Guest Reviews
- Michelle (10/5): - The house was lovely and just what we wanted to celebrate my hen weekend. There wasn't anything to not like.
- Gemma (9/5): - The land is beautiful and the house is stunning. Was lovely to see the animals right by the house The shower pressure was really slow. There was only 2 bathrooms and we had 12 of us but it does fit 17 aswell so was quite difficult having that many people with 2 bathrooms.
And was only 3 mirrors in the property which two was in the bathroom so if you have big groups having showers and getting ready then there’s only 1 mirror available.
- Louis (10/5): -
- Nikki (10/5): 2025 stay - The setting of the house is beautiful It was perfect
- Michael (10/5): -
- Joel (9/5): Superb -
- Simon (9/5): Superb -
- Daniel (7/5): Expensive at £500 a night for staying in someone’s back garden behind their main property - We liked the hot tub, views and animals We should have probably done a bit more research on the property. It is in fact a converted pool house in someone’s back garden. We booked this place as it looked like a stand alone property. This may not be an issue for most people but we do not like feeling like we are encroaching on someone else’s house.
- Courtney (10/5): Beautiful scenic stay for besties hen do❤️ - It was beautiful
Absolutely spotless
The hot tub!
Had everything we needed
The animals! Alpacas, sheep, lambs and chickens Tricky to find the drive to the cottage- could have a bigger sign at the end of the drive
- Luke (9/5): Lovely house, Lovely location, Lovely space, Lovely experience. - Location, house, bedrooms, space Hot tub worked the 1st night but not the 2nd unfortunately
- Samantha (10/5): Exceptional - The location was perfect, nice an peaceful, the hot tub was easy to use, easy access on arrival, overlooking a field with alpacas an sheep, an some friendly chickens that came to say hello a few times. Lovely an quiet night away. The host were easy to communicate with before arrival
- Gail (10/5): Perfect stay with friends in a beautiful setting - Beautiful setting, very spacious and loved the animals It’s a shame the hot tub wasn’t undercover
- Linda (7/5): Disappointing- this was a 70th Birthday celebration for our friend and we expected more. - The location was brilliant. We loved the size of the property. There was plenty of room in the open planned living area and the outdoor social space was lovely overlooking miles of countryside. We especially loved the three alpacas in the garden grazing with the sheep and chickens. We had to call the host three times as our sat navs couldn’t pin point exactly where the property was as it was off a main road with electric gates in front and we couldn’t see ANY signs stating Hillside House from the road. It was a relatively fast road which made it difficult for us to go slow. If I was the host I would have stood at the entrance showing us exactly where the property was thus us not having to repeat the same journey four times over! When we got to the electric gates we had to ring the bell as we had no numbers for the Keysafe either.
Our host did not introduce himself just shouted out the key safe number enabling our two cars to enter into the property parking area. We never met him again at any point during our stay. Their house was in front of our converted barn so was accessible for us should we have any problems to report.
However, we did meet his supposed wife when we asked if she could present us with 4 more Prosecco glasses. A house for 8 should surely be equipped for 8 of everything? We spoke to her through a window, she didn’t open the door for us, and were given 4 more glasses but they were wine glasses. The tableware consisted of all different designs (oddments) and three of the bowls which we took out of the cupboard were caked in food.
The towels which were included in the price had seen better days. Again all oddsments.
The garden furniture was only equipped for 4 people and no spares anywhere else so we had to pull out 4 of the dining room chairs to accommodate us all.
All in all I feel the price we paid (£600.50 including my discount as a valued customer) for a one night stay was very overpriced taking all our problems into consideration. Maybe a gesture of goodwill will suffice.
