- Grantshadow (4/5): Thin walls!!!! No sound isolation. - Generally visually nice design though interior facing rooms means that you are facing a wall in the thin atrium. But the worst part is the walls, at least to my room, are the thinnest I've ever encountered. I'm listing right now at 6 am to the couple next door speaking in normal inside voice, playing television and turning on the sink and it's as if they're right here in the room with me. Shockingly bad for a hotel that wants to charge these kinds of prices.

- Michael Sheridan (10/5): - We have stayed here several times. It is a very cool property in a beautiful, historic building. The decor is hip and stylish, the service at the front desk and lobby bar was excellent, the room was well-designed and, most importantly, the bed was very comfortable. It’s located within walking distance to the Vikings stadium (and lite rail station), the Guthrie Theatre, and the Mill City Museum and riverfront, and a longer walk or short Uber ride from the Twins Stadium and North Loop. Highly recommended.
- DayTrip762587 (10/5): Great renovation and location - Gorgeous renovation. The design team did a fabulous job selecting the decor and paid amazing attention to detail. The loft room with the king bed was very quiet, and the bathroom was impeccably clean. The only suggestion is that the shower stall tile floor is quite slippery. Perfect proximity to the Guthrie Theater, Mill City Farmer's Market, and Trader Joe's.

- stephanb905 (10/5): Modern Industrial & Comfy Hotel in the heart of the city - This hotel was fantastic. Check-in was smooth and the staff was very polite. I loved the industrial and modern look & feel of the hotel located in the heart of the city close to restaurants, bars and parks / river. My room was very clean, large and offered a good view of the city. The bed was very comfortable and the room itself was very insulated from outside or inside noise which I really appreciated. The staff throughout the hotel was pleasant, polite and professional especially in the restaurant and bar areas. I really enjoyed the food and the quality of the drinks. The hotel is super conveniently located in the city as well so overall everything went great including the check out and access to transpostations.

- panosthegreek (10/5): Wow, an Amazing Stay for a Change! - Wow indeed, I nearly lost hope in American hospitality, having experiencing bad service and lack of recognition as a Hhonors elite member in a couple of other properties! Even before check-in, I was alerted to an upgrade to a junior suite, and was welcomed warmly. What a property, a historic building, thoughtfully restored and designed, giving an immediate sense of rustic and modern luxury at the same time, upon walking in even. The junior suite was amazing, and the room service attendants really great and helpful. The only improvement needed, was, service during breakfast, a tad cold, hence a smile would not go amiss!

- 791shawnad (6/5): Very loud live music on Friday and Saturday nights - They really need to warn guests that on Friday and Saturday nights they have live music in the lobby that is so loud, six floor up, that you can not sleep. It was louder than my television and went on until way past 10, when we were told it would stop. Just beware. The hotel itself was fantastic with tons of attention to details. We did not receive any caramels that others mention.

- Benjamin (10/5): - Really nice hotel in a really nice area. Great coffee in the room. We loved using the hotel bikes to get around. Parked on the street because even with metered parking it was $6/day (on a weekend) as opposed to $35 they were charging (meters are on 8am-10pm so remember to set your alarm every 4 hours). Overall, our stay was great EXCEPT for one thing. The fact that their pool has been under renovation for several months and NOWHERE on their website or on hotels.com is this mentioned left us feeling less than impressed. When we brought this up to their employees, they acted surprised as if they heard it for the first time…. Transparency was n advertising matters!!!

Looks good but not functional: (1) a single bench placed directly in front of the weights; (2) broken equipment, incl a treadmill, Peleton and I think a piece of equipment I did not recognize; and (3) the body odour smell was overwhelming both days that I was in there.
- TanT80 (10/5): Excellent - We absolutely loved our hotel. Every detail was so well thought out. We loved the wood and metal details thought and the history of what that building used to be. We loved the modern bathroom and shower. We really enjoyed having a Nespresso in our room. The best though our features were the luggage rack area to conveniently get to our clothing and also the motion sensor light on the mirror to help navigate at night. The only thing that could use help was the signage for the main entrance and also the parking. We had a hard time finding where to enter and check in when we first arrived.
- knuteg2022 (4/5): Watch out for the service at this place - I have stayed here three times. It is a great location and the hotel itself and the room are very nice. This historical feel of the building makes it feel different - charming - than most hotels. The rooms are well-appointed but fairly standard. Nothing to write home about. The service here is awful. It starts with arrival. The doors are locked after 7pm. There is a sign on the door telling new arrivals to call a phone number to be let in. You call the phone number and it is initially a standard recording. There is no option for "open the door - I am checking in". I finally get someone and the person at the front desk tells me he is busy checking someone else in and it might be a minute before he can come down to let me in because he is the only one working the front desk. I am holding my heavy bags sweating and exhausted from travel just wanting to get inside. Great. My interactions with the front desk were all the same - complete indifference to customer service. I asked about my Hilton Honors points for the stay - completely ignored. I noticed the guy was sitting there doodling elaborate cartoon scenes of cartoon scenes of Transformer-type cars while talking to people - really seemed to care about his job. I asked about a late checkout - just needed an extra half hour to take a business phone call. Nope - need the room back right away. No effort to provide a solution. I asked about a business center. Nope - we don't have one. Do you have any quiet places I can take a call? Look around the lobby and maybe downstairs on the conference room floor, he said. No attempt to provide any helpful solutions at all. This was extremely frustrating. I doubt I will stay here again.

- lauraeB6436BQ (4/5): Overnight parkers beware! - Canopy, you’re getting two stars. I arrived expecting to pay $30 for parking overnight. The Hilton app, front desk attendant & all signage failed to tell me I have to get a “voucher” from the front desk. So imagine my surprise when I went to leave the parking garage and had to pay $60 for one night of parking! Then to add insult to injury Hilton nor the hotel would make it right. They gave me the number to the parking service who burns calls. I am a loyal Hilton honors member and stay in hotels for work every week. Guess I’ll head to Bonvoy-Marriot from now on. McDonald’s has better customer service than Hilton. P.S. Get with the times and provide Netflix in your rooms at the very least.

However, the room service closed an hour earlier than listed on our wedding night, they didn’t know any of their gluten free options and flat out lied to us about there not being a couch in their online photos of the room. The couch was then brought into our room but it was aggravating to deal with. I probably won’t stay here again but for someone coming in from out of town I’m sure it’s lovely!

- williamaO4631ZN (4/5): A Letdown - I booked a room at the Canopy to surprise my partner for our first anniversary, with plans to visit the Solus Spa and enjoy the sunset from the rooftop. Unfortunately, when I checked in, I found out the spa had been closed for weeks due to construction—something not mentioned on Hilton's official pages, which still linked to spa bookings. The staff were polite and apologetic, but the outdated info ruined a big part of the surprise. We tried to make the most of the evening by exploring the hotel, which has stylish decor and interesting lobby art. The room itself was beautifully designed, but one of the two bath towels was ripped as shown, which made me question the attention to detail that went into preparing the room for our stay. I understand that mistakes like these can go unnoticed, but considering that I had spent nearly $400 for what is advertised as one of the best hotels in the Twin Cities, with an open, accessible rooftop spa, I expected much better. Overall, The Canopy by Hilton was a letdown for a special occasion I had carefully planned.

They said sorry it’s under construction now, even though the pictures online show the pool. Also read reviews they charge for the spa pool anyways extra, I went to watershed instead to be able to sit in a pool. Also parking is about 50 bucks per day in the hotel it’s not included and they’re stingy with the valdation passes even though you pay 50 dollars a day. They would only give me three when I checked in, you need one everytime you leave the garage and I was staying for four nights, had to keep going to the desk for more, if you’re paying an arm and a leg for parking idk why they do that, the guy when I checked said this is all I have sorry and everytime after they would only give me a couple, not even worth the hassle here.

- JuanCarlos (4/5): - We were disappointed with our recent stay. Upon arrival, there was no greeting or welcome from the front desk staff. After checking in, we were only told how to access our room—no information was given about the fitness center, WiFi, or nearby dining options. While the room itself was clean and comfortable, we had specifically booked this hotel for the spa and rooftop, which turned out to be under construction—something not mentioned anywhere on the website. That lack of transparency really soured the experience. We also dined at the hotel restaurant, Umbra, and asked to have the fire pit turned on next to us, only to find out it wasn’t working. Small details like that added up and made the stay feel lackluster. Had we known key amenities were unavailable, we would’ve gladly paid a bit more to stay elsewhere. This review is not aimed at Hotels.com, but we hope it can be passed along to Canopy so they can improve the guest experience—especially for those visiting Minneapolis for the first time.

We could also hear the neighbors above us talking until 2 AM. At that time I called the Front Desk and they sent security upstairs, however, it didn’t help. The noise continued until 4 AM which was a nightmare.

Cool vibe, well thought out drink holder on the outside and immediate inside of the door so you can put down your coffee, key in, bring in your suitcase, grab your coffee, put it down immediately inside the door, and bring in your suitcase/bags and shut the door seamlessly. Bathroom was spacious and motion sensor nightlight incredibly well thought out. Not well thought out is the handle jutting out over the coffee station so when you’re making coffee and you’re not careful, it will gouge your head. Some super gross dust balls accumulated on the large beam over the window and within reach. Not sure how housekeeping missed those. Obviously have been there a while.

However, they have extremely loud live music on friday and saturday nights until 11 PM in the bar on the ground floor that is audible in, essentially, every single room due to the open air atrium. A weird choice for a hotel. Acoustic music, sure. Loud, amplified music is disrespectful to the guests who have paid you, first and foremost, for a place to relax and sleep.
