Guest Reviews
- Marshall (10/5): - Yes pet friendly. Clean room and comfortable bed.
- Joseph (8/5): Nice little back woods spot. - Little old school with getting room access. The room is clean and comfortable but needs some updating. Happy with my stay it was exactly what I paid for.
- bill (8/5): Great Gravity Inn - I was very happy with the stay at Gravity Inn. Great basic motel at the right price. I would definitely stay here again. The associated restaurant is bonus. Ate here and the food is very good. I didn't find anything that would prevent from staying here again.
- Michael (8/5): - The best budget, rural motel that we have found. May not be what many expect, but for a quick, overnight stay in the area, we'll be back.
- Kevin (10/5): - Nice and new!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Arrived very late to a welcoming host, easy check in/out. Room was quiet, comfortable and ultra clean. Only complaint was it has been smoked in, but balanced with an amazing view of the milky way and some shooting stars, decided to let it go.
- Kelley (10/5): - Nice place
- PETER (10/5): - There is a bar and restaurant across the parking lot. Staff was great.
- Michael (6/5): - Little motel, clean, could use some repair work. The lodging is managed by the bartenders of the associated bar and restaurant. It wasn’t unpleasant, just basic.
- Susan (6/5): - There was a restaurant on the property which was convenient, but other than that would not stay again
- Robert (8/5): - Good place. Out of the way in a good way. Nice and quiet, beds are comfortable cleaning women does a good job. She is friendly the restaurant is a 1000 feet an away and has an amazing Ruben sandwich plus some other really great food!! The bartenders were very nice and helpful. I had a problem with my debit card and she trusted me to come back and take care of it. I wish I remembered her name. Sorry Mrs. Bartender but TY for that. Hope to see you soon.
- Jacqueline (10/5): - This was our second stay and for the price it is a good deal. We had dinner in tbe restaurant and the food was good, our waiter nick was awesome he made sure our. Dinner was enjoyable, would eat there again.
- 466brianaa (6/5): Clean but not much else - The rooms were clean and the beds were good. But the Wi-Fi was nonexistent, our room smelled like weed, the door had no inside lock, and we had no idea how to get in touch with any manager.
- Mike (10/5): - Great Experience.
- Kyi (8/5): - It was nice stay with some amenities that were unexpected: mini fridge and microwave which were not mentioned on the Hotels.com (would have been nice if it was mentioned so we can prepare for our food).
Room was clean and cozy compared to the price except a mosquito and an ant we found.
Over, we really like it and would to ld go back again if we have another opportunity.
- Joseph (10/5): - It was very nice and staff was nice and check in was easy and hassle free
- Denise (10/5): - Pleasantly surprising for the price, refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Very comfortable room!
- Bill (8/5): - Great value - spacious clean room. Would use again
- Earl (10/5): - Very peaceful. Had a bite at the restaurant connected. Food was good too.
We’ll be back.
- Diana (6/5): - The price was good and it was clean inside.
We bring our own sheets, pillows, blankets and towels, but outside looks so lonely and scary looking. You got to go to the restaurant to get your keys after hours n there's no mention of that.
- Amy (6/5): - It was inexpensive and close to my work. The restaurant is good. It is just a place to sleep, and all that i really needed, but the bedding needs to be updated.
- Sharon (10/5): - Rural location Cocktails available within 100 yards.
Clean unit. Very fluffy towels. Comfy beds.
Management considers renter's requests and attends to them appropriately.
Did not like entrance road, missed turn thinking it was private property of a garage. In fact the road continues back along side of the garage.
- John (8/5): - Pleasant staff
- Raymond (10/5): - The room is basic but comfy. The restaurant/bar is within walking distance on the same property. The food is very good and the staff are friendly and helpful.
- Dawn (10/5): - Friendly and accommodating staff.
- Dawn (10/5): - The staff is extremely helpful and accommodating and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The rates are very affordable, I would definitely recommend The Gravity Inn.
- Fred (8/5): - Restaurant walking distance from room
- Kent (4/5): Not for everyone - If you need only economy, this is an option. Check-in is at the bar across the parking lot. The room was okay. TV was small and was set for showroom display, blocking a strip at the bottom of the screen. Walls are very thin between rooms (I will spare you the details.)
- Judy (6/5): It was okay - The room was nothing to write home about. The restaurant was fantastic
- Dane (8/5): - Great place to stay for my Senior Hunting trip to PA.
- Robert (10/5): - Nice place to stay overnite.
- Michele (8/5): - Simple, clean, quiet and pet friendly room! Food at the restaurant was excellent! Would definitely stay here again!
- Michele (8/5): - Rooms are average but clean and pet friendly and the food at the restaurant is excellent.
- Tiffany (6/5): - It was nice for a quick little night stay before heading home the bar and restaurant was nice in walking distance from our room
- Verified traveler (4/5): Never again - The towels were great quality. BUT the room stank of cigarettes and mold. The floor was filthy. And the furniture broken.
- Gordon (10/5): - I love this place. Peace & quiet. The restaurant is just great. I have had thick crust pizza and Gravity Chicken and burgers.
- Gordon (10/5): - Off the main road, very tranquil, most value
- Jessica (8/5): - The place is good for resting.
- Wendi (8/5): Okay place to stay! - This motel serves its purpose as it was a convenient place to stay for our trip. Some updates would probably go a LONG way!!
- MICHAEL (10/5): Great Value - Very good value with comfortable beds and spacious bathroom.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - There were Bugs and wasn’t the cleanest.
- Robert (10/5): - Privacy and respect and quiet
- Janusz (10/5): - Great Deal and Restaurant on site.
- David (8/5): - Friendly staff. Restaurant had good food and service. Room clean and i felt safe there.
- Illya (8/5): - Good.
Definitely check out their restaurant
- Jerryl (10/5): - Gravity Inn is not fancy but is a family owned business (3 generations) that provides a comfortable, affordable, home-like atmosphere. The food at the restaurant on site is wonderful. Worth a trip to Waymart just for a meal
- Marg (10/5): - We have traveled back home many times and this is the cleanest, most comfortable place I have ever been to. Definitely planning to make this our go to accommodations in the future.
- John (10/5): - Great hotel that has a kitchen & bar 200 feet away. Great check in staff, 3rd visit with no issues.
- John (10/5): - 2nd visit, great clean, safe rooms
- John (10/5): - Convenient
- Jennifer (10/5): - Very clean and quiet. Felt safe. And it was super close to my destination. Will stay again!!!
- Carol (8/5): - Parking right in front of room is nice. The heat unit worked well and beds were comfy. The walls are thin though and could hear the neighbors late at night.
- Jennifer (10/5): Fabulous - The room was great, very clean, and the peppermint Pattie’s on the towels were a very nice touch!
- Holly (8/5): - Great value! Although the property does not look nice from the outside, inside it was welcoming, extremely clean and with great amenities like good soaps, mints, warm, fuzzy blankets and THE BEST pillows! Check in at the bar was inconvenient. They should consider key pads. Cliff, the manager, although not present on site, responded instantly to texts.
- Samuel (10/5): - Parking lot could use some TLC, otherwise it was great
- Verified traveler (2/5): Terrible service, not worth the risk - When I showed up just after midnight the office was closed and I couldn’t reach the number provided. I had to go elsewhere for the night.
- Robert W. (8/5): - Off the beaten path, but perfectly acceptable. We only stayed one night... the accommodations were modest and comfortable. The property was beautiful, with a view of the river, and there was space to walk our dog. There were two firepits outside for evening camaraderie. Hancock is a cute town; we attended a musical performance in the town square/park and had a wonderful time. Staff is terrific. :-)
- I9127SAreginap (4/5): Bedding Needs Help - First, the good:
1. The overall cleanliness was good. The shower, toilet and the sink were very clean.
2. New vinyl flooring in the main room, but it would be nice if it continued into the bathroom.
3. There’s your standard amenities: a small refrigerator, a single cup coffee maker, and a microwave. All you really need for a quick cup of coffee in the morning.
4. It was dog friendly.
The bad:
1. The parking lot is a mud pit with a million potholes.
2. There is no mat inside the door to wipe your feet after walking in the muddy parking lot.
3. The beds are in dire need of replacement. The boxspring was so disgusting (pictures attached), I tucked towels over it to cover it, so I wouldn’t touch it getting in and out of the bed.
4. The sheets are so old and pilled, they feel like sandpaper.
5. Every time I flush the toilet, I had to take the top off the back of the tank and pull the plunger, or it kept whistling.
Summary
It was a convenient location for where I was going, and the people were very nice, but I will not go back there again, unless they replace all the beds and the linens.
- Leslie (8/5): - People leaving in the middle of the night were a little noisy.
No hair dryer
- Charles (6/5): - Odd place!
- Joseph (6/5): - The property condition could use a make over but the rates would not be as favorable. The parking lot/entry road is dirt and VERY rough and our new clean vehicle came out looking like we were in the dust bowl. It's not bad if you are a smoker and want to join the chain smokers just outside your door. Safety could be an issue due to the location and layout.
- HomeMadePizza (6/5): No Frills, Bad Air; Great Pillows and Hot Water. Decent value but would not go out of my way to return with kids. - Other reviews state that this is a "no frills" motel experience - I found that to be a gross understatement. This is a restaurant/motel and the motel is basically an afterthought. 12 rooms built in a line on a poured slab along the approach to the eatery. Nothing wrong with that.
Check-In Process:
Upon arrival you have to drive about 100 yards past the motel to the restaurant in order to check in. You could walk it, but it's a dirty gravelly parking lot and you will get muddy if it's been raining. When you enter the restaurant there is no signage that helps you, the motel renter, understand where you need to go. The restaurant hostess will direct you to "go to the bar and ask for Cliff". That's fine, but now I have to wait to catch the busy bartender's attention when all I want to do is just check in and get a key. I'm navigating a room full of rowdy locals and loud music and thinking "what have I gotten myself into?" Eventually this occurs, rather painlessly actually, and Cliff checks my ID and hands me the key. He instructs me to leave it in the room when I check out. No problem. Cliff was very friendly. It's just an unusual check-in scenario for a motel and it caught me off guard.
The room itself was as follows:
First, the Bad Observations:
1. Threadbare carpets, which felt like there was no carpet pad underneath; just the slab.
2. Very thin walls that force you to listen clearly to whatever your neighbors are watching on the TV.
3. One of the two wall-mounted bedside lamps would not switch on (broken switch.)
4. The room *wreaked* pretty badly of cigarette smoke, which they attempted to mask by burning a smoker's candle and then installing a Glade air freshener that was "wide open" on the garment shelf. It did not succeed. The air felt pretty toxic in there and I woke up with a headache. This was probably my biggest complaint about the room.
Neutral Observations:
1. The bathroom floor was ICY COLD. The shower drip mat had to be put in front of the toilet just to be tolerable. This could be alleviated by including two mats in the bathroom instead of just one. (Because a wet mat would not be effective.)
2. The TV was tiny but that's fine. I didn't come here to watch TV.
3. The room was a little dark. (Granted, one light was broken.)
Good Observations:
1. The room had great hot water. There was almost no warmup time.
2. The pillows were surprisingly luxurious.
3. The heat, which we did not use until morning, warmed up the room effectively and quickly.
4. The price was right.
Also Note:
Another thing that needs to be stated is that Waymart is further "out there" than you think, if you have never visited this area. It was a good 20 minute drive from Scranton/I84 and there is very little around in the way of coffee, gas, food, other than the on-premises restaurant. You do pass a couple of wind farms which was neat to see.
It is also about 2000 feet away from a State Prison, which you drive right past on your way into town. That's something the Waymart residents are probably accustomed to, but it gave my family the willies at first, because it's not something we're used to. (We've seen too many prison break movies, I guess. The night passed without a movie-worthy incident, however.)
We drove through the Scranton area twice on our trip. On the way out, I spent more money for a chain hotel that was closer to the interstate and included breakfast. I thought it would be neat to save money and try something more unique on the way back, and so we stayed at the Gravity. The verdict? It was "sort of" neat, and definitely "different".
However for the ~50 dollars we ostensibly saved, it was not worth the extra driving time, having to make an additional stop (and expense) to find breakfast the next morning, and the reduction in quality of the accommodations, to stay here. In the future, I probably would pay a little more and just stay at another chain hotel right on the Interstate which included breakfast, if I were doing it all over again. No offense toward the Gravity.
That shouldn't take anything away from the "basic motel" experience that Cliff is providing here. I can see the appeal of cruising into a low-cost motel that has a great "all-American" restaurant and bar attached, knocking a few back, on premises, with some good local color to interact with. Another reviewer said this motel merits 2.5 stars and that feels about right. That's not a dig on the Gravity. That's the value level they're aiming for, and they're priced right for it. If I were traveling solo or with a group of guys, and we needed a waypoint on a road trip that had a "real local bar" on premises, I'd totally stay here again... If Cliff promises to air out the room better next time. :)
- Pablo (10/5): - Excellent place
- Trek51970289620 (10/5): My little home away from home for the next year!!! - In town on business and knew I would be coming in late and leaving late, no issues finding the motel. The lady that checked me in was most helpful when I advised I’d pay for another night - which is what I normally have to do, she said I’ll just mark you as a late check out. That was top notch in my book. Got to the room the smart lock worked perfect, tv worked and the heat practically turned the room into a sauna which up there Lolol I was ok with. Beds were very comfortable and after 5 hours asleep I was back up getting a nice hot refreshing shower and back out the door. I made it back by 2/3pm to find that even though I wasn’t staying the night and was supposed to already be out of the room they had still straightened up, wish I could have crashed Lolol. I normally have to have my iPad with me when doing inspections I completely forgot it - at a more expensive hotel in Scranton it turned up missing - here it was right where I left it!!!! I’ll take this little motel any and every time I come into town over a bigger more commercialized hotel in Scranton any day. I’m hoping when I come back in April I’ll have time to try the restaurant out, everyone I spoke to while up there said I was doing myself a disservice by not eating there or taking something back with me.
- John (10/5): - Ok
- Carmyn (10/5): - Great value, friendly staff, clean. Mattress needed replacing. Not level
- 275ashleeb (6/5): Perfect for what you pay for plus better - There is zero fine print or undisclosed features. What amenities are stated is what you get. For the price and leniency’s not to mention the great food and bar of the gravity restaurant you get exactly what you paid for and then some.
Just says you should do in any motel room that you may stay in (whether it’s $70 a night or $700 a night) don’t use the top cover of the bedspread, of course. And don’t expect to be staying at the Hilton. It’s warm and clean. It’s safe and convenient. If what you’re looking for is a clean and safe room for less than $100 per night with zero down payment or security posit then I would recommend the gravity inn motel every time
- MICHAEL (4/5): - The room decor was a 1970's motif.
- curtis (10/5): - All good, but parking lot and road pot hole city.
- Bertha (10/5): - Staff were friendly and helpful.
I was happy to find the fridge, microwave and coffee maker in my room.
Lots of towels.
- Donna (8/5): - I have stayed before. Definitely a now frills place. But the beds are comfortable and the rooms and bathrooms are clean. Restaurant on property has amazing food!
- Natalie (8/5): - Comfortable beds, microwave, mini fridge, good tv selection. Quiet area.
- Thomas (8/5): - The Motel was the typical small town old rustic motel with wifi but no telephone and few amenities.
- Pilar (10/5): - I absolutely loved my stay there. The staff was delightful, the place was clean and had all the amenities you could need, the parking was convenient, and it had a restaurant/bar already on sight. I would absolutely stay there again!
- Christopher (8/5): - It was a good value for the price
- Robert (8/5): - The stay was nice the restaurant was excellent the wait staff very friendly overall were very happy
- Michele (6/5): Summer road-trip - It was different you had to check in at the bar around the way!
The rooms were very clean
It was perfect for a sleepover spot on our road-trip
Should tell ya microwave and refrigerator is provided
- Nicole (4/5): Worst experience of my life…. - Walking in… The room looked neat enough… But… The first bed was probably 6 inches shorter than the second… Almost as if there wasn’t a boxspring but I did see a boxspring.. went to put something in the refrigerator… And the refrigerator was unplugged which I found out after opening it as the smell was atrocious!!! Disgusting… no frills is putting it mildly… Screens were broken as if people had to get into the room and forgot their key … Will never stay there again…
- Langdon (8/5): - Nice people. Check in at restaurant (Gravity Inn) next door. This isn’t the Four Seasons but it is perfectly adequate for a fair price if you are traveling through or staying a few days. I felt the room was clean, the shower good. The pillows were excellent though my bed was too soft. It was quiet and I felt safe. TV was fine with standard canoe selection. One note of caution for non smokers, the room I had was obviously extensively used by smokers. I was only going to be there 8 hours so while I got used to it, the smoke smell was overwhelming. Ask for non smoking room - which I did not do as usually I stay in Marriott’s which are smoke free. The test: would I stay there again for the price? Yes.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not best location - Photo do not match property. Not a good location.
- Deborah (10/5): - Room was clean, quiet area, staff was friendly. Downfall not open on Tuesdays
- Mario (8/5): - Nice and clean
- Marie (8/5): - My stay was comfortable! The room was clean and the Restuarant was very good. Staff was very friendly. I will definitely book the property again.
- Brian (10/5): - Great motel for what it is. Clean rooms, staff at the inn and restaurant are great!
- Anthony (6/5): - when we got to Gravity inn,we went to the restaurant there first ,the service was good people where friendly ,when we then checked into our room it was clean, and taken care of ,although we had fruit flies coming up from the sink grain which was kinda gross ,but all and all it was a nice comfortable place to stay for the money ,i would go again
- Jamison (2/5): - I like that they are not a large corporation. I did not like that they cannot provide rooms as reserved. I asked for two rooms, they stated that 2nd room could not be rented due to a tenant not leaving. Poor planning on their part.
- Francine (8/5): - It was my second time staying at this hotel. Will stay again when in the area. Friendly staff and guests. It is a no frills hotel but very clean and comfortable. Our cable was not working but thanks to Cliff, we had it fixed pretty fast. He called the cable company and they were out in less than a hour. Still haven’t gone to the restaurant there but everyone raves about the food.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - had a very hard time finding it....place looked sketchy, I would not take my family there.
The bar was fine and Jimmy the server was very nice.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Spider webs all over
- April (6/5): No wifi but clean - The room was very clean and the shower nice and hot. Our only issue was that there was no one in the office all weekend for check in and check out so it was a bit tricky to do that. Also they said there was free wifi and there wasn't. Other than that is was fine.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I would describe this as quiet clean and quirky. To get to the motel you go down a dirt driveway that looks like it is part of a auto repair shop. Check in necessitated going into a crowded bar at the restaurant bar facility, a little further down the same dirt driveway. A few doors down from our room was a very inebriated gentleman getting ill outside. However once we got into the room, it was obvious it was clean. Aside from a drip from the bathtub which was not a major problem and some odd curtain blind combinations, nothing was a problem. The beds were comfortable and once our heads hit the pillows, we slept well until morning. This is not some place I would spend a week, but for an overnight business trip it was perfect.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - we stayed one night here for a recent quick trip to Elk Mtn. we contacted through Expedia messaging about late arrival & got quick, polite responses & even a warning about the heavy fog in the area telling us to drive safe.
it’s a typical old-school Poconos motel. nothing fancy but clean & convenient rooms. only complaint was a little nicotine smell in the rooms we had, but it wasn’t overbearing either.
the motel has their own bar on site, which was perfect for a couple pints after a long drive. we arrived late & checked into the hotel at the bar & the bartender was extremely friendly. location is a little off the beaten path, but not far either & only a 20-25min drive to Elk Mtn.
definitely would stay here again when going to Elk Mountain.
- Tim (8/5): - Nice place for what you pay. Cool bar with a pool table 100ft away.
Room was clean and didn't smell. Water was very hot with great water pressure.
No lock from the inside is a bit odd.
- Janan (10/5): - Very clean, quiet . Great value for the price. Restaurant on premises
- Jeffrey (8/5): Excellent value for all in price of $77 a night! - Just a place to sleep. Very clean. Basic appointments. Decent shower with fast hot water. Small fridge. Instant coffee. Small bath towels. Comfortable bed. Low end linens. Thin walls. Flat screen TV.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - They did not have my room for me when I arrived. I had to find other accomadations at 8 pm on a Saturday night of a holiday weekend.
- JosePh G. (10/5): Inn - good nice all good
- Joe (10/5): - If you are in the area there is no better place to stay. There is a bar restaurant on site that serves the best food and cold beverages. The staff is amazing and the beds and rooms are clean and comfortable.
- Paul (10/5): not bad would stay again great food - small older place but nice great food in there resturant big plates but no microwave in the room to reheat the food room was clean
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean, inexpensive and comfortably unpretentious. If you're Covid concerned like me, the doors go right outside, so there's no trapped air to deal with. Not really a destination, but a good place to sleep while visiting the area.
