Guest Reviews
- Philippa (7/5): Lovely location, warm cottage. However, needs to be cleaner with more information and things to support use of wood burn - We loved the location which offered great walks straight from the door, black night skies and so quiet.
The cottage was really warm and plenty of hot water. Large parking and garden area. Close to good amenities e.g. Sidmouth, coast, Donkey Sanctuary. Although the bedroom and en-suite was clean and fresh, the kitchen and living area was a bit tired and not as clean as I would expect. No cleaning had been done behind things on kitchen tops and behind furniture etc. There were dead flies and wasps on carpet and on kitchen tops.
It was lovely to have a wood burner which we used every day, but I had to hunt the cottage for fire lighters and matches. Also there were no instructions on how to use the burner (thankfully I’d used one before). There was only enough wood for 2 evenings with no mention of where more wood could be found or purchased. Also, no paper to light or safety gloves - I had to use one of own tea towels as I burnt my hand twice. No instructions re where the bins were located which we only found behind the shed half way through the week.
- Catherine (10/5): Cosy warm scenic views - Wonderful location and perfect size for us. Warm and cosy and beautiful setting.
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional - Very warm , clean and had every thing you need. Very comfortable beds , great showers
- Hannah (7/5): Good - The facilities were really lovely.
It didn't bother us, but it is worth mentioning that if you don't like little driving little lanes, this isn't really the property for you.
Directions were spot on, and so was Google Maps.
There is also no fenced-in garden, so if you have a dog, you will need to walk it on a lead.
We had a massive problem with dead flies every day in the living room/kitchen that was a bit annoying, but put it down to just being in the country.
We stripped the beds before we left to be helpful, we wish we hadn't because the pillow and mattress protectors were disgusting and definitely hadn't been washed recently.
It was a lovely place to stay though, and suited us for what we needed, but we wouldn't return...just personal preference.
- Lynda (10/5): - Really lovely place, would highly recommend.
- Mohinder (10/5): Superb. Middle of nowhere, very peaceful stay. - The accommodation was excellent. Clean, airy, well equipped kitchen. very comfortable beds. Bonus having an ensuite to each bedroom. The only issue we had was the washing machine programme for a quick wash was not quite that; handbook suggested the programme was 30min at 30 degree, the wash actually took well over an hour (not sure how ling as we had to leave it running) and temperature must have been high as it ruined some of the items :(
- William (10/5): Exceptional -
