Guest Reviews
- Laura (10/5): -
- Susan (8/5): - Leaking shower hose, did message host with no response.
- Malaika (10/5): A peaceful and relaxing retreat surrounded by breathtaking countryside. - “We loved the property for its serene rural location in Yorkshire, surrounded by beautiful open farmland that offers stunning scenery. The cosy, relaxing feel of the cottage created a welcoming atmosphere, and the thoughtful layout made it both charming and functional. It felt like the perfect escape, blending comfort with the beauty of nature.” There is nothing we did not like about the property.
- Mrs (6/5): Lovely traditional bolthole - The location was perfect for us as we were visiting family. It was a lovely traditional cottage, full of character, beautiful views with sheep and horses along with a babbling stream at the back of the property. Joanna, the lady I was communicating with via email, prior to arriving was very warm and friendly. We requested to arrive earlier than check in and this was no trouble at all. There was milk and biscuits waiting for us on arrival and fresh flowers too which was a lovely surprise. We had a problem with the heating on the evening we arrived but felt it was too late to bother Anne and Stuart (these were the people to contact if there were any issues) so I text them on Saturday morning and then tried calling them later in the afternoon as I'd had no response. I couldn't get any answer when calling and then sent Joanna an email which luckily and thankfully, she responded to even though it was late on Friday afternoon, and promptly sorted it out for us. This was very much appreciated. The microwave had quite a lot of rust on the inside of the door and we therefore couldn't and didn't use it for that reason as felt it was unsafe. Some of the kitchen equipment was damaged (spatula was melted, lid missing on breadbin,) which made them unusable. Frying pan was dented and had seen better days.
Shower curtain had a hole in it and bath was badly stained. Bathroom feels very tired.
We couldn't resolve the issue with the heating ourselves as there was no instruction/guide left which would have indicated this as we had then presumed it was on a timer as there was no thermostat/control in the cottage. Although this was sorted very swiftly by providing us with the portable control panel, due to it being autumn/winter months, we'd have expected this to be available without having to contact the host.
A light at the front of the property would be very beneficial as the lane gets very dark and has a constant stream of cars using it, lots of which were at speed during the evening/night.
The above are by no means a complaint as we'd definitely stay there again, they are just a true reflection of what we found in the cottage and constructive feeback for what would make it perfect for the future.

- Sue (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (10/5): perfect place to stay in a lovely location - stunning old cottage, plenty of room for our small family, has everything you need in a stunning location. local village has a shop if you need anything and the Turkey Inn pub is a small stroll down the road for some good food and pints. parking is a bit tight but other than that not a single complaint!
- Richard (10/5): we had a Christmas break at this cottage and it was absolutely perfect - everything was perfect. a really lovely place
- Mark (9/5): Superb - Comfortable and welll equipped. Good to have parking. Liked the log burner. Could do with blackout blinds or curtains in the bedrooms .
- Keith (8/5): fabulous, would book again , no quibbles - Genuinely homely and comfortable The bath and electric shower but knowing how the water system is there, I understand why it’s fitted
- Ian (7/5): Some issues can’t be fixed (‘rat run’, stairs, parking) but with other issues remedied I’d recommend the property for th - Comfortable, spacious, well equipped. Rear patio area very good in afternoon sunshine. Friendly owner and neighbours. Countryside position with lovely rear patio, planted pots and shrubs and views over stream and bridge to open fields and woodland and a footpath. Wifi and phone signal good Stairs steep and needed care coming down especially : not good for anyone with mobility issues.
A few issues discovered: exterior rear light didn’t work, bathroom sink drained VERY slowly, The road is a ‘rat run’ and so regular passing vehicle road noise most days from morning through to evening. Relatively quiet to rear but both bedrooms face the road so earplugs recommended especially you like to sleep with ventilation via windows. No washing machine powder provided. No specific car parking with the property but is just possible to park at the front right up against the house and porch with a hatchback -anything larger and wider could be a problem as vehicle would be partly on the road which is narrow at this point. Rear porch door sticks and unable to open from outside if closed meaning you haven’t go around the front to go through the front door. All these points reported on leaving the property and would hope/expect the sink, outside light and rear door easy to,remedy.
- Thomas (9/5): Superb -
