Guest Reviews
- Christine (7/5): Lovely house with many facilities - Perfect location for visiting the coast and holy island Upstairs shower very low pressure but shallow tray caused flooding. Downstairs shower unable to reduce temperature
- Daniel (10/5): -
- Hilary (8/5): For a two night stay it was perfect for us and in a great location for exploring the Northumberland coast. - The house is very roomy and has a beautiful wraparound garden with fabulous views at the back. Lovely big kitchen and spacious bedrooms with comfy beds. The shower pressure could be better and although the baths look amazing they are not very practical. Kitchen drawers and cupboards were over stocked and as a result very messy.
- Jayne (8/5): Lovely short stay in a beautiful location. - The Coach House was very spacious and has a fully enclosed private garden which we didn't use but it would be great in better weather and for kids.
Good washing facilities in the separate utility room.
The location was good for us with a very short walk to the nearby pub which does excellent meals.
We really liked the place; the didn't likes below are meant as constructive feedback & hopefully can be fixed. We would definitely stay here again. There were no oven gloves which we really needed and only 1 tea towel - ok if you don't need to use it as an oven glove maybe.
The pillows were very thin; not an issue for us as we took additional ones from the twin room which we did not use, however, if there had been 6 of us we couldn't have done this so maybe time to upgrade some of the pillows?
It's great that there is a downstairs bedroom, however, the en-suite bathroom is not fully accessible as the shower in there is over a very high claw foot bath (lovely but in-practical for less able users). The less able member of our group opted to sleep upstairs as there was a walk in shower - fortunately she is able to climb stairs but it would have been better if she hadn't had to do this. It may be worth making this clear as some people may book the Coach House thinking the downstairs room is fully accessible. We loved the room though!!
Finally, the water in the showers was extremely hot & in the downstairs shower it would not turn down. Hopefully this is fixable for others.
- Susan (7/5): - The Coach House was beautiful, very spacious, lots of room for a car, lovely surrounding garden, loads of room for storage.
Customer service was very helpful when we had an issue. They kept us updated and tried to find a resolution even though it was later on the evening. Advert for the accommodation was very misleading, I searched Berwick on Tweed and this came up as Beal 0.8 miles from Centre. Which was great as we were going up on the train, we arrived and found out Beal is actually 8 miles from Berwick with a bus every 2 hours and very few taxis, when you've travelled 4 hours on a train and you're carrying heavy back packs, this was not a good surprise.
Whilst the area around the accommodation is beautiful, there is very little there, a pub and a petrol station shop, whilst these were ok for the couple of days we were there, we'd have struggled had we stayed much longer, you really need a car for this place.
When we finally arrived at the accommodation, Housekeeping had not been and there was a massive pile of dirty laundry in the hallway and 2 of the beds had no bedding on them, we rang the hosts but they were unable to get hold of Housekeeping, as it was the evening, they did say if we wanted to purchase some, they would reimburse us but as we had no car and there were no shops nearby, this wasn't an option, they then offered to move us, but after a very long day and with no transport, we really didn't want to start messing about, trying to get somewhere else, so we said we'd make do for that evening and they Housekeeping came the next morning, apologising profusely.
We were unable to close one of the oven doors on the range as the catch had broken, I reported this too and was advised they'd sort it before the next guests arrive.
There was no tea towels or oven gloves, please take your own if going.
We wanted to cook a pizza whilst there and we couldn't find a flat baking tray to cook it on, and the only deep baking tray, we found, was still dirty in the oven.
Both showers in the property were far too hot and we were unable to get them down to an acceptable temperature. It made having a shower quite problematic.

- Sandra (10/5): - Excellent location The Coach House was a fantastic place to stay and had every home from home comforts. There was nothing we didn't like
- Christa (10/5): Fabulous - We loved the space, the light, and comfort of the house. It was so peaceful looking out over the fields watching the sun set. There was absolutely everything we could have wished for. Great cooker. Luxurious sofas. Comfy beds. Endless hot water and efficient heating to warm us up. A perfect location to explore the coastal towns and isles of Northumberland. The photo on google maps was misleading as it shows a picture of the house on the corner. A friendly neighbour pointed us in the right direction. 3rd entrance on the left!
- Richard (9/5): Very nice stay on the road to Holy Island - Very good location just off the A1 and on the road to Holy Island. Really nice, well-kept house with good facilities, nice garden, off-road parking for at least 1 car and plenty of space. Very few complaints - a few of the plates and glasses were a bit dirty and the cleaning under the sofas and chairs could have been better.
- Tracy (8/5): Beautiful home in a great location! - It’s a lovely spacious property with a big garden that’s perfect for children to play. Beautiful views from the sitting room and it’s a great location for Holy Island and Bamburgh castle. The rooms are big and there is a great selection of games for the kids! Although it was clean, I did feel as though there were some areas that could have been a little cleaner. Not a huge issue though!
- Ian (8/5): Very good -
- Deborah (8/5): A bright, comfortable house; perfectly located for visits to Holy Island, Alnwick and Bamburgh. - The location was excellent, and very quiet even though it was close to the A1 The previous tenants had left a full bin of rubbish and glass bottles on the ground, so we had difficulty getting our own bin bag into the wheelie bin. The house could have been better supplied with toilet paper and hand soap - both ran out while we were there.
- Sally (8/5): Very good -
- Mehdi (8/5): Very good -
- Jones (9/5): Absolutely fabulous, would gladly stay again, thank you:-) - All the facilities needed for a home from home, modern with beautiful decor, great location near road, but peaceful, close to corner garage fuel station. Property was very spaceous - almost 100% perfect This stay was almost 100% perfect however some minor areas for improvement would be some pans needed cleaning before use, same for some cutlery/crocery; no fuel/fire starting kit was left for the log burning stove in the basket, but soon popped to the garage a few 100 metres away, to get some.
- Thomas (9/5): Superb -
- Siobhan (9/5): Great house - Great house Hard to find, need to provide proper directions
- Janet (9/5): Heavenly.. x - It was just the right spot for our visit to the Holy Isle... Just a small point... I am just remembering.. The heating came on even though it was hot outside.. It did not detract from our stay.
- Cheryl (10/5): Location was perfect. Cottage was perfect for a family. - Location was perfect. We were just sorry we had to cut out stay by a day. The cottage had everything we needed. N/a
- Joe (9/5): Lovely house, great location. - The house is absolutely beautiful, way bigger than it looks from the outside and decorated perfectly to our taste. Exceptionally clean and had pretty much all facilities we required. This is one of the best located houses you could want. It was within short driving distance of everything we had planned. The only drawback we had was that the grass had not been cut for some time and was somewhat overgrown. Not ridiculously long, but long enough that because it was wet it was completely unusable for the kids to play on which they were disappointed about.
- Jacqueline (8/5): It was a comfortable stay. - This place is well located for exploring the area. Beds were very comfortable, kitchen well stocked with appliance and utensils. Lovely clean bathrooms. Good towels and bed linen. We couldn't find any logs or matches/lighter for the wood burner. So had to go out to the local garage to find these.
