic headlights glare into the bedroom windows, due to ill-fitting blinds, making sleep difficult.
Damp and mouldy, especially downstairs with an overwhelming, pervading musty smell. You have to keep the windows open or the windows run with condensation, and the smell builds up and then all you can hear is loud traffic noise!
It was cold inside the following morning, with a strong musty smell, so we opened all the windows wide and tried to turn the heating on for a bit... it would not work.
Says dog-friendly but the door and windows open directly onto the A381, we had a small puppy and could only open the windows downstairs a couple of inches as she would have escaped and been run over. So unable to ventilate a very damp house properly.
Facilities near the property are poor. It said pub 600m in the original advert. The local pub closed in 2018 and the nearest pubs are only accessible if you drive to them, as no footpaths or walking routes. This was about 5-6 miles. The shop next door closes at 4 pm on a Saturday.
We booked for 2 nights but left after 1, we went home! My friend felt her chest was tightening up and didn't want to cause an increase in her asthma, because of the dampness and mouldy environment. This is not a tranquil, peaceful spot, our experience is very disappointing and we had been looking forward to it.
- Leanne (10/5): Exceptional - Beautifully decorated, modern and clean throughout. Very happy with are stay as a family. The master bed was the biggest bed I have ever seen it was amazing. Kitchen was fully kitted out with everything you could need. There was plenty of preloaded apps on the TV to watch. Will definitely be booking to stay again. The shower head didn't hold in plase, so if the water pressure was on to high the head would fall back and water would come out of the bathroom.
One of the front oven hobs tripped the electric.
The curtain pole the the master bedroom kept coming apart when opening the curtains.
- Hannah (8/5): An enjoyable weekend with very accomodating hosts. - The decor and ambience of the property, especially the bedrooms and all upstairs was superb. The property was spacious and spotlessly clean and had almost everything required for a perfect stay. A little bin and a bathmat in the bathroom would of been useful. Some recycling bins in the kitchen would of been good. Some scented candles or plug ins to mask the damp musty smell in the kitchen and hallway would of been perfect. A fireside chair in the lounge could be useful for when 6 guests are at the property. Sofa was very comfy but would be snug for 6 adults to relax. It was not sit out weather, but the bins and rubbish left on the narrow terrace were unsightly, however I appreciate they need to be stored somewhere until collection. A small covered box would of been ideal. The cottage is on a busy road with a very narrow pavement entrance, didn't bother us but not ideal for young children / pushchairs.
