Guest Reviews
- Tania (10/5): A gorgeous stay at Prospect house. The perfect location for our trip to York. - It accommodated so many of us. The dining table was set up already with plates and bowl place settings. Just a personal preference really, but I don’t really like this. It makes me think the place settings are just gathering dust, so to use them I’d have to wash them first. It also deterred us from using the dining table as there was no space at the table unless we moved all the crockery. This didn’t spoil our stay though.

- Lee (6/5): - House is spacious and with lots of home from home accessories. Beds are comfortable and all round good for a family group. Location is beautiful with the duck pond at the window. Even though the house is equipped with sufficient beds to accommodate at least 4 couples and 3 others (7 double beds) the hot water availability means you have to be conscious of use to hopefully get enough for showers and other hot water requirements in the morning, and at the cost per night the least you would expect is hot water enough to shower for everyone.
Poor routine maintenance, for example, 1st floor banister rail is not safe, security bolts missing parts on external door, damaged furniture.
Kitchen utensils and cookware dirty with previous guests food still present.
Could be a great place if attention to detail was taken.
- Denise (6/5): Fabulous time away with family - Just what was needed to start the New Year with a bang. - The views and location - all excellent.
House keeping and early check in - brilliant
Plenty of space - great
All facilities as described The house was extremally cold, in fact more than cold. Took 2 days to warm the house through. We rang and the house keeper came out to check the heating, but still took 2 days to warm through. Due to this we spent most of the time in the kitchen.
Dirty bin in one of the bathrooms - full of sanitary wear - not ours - very disappointing.
One of the TVs didn't work - housekeeper swapped this over and we had to log in to out Netflix account or no TV to watch.
- Sally (9/5): A perfect luxury house for a large group to stay and just a few miles from York - The house is beautiful. Spacious and comfortable and in a lovely spot just in front of the duck pond. It was the perfect size for our large family group. There was nothing to dislike about the house. The pub in the village has closed down and the garden centre/cafe has limited opening hours so it’s worth taking your own basic supplies.
- Caitrin (10/5): Great property in all respects and are a memorable big birthday weekend! - Great location and just an amazing property. It had everything we needed and we were a big group with a large range! Nothing but some fans may be useful for the summer
- Paula (10/5): Beautiful.specious home on the outskirts of York - A beautiful home, lovingly restored and perfect for us as friends with families to spend some time away together.
Space options were perfect for us. There were 14 of us with the children’s ages ranging from 4-15 and the room configurations suited us well. There was space for all of us to relax during the evenings. A ‘playroom’, lounge and seating in the kitchen.
The gym was a big hit and the kitchen/ dining area was great. We all fitted around the dining table and the space around the island meant cooking was a social occasion. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of glasses, plates etc
The house was clean & tidy, it had character & charm. The beds were comfortable and bathrooms modern.
We were so pleased with our last minute booking and had a wonderful stay. Perhaps the option of an additional bed/ sofa bed for the youngest member of our group to sleep in with his parents would have been useful but the king size bed was plenty big enough. Plastic/ child friendly crockery too maybe. but this wasn’t essential.
The 2 girls in our group found the top double room a little chilly but we just got a blanket from the car.
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nikki (10/5): Highly recommend! - Stunning property, with wonderful host.
- Sheila (9/5): Fantastic property, responsive hosts, a very enjoyable family weekend at Prospect House. - The property was of a very high standard. The kitchen was very well equipped. Ideal for a large family celebration. Slight problem with the heating on the upper floor but the hosts dealt with it very quickly.
- Janine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Becky (10/5): We had an amazing New Year here catching up with friends from far away. The house is Instagram perfect and really comfor - Beautiful house, plenty of room for 3 families. Nothing
