Guest Reviews
- Kelly (10/5): - Hame Hotel is in Dunvegan, so it's a bit out of the way from Portree (where most people stay). That turned out to be a blessing - our area was quiet, free from traffic, and still convenient to many sights like the Fairy Pools, Talisker Distillery, Dunvegan Castle, and the Three Chimneys restaurant. By contrast, Portree was a nonstop traffic jam, even in September. Our room was comfortable, and breakfast was filling and tasty. We didn't have dinner at the hotel because we failed to make a reservation - keep that in mind if you want to get dinner here, Skye has a lot more tourists than locals, which means things can fill up quickly.
- Robin (8/5): - The welcome was warm, the room was spacious, the common area was lovely, the on your honor bar was an unexpected & nice feature. The bathroom was a little tired, the breakfast was good & staff friendly.
- xuan lan (10/5): - Nice and comfortable room, the property was easy to locate, and the owners were friendly and accomodating.
- Kimberly (10/5): - This is small hotel in the countryside and is absolutely lovely. The staff could not be more friendly and accommodating.
- Thomas (8/5): - Helpful staff and small hotel charm
- Marcie and Brad (10/5): - Chef dinner and breakfast included.
- samantha (10/5): - We loved this hotel. It was in a quiet area, easy to find, and while their resturaunt was closed the night we arrived, staff provided great recomendations nearby. The hotel is comvenient for Dunvegan castle and fairy pools. We had a car situation and had to wait for service to come tow us and staff were incredibly flexible and allows us to stay slightly passed checkout. The hotel is comfortable, and has amazing kind and helpful staff. I especially liked the cows living next door, they werent highlands, but fun to watch graze around. We were very happy with our stay and loved the space.
- Hybre (10/5): - The staff is friendly and helpful. The decor is lovely and updated and the bed was very comfortable. the on site restaurant is very convenient and the breakfast was top notch!
- Clare (10/5): - Really nice place to stay with thoughtful touches such as lovely smell of jasmine when you walk in. Stylish and cosy and breakfast was amazing. Quite remote but worth the drive. Hope to return!
- Johanne (10/5): Away from crowded areas while easy access to them - Located in quiet area, friendly owner/ staff
- Abbie (10/5): - Quaint Hotel, really delicious breakfast, cozy and quiet
- John (10/5): Excellent stay in a beautiful area. - We only stayed one night (booked 2 nights on the other side of Skye). We should have done it the other way around. Beautiful natural area with great things to see. Owners are super nice and helpful and the hotel was quite nice (especially for the price!!!). We would definitely stay here again.
- Nicole (10/5): - Beautiful, peaceful, delicious food. Hope
to return.
- Chad (8/5): - My wife and I really enjoyed staying here for one night. It was very convenient location staying on the west side of the isle. I would definitely stay here again. Shout out to Brooke for being so hospitable and being a good person.
- Reuben Blake (10/5): Probably the best in Skye - We stayed at Hame for 2 nights while visiting Skye. Hosts were extraordinary, breakfast and dinner were more akin to a 5 star restaurant, and the honesty bar was great in the evening when you wanted to wind down. I can't express how good the value of this experience was - make sure you stay before the place becomes too popular!
- Kirsten (10/5): - Absolutely wonderful two nights at the Hame. Staff, accommodation, room and dinning experience was outstanding.
Can’t wait to come back - we loved our time!
Plus they take dogs which is fabulous.
Breakfast and dinner was delicious with fresh produce and gorgeously prepared.
- Colleen (10/5): - Amazing highly recommend our favorite of the three places we stayed
- Robin (8/5): Modern and clean - Really cute place. I felt like the pictures were a little confusing. I thought our room was going to have view of the water but we had a view of the parking lot. The room was comfortable and modern but a little bare with a very small TV. They seemed a little light on staff, we only met the one lovely young lady. She checked us in and served us breakfast. Breakfast was great. I really liked the honor bar and it was pretty close to an area with a few restaurants. The common area was cute.
- Sonia (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay with best dinner and breakfast on the Isle of Skye. The staff was amazing.
- Bettina (8/5): - Mit Liebe geführtes Gästehaus mit köstlicher Küche. Guter Ausgangspunkt für Besichtigung von Neist Point und Talisker Distillery.
- Anna Karin (10/5): Man vill stanna mer än en natt! - Mycket hemtrevligt. Ljust och fint möblerat.
Mycket tillmötesgående personal.
Ligger lite off, vilket skapar en lugn och skön stämning. Man vill stanna mer än en natt!
- Kristina (8/5): - We rented a room for one night at this location. The room and bathroom are very clean! The bed was confortable. Complimentary waters, coffees teas and shortbreads are available in the room. We missed breakfast but it does come with a stay! Downsides are that there is no parking so you do need to drive around looking for a spot or park in the public car park which is about 1/2 mile down the street (free). The room was pretty small but bc we only spent one night it wasn’t an issue for us. If you have a lot of luggage it will be tight!
- Brett (6/5): Nice Hotel on Skye - Nice Hotel, a little away from the area that we intended to explore (The Old Man of Storr) and next time would book closer to there. Lovely outlook onto estuary unfortunately did not have a room with a view. The restaurant closes on Monday nights (when we were there) and whilst other places to eat in the area it means you had to go out again after a long day travel. Were a bit disappointed at this. Also this property had a part non-refundable deposit if cancelled at any time, and whilst I was aware of this would not do again.
- James (10/5): - Beautiful stay, a lot of thought and effort was put into the furnishings and it was we greatly appreciated!
- Dan (8/5): - Very nice stay for one night. Helpful staff and very friendly.
- Sara (10/5): NC500 stop off - Just one night here on our NC500 / really lovely welcome- just before kitchen closed - phew ! Food was lovely in the evening and also for breakfast -
Small choice as everything was fresh-
Lovely staff
- Ravi (6/5): wasted our one night - no one was there to check us in at 9 pm.
very small room with twin bed.
shower was small and uncomfortable
pictures are deceiving.
- Kiersten (10/5): - This is a place you go for peace and quiet. It's in the middle of nowhere, but has excellent food and drinks on site
- Nicholas (10/5): - Room was very comfortable. The staff were wonderful, very accommodating with our infant daughter. The breakfast and dinner options were delicious.
- Judi (10/5): - This was a perfect place to stay if you want a true Skye experience! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I especially loved the communal space and breakfast!
- Gerri (10/5): - Beautiful scenery just outside of town. On-site breakfast. Quiet and peaceful.
- Syd (10/5): Tasteful, intimate and warm haven - We chose Hame for its fairly central to Skye, but not-in-a-town location, and were not disappointed. The drives to and from it were stunning, the complimentary breakfast and optional dinner were top-notch, the staff was friendly, the nearby town of Dunvegan had plenty of food options, and we could day trip to hikes and sights like Point Neist & The Fairy Pools. The one bummer is that the management decided to book small bus tour groups Thurs-Sunday, in a small place like this that meant they dominated the dining room, but we went and ate in the living room or on the porch (see photo of view)
- Robert (6/5): - Reception very helpful. Room not good. Not a king bed, as represented. No a/c and no fan. No screen on windows. Midges everywhere on inside of windows. No wash cloths. Mirror in bathroom over toilet, not sink. Large group was noisy and up late making noise. Reception left at 8:00 pm and guests were on their own.
- Debra (10/5): - Absolutely a Wonderplace. Extremely inviting and accommodating owners. The meals were extraordinary. Loved our stay. The evening drink on the deck was unforgettable. Definitely try the back and blue burger, it was the best we have had in years. The rooms are clean, decorated elegantly and inviting. We highly recommend this establishment.
- Waltraud (6/5): Nice spot - The hotel is in a nice spot and in nordic style. Unfortunately our room was looking to the back of a trailer and pretty small. The hotel is very poorly soundproofed so you hear showers, toilets and people talking. Bathroom was ok and towel warmer was great. Breakfast was good, the service overall good, friendly and competent. Internet was off and on
- david (8/5): - Nice place to stay. Quick check in. Comfortable clean room. The only issue i had was i couldn't seem to get hot water one of the days. Breakfast was excellent.
- Shannon (10/5): - Clean, quiet, comfortable, and excellent food! The chef helped us book our ferry tickets and recommended a place to eat in Oban.
- Carol (10/5): Unique small hotel on Skye - Great place close to Dunvegan Castle and Neist Point with a very relaxed feel about it. Run by lovely people who are very friendly. Hot breakfast choice is great, dinner is good too. As it is quite remote the honesty bar in the comfortable lounge is nice for the evenings.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fraser - Wonderful stay. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Hotel was great and just what we wanted. That is except the rain and wind, but it was late December on Skye!
- Sarah (10/5): - Really cute and cozy place
- susan a (10/5): - Nice clean rooms. Good communication with the staff.
- Brittany (10/5): - Excellent experience!! Highly recommend! The hotel was extremely cozy and welcoming! The staff was very nice and inviting. The food was so yummy and the options were great. Loved the Honesty Bar and just the entire setup! Loved our stay and would come back without a doubt.
- Linda (10/5): Great food, quiet and convenient! - Wonderful 2 nights - great breakfast, great pizza, large room, on-your-honor-bar was a nice touch. Perfect for exploring the Trotternish Loop!
- Kenneth (10/5): - Great base for exploring the island was a fine weekend would come back again
- Kathleen (10/5): Lovely stay and view - Wonderful stay. Hotel is adorable and the view off the porch is amazing. Honor bar for the win! Only thing to note is that a “king” bed in Scotland is much smaller than a king in the USA. More like a Queen. This has been the case with every place we’ve booked, so I don’t think it’s specific to this location. Great breakfast!
- Cheryl (10/5): - Beautiful peaceful setting. Must have a car though.
- Yan (10/5): - Very friendly staff, great breakfast. We enjoyed the evening drinking time in its self served bar in the hotel.
Dinning in nearby village can be a bit inconvenient if one didn't book it in advance during high season
- Katelyn (10/5): Great place to stay! - We stayed here for one night while we drove around Isle of Skye. The staff was beyond friendly and went above and beyond (they even mailed back a pair of shoes I left there!). We would definitely stay here again!
- Claire (10/5): - Lovely place to stay
- Aislinn (8/5): Beautiful remote location - Very pleasant stay. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It was quite sparsely furnished, for the price point it would be nice if they had a comfortable chair to sit on (there was a wooden desk chair) and hotel slippers would be a nice touch.
Otherwise very good, breakfast was nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is very nice and fantastic location. Excellent breakfast and dinner. Very clean apart from the bedroom floor that would have done with some better cleaning. Bathroom spotless. The staff was all very nice and made us feel very welcoming and at home. Would highly recommend
- Megan (10/5): Hame away from Hame - This place is great! Very stylish, comfortable and the hosts were great. Really good food for a comfort eat and sit by the fire.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Hame away from hame (but with better cooking) - Delicious food and warm, comfortable lounge for guests to use. Rooms were a little dirty, however (pink mildew/mould on shower curtain, and some sort of a liquid had been running down bedroom wall, but was dried in to leave dirty marks).
- Richard (10/5): Fantastic - My second visit to the Hame this year. Friendly staff and excellent facilities
- N (10/5): - Great hotel, quiet location and very friendly staff. Good breakfast
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Service was great. Attendants so friendly! Hotel very modern but cozy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very nice welcoming hotel, lovely with our dog too - Easy to find and dog friendly.Rooms comfortable and food excellent
- J (10/5): - Fantastic hidden gem along one’s travels. Well worth the stay and the food was delicious. Very modern and fresh.
