- Andrew (10/5): Fantastic stay Thankyou so much ! - Great stay ! We stayed 3 nights in self catered unit , very clean and everything we needed. Very comfy beds ! We ate every night in the Inn it was delicious and lovely staff ! Great location for exploring the area and getting train to Oban
- Elizabeth (10/5): -
- François (10/5): - Endroit surprenant.
Bon accueil, super cuisine et très calme
Accessible en train. Au top.
- John (8/5): - Staff was friendly, the shower had great water pressure.

- Caroline (10/5): Loved staying here - I loved everything about this place, the staff are friendly and very helpful. It was spotlessly clean and in a great location with a great view over the loch,I can't recommend this place enough you wont be disappointed.I have stayed in a lot of places in Scotland and this is by far the best and so peaceful. Nothing
- John (10/5): Excellent and handily located - As it says on the tin, this is a restaurant with rooms. The restaurant has a short and excellent menu of well chosen and well cooked dishes, good wine list and a fine array of whiskies. The garden suite we were allocated was first class. Although close to both main road and the railway, it is well insulated and a very restful place The comfortable bed was only a double, although the room could easily have taken a bigger one.
- Jeanette (10/5): Perfect - The staff were excellent.
- Denise (7/5): -
- Mhairi (8/5): Lovely location. Comfortable and cosy stay - Pleasant stop off en route to Oban. Food was excellent. Staff was friendly enough
- Anne (8/5): Comfortable stopover on a long journey. - Lovely place to stay on journey to oban Front facing room with view of the sky!
Would have been amazing to look at the loch without having to stand on a chair!
If you ever install dormer windows I'll definitely be back.
- Stefan (10/5): Beautiful views and a warm welcome - Beautiful views, and our room was lovely and clean. The staff couldn’t do enough for us and the food and drinks were fantastic value for money as well as being delicious!
As a plus there is plenty of parking :)
- Thiam (9/5): - Excellent food

Facilities Happy with my stay
- John (10/5): Comfortable rooms. Very please T staff and great food. Amazing views - Clean, tidy. Great views. Modern and comfortable rooms. Nothing.
- Sharon (9/5): Lovely accomodation with exceptional view and food - We stayed here for the new year , the Inn made a real effort celebrating with lovely meal , DJ , fireworks piper and free drinks and food at the Bells . We were upgraded to a garden room for our dog which was lovely - stunning view , lovely veranda . The food here is gorgeous We had a slight issue with the bathroom heating that did not work initially but it got sorted . The shower was a tad blocked .
- Robin (9/5): Great service in a well run hotel - Cosy bar, great food and drink with excellent service Nothing
- Fiona (9/5): - The staff were friendly, room was very nice and warm. Breakfast was very good
- Alan (8/5): Lovely, dog friendly stopover point. - Friendly staff, dog friendly, comfortable room, lovely breakfast. Nothing.
- Andrew (9/5): Super clean and efficient apartment overlooking Loch Awe - The partment is a good size for two people in a fantastic location overlooking the lake. You can hear cars a bit during the day but inthe evening it is super peaceful just looking out over the water. It is very close to the Inn itself for food. Note they don't do breakfast, butthere is a shop within 100m. It is also dog friendly. I was there with the dog and it worked just fine. Note also it's really close to Loch Awe station so you could arrive by train if you wanted. The fittings in the bathroom were a little bit flaky, the shower didn't drain quite as well as it could and it took me a while to find the toilet paper but these are tiny things and everything else worked fine.

- Fiona (6/5): - I liked the location, the concept of self catering, the bed was very comfortable. I do not think it is 4 star. No coat hangers, when asked for some the boy came back and said 'I've looked everywhere and can't find any' - in a 4 star establishment! Eventually he brought us 3 hangers. There was dust on the lamp shade bases, the extractor fan in the bathroom was full of dust, some of the tiles on shower floor were missing grout, silicone hanging down slightly from under the bathroom sink. There was nowhere to put toiletries in the bathroom.
It was a comfortable stay but overall we were disappointed, not 4 star.
- Kathleen (10/5): Excellent place to stay on Loch Awe - We loved staying here. The restaurant was particularly good and staff (Matt especially) really helpful in suggestions on where to go. The room was modern and fresh making it very comfortable.
- alan (10/5): Just great - Excellent food Breakfast
- Brigitte (8/5): -
- Humphrey (10/5): A great gastro pub with lovely, modern, recently built rooms in a great location. - The room was modern, clean and just right; dinner - the food is EXCELLENT - first rate. They dont do breakfast so I had porridge pots which worked just fine. There is a village shop next door. Everything was great to be honest
- Monika (9/5): Piękna lokalizacja blisko jeziora i ruin zamku Kilchurn, czego można chcieć więcej? - bardzo komfortowy duży pokój z dużą szafą i nowoczesna łazienką wyposażoną w dwuosobową kabinę prysznicową z niskim brodzikiem i natryskiem termostatycznym. Pokój wyposażony w suszarkę do włosów, żelazko, termofor i mini lodówkę. Restauracja na parterze oferuje duże bogactwo dań, choć otwiera się dopiero o 12. W najbliższym sąsiedztwie budynku jest lokalny sklep oferujący bułki i rollsy na ciepło również w porze śniadania.
- Fauve (9/5): In awe with Lachawe. - We were really happy with our stay. The staff was friendly and although no breakfast was provided, some porridge and coffee was still provided for in the room, which made for a good replacement. We couldn't resist and enjoyed the restaurant twice as it was really good. If you're a cyclist, we recommend the smaller routes around (especially the B8074).
- Kris (9/5): The perfect base for hill walking in the local area and exceptional food. - The food in the Ben Cruachan Inn was exceptional, and the staff were lovely. I'd happily return again and again. The accommodation was clean, and to a high standard, and the pub was a great place to relax after our hill walking. My only minor criticisms of the garden suites are: There are no windows to open, so it became really hot at night during our stay (we were staying in summer). As we had our dogs with us we couldn't crack open the "french door" style door in the bedroom to cool down. A few extra pots/pans and a filter coffee machine would have made the stay even better, but we still had a wonderful time.
- Niall (10/5): -
- Thomas (10/5): - Very comfortable rooms, in a very nice location. The Food at Ben Cruachan Inn is excellent ! All the staff are very kind and attentive. We highly recommend Ben Cruachan Inn !
- Tamara (10/5): Aanrader! - Het personeel is goud waard! Allemaal even lief en behulpzaam. Helemaal niets! Wij hebben de perfecte vakantie gehad hier!
- Vladislav (9/5): - Nice location and view over the loch, plenty of nearby places to visit. Very good restaurant Sound insulation quite bad, you can easily hear the room next door or people in the hallway.
- Carrie-Ann (10/5): We had a really great stay. - The location, accommodation, restaurant and staff were all great. In particular the food in the restaurant was excellent. It would lovely if the restaurant could serve breakfast.
- Uta (10/5): -
- Rachel (7/5): Clean little cabin by the lake - Easy check-in. Accommodation was very clean and in good condition. View from the room/cabin was lovely as it looked out to the lake. By a very loud road and other people in rooms either side of us, but didn't hear anything, so must have good soundproofing. Really nice power shower. Comfortable bed. There were no windows. In the bedroom, there are double doors (that lead to nothing) but no window so couldn't get any air in. The main entrance is also the window / light source. The problem is there are chickens/roosters running around and they come right up to the door, so we didn't leave it open in case they came in. There was also no fan / air con, so it got quite stuffy and needs a window. Bedroom has no curtains, only a flimsy blind, so it got bright in there early. We were looking forward to the food, but it was disappointing (and really over priced).
- Marjolyn (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful, comfortable, perfect! We had a great stay, and enjoyed the views, our balcony, the comfy beds.
- Srdjan (10/5): A warm, dog-friendly Highland retreat with stunning loch views, great food, and welcoming staff. - Our stay on the lochs was absolutely delightful. The location was perfect, close to the picturesque Kilchurn Castle where you can also spot the highland cows. The staff went above and beyond to make sure our dog felt welcome, even offering a dog menu! The food was exceptional, and we enjoyed a tasty supper complete with a whiskey tasting that was perfect for the chilly Highlands weather. Overall, it was a wonderful stay with a warm, dog-friendly atmosphere, great food, and a beautiful location.
- Douglas (7/5): Good - breakfast is not available nothing
- Lindsey (8/5): Very good -
- Lydia (9/5): Superb -
- Clarinda (10/5): E.excellent value - very clean and compact self catering apartment with everything you could need. Bed very comfortable and powerful shower.
Food in the restaurant was very good. friendly staff. Toilet seat was a bit wonky.
The sauce with the mussels was a bit insipid.
- Kerrie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brendan (10/5): Fab room, fab dinner, couldn't have asked for more. - I stayed in the "Loch Awe" garden room which was immaculate, well-spec'd, comfortable and had fantastic views over the loch. The pub and restaurant are always brilliant - this was my 4th or 5th time staying or dining there. Nothing!
- Liz (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Fiona (10/5): Comfortable highland accommodation in a glorious setting. - Awesome food in a lovely setting . Comfortable room, accommodating staff. All good
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Large room with small kitchenette. Clean and comfortable. Nicely located for an overnight stop. Worth visiting Conans Kirk. We didn't take advantage of the Resturant but looked good. Easy checking and out.
- Steve (10/5): Perfect location, lovely rooms incredibly friendly staff especially the two new recruits Stephen and Rebecca. Dog frien - The property was located right next too Loch awe making it ideally located for numerous spots of interest, Loch Lomond, interary, Oban, fort William, and Glencoe Nothing at all was perfect and dog friendly too
- John (8/5): Very good - Road to chalets a bit rough and potholed.
- Hilary (9/5): Great location to explore Loch Awe and surrounding area - Good location on Loch Awe. Tasteful, quality furnishings Nothing
- Trevor (9/5): Superb - Nice hotel. Excellent staff
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Exceptional - All round excellent
- Heather (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff, delicious food, clean modern cottage Nothing
- Jacqueline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barry (9/5): Superb -
- Dorothy (9/5): Very nice upgraded hotel - Lovely and clean and spacious room. The doors and locks were noisy.I was aware of the neighbouring rooms coming and going a lot.
- Ballantyne (10/5): Lovely 2 night stay and wonderful meals - Very comfortable
- Graham (10/5): Room, beer and food with a view - Great staff, location, beer and food. Room also very good Just the mattress, a bit saggy.. invest in some Hypnos mattresses and gold stars all around...
- Rachael (8/5): Great garden suites - spacious, clean and well equipped. - We stayed in one of the garden suites and wow they are fab! Perfect for if you have a dog with own door leading to the long shared terrace and lawn. Great kitchen area for making breakfast/lights meals/snacks if you were staying longer. Definitely stay again. Pub lovely inside, staff a bit young and inexperienced but friendly. Food good. Great location for stop off to and from the Highlands and Islands. Nothing
- Gosta (8/5): Very good -
- Mary (8/5): Comfortable stay for our overnight visit - Located on the shores of Loch Awe. Our particular room was well appointed but looked out the back of the Lodge. Springy bed.
- Murray (10/5): Brilliant Service & Lovely Stay - We stayed in the chalets near the main restaurant, and they were very clean, spacious, modern, and comfortable. Basically no noise from the bar or the road, and a pleasant view out to the gardens and loch beyond.
The bed was great, plenty of space if you wanted to use the tables or desks, close parking, and excellent shower/bathroom.
We also ate at the restaurant and were totally blown away by the food: a really great selection and all delicious! Decent beer selection at the bar, and excellent service throughout. Will definitely be recommending and looking to return ourselves! The WiFi was definitely temperamental. When it worked, it was very fast and completely stable. But every now and then it would just drop and then not come back for a while. To be fair, it's more than good enough for most holiday activities, and the Inn are clear that there can be issues, but if it was truly stable this would be an amazing remote work retreat as well.
- Ross (6/5): Decent place to stay when hiking in Loch Awe - Great location and nice on-site bar with good selection of drinks and outdoor seating The room had lots of cobwebs and could have done with a more thorough clean
- Hillen (9/5): Superb -
- Maurice (9/5): A really excellent few days' stay. We were a fairly late booking, but very pleasantly surprised! - Exceptional attention to detail in the room facilities, and (surprising, given what I had read in a previous review) the room size was more than adequate...in fact the ensuite was large with a lovely large modern shower enclosure. I liked the contemporary but comfortable feel of the whole place. Cleanliness was superb. Staff friendliness and helpfulness were exceptional. Very good evening meals and draught beers in the restaurant. It was a pity no breakfasts were offered...even a DIY buffet/continental style breakfast is useful for those of us out walking all day...the local shop was inadequate for that purpose, despite advertising that they offered 'hot filled rolls' (they didn't).
- Louise (8/5): Very good -
- Eduard (9/5): Superb - Great Inn, top service, perfect location!
Use the chance to try out the amazing restaurant.
- Stuart (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ciaran (9/5): Superb -
- Christopher (9/5): Lovely Inn with rooms at an excellent location - Great location, friendly and helpful staff, ambience great. Stained toilet seat (yellowing)
Burger at dinner time seemed overpriced for what you got and against some of the other main meals on offer. Was like a slab of black pudding, didn’t see much pork in it.
As an example the Chicken Kiev was excellent and much more in keeping with the prices charged.
- Jørgen (7/5): Comfortable inn - The food is overall great, with nice flavor balancing and professional presentation. A few of the daily specials weren't great, but still a thumbs up for creativity and their focus on reducing food waste. Rooms are big enough and comfortable. Staff is great, welcoming and professional. The road outside is very noisy, with constant heavy traffic at high speed. Not great air circulation in the building, the air in the room got pretty thick without the windows open.
The surrounding area is difficult to explore on foot, with very few trails and only partial sidewalk coverage along the road. Better experienced with a car.
- Lenka (9/5): Superb - We appreciated its location, stunning views over Loch Awe, cosy bar and excellent food. The place felt friendly and very homely.
- Ren (9/5): Perfect place to stay whilst visiting attractions close to Loch Awe. Oban only 30 minutes drive away. No complaints! - Room was comfortable with all facilities you may need. Staff were so friendly and approachable.
- Liz (9/5): Superb - The staff were friendly and welcoming, the views were lovely and a comfortable room
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Joseph (8/5): Superb location, excellent inn - The location is astonishing. The walk around Ben Cruachan is amazing, and the inn is accessible by train. Having the pub and the shop within 100 meters meant we could arrive by train and do our whole trip without a car. The inn has excellent food and drink, too. The room was comfortable, and it was great having the self-catering facilities. Despite my quibbles below, I have already recommended this inn to several friends. Quite a few details could be improved in the room. The lighting in the bedroom was bright, cold lighting, which meant we couldn't read in bed before sleep. The fire alarm was right by the bed, illuminated, and flashed all night. The fire alarm went off randomly three times. The slatted blind in our bedroom did not provide sufficient privacy. The main room could have used more shelves or an extra table. There were only four coat hangers in the cupboard. Each of these details is small, but they added up: the room felt designed for a one-night stay, not a longer trip. A tiny bit of extra care would go such a long way here.
- Gabriel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Noreen (9/5): Wish could have stayed another night!! - Property overlooks Loch Awe, one of my favourite places in Scotland - stunning location. We didn’t eat in Restaurant as had eaten earlier but we had a drink in the bar. Great ambiance, staff were very pleasant and attentive and were working very hard! N/A
