Guest Reviews
- Jakob (10/5): -
- Stephen (7/5): - Good breakfast. Friendly host and staff. Lack of en-suite bathroom to all the rooms.
Having to be out of the property between 10:30 and 16:00.
- Belen (10/5): Alojamiento Estupendo
Nada
- Anastasiia (10/5): - Потрясающее место
- gerald (10/5): Thank you for a welcoming stay in your beautiful home. - Was made to feel very welcome by Jo and Johnny in their beautiful period home. We so enjoyed our stay there, our large room had a lovely view overlooking immaculate gardens. Good breakfast too.
It was a great place to stay to explore the Cotswolds. We couldn’t find fault with anything, lovely place to stay.
- Stephen (10/5): - Great breakfast choice All good could think of nothing else to improve things
- mercedes (8/5): -
- Carol (8/5): Very relaxing with stunning views from the house of the beautiful garden and surrounding countryside - Breakfast was very good. The ladybird infestation.
- maria (10/5): -
- Penny (1/5): We didn't stay and had to find alternative accommodation at 7pm at night - On arrival at the property we were told that it was a B&B arrangement and we would have to vacate the house after breakfast the following day. This was not made clear when we booked. We were going to a local wedding that was starting at 2pm so would have had to get changed at 10am then sit around till then. the owners were unapologetic and unhelpful (and unfriendly). They claim this information is made clear on their website but we still can't find it. the booking.com confirmation email did have this information but it was right at the bottom of the email after adverts for local services so basically hidden. Much clearer upfront warning that if you stay at this place you will have to be out of the accommodation during the day, even if you are staying for two days.
- Cornelis (9/5): - Geweldig onbijt Kan niks bedenken
- Paola (8/5): Feeling like home in the Cotswold - The manor is a gem in the Cotswold countryside. Need a car to get there and be autonomous going around.
Wonderful hosts who make you feel like at home. Delicious breakfast.
- Karen (9/5): Very enjoyable stay. - Very nice and clean room. Lovely location. Warm and friendly hosts.
- Vicki (10/5): Fabulous place to stay! - We had a wonderful stay here for 2 nights. The house is absolutely lovely. Jo and Johnny were fabulous hosts. The breakfast was really nice; start with granola and fruit and yogurt followed by croissants and then a lovely cooked breakfast! The house is near lots of lovely places. It’s lovely and quiet at night. We will definitely be going back!! We were told we would be served afternoon tea on arrival but only got tea! No scone which was a shame as I love them! But this really is nit picking as the whole stay was fabulous from start to finish.
- Danielle (9/5): A wonderful experience in the Cotswalds - This is a wonderful place to stay in the Cotswalds. The hosts are delightful and were so accommodating. Everything is perfect- lovely rooms, bedding, toiletries and a fantastic breakfast spread. The hosts make you feel so very welcome -a very unique stay. Thank you It was all lovely
- inkorect (10/5): Perfection - Everything. The owners, the view, the location. I will choose it again
- Jane (7/5): Lovely location and property. Friendly hosts Disappointed with the rest - The Manor House property was elegant and grand. Large rooms, large staircase and landing. The meagre breakfast. The lumpy spring mattress. Ladybirds in the bedroom and bathroom ( I kid you not )
- Michael (7/5): Property owners very pleasant. Bathroom may not be ensuite. - Beautiful property. Breakfast was ok. Lovely fresh eggs. But surprised streaky bacon and full english was ok.
- Jolien (10/5): -
- Gill (10/5): Very thoughtful hosting in a beautiful property. - Delightful and attentive hosts, a room that had great attention to detail; lovely to be welcomed with afternoon tea. We'd definitely stay again. It felt like a real treat.
- Tsun Ho (10/5): Hard to imagine a better way to experience the Cotswolds. - Right out of the pages of the country living magazine. The centuries-old house, its manicured gardens and the field where horses roam have elevated our Cotswold experience. The hosts are wonderful and made us feel at home. The breakfast is delicious, almost stately. The room is spacious and comfortable, with a view like a painting. The house is also conveniently located within a half hour drive from many of the Cotswold's main attractions. It was a wonderful stay despite the grey autumn weather, I can only imagine what a warm, sunny day is like.
- Nola (10/5): Wonderful - Exactly what we were looking for. A beautiful property with wonderful hosts The setting is perfection
- Johanna (10/5): - Beautiful property and very pleasant stay!
- Annemieke (8/5): - Beautiful property, very friendly staff. We were however disappointed that we were told that we could not stay during the afternoon. We had 3 minutes to get whatever we needed and could return after 4 pm., because the owners wanted to lock the house. We could have used some rest as we were struggling with jetlag!!
- David (9/5): -
- Javaid (10/5): Superb from start to finish - Everything stunning
- Martin (10/5): Quintessential English manor home experience. - Great location to all attractions on the Cotswold. Quintessential English manor home experience. Warm hosts and hospitality.
- Luis Maria (10/5): I will strongly recommend it to our friends - Everything was fine, starting with hosts Johnny and Jo, and staff. Wonderful experience!
- Kelly (10/5): Loved it. Beautiful place - Great staff, gorgeous gardens and setting, beautiful home. Bed was too firm for me
- Sarah (9/5): Cotswold Magic. Golden, gorgeous and great! - The cheery and friendly hosts. Abby was great too! And the pooches. Everything was wonderful. The only little issue was that we were looking forward to being served afternoon tea upon arrival (as promised in the information sent by Johnny and Jo) and were only offered a cup of tea. Not a scone or cake in sight. A little disappointing.
- Massimo (10/5): Exceptional - The majestic view from the room's window, the complete quiet at night, and the excellent breakfast.
- Matthew (9/5): Superb -
- Josef (9/5): Superb - The accommodation was in a beautiful and peaceful location. The hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming. Nice room with a bathroom located in the hallway. Excellent breakfast. The mattress was a bit worn and saggy.
- Igor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Flurin (9/5): Superb - Johnny and Jo were exceptional hosts - warm, thoughtful, and truly welcoming. Their beautifully maintained home and stunning gardens offered the perfect retreat after long hikes through the breathtaking landscapes and picturesque Cotswold villages. The location was ideal for exploring the region's highlights. The breakfasts were outstanding. An unforgettable stay in every sense.
- Rachael (10/5): Fantastic English manor with lovely hosts! - Absolutely beautiful! The only thing I can say is it is odd that you are expected to be off the property from 10-4 and it’s not noted anywhere when you book and there are no locks on the bedroom doors but it really is not a big deal, just be aware.
- Faith (10/5): We had a wonderful stay in a beautiful manor with amazing gardens and great hosts. - Johnny and Jo were wonderful hosts. The house and gardens were amazing. It was central to where we wanted to go in the Cotswolds. Nil
- Jenny (10/5): Delicious breakfasts, beautiful grounds, charming hosts and friendly dogs! - Peaceful surroundings and gorgeous gardens. 2 adorable dogs who made a fuss of us. Wonderful breakfasts excellently cooked by Sarah. The location is excellent for visiting all the best Cotswold villages. Advisable to go early as some get very crowded and parking can be difficult. We weren't entirely at ease with having no locks on the bedroom door. Also booking.com mentioned a hot tub which I forgot to ask about.
- Stephanie (9/5): Superb -
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lukbut (6/5): Memorable place to stay - Quirky place to stay in the Cotswolds, definitely memorable! It is set in the countryside so you do not have amenities within walking distance but we accepted this for a true experience of staying in a manor for a couple of nights. Breakfast was delicious and fresh and included in the room rate. Overall I enjoyed staying there and would recommend it if the privacy situation is improved. Knocked off a star as we were unable to lock the bathroom door which made us uncomfortable and this was not addressed during our stay (it was a weekend but I suppose emergency locksmiths should also be available). The bedroom is also not fitted with a lock and they have a policy of not being allowed onsite from 10am to 4:30pm which was not evident to me until I was handed the check in form. I did find it described in some buried terms and conditions eventually but I believe this should be very clear from the get go.
- Sanok (7/5): Good - The property was beautiful
- Suman (10/5): Quaint manor with pleasant owners - lovely breakfast. owners were kind and helped to organise our days out. wife thought our weekend getaway to the cotswolds was lovely. nil
- Huey (9/5): Lovely, memorable stay; felt like home in many ways. - Johnny (host) and Jo (hostess) were excellent. We felt very much at home and suggestions on where to visit around Cotsworld were great. Breakfast was excellent. We enjoyed the homely atmosphere very much and were treated to the best ice cream in Cotsworld, made by Jo herself! Wished I had a long mirror in the room and onsuite bathroom. Everything else was perfect!
- Tornabene (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): Perfect stay with perfect hosts in beautiful rural setting - Beautiful manor house in very rural location close to famous Cotswold villages like Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-in-the-Wold. It is part of a working farm in beautiful countryside. Nothing to report.
- Maros (8/5): Very good -
- Alejandro (10/5): Exceptional -
- Simon (9/5): Aylworth Manor is a charming Cotswolds retreat with beautiful rooms, views, and warm hospitality. - We loved our stay at Aylworth. Jo and Jonny were knowledgable, friendly and attentive hosts. We especially rated the delicious cooked breakfast enjoyed in the elegant Manor House dining room each morning. It’s hard to fault. We didn’t find anything noteworthy to mention.
- Jude (10/5): Beautiful house off the beaten track, with great hosts! - Secluded and quiet, but within easy reach to the tourist towns.
Johnny and Jo were excellent hosts, and fun to get to know.
Beautiful house, well maintained.
Excellent breakfasts. It wasn't immediately obvious from the Booking.com site that we would have to be out of the house between 10:30 and 4. On this occasion, that wasn't an issue for us, but it would have been a factor on other trips we've taken.
- Abbey (10/5): This accomodation exceeded our expectations which were already high. A quintessentially “cotswolds” experience that fulf - Meticulously maintained household and property. The hosts, John and Jo, were a very down to earth and welcoming couple who didn’t hesitate to assist in any way possible. The epitome of the perfect hosts that suited their household to a tee.
The full English breakfast spread accompanied with granola and fresh berries as well as homemade croissants were delectable. Not a thing.
- Eleftheria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kamal (9/5): Stunning countryside and elegance in an old Manor Home - Both Dr John and Jo Ireland are exemplary hosts that go out of their way to accommodate guests and make them feel comfortable.
We spend very memorable times in and around Naunton. Johnny was very helpful with suggestions of things to do amd see. The rooms have large picture windows with rolling green hill vistas. This is horse country and we loved the country themes.
Thank you for a stay that is memorable, valued and important. The connectivity to places is good, but the property is a bit isolated and far feom.any other places. However, that is what we wanted!
Also, there are stairs, and for some, taking bags up may be difficult.
- Alex (9/5): Very enjoyable - Hosts friendly and attentive No shower available
- Dean (9/5): relaxing break in lovely property - Accommodation excellent with lovely exterior spaces and host and staff extremely friendly and helpful.
- Garry (9/5): Aylworth Manor Magnificent - The lovely grounds and comfortable rooms and the welcoming staff and owners. The location was also excellent for touring the Cotswolds. Just the lack of a fixed shower in the bathroom
- Julius (7/5): Beautiful Accommodation with personal character - Aylworth Manor is a beautiful manor house in the Cotswolds. The garden is incredible and surrounded by sheep pastures and paddocks. We received a very warm welcome with scones and jam and were given lots of tips for the surrounding area. The two Labradors accompanied us on our walk through the estate. The house is beautifully furnished in a British style. Breakfast is served together with other guests at a large table on the ground floor. We were offered to do the laundry, which was very nice. We enjoyed our stay. We were a bit surprised that you have to leave the accommodation between 10.30 am - 4.00 pm. We are not used to this and would have liked to know beforehand. The bathroom was dated and had carpet, which is not so pleasant. We had no wardrobe or hanger and no place to dry the towels.
- Anthony (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (10/5): Beautiful country retreat - Stunningly beautiful and secluded house and gardens
- Lutz (10/5): Exceptional - very picturesque Manor-house, the owners live there too and are very friendly, nice afternoon tea with scones upon arrival.
Room really beautiful, wonderful garden. Excellent breakfast. For Dinner 5 minutes drive to Black Horse Inn. no fridge in the room
- WENG (10/5): - Our stay at Aylworth Manor House was a fantasy came true. Remote countryside house away from the hustle and bustle of towns and cities. The peace and tranquility of the surroundings with farm and wildlife is unbelievable. Our hosts Jo and John was friendly and welcomed us on arrival. Highly recommend this accommodation to everyone staying at the Cotswold.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A very pleasant stay. - This was a lovely Manor House in a beautiful location. The room was comfortable and airy with good space. The breakfast was good but only a small amount for a ‘full English however other items were offered. The owners were very friendly and welcoming.
- Stuart (8/5): Very good - Gorgeous house and gardens. Comfortable beds. Super breakfast. No shower. Tap water not drinkable. There was tea and coffee in the room but only milk for one cup each.
- Sally (10/5): Exceptional - We liked everything about Aylworth Manor: the location, the hosts, the breakfasts were all excellent. The property itself is beautiful, very peaceful, and is set in magnificent gardens. We would definitely recommend it.
- Philip (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dominic (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bayard (8/5): Overall we had a wonderful stay. Our hosts were amiable and accommodating - House and gardens were beautiful. The views from the bedroom were gorgeous. The breakfast was very good. It was well located to see 5 National Trust properties. The bed was nice and a good size king, but the mattress seemed to be a little tired and in need of replacement.
- Matthew (8/5): Fabulous way to see and stay in the Cotswolds - Outstanding breakfast. Wonderful staff. Beautiful place, especially the gardens. Needed a shower for our room. Bath tub only was not ideal.
- Michael (10/5): Truly an exceptional experience - Aylworth Manor is the real deal if you are looking for a quintessential stay at an old English Estate in the country with rolling pastures, stables, beautiful gardens, and an amazing multistory country house. The breakfast was a delicious and healthy selection of locally sourced items like eggs, yogurt, fruit, sausage, etc. I loved waking up and looking out over the pasture and seeing the horses grazing on the hill. Spent as much time as possible just wandering around and enjoying the property between our trips to various locations in the Cotswolds. What a great stay. There was nothing about the property that I didn't like except perhaps there was only a bathtub and no shower.
- Charles (9/5): Excellent and would thoroughly recommend. - Excellent hosts, accommodation, breakfast and surroundings - would certainly recommend. Whilst the accommodation is excellent a proper shower rather than a hand held spray over the bath would have made it even better! :-))
- Graham (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (10/5): Homely, comfortable, beautiful, relaxing - The property was exquisite
- Greta (9/5): Beautiful country estate - Beautiful gardens and large, comfortable rooms. Lovely staff, great breakfast. Public footpath runs right through the back of the property No shower in the bath. This was fine for me but my son needed to adjust. It is a very old house.
- Yasuko (10/5): - The hosts were so welcoming and helpful.
Beautiful rooms and lovely garden. You will see the geese, pheasants, bourses in the morning. Our room was big with well facilitated. It was unforgettable experience for us.
- Sreeda (9/5): A Charming Mansion in the Heart of the Cotswolds - Beyond the old-age charm and delectable breakfasts, Aylworth Manor offers a wealth of opportunities for relaxation and recreation. The tranquil gardens provide the perfect setting for a leisurely stroll, while the surrounding countryside and charming villages are perfect for sunny day walks. Truly enjoyed our 2 night stay here and will definitely recommend to anyone looking for an English countryside experience.
- Ali (8/5): Very good - Quite and calm Restriction of stay between 1030-4pm
- Sue (9/5): Idyllic oasis of calm. - Idyllic location , very friendly and responsive staff, lovely breakfast and beautiful room.
- Spratt (10/5): Stunning country Manor with idyllic gardens - Incredible house surrounded by beautiful gardens and unspoiled views of the countryside. Our hosts were very welcoming, and the breakfast was delicious. The location is ideal for accessing popular local attractions while being far enough away from the tourist traps to truly enjoy the tranquillity of a rural setting. Leaving.
- Matan (6/5): Pleasant - Wonderful location, nice breakfast in a stupendously cute dining room, beautiful manor house with quiet surrounding. It was unexpected and unclear in the description that the private bathroom was not en-suite but rather down a shared hallway. Upon sharing our surprise by this to the owners, they were rude and patronizing.
- David (10/5): Excellent - Lovely experience. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Would recommend to anyone considering staying here
- Hugo (9/5): A hidden gem. Despite some of the comments, Joe & Johnny were phenomenal hosts and took great care of our stay. They - Everything! Beautiful manor, lovely rooms and gorgeous common areas.
- Maria (10/5): Gorgeous Aylworth Manor in Cotswolds - the hosts were very welcoming and helpful and They made me great suggestions to get around Cotswolds. Everything was excellent! Although, of course, the rain was present every single day
- Diana (9/5): Great place to stay, very rural - Beautiful property. Clean and well maintained. Bedroom with en-suite was gorgeous with great views Couldn’t be in property between 10.30am and 4pm as it is a working farm
- Andrew (10/5): Home from home in a gorgeous location - Lovely room, great location and a very friendly welcome. Home from home. Jo and Jonny could not have been more accommodating There was nothing to dislike
- Sum (10/5): A fantastic place for a base to explore the Cotswold. - The hosts Jo and Johnny were very friendly and helpful with their advice and recommendations. They really went out of their way to ensure that my wife and I were comfortable and our needs met. Lodgings were great - the spacious manor with its lovely gardens was very well kept, clean, comfy and above expectations. Having breakfast in the tastefully designed ornate dining room was an experience in itself. The food was scrumptious, setting us off on the right foot for a day of exploring the beautiful sights of the Cotswold. Nothing in particular. Totally enjoyed our short stay at the manor.
- Ken (10/5): I recommend Aylworth Manor to anyone who wants a touch of the English countryside. - Location was perfect - a modestly sized bed and breakfast alone in the country, far away from the hubbub of people and traffic yet central to the numerous towns that populate the Cotswolds. The manor was precisely what I was hoping for - a quaint, gently aged-looking place on the outside while clean, tidy, and charming within. And the landscaping was wonderful - healthy, richly varied flowering plants and shrubs. The breakfast was a delight - a full serving board with eggs very well made to order, all with personal wait service. Nothing
- Madhur (7/5): Good but can be better. - I loved the location, the rustic setting of the Manor The bathroom adjacent to my room was not functional - the toilet flush was not working. There was no shower - luckily i had another room where i could have a shower and use those facilities. I would have appreciated if the owners had told me this before. The other thing that upset me was that the property does not allow guests before 4 pm on anyday. For example if i am going for an excursion to the nearby villages, i have to come to the Manor after 4pm.
- Annie (10/5): - Lovely B&B centrally located in the Costwolds. The Manor is beautiful, breakfasts are top notch as are the rooms.
