Guest Reviews
- U42 (4/5): I do not recommend Jai Lodge - I enjoyed the facilities when I visited Tanzania in 2021, however it was different when I came back in 2023.
With the new management, crew, construction debris/chaos, they still allowed guests to book and check in, but it was ok for me because it was late and the heat wave was at the peak in the northern side of the country. Additionally, the rooms were advertised as comfortable and fully air conditioned. So I acquired the room and to my surprise, the power was cut off due to non payment of the power bill. So they powered up the diesel operated generator, but it wasn't powerful enough to start the a/c compressor. The rude woman that works there came up and said the generator does that when it's "low on fuel," mind you I'm an electrical engineer. So I got furious and left for Masele lodge, a few kilometers away to the north.
I few weeks later I was in town from the safari, and I thought things wouldn't be so bad like last time.
I checked in slept well, but was awakened at around 4am because it was hot. It turned out the air conditioning wasn't working. So I got out and took a shower and went back to sleep as I didn't want to bother the crew. As morning came, I went outside to ask what happened, and right at the corridor to the left wall, the main power supply circuit breakers, supplying power to my room's a/c was cut off. At first tge light-skinned woman played off as she didn't know what went on, but the other dark-skinned who was cooking in the back yard said she shut the power off because the female manager was gonna yell at her.
So I decided to let that go and asked the receipt, but the lied that the machine that prints the TRA receipt, (government document that notifies the tax department of the sales/revenues) wasn't in order.
So, not only did they offer servises that are less than the standard, but they pocketed the cash, covered up the paper trail and most likely the new owner wasn't made aware of the transaction.
I don't recommend this lodge. If you're a tourist in that area, a quick search would give better lodges and hotels with better customer servise.
- Ryan (2/5): Stay clear - Stay well clear. The manager tried to make out that he'd never heard of hotels.com and that thwy dont take card bookings online. I showed him my payment confirmation and he tried to intimadte me by saying I was a thief and needed to pay in cash. The room was terrible and falling apart. I did not stay the night and never returned. This is a con
- Anna (2/5): - This is a scam. The property had no rooms for us and the manager was very unfriendly. Don't book this hotel.
