Guest Reviews
- Maike (10/5): -
- Timur (10/5): - Villa Rosa on Feridhoo is a really chilled-out place.
The owners are lovely and the guests are really friendly.
Michela and Claudio, thanks for beautiful holidays.
- Margherita (10/5): Soggiorno perfetto - Tranquillità, cibo super, vario, abbondante e buonissimo. Camera pulitissima. Staff accogliente preparato e discreto che ha reso indimenticabile il nostro primo soggiorno alle Maldive indimenticabile Tutto perfetto!
- Frederick (10/5): Exceptional - Good Breakfast and friendly staff.
Lived the easy access to the beach and diving centre. Family style eating was something to get used to.
- Jovan (7/5): Good - Well-decorated guesthouse, conveniently located on the island (2-minute walk from the port for those who want to go diving, which was our case). Clean, spacious rooms, with a nice open-air shower.
Breakfast was good and copious, European-style, and the coffee is very good.
A tribe of cats in the garden, which was not at all disturbing for us.
Just a noisy air conditioning but it was OK. On the other hand: when we arrived at the airport and missed the speedboat to Feridhoo due to a flight delay, a hotel "representative" waited for us to tell us that we'd have to spend the night in Malé because the next boat wasn't until the next day, and left us in the middle of the airport without any help: you're on your own! Same reaction from the owner on the phone: "no options", no help in finding our way around Malé, no advice, nothing... Help would have been welcome.
The next day, we were delighted to arrive in spite of everything: a frosty welcome from the owner Claudio, not a word apart from a "Hello, finally...". We rarely spoke during our stay (except when we were introduced to the place). The only time we chatted was when we showed interest in his Noohiri diving club or when we had to pay and check out, which is surprising for a «guesthouse»... By the way, the prices of the activities he offers are multiplied by 2 compared to the local competition! (And what's more, you'll be billed in euros, so he wins on the USD exchange rate). So yes, he'll reply that all the prices are posted on his website, but fortunately he doesn't have a monopoly on this small island and it has nothing to do with our wallet: all you have to do is walk around the island and talk to people to find the same activities at half the price. For diving, for example, we chose AriUthuru: prices divided by 2 (classic worldwide prices) and a warm welcome.
It's a pity they think you're a wallet on legs, because it's a nice place.
In short, a nice place to sleep, but we strongly advise you to use the locals for activities & restaurants.
- Zbigniew (10/5): Exceptional - Villa Rosa, run by Michela and Claudio, is an extraordinary place. Surrounded by a beautiful garden, it is a carefully curated space where you can find a place to relax in a hammock or have a cup of coffee in the shade of the palm trees. The rooms are very comfortable and clean; attached is a beautiful outdoor bathroom where the sun rays shine or raindrops flow. Italian cuisine with Maldivian elements, fish, desserts; everything is fresh, delicious and beautifully arranged. Michela, who is the soul of this house, takes care of every detail and every guest. However, this place is extraordinary also due to its special inhabitants: a large family of beautiful orange cats, which are rare in the Maldives, because Maldivians generally do not keep any pets. Michela and Claudio have given these beautiful and smart animals a home and plenty of love. The cats are very well behaved, discreet and do not interfere with guests - in fact, it is the guests that seek their attention. We spent some beautiful moments at Villa Rosa and we would love to come back soon.
- Laura (10/5): Simply perfect! - Everything is simply perfect! If you are planning to go on vacation to the Maldives, this is the place! The hosts, Claudio and Michela, are extremely caring. The food is incredible, every day savoury meals and desserts are served. The rooms are extremely comfortable and the common inner garden area provides a nice environment to relax and chill during the day. Private beach area also a super plus! Highly recommended!
- Ellie (5/5): Passable - the cats not a lot to do on this particular island, ferry was quite expensive and lots of rules for the room
- Denise (10/5): Fantastic place to stay - Everything!! It was a perfect stay!! its a beautiful guest house very comfortable and cozy! The attention to detail is fantastic! Amazing breakfast everyday with Micaela’s great cakes!! Micaela and Claudio are super hosts and have created an oasis on this island! we are sad to leave this beautiful place and highly recommend staying here Nothing
- Matt (10/5): Exceptional - Small, intimate with amazing food. And cats too.
- Edward (8/5): Pleasant place but important to speak Italian to make the most of it - The place itself is very pleasant, bed comfortable and communal areas very pleasant. Feridhoo island has a nice bikini beach with good reefs for snorkelling and variety of wildlife. The welcome off the boat was very nice. There are a few shops nearby too. Eating communally can be nice but as this place attracts lots of Italians (the hosts are Italian), if you do not speak Italian then you feel somewhat ostracised at dinner time. Dinner is also quite late (8pm) and heavy so not ideal for sleeping well.
The outdoor bathroom is nice in principle but we had some large bugs come visit us.
Lunch whilst good was very expensive for what it was. As there is not much choice on the island for food options this feels somewhat exploitative.
The diving is quite expensive and the instructor seems a bit more concerned about conservation than tuition, and could have been more patient with students.
- Lubna (3/5): Disappointing and did not meet expectations - The place is clean (only inconvenience you're walking barefoot and transferring sand around as you go). felt like I was in a military camp. Fixed meals, fixed eating hours (they show discontent if you're a few minutes late), they even assign you a place to sit at the dining table!!! They don't tell you that you will be barefoot the whole time and don't provide you slippers/slip-flops to put on when you're indoors.
Pictures are very different from reality and the meals offered are plain and tasteless (except for dessert).
water pressure is so bad in the bathroom and water smells like sulfur.
My overall experience in this place was bad and I felt extremely uncomfortable as was the experience of the couple I met there.
Very disappointing.
