Guest Reviews
- kendrab594 (10/5): luxury in the city - beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of the city. naomi was wonderful & speaks good english. the breakfasts were phenomenal. chef luna is awesome!
- F9297ELpilarm (10/5): Casa Carmen the most amazing stay in Oaxaca! - Casa Carmen is the most recomendable stay in Oaxaca. The house is an art museum run by th most incredibly kind and welcoming staff. It was the perfect home away from home. We did not want to leave. I can’t wait to come back to Oaxaca and stay at Casa Carmen again!
- James (9/5): Cozy, intimate, chic, off the beaten path gem. - Cozy and intimate. The decor is stunning and the rooms modern, chic and comfortable. The courtyard is a great place to hang out. Breakfast on the one day we could partake was imaginative, well prepared and filling. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is a little off the Zocalo area, but nothing was long to walk to. Finding the casa was challenging as there is no signage, and the only way to enter is to ring the bell. Some additional amenities on the roof top area would be nice. Would like to see the two other properties in the group.

- Debra (9/5): We loved every minute of our stay at this fabulous hotel - Stunning building - gorgeous large bedroom, beautiful open courtyards. Great art. People who worked there were lovely and so helpful. Amazing breakfast. Tranquil atmosphere. The room was advertised as having a terrace but in reality the (gorgeous) outdoor spaces were shared. But actually the hotel has only four rooms so they were very quiet - we sat outside a lot.
- Steven (10/5): Will recommend - Breakfast great and staff is superb.
- K2280GBmichelles (10/5): A Oaxaca treasure - An absolute treasure ! The hotel is an experience in itself! The staff is warm friendly and helpful and feels like your in an artists vision . Naomi is a delight !
- josiahv689 (10/5): Beautiful Boutique Stay with Romantic Touches - Spending Valentine’s weekend at Casa Carmen Morelos was incredibly romantic and memorable. The hotel is beautiful inside, with intimate design details — we especially loved the dragon fruit plant climbing the courtyard wall. The staff was super accommodating and made the stay feel personal, and we loved the Valentine’s Day flower arrangement they placed in our room. Breakfast each morning was delicious and beautifully presented, and our room was cozy and well provisioned. The bathroom, with a planter built into the shower, created a serene, spa-like feel that made our stay feel extra special.
- Amer_K_215 (10/5): A lovely hotel with outstanding service. - Casa Carmen Morelos provided an exceptional stay. The room and courtyard exuded tranquility and were tastefully decorated. The service and breakfast were impeccable, rivaling the offerings of a five-star resort like the Ritz or Four Seasons. The staff went above and beyond to cater to our every need, ensuring a truly memorable experience. There are 4 rooms. I would request the aromas or the amor as the other two are adjacent to the street and traffic may cause noise. The location is excellent, close to everything in the city center. There is a beautiful church with cafes across the street. There is an adorable, local, small market one and a half blocks down the street. I highly recommend Casa Carmen Morelos for anyone seeking a luxurious and comfortable getaway.
- Robyn (10/5): Gorgeous little hotel with fabulous employees that’s convenient to the things you wanna see - It was a truly unique property! The art everywhere was so beautiful! The employees were next level and someone was always there to answer any questions or to give you tips about the city! The breakfast is a 10! The room we stayed in didn’t have a window to the outside which I thought was odd but it ended up being great because we didn’t hear the street noise.
- RachelD595 (10/5): Amazing Oaxaca & Carmen Morelos House - The most wonderful experience in Oaxaca, amazing accommodation, so tranquil and beautiful. The most amazing and attentive staff & fantastic breakfasts. Can't wait to come again.
- Steven (10/5): Did not want to leave. - Beautifully prepared and delicious. There was nothing we didn’t like.
- Deepak (9/5): Beautiful boutique hotel with everything you’d need. - Great boutique hotel in the centre. Rooms was lovely and staff were very friendly and helpful. Close enough to all of the main restaurants, places to visit without being right in the middle. Good local coffee shops/bakeries close by too. Not much, great place to stay whilst we were in Oaxaca
- Kilian (9/5): - Top notch, everything is great here
- Dimitrios (10/5): Do not miss this gem - Everything was perfect. The stuff was amazing. The rooms perfect traditional and modern with artistic touches. The breakfast is also a highlight made on the spot directly for you. Would recommend and hope to get back to this gem! Absolutely nothing
- Frederik (8/5): -
- Tanzira (10/5): I will definitely stay here on a return trip! - Great design throughout: featured a lot of modern art but with thoughtful integration of Oaxacan textiles and pottery. Delicious breakfasts each day with plenty of variety, which is nice if staying for many days. The staff were helpful and kind.
The outdoor courtyard spaces for breakfast or otherwise hanging out were lovely. Room was right on a main street , so had to be cognizant when the window shutters were open. It could be a bit noisy a the start of the night (lots of festivities in Oaxaca), but noise never prevented me from falling out staying asleep.
- 327miriamw (10/5): A great place to stay in Oaxaca - Great location easy to walk to everything. Wonderful atmosphere with very helpful staff. Shout out to Naomi and Kenya. The rooms are clean and filled with wonderful artwork. The breakfasts are great.
- Amanda (10/5): Truly wonderful hotel - would love to visit again - This wonderful small hotel is totally exceptional. The location is just close enough to the edge of town to feel very safe and to walk in easily. Nothing is too much trouble for the lovely staff who were so willing to help with everything. Breakfasts were truly amazing- the best we’ve had in Mexico and it was all exceptionally clean. We left at 3am for the airport and staff were up and helpful and even provided us with a packed breakfast for 5 of us. The only thing to be aware of is that there is road noise but Oaxaca is a very busy town so you are likely to get that wherever you stay.
- cauthens2015 (10/5): Perfect stay - Beautiful hotel in the perfect location to explore oaxaca. Naomi was the perfect host with lots of amazing recommendations. The atmosphere of the hotel and rooms were peaceful and beautifully laid out.
- maxeC1974DW (10/5): A quality boutique hotel - Very hospitable, great location with minimal noise, delicious breakfast and very good air conditioning in room. The WiFi was also very fast and they have great televisions.
- sarah (10/5): beautiful small boutique hotel in the historic centre of oaxaca. - casa carmen morelos is a beautiful, boutique hotel on the outskirts of Oaxacas historic centre. it is small with only 4 rooms. the attention to detail at the hotel was exceptional. we had a room that fitted the three of us perfectly. the staff/management are amazing and the breakfast, superb. we absolutely loved our 5 nights there, highly rate it. nothing.
- Michelle (10/5): Truly an exceptional stay. We will never stay anywhere else in Oaxaca - Design Street noise
- fabiene (9/5): Really worth it! - Almost perfect!! The staff was amazing, food really good The room was amazing, but no window in it.
Little bit noisy in the night
- bryanlY9062GH (10/5): A Calming, Contemporary Stay with Exceptional Service - Casa Carmen Morelos is a beautifully designed, contemporary hotel with a calming, nature-inspired atmosphere throughout the property. The service was exceptional from start to finish, and the daily breakfast was a standout—especially the chilaquiles, which were some of the best I’ve had. Overall, a relaxing, stylish stay with warm hospitality. Highly recommend.
- 919sarahi (10/5): 5 night stay an exceptional experience. - Excellent location, staff, breakfast and over all experience. Our family of three stayed 5 nights in the Comiendo Amor Room and the space was beautiful, fully equipped and the attention to detail is exceptional.
- Paula (10/5): - Sehr schöne Einrichtung, unglaublich zuvorkommendes und freundliches Personal Schlecht isoliert, ringhörig
- Pei-Hsuan (8/5): -
- beth (10/5): Casa Carmen Morelos as magical as Oaxaca..... - Truly an amazing space.....the staff....the art....the food....I can not say I would change a thing.....
- David (10/5): Our 9 day Oaxacan vacation, and staying at Casa Carmen Morelos was one of the best experiences ever! - The staff was phenomenal. Breakfast every morning was very substantial. The attention to detail is the best. Cleanliness is a priority at this hotel. There are only 4 rooms here and "Comiendo Amor" is, by far, the very best. Arranging taxis & tours was seamless, Extremely safe and secure! There was not a single thing lacking at this hotel. Absolutely the best!!
- Sean (10/5): Perfect art retreat - The most beautiful place with attention to details, the aromas and soap/gels were very good, and the art and room design is amazing. Common breakfast area with great menu. None
- Dorn (10/5): - The breakfast was delicious, the staff was friendly and helpful, the room was beautfiul and comfortable, and the location was very central. I loved everything about Casa Carmen Morelos.
- Thibaut (10/5): -
- Arthur (10/5): Wonderful and quiet place! - Absolutely beautiful place, decorated with a lot of taste.
Staff working there are also lovely.
Breakfast in the morning was delicious! Staying only one night :)
- Karen (10/5): Highly recommend casa Carmen we had a great time - Everything was perfect and just loved all the art Nothing
- Elizabeth (9/5): A definite win in Oaxaca - The breakfast was good, the staff were very sweet. The b&b is a quiet oasis with an artsy vibe and very comfy bed. We stayed in the back room that felt like we had our own private livingroom right outside our door. Close walking to all without being in the center of constant activity A local artist owns this property and another in the city. The place is decorated with his art, down to the dishes! We visited the other b&b which was gorgeous, and a bit more upscale but the staff there does not speak English which would have been a challenge for us. Also internet excellent. Had a little trouble regulating the aircondonditioning, which could have been user error.
- Meera (10/5): - We were soo happy to have picked this place! It was quaint, personable and in a perfect location! The breakfast was delicious! Made with thought and care. We stayed in the back room which seemed to be quieter but had the opportunity to view the other front rooms which were just as beautiful but on a busy street! just bring ear plugs;) We loved the staff and will recommend it!
Parfait.
- Britta (10/5): Einfach super, danke!! - Sehr schönes Design, sehr nettes Personal, feines Frühstück. Rundum wirklich prima :) Nichts
- Kevin (10/5): A beautiful guesthouse with a boutique feel in a great location. Highly recommended. - Beautiful property, very tasteful decor, spacious room and brilliant artwork. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and the breakfast was delicious. Felt like a boutique hotel. Having to ring the bell to enter the property was a little annoying. Would be nice if your room key worked for the main door. But with 24 hour concierge, it’s a small issue.
- Susan (10/5): I highly recommend this lodging. - The breakfast menu was amazing. Everyday I ordered a green juice, latte, and Americano coffee plus one of their several delicious entrees. When we came in from a day of sightseeing, we would be offered a drink, which was always a natural juice or water. Our room was cleaned daily and absolutely immaculate. The staff was the most friendly and helpful staff I have ever encountered. The facilities are artful and peaceful. Have Noemi tell you the story behind the casa and the artist who owns it. Casa Carmen Morelos is close to the Zocalo or city square, but far enough away to not feel noisy. There are many lovely shops and restaurants within a 10 minute walk. I have nothing negative to say about Casa Carmen Morales. It is small and intimate.
Altamente recomendable.
- Tina (10/5): A stylish haven complete with privacy and security. - Casa Carmen is like your cool friends left you the keys to their beautiful villa to enjoy. Except if even a thought enters your mind about breakfast or extra towels someone lovely appears to assist. A discreet room at the front of the property means there’s someone on site 24/7. It was a beautiful haven to return to after a day of exploring. Gorgeous beds in huge rooms, our oversized en suite had a dramatic skylight with plants. It was a beautiful haven to stay- we loved it! Our room was in the front and the traffic noise interrupted the peace. Hot water was sometimes a little patchy.
- Francisco (10/5): Oaxaca art and culture experience - Beautiful place to rest after long days exploring the city, relax and quiet, art all around the house make you feel the scene of Oaxaca contemporary art
- Adones (10/5): Exceptional -
- missvusf (10/5): Design, Warmth, and Tranquility in Oaxaca - I’ve stayed at many places in Oaxaca, and this boutique hotel truly stands out. The design is stunning—elegant, calming, and beautifully curated. The service was genuinely five-star, with warm, attentive staff who made me feel right at home. It was one of the most relaxing stays I’ve had—an absolute gem I can’t recommend enough.
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yvonne (10/5): Exceptional - There was nothing to not like. Perfectly stylish. Fabulous employees. Three blocks from everything.
- Adam (9/5): An incredible oasis home base for our Oaxaca adventure - Incredible stay right in the heart of Oaxaca; nicest staff to help us with anything we needed! Nothing
- parmedev (10/5): Lovely hotel with spacious room, helpful staff close to the city center - Very cute accommodations. Rooms are spacious. We stay in one with a terrace. Breakfast is served to you either in the lobby or in your room on the terrace. It was delicious. The location is close to the town center. Highly recommend this place.
- Azevedo (5/5): We had a great time exploring Oaxaca from the base of our hotel but I would not go back to this location due to the low - The location and the staff were excellent. Our room didn’t have cellular connection and the WiFi was completely unreliable. It was challenging for us to do our work remotely. For this reason alone I would not go back or recommend the property. Also, the toilet was consistently not flushing properly and it definitely needs to be fixed or replaced. Lastly, there was a worm in my oatmeal which I reported to the staff working.
- Tracy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marnell (8/5): Stunning design hotel in beautiful Oaxaca - Beautiful boutique hotel - classy design that really uplifts your experience.
Delicious breakfasts and wonderfully attentive and helpful staff. They helped us book a tour (an incredible private tour) and taxis while we were there.
Really handy location for walking and exploring what beautiful Oaxaca has to offer. Only issue we had is our room was close to the road which is quite busy. If the car noise bothers you I’d request a room not on the road. We managed ok though and slept well.
- Phil22091991 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Godina (10/5): Wonderful stay - Quiet sanctuary. Lovely room. Excellent breakfast by Norma. Staff so helpful and responsive Noemi and Vianey. Location excellent . Nothing
- Dina (9/5): Superb -
- KevinEastSussex (6/5): Premium paid does not provide value for money nor a restful stay - It has a central location and is nicely appointed with some nice art in the room. The room and bathroom were a good size. But, it’s on a main room so the room is noisy and you cannot open the window to let in light because of the noise and the traffic pollution. This will never change and the suggestion for ear plugs from the hotel doesn’t address the issue! Noise is also heard in the courtyard. Limited response to staff if queries were raised: staff did not seem to be very pro active. No real service in terms of drinks outside of breakfast time. Full breakfast service only available at 8am so if you have tours booked you get a limited offer from 7.30. They also need to make explicit that 1 dish only from the menu can be ordered (either a savoury or a sweet but not both!) rather than say ingredients aren’t available.
- Kevin (7/5): Below par and not worth the premium paid. - Good location and nicely appointed. It’s on a main room so the room is noisy and you cannot open the window to let in light because of the noise and the traffic pollution. This will never change and the suggestion for ear plugs from the hotel doesn’t address the issue! Noise is also heard in the courtyard. Limited response to staff if queries were raised. Full breakfast service only available at 8am so if you have tours booked you get a limited offer from 7.30. They also need to make explicit that 1 dish only from the menu can be ordered rather than say ingredients aren’t available!
- Courtney (10/5): Sad that our time in Oaxaca and at Casa Carmen went by too quickly. - I stayed here with my friend for my 40th birthday. What a dream it was to stay here! Entrance was slightly difficult to find, but once discovered it was a beautiful artistic haven bringing calmness amongst such a vibrant city. Naomi and all the staff bring such care to the guests, and such thoughtful, intentional touches to the property and your stay, you will be sad to leave. The wonderful chef (I believe her name is Fer) prepared us delicious breakfasts.
There’s only 4 rooms so we were lucky to get a room. The whole property feels so purposely designed with small unique fixtures everywhere and seamlessly blended art and sculptures around the property. Even the plates at breakfast were gorgeous. If I could run my dream hotel, it would be Casa Carmen. We stayed in the Esperandote Hoy room which faces Av Jose Maria Morelos. It can be a bit busy and loud with motorcycles and trucks going by on the street especially in the morning. The balconies have 2 layers of doors, so the room gets blackout dark and the car noise wasn’t a problem for us because we overslept by a few hours anyway. I don’t think the other rooms will have that problem (maybe the one other room facing the street).
- Sally (10/5): Very good experience! - All the staff were so helpful and if one didn’t understand English, they would use an app. They arranged restaurants and drivers/guides to different sites The rooms on the street were very noisy (our friends got one and moved rooms). Only 4 rooms in the entire hotel
- William (10/5): We had a wonderful stay here while in Oaxaca! - A wonderful boutique hotel in a great location. Breakfast was exceptional! Needs to finish terrace upstairs.
- William (10/5): Made for a very memorable stay in Oaxaca. - A wonderful boutique hotel in great location. Breakfast was exceptional! Would love if there was a better upstairs terrace.
- Julia (9/5): Superb - the hotel is beautiful - its a house turned into a boutique hotel, only a couple of rooms. the room was large and very comfortable. Breakfast was lovely - a shared table and a small manu to order from. The food was great, and the service was so nice. I totally recommend it! we run out of hot water a couple of times - unsure if it was a glitch or some bigger issue.
- Beste (9/5): All in all a happy stay - It was well designed, had a spacious room (deluxe suit), had a comfortable bed, also had a good breakfast. The location was also nice. I wish you could order drinks during the day
- Karen (8/5): Relaxing, welcoming oasis in a wonderful town - It was a little oasis in a busy town. We loved stepping through the door into the calm courtyard. The rooms all around the central courtyard were lovely. All the artwork and relaxing corners were so inviting We loved everything about it…no negatives!
- erenerbeste (10/5): All in all a happy stay - It is a lovely hotel. Its design is also very nice. We stayed in a Deluxe Suite, it was very spacious and comfortable, especially we loved the bathroom. The bed and the pillows were comfortable. The breakfast was also nice with a lot of options. The location was good, only 10min walking to the center. I recommend this hotel.
- Kathy (9/5): Charming, artsy, small boutique hotel, well located, with spacious rooms and a lovely staff. - Breakfast was very elaborate with many choices, beautifully presented, and delicious. The staff were sweet and helpful.
- Peter (10/5): Outstanding boutique hotel with incredible caring staff. - Breakfast was outstanding with lots of variety. Lots of healthy options. Also met some really nice guests and had good conversations over breakfast with the communal dining table.
Art in the rooms was a nice touch of sophistication.
Most importantly, the staff were attentive, kind are willing to help in many ways.
Felt very safe. Nothing but perhaps let guests know in advance when there will be interruptions such as staff coming in late at night to refill water well.
- D1215MMkathyg (10/5): Casa Carmen Morelos - Charming, artsy, lovely little hotel with the sweetest staff and wonderful breakfast. Good location too! Extremely clean and comfortable. Rooms are spacious and the bathroom has all the comforts of home- hair dryer- shower cap- high end toiletries.
- sarakQ9127XC (10/5): Casa Carmen boutique hotel - Casa Carmen is a stunning boutique hotel in the heart of Oaxaca. The design is elegant and thoughtfully curated, blending traditional Oaxacan charm with tasteful, modern touches. Every space feels warm and inviting, creating a perfect retreat after a day of exploring.
The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful, always ready with great recommendations and assistance. Breakfast is a true highlight—fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The location is perfect, within walking distance of Oaxaca’s main sights, markets, and restaurants. Casa Carmen is a perfect place to stay for an unforgettable experience in Oaxaca!
- Julia (10/5): Exceptional -
- W7667KYsaraht (10/5): Stunning Property - Gorgeous property and comfortable rooms. If you appreciate beautiful architecture and artistry you will love Casa Carmen Morelos. All of the staff is so welcoming and friendly. We stayed for two nights and didn’t want to leave. Our future plans to return to Oaxaca will be based on availability to stay here.
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Jammy (7/5): Top hotel, but very noisy - IMHO, this room rivals those in five-star hotels. It’s spacious, thoughtfully designed, and tastefully decorated with beautiful artwork. The latex mattress felt expensive and incredibly comfortable ( firm yet supportive ) ,though the pillows could be improved.
The bathroom was my favorite part. It was large and well lit. It also features an enormous mirror that somehow makes you look better than you actually are —I need one of these at home! The high-end amenities, like Molton Brown, were a delightful touch. Plus, the powerful hairdryer (a rare find!) and well-functioning AC made the stay even more enjoyable.
The Staff – 10/10:
Exceptionally friendly and helpful. The hotel sits on one of the busiest roads in Oaxaca, with constant traffic noise. What makes it worse is the uphill incline—meaning every passing car and, worst of all, motorbike revs its engine. The noise and air pollution were overwhelming, lasting from 7 AM to 1 AM. Walking to the city center, I inhaled too much exhaust.
However, my partner is a deep sleeper and the noise didnt have the slightest effect on her.
- Armstrong (10/5): Amazing elegant small hotel! Will be back! - This amazing oasis was beautiful, simple, and elegant. The breakfast was amazing and the staff couldn’t be more charming. Lovely stay!
- K8111ZNscottr (10/5): A wonderful option for lodging in Oaxaca. - We enjoyed wonderful accommodations. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to help in any way possible. The morning breakfast option are vast and the food is very good. The outdoor common spaces are well appointed. We would highly recommended staying here.
- bernardob240 (10/5): Best in class experience - We’ve stayed at Xolots branch. Excellent place with unmatched staff. You can’t think of a hotel experience better than this. Great location, beautiful, luminous and roomy suites. You’d get delicious breakfast cooked in front of your eyes.
- Ada (2/5): Got cancelled - When we arrived the room we had booked two months ago suddenly no longer was available. Allegedly because the bathroom was out of function. They provided us with a new hotel and a taxi, but we were really dissapointed, eapwcially because we were not warned in advance and we had travelled for 12 hours only to find out, we no longer had a booking.
- SKayKay (10/5): Stylized boutique hotel - Small artsy boutique hotel. Very peaceful just off the center of everything. Highend architectural styling, art and decor. Comfortable beds, super super clean and fabulous custom breakfast. The staff are super attentive, helpful and kind.

- haneefabaltimore (10/5): Wonderful experience - Exquisitely designed space, very intimate, and the staff were so welcoming and helpful. The intimate setting made it easy to interact with other guests. It was like staying in a beautiful art gallery. The included breakfast was delicious and the location perfect. We stayed for three nights but wish we could have stayed longer. We highly recommend the Comiendo Amor suite, which is a little more private than the other three suites. Overall, we had a lovely stay!
- I8960MAdianea (10/5): Calm beauty for work or relaxation - What a relaxing, quiet, beautiful experience! Our stay was perfect and the staff was so hospitable. We didn’t want to leave. The artwork and sculptures in the outdoor common area was a calming force, and I found it very conducive to work and rest.

- garycX9372EC (10/5): Excellent week stay. - The hotel decor with the art of Maestro Amador Montes is a real pleasure to the eyes, is like staying in a living art gallery. The decor and layout of the art is very tasteful. Hotel breakfast has excellent healthy choices, very well prepared, you feel at home. Loved the Molton Brown choice of toiletries, a real treat. Friendly staff and very accommodating on your requests.

- Wanderer19832475009 (10/5): Love Love Love - Easily one of the best hotel experiences my wife and I have had during our 31 day extrusions across the beautiful country of Mexico. The service amazing. The room beautiful. And the amenities are to die for. 10 out of 10 would recommend. We will absolutely be back!

- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely property, each of the rooms is large, comfortable, and stylish. Great and friendly staff. Breakfast is delicious and served in the charming courtyard. Bathroom was stunning and spacious. Only critique is that the 2 rooms facing the street are quite loud - there was some contruction and traffic on the street - could use some soundproofing for those two rooms. Or bring earplugs.
