The rooms were very comfortable, and always clean. The all inclusive package was great value. It would have been great to have at least one other beer available as an option as part of the package but otherwise the bars were well stocked. The food was absolutely incredible, with a diverse range of cuisines that were full of flavor! A real home away from home.

• juliettemR5067YY (10/5): 10000/10 - I absolutely loved this holidays, the resort is beautiful, delicious food, amazing tours with good prices (i would recommend not to book in advanced from home since the prices here are much better than what i searched for online) but the best of all ik the resort is definitely the staff, every single one if them is absolutely incredibly amazing and friendly!!! and also one big compliment from my side goes to Latifa!!! arghhh such a gorgeous and sweet angel, her vibe is fantastic, the way she cares and look out for the guests is very professional and sweet, i believe she has the ability to even make counting stones into an incredible adventure and make it exciting:) another big compliment i want to say to Miriam ahh also a sweet and lovely angel the way she offers help with such an empathy is soo beautiful and definitely to look out for, the way she talks to the guest with such a confidence is really something i look up to:) would recommend this resort for everybody. p.s the beach itself is not really good for swimming since the low/high tide but you can for sure relax and still enjoy many other possibilities with 3 big pools, amazing bars everywhere and good vibes
• Vickylinch (8/5): Go with an open mind - Nice hotel, the beach is a let down, but there is nothing that can be done about that. The staff are mainly nice and polite, some do not understand a small measure of spirits and think its funny to give a double double measure, which is not pleasant. The food is a let down, often cold and greasy, but wouldnt complain as its the way they do it. The biggest thing was finding meat in my onion soup, thankfully i am not a vegitarian. The rooms are nice with a nice shower, everything cleaned daily. The staff come round on an evening and turn the bed down plus spray the room for insects. It was a enjoyable holiday.

The resort has a calm and relaxing atmosphere, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the buffet meals offered good variety and quality throughout our stay. It is also very good value for money. However, what truly made this stay feel special was the outstanding hospitality of the restaurant and service staff. Their kindness, professionalism and warm personalities lifted our experience every single day. A very special thank you to Daudi, who was exceptional in his service and in the way he connects with people — he is truly an asset to the hotel. Also our appreciation to Happy for her joyful spirit, and Miriam for her calm, friendly and supportive presence. In addition, we would like to thank: Xyra Mary, Nathaniel, Gladys (Trainee), Chris, Hassan, Benedict, Asia (Trainee), Maryam, Green Prince, Amina, Haysam, Muhammad, and Florence. Each of you contributed to making our stay feel warm, personal, and memorable. We also thank Johan (General Manager) for taking the time to speak with us, for listening, and for being visibly involved in the guest experience. His presence makes a difference. Room for Improvement The only area where we felt improvement is needed is at the reception / front desk. Staff here should be more empowered to make reasonable and flexible decisions, especially during check-out. A small increase in discretion and guest-focused problem solving would raise the overall experience from very good to excellent. Overall A beautiful resort with truly wonderful staff who made us feel welcomed and cared for. We left with warm memories — and we would happily return.

Johan's team are fantastic, always responding quickly to any queries (special shout out to Sandra who couldn't have done more to enhance our stay). Great facilities, bars and restaurants - our favourite was the Asian restaurant but all the food was great. I don't remember walking past a single member of staff without being greeted with a smile and "Jambo, Jambo" - thanks John - your team live and breath the Zanzibar "Caribu Sana"

• D4976GHjanets (10/5): Booked again - Just arrived back home from Zanzibar Bay Hotel. Absolutely recommend, the staff cannot do enough for you. Thank you to Daudi the food and beverage Manager, who assisted with my pescatarian palate. The choice of food was fabulous even for the mega picky. The other restaurants and bars were lovely with plenty of choice for drinks within the all inclusive package. The peir bar and seating within the sea it was gorgeous. Bedrooms were very comfortable with adequate facilities. All in all it met more than expectations, and have already booked for another holiday. Don't miss a day safari or Stone Town for Freddie Mercury fans, along with a beautiful Tanzanite jewelers across from his museum where treats are plentiful (save up first).

Its location by the sea and the pier, with its covered open bar and sundeck at the end, makes it comfortable even in warm weather. The rooms have a retro style, which reduces comfort. Hard chairs and an uncomfortable sofa. The restrooms are clean, but a bit outdated. The food is tasty and varied. For multi-day excursions outside the resort, you must check out. Upon your return, there's no guarantee you'll get the same room. Our check-in after one such excursion took six and a half hours. Zanzibar is a unique experience. We had a wonderful holiday.

• ArmitageFamily4 (8/5): Brilliant hotel with friendly staff - The hotel and it's surroundings are absolutely beautiful. The rooms are spotless and are cleaned twice a day, on an evening they come in and sort the mosquito net out and spray it with bug spray (although they didn't do this on our last night). The food at the main restaurant is great, there's a large selection of hot and cold food with a variety of cuisines - spring rolls for breakfast is not something I've ever had before! We also tried both the Indian and Asian restaurants, which were both delicious. The only criticism I have is that I'm not sure what chemicals are put into the pool, but it dyes everything yellow, including your skin. We also had two men trying to get into our room one night, we were in bed for 9pm as we were getting up at 3am for a safari, they were trying every key (luckily we kept our key in the door to prevent anyone getting in) and one of them put on a woman's voice and shouted 'housekeeping' which was strange. Myself and my partner were both half asleep at this point. Turns out they just needed to fit a smoke alarm in the room, which they could have done at any point throughout the day but decided to do it at 9pm. Besides from this, the jetty is a beautiful addition to the hotel with some amazing views. The tide does come in and out, but we expected this when booking. There are a lot of people on the beach trying to sell tours, massages and hair braiding but we didn't buy anything - we also didn't sit on or near the beach as it got a little too much being asked constantly, which was a shame. However, this doesn't take away from how nice the people are though, everyone is super friendly. We booked everything through TUI and had no issues at all with this process.

Helpful staff, trusty airport transfers, great food choices, and lively entertainment! When we returned from Safari and changed rooms we didnt have any hot water, this was resolved in less than an hour! 👌🏼

• 944maureenw (2/5): No help when I fell seriously ill beware if you don’t have international insurance - I stayed at Zanzibar Bay Resort & Spa in July 2025 for a solo trip, and it turned into a nightmare. On my second day, I fell violently ill after lunch — high fever, body aches, shivering, headache, and diarrhea. I was severely dehydrated and genuinely feared for my life. I went to the resort’s clinic, hoping for urgent help. The nurse checked my BP and said I likely had an infection but refused to treat me unless I paid USD 150 upfront. I didn’t have international insurance, only coverage back home, and asked if I could get basic pain relief while I sorted things out. He declined, even though he gave painkillers to another guest with an earache right in front of me. I left untreated and had to walk outside the resort to find a pharmacy and later a private clinic, where I was admitted for the afternoon and finally received proper care. Later that evening, I met Chris from guest relations, who was sympathetic I informed him of my decision to extend my stay as I needed to recover. He shared my concerns with the current room I was in and the illness that I suffered with his team, and I was upgraded to a suite he also informed the head chef who offered to prepare special meals and herbal teas to help me recover. I appreciated that, but the initial neglect at the clinic was unacceptable. Warning to travelers: If you don’t have international insurance, be extremely cautious. The resort clinic may refuse to help you in a medical emergency unless you pay upfront. This experience was traumatic and could have ended much worse.
• 246sharont (6/5): A forgettable experience - We have just returned from what should have been a dream holiday. If you are under the impression this Hotel has a 4 star rating - you’d be wrong. 3 star at best. Some refurbishment is most definitely required. Works to walkways and a patio area were being carried out below our room during our stay - some floor tiling going on until after 1am. Our ‘all inclusive’ deal was not as expected and have experienced in previous holidays. Little extras - I.e. ice cream were to be paid for. Beach towels were provided - threadbare and bleach stained. Our bedding was changed the first week but the 2nd week we left the card out and it was ignored for 2 days till we went to reception to complain and it was done immediately. Staff were mostly very friendly and polite, however, whipping your plate away not only while you were on your last mouthful but also while your companion was halfway through their meal, is not acceptable. All food is buffet style on ‘hot plates’ however in the main restaurant, it was very repetitive and was always served lukewarm even after being brought out of the kitchen to replenish. The 2 on-site ‘a la carte’ restaurants were very inviting, the food was good (not hot as usual) but tasty. I could go on …
• Travel_Queen_Fun_Pla (10/5): Amazing experience - Beautiful resort, friendly sraff always willing to go an extra mile, relaxing environment good entertainment. After I booked i read a few reviews about the beaches not being very good for swimming but when I got there I found it not so. When the tide is in the beaches are completely accessible and the water was amazing we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the excursions were done at the resort were very good. Thank you to the staff for being so amazing and accommodating.

• M4128RTingridg (10/5): A very nice relaxing place to stay! - I liked the lovely resort, many nice places, bars, 3 restaurants, delicious food and drinks, 3 pools, very friendly staff. What a great pity that ebb was for a long daytime, but the hotel offers a free shuttle to the lovely Kiwengwa Beach, 30 minutes alway!
• LordNoelie (10/5): Zanzibar, Wonderful Zanzibar - We had a fantastic stay at Zanzibar Bay Resort and Spa, we used this hotel as our base to travel around the Island and to visit all the all the well known tourist attractions and many not so well known. The hotel staff were amazing super friendly and couldn't do enough to help and make our stay as good as possible. A special mention to the Animation Team who were smiles all day and never stopped providing fun, humour and an opportunity to see and try different things. We loved the Jetty Bar area, great way to enjoy a Sundowner. As per other reviews the beach is blighted by sea grass and the famous Zanzibar tides mean the sea goes out a long way, this did not impact us in any way, loads of amazing famous white sand beaches only a few minutes away either by taxi or the hotel shuttle bus. Ensure you bring sea shoes and you can enjoy the low tides and do some exploring in the bay. We found an amazing local guide (Eddie) who helped us get around and made our visit to Zanzibar all the more special, make sure you look out for him on the beach. Thanks to all at Zanzibar Bay Resort and Spa, looking forward to seeing you all again before too long.
• bdecamp38 (6/5): Nice resort but few issues/items to report - Typical huge resort for mass tourism. kindness is everywhere and people are there to make your journey the best possible and will be ready to serve in case of... but few issues to report: - some parts of the resort can miss water very quickly: take your shower as soon as possible at the end of the day - no triple room in zanzibar bay resort. if offered by your travel agency take care. they will add a convertible bed or a cot...not luxuary standard... - the beach is nice but covered of seaweed. swimming here is not cool... - no snorkling here in case you were wondering. you will need to go north (45 min drive) but there, it will be over crowded... To conclude, nice for 2 days to rest after a safari trip but definitly not the paradisiac spot you may look for...
• RobP-JulieP (2/5): A must avoid hotel in Zanzibar - This hotel has the potential to be really good. However it is a gamble whether you make you trip without becoming ill. We later found that they have a doctor permanently on site. There are some very nice touches to the resort. The pier and jetty bar open 24 hours is really good. The locals on the beach are very friendly. You certainly feel like you are experiencing Zanzibar. The tour and excursion staff are really helpful and are an asset to the location. Provided us with 2 great excursions that were truly memorable. Sal is the guy to go to. So friendly and not pushy at all. Fantastic experience. The food looked and tasted good however after becoming I’ll with a stomach upset that lasted 10 days and required antibiotics we started to notice that the hygiene standards were lacking and needed attention. We did visit the reception team to enquire about medical assistance and the staff member laughed and made fun to her colleagues of our situation. The tables were dusted down with the dirty napkins from previous guests and no cleaning products used at all. The glasses were only swilled with water before reusing. The heat lamps in the food court were replaced whilst we were there as they were of no use and served as purely decorative effect. The food in the snack bar definitely needs avoiding as it is Luke warm with no temperature management and for meat this is less then adequate. We later observed bar staff getting ice from reused coke bottles that they had used to create ice. They broke the bottles to release the frozen water. Shocking. There was some extensive work underway and the building noise continued for the whole duration of our stay. Later when we raised this with the hotel management team they informed us that they had not been made aware of any of the issues that we had raised with the TUI rep. They actually said they could have taken us to a remote island for a break if they had been made aware. Some of the staff were very rude and seemed to be there to enjoy themselves rather than entertaining guests. We actually witnessed some bar staff ridiculing a guest that was dancing. The sun-beds around the pool needed attention and had quite a few faults. At one stage we touched a handrail on the way to our room and it collapsed leaving us with a potential drop from the 1st floor. The hotel is in a great location but I would not recommend visiting as it is just not worth the hassle and pay a bit more to go to a better quality resort.

• Alyssa (8/5): Very good hotel (with some trade-offs) - This hotel was very good. I really enjoyed my stay. The service was pretty good including the reception attendants, bartenders, and waiters. The breakfast was also tasty with a wide selection. The biggest issue is the location. It is far from the touristy areas and the beach is covered in algae and is very shallow. But honestly, I didn't mind saving money on this hotel and spending more on transport and excursions. I went to Prison Island and there was a beautiful beach there plus the free shuttle bus took me to a really nice beach ten minutes away. I did have a small issue with my bed, but it was fixed literally the next day. I highly recommend this place especially if you don't mind the distance from Stone Town (40 min away). If you're doing a shorter trip, you might want to stay someplace more conveniently located.
• Verified traveler (10/5): - This was a nice resort on Zanzibar. The facilities were certainly good for East African standards. This is actually two resorts (soon to be three) combined. The reception is actually on the side called "Paradise Bay Resort," but you have full access to both sides. The pool shown in the picture is in Zanzibar Bay Resort, and is more relaxing (and shallower) than the one on the other side. The Paradise Bay one is blue, and has a 3 meter deep portion. It is also has more trees blocking the view of the ocean. The beach is not very good here. Due to the bay, it is full of seaweed, and the tide comes in close to the wall. Smartly, they have a free shuttle to another piece of beach up the coast, which is beautiful. It was much quieter and cheaper on their main facility. If you are there for long, I recommend getting on the free shuttle and spending every day at the other beach. Massages there were super cheap, and they had food and drinks (not included, if you are "all inclusive", but we awere a la carte). The staff was nice and very professional. You pay for everything using your room number/wrist band and signature. I did have one instance of a staff member offering to give me free drinks in exchange for paying cash for the rest of the bill, but that can happen at any resort, not just in East Africa. I hope the Dutch owners pay their people enough to make up for the fact that it is very inconvenient to tip them. We would have liked more local food at the a la carte restaurant.
