Guest Reviews
- Michelle (9/5): A beautiful character and spacious property. Enjoyable visit. - Really enjoyed being in the property. It was spacious and lots of amenities. It was a beautiful garden and a good place to chill. Easy access to the area around. My mum is 87yrs old, so the steps and stairs were very challenging. The garden pathways were narrow with steps. It is possibly worth mentioning in the adverts.
- Lee (10/5): - Lovely place Neighbours disrespfullblocking drive all the time and windows even though signs were in window.a red fiat car next door scratch our car
- Katie (7/5): A lovely area but noisy due to the main road. - Spacious
Enclosed garden
Comfortable beds
Near the bus stop and train station for easy access into St Ives.
A good shower.
A Grade 2 cottage with its quirkiness and low ceiling so not for 6foot people.
Dog friendly. On the main road into St Ives so the traffic was noisy if not used to it. More double glazing required.
Bathroom facilities pokey, especially the toilet which is upstairs. No downstairs facilities.
Parking at a push for 2 cars not 3. Tricky getting out on to the main road.
Needs some general TLC in the house and especially the garden.
- Dominic (7/5): Old house in need of a bit of TLC but with so much potential. - Boundys House definitely has an olde world charm to it and when you consider that it was built in 1726 it’s actually doing really well. It has a lovely well secured garden with good off road parking. There’s plenty of room and all of the rooms are huge. Despite the recent review that appeared a few days ago we actually found the property to be very clean and it’s obvious that some effort had gone in to fix problems in what is an old and well used property.
The kitchen is well appointed.
The location is excellent, there’s so many beaches nearby, 2 pubs and a couple of restaurants in walking distance, buses to St Ives and Penzance right outside and of course the scenic train ride to St Ives only a short walk away. The open fire is lovely but it’s in the wrong room really. We enjoyed sitting by it early evening (in the much comfier chairs) and then were sad to leave it to watch telly in the main lounge later on.
The lounge gets warm with the efficient central heating but with a really uncomfortable sofa & armchair and no real fire it’s just disappointing.
There’s a general lack of soft lighting in the 2 main rooms downstairs so again it lacks ‘warmth’ and homeliness, which is what we’re looking for in a cottage holiday between October and April.
The bathroom is OK and the shower is actually quite powerful (which I think may cause a few problems downstairs - there’s evidence of leakage).
- Sumeia (1/5): Disgusting property, rat droppings throughout kitchen and overall a dirty & neglected house - From the get go we had a lot of problems with this property. The main issue was the house had an absolutely disgusting smell throughout the bottom floor, concentrated in the kitchen. The owner refused to get in touch, however sent their sister to the property who ordered two cleans, however this did not resolve the issue. Upon moving the fridge we found layers of mouse/rat droppings, and even upon that being cleaned (was quickly wiped over and not sanitised at all) the smell remained. We advised the owners sister that the smell remained and we felt it was coming from behind the washing machine, units and cooker also, to which we were told there's nothing more we are going to do. Again the owner had never once gotten in touch to resolve anything.
Through the property it was evident that it had not been cleaned from the previous guest. There was dog and human hair in the beds, dirt on the bed sheets, one bed had a huge yellow stain which was evident of urine. The windows and curtains were moldy. No light bulbs in the lamps or top lights. Shower was barely working and leaking a lot. Hair and mold in the bath. A lot of dog hair on the sofas showing it had not been hoovered inbetween guests.
The windows were painted shut and none opened which was a fire hazard. It also meant we couldn't open them to try to air the property out. We had to leave the front door open so we could manage to enter the kitchen to use it. This had us on edge the entire week as the property leads to the main road and we didn't feel safe but it was our only options as we felt physically ill with the smell.
Door handles on interior doors were broken and didn't work. The water was draining very slowly down the bath and sinks. The dishwasher tray was broken. Shelves in the fridge were missing. A wooden wardrobe was cracked with jagged edges and therefore a hazard. The windowsills were littered with dead flies and every corner had spider webs and spiders everywhere.
- Charles (8/5): Fantastic stay, great property, clean and well equipped. Great location and easy to find. - Its location in Lelant is perfect as a home base. Really easy to get to St Ives, Hayle, Penzance, and easy access to the A30. Train and buses from 2 stations made for easy daily travel. Local amenities are good, highly recommend The Forge for breakfast.
Amazing mature garden, perfect for the dogs and kids, some stone steps but mostly very safe. Enclosed by big iron gates so very safe from the road.
Very very well equipped kitchen, big lounge, den and a dining room. Bedrooms are enormous. The previous reviews about dust and mustiness seem to have been addressed as the house was spotless when we arrived and the silicon and grout looked to all be new. The only downside is the low ceilings and beams in places and some of the doorways are very low. Anyone over 6ft will be doing a lot of ducking. It’s par for the course in a 300 year old grade 2 listed house though.
- Lorraine (7/5): Despite the lovely garden we wouldn’t want to return to this property. - I thought the garden was very nice, a great area to sit and eat out. I like the charm of the old house and the spacious downstairs rooms. The head allowance was very low in most door ways and on the stairs ( can’t remember if this was mentioned in the details but it should be.) My husband is 6ft 3 in’s and he found moving around very difficult. The sealant around the bath was very poorly applied and it was mouldy as was much of the tile grouting. I found quite a few spiders webs and the inside window frames could do with a good clean.
- Patricia (8/5): Lovely garden - Lovely garden, a joy to sit in when sunny and a good space for our dogs. Cottage was well equipped and comfortable for two couples and dogs. Easy access to our favourite beaches. No huge issue with car spaces but a van parked very close to space which made getting out on to main road difficult. A car parked regularly in front of lounge window. Traffic was noisy which we appreciate cannot be resolved without huge outlay on double glazing.. Cottage was generally clean but some corners/underneath not hoovered and things like broken biscuit found in a drawer. One of the duvets had a bad stain (not the cover). Some kitchen equipment, eg saucepans, need renewing. We did feel though that some of these issues were reflected in the price.
- Graham (9/5): Lovely cottage would definitely go again and recommend it - Good location for trains and bus Could not get the garden lights to work everything else was fine
- Richard (8/5): Great roomy cottage but on a noisy road. - Great family cottage. Very noisy as it’s right on the road with single glazing. If that was sorted it would be amazing. Lots of room.
