Guest Reviews
- SIYU (7/5): - Good facilities and environment. 30min driving time to the beach (Jurassic Coast), and supermarket. The cottage is advertised as dog-friendly, but we’re asked not to allow our small dog on the sofa and to keep the bedroom door closed, even though our dog never on the bed, which felt unnecessary and uncomfortable.
We’re also asked to sort all bedding (sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, towels etc) by category and whether they had been used, which felt more detailed than usual.
the duck egg price on the window (£2.40) did not match what we’re charged (£2.80).
Overall, a pleasant stay, but clearer and more consistent communication would improve the experience.
- Diana (9/5): We truly enjoy our stay at the Shippen - We loved our stay at the Shippen. Lovely and well equipped house and welcoming host. Lots of things to visit around, and had a great time in the game room on rainy days!
- Henley (10/5): Would stay here again in the future - Excellent little place in a really quite setting pleasant and sunning little place Absolutely nothing to say here
- Gillian (10/5): Wonderful, relaxing stay in a very comfortable property with beautiful views. - Beautiful, large, but cosy. Well equipped kitchen, everything you could need. Very comfortable too. Nothing.
- Martin (8/5): A relaxing spring break - Beautiful view from the lounge.
Very rural atmosphere.
The friendly hosts left a few welcoming items (eggs, some cake, milk and tea) to start your stay. The hosts also sell some farm produce - I recommend the sausages!
Visits from the farms guinea fowl and the duck on the pond.
Very well equipped accommodation. Bathroom steamed up easily and was slow to clear.
You need to bring some toilet roll as only 1 roll is supplied at the start of your stay!
- Andy (9/5): Superb - Quite rural retreat. Clean & spacious. 2nd bedroom was a little drafty through the external door.
- Lee (10/5): Great location, great hosts, really friendly, plenty to do for the children - Games room, log fire
- Naomi (9/5): A beautiful, well equipt cottage - We were greeted with some homemade cake, apple juice they make and fresh eggs. They also left milk in the fridge so i could have a cup of tea when i got there.
The games room was also very popular with my daughter. It had loads of dvds, books and board games as well as table tennis and pool The location was a little bit too far off the beaten track for our liking but others would probably prefer that.
The fridge was too cold and froze everything we brought and our front door key didn't lock the door properly so i didn't feel safe at night. We had to use the glass door when we went out for the day.
I also dont like having to strip the beds when leaving. Going home is depressing enough after being on holiday.
- Anonymous (10/5): A great week and our third visit - A lovely property with plenty of outside space. Our children love seeing all the different animals that Simon and Sue own
