Guest Reviews
- Lisa (10/5): idyllic location with world class staff. If you want the perfect eco lodge this is your paradise - Fantastic location.Superb staff. A quiet place to retreat, refresh and renew. Loved the food, cocktails and canapes by the fire overlooking a pristine view of the beach and the adjacent island. Great massages! booked two over 5 days. Starry night time sky. (no night spill!) Scuba equipment all included. Kayaking was so good! Salt water pool could have been heated. NO hot tub.

- Colleen (9/5): Amazing staff, exceptional food & peaceful - Beautiful, relaxing, all one could ask for. Not one thing
- Jonathan (10/5): -
- Annie (9/5): - Seclusion, eco, friendly and relaxed vibe. Beautiful scenery and amazing food
- Michael (10/5): Perfection - Staff were amazing, location was extraordinary
Facilities were excellent, Food was delicious
Ultimate private getaway N/A
- Cathryn (10/5): Exceptional - Location, amazing food, attentive staff Nothing !
- Christian (10/5): - Very relaxing trip and clean rooms. The staff were amazing and the food incredible.
- Julie (10/5): Relaxing stay with exceptional food in a beautiful location - Beautiful secluded location only 20 mins boat ride away. AMAZING food, lovely rooms and very friendly helpful staff Shower by the pool would be handy
- Andriy (10/5): -
- Noelle (10/5): Wonderful holiday with caring staff at a great location. - Good food, drinks and access to spa and optional trips. Everything taken care of and your own villa means it’s quiet and not too many guests at once. Nothing
- Courtney (10/5): -
- Danielle (8/5): Intimate relaxed atmosphere with superb food and beautiful guests - Remote boutique intimate and exclusive Needs to have more excursions
- Deaves (7/5): An island getaway is a wonderful thing, but Elysian, you can do better. - The location is quiet island perfection The cabin was a bit basic and worn. If this was located anywhere else, it would be not be considered luxurious.
The set meal times were quite limiting, particularly breakfast and coffee being served only from 8.30am.
- TIM (9/5): Great location for relaxing and eating food! - Blissful & peaceful location You have to enjoy doing not a lot
- Tess (10/5): -
- Luke (10/5): Idyllic stay at beautiful little resort - Amazing idyllic location, wonderful friendly staff, exceptional food tailored to our needs, peaceful and relaxing, kayaks and paddleboats for use at not cost - lots of turtles in the water! Loved it. No real complaints - if the pool was heated in winter that would be amazing, but that’s a bit much to ask!
- Janine (10/5): -
- Dogukan (10/5): -
- Jessica (10/5): 10/10 says it all - would highly recommend a stay here - Secluded and small retreat. The service was relaxed, personal and exceptional. The food was delicious and healthy but you had plenty to eat. Honestly such a wonderful experience overall. There’s no gym - a small fitness centre would be a great addition. This wasn’t a huge downside and not everyone wants to work out as it’s such a lovely place to relax but I had to pick something.
- Michael (10/5): - We absolutely loved our short-stay (too short) at Elysian. Everything was just perfect. The private island is so peaceful and tranquil. The activities available are plentiful and nature oriented. The food is just divine - every meal was beautifully prepared with the freshest ingredients and meant we did not have to worry about a thing. The cherry on top is the service - each staff member (Alice, Emily, and Nathan in particular) was delightful and attentive, and would do everything in their power to make our stay even more special. We cannot recommend Elysian more highly - we will definitely be coming back!
- Marc (10/5): - Awesome Food
- Bowen (10/5): - Amazing service! Very secluded! Peaceful! Need to book transport to get to the island beside the resort! It needs to be booked separately!
- Sian (10/5): Simply perfect - Barefoot luxury. Incredibly unique property which feels secluded, yet luxurious and relaxed. The staff are incredible. Nothing.
- Sally (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elise (10/5): - It was so beautiful. The staff were amazing, the food was delicious, we had the best time.
- Sara (10/5): - Elysian Luxury Eco Island retreat was absolutely Amazing! The property was beautiful with all elements for our stay. The staff were amazing and very friendly they provided anything we asked them with out hesitate.
All the food was delicious. There is activities to do in the island or outside the island.
- Seana (10/5): - Can’t say enough good things about this resort! Book it and pay for the short helicopter ride to the resort from the Hamilton Island airport…worth the expense! Resort will arrange the flight for you and will assist with luggage storage. Resort staff was amazing, meals were delicious, nice wine selection. Absolutely no complaints about our 3 night stay other than it wasn’t long enough. Do take bug spray as the Midge bites are no joke.
- Sarah (7/5): It was lovely, staff were pleasant but lacked attention to detail - We had the end but with the pool! Needed a bit more variety with food! And things to do as we wanted to do the cooking class with the chef but was told they don’t do that anymore, despite it being in the book, so we decided to have a massage but was fully booked, very limited
Unfortunately weather didn’t help the situation as it wasn’t great
- Alex (4/5): Beautiful place, great staff, incredible food but beware…too many insects which sadly made it uncomfortable - Beautiful location, staff were amazing. Infested with midges. Even with layers of spray, came home with over 200 bites all over my body. Cant swim in the water between October and May either without a stinger suit on.
- Phillipe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kim (8/5): Very good -
- Suthers (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alida (10/5): Utterly wonderful - Excellent customer service & very inclusive
Amazing food & amazing service ( thanks to the chefs & the team)
Insightful and informative Memorable stay. A direct transfer connection from the island to Hamilton Island or vice versa would be great.
- Robert (10/5): Highly recommend - The team were great - very friendly and attentive. The vibe of the resort is lovely - small and intimate with amazing food through breakfast/lunch/dinner. Their tour to whitsundays is worth every penny and they cater for everything to make it enjoyable and comfortable. Would highly recommend!
- Katherine (10/5): Amazing relaxation away from the rest of the world - Staff were great.
Food was amazing.
Location was truly idyllic.
Can’t wait for the next time, we’ll definitely be coming back! Nothing at all. We loved our stay
- Mackenzie (10/5): Perfect! - What wasn’t to like about this place! I went here with my husband on our honeymoon, and we rented the villa with the plunge pool. What an amazing time we had! Every meal was fantastic, the staff was so friendly, and it was the perfect place to unwind and relax.
- Wimmler (6/5): Pleasant - The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The chefs were amazing, each meal was so delicious and was of great quality. The rooms were nice and spacious. It rained the entire stay. Apart from getting massages, there was not many options for indoor activities. For the price that you pay to stay, it would have been nice if the transport to get there and back to Shute Harbour was included or not as expensive as it was
We initially booked for 5 nights but we ended up only staying 2 nights.
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Meda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (10/5): The best place I have ever stayed - Beautiful secluded huts on the beach, small resort which makes it so much better. The views are amazing and the amazing free activities keep you busy during the day. The food was out of this world, couldn’t recommend more. Nothing
- Pallas (10/5): The Retreat We Didn't Know We Needed - This gem of a retreat was exactly what me and my husband needed after a rough year. We stayed in December at the height of the wet season. It rained at various levels 3 out of the 4 days we were there but that did not affect our experience in the least. I believe it added to it. Soon after arriving I booked not 1 but 2 spa sessions; a massage and the next day a salt scrub. I felt so rejuvenated! One should not miss out on the spa experience. The staff was very welcoming and attentive. I even did Yoga every morning because Eva made it enjoyable and I don't do Yoga. The rooms were very clean, well stocked (drinks, bug spray, sun block, etc.) and quite comfortable. We love that there are only 10 huts with a max of 20 adults. We lucked out and had the place to ourselves for the first 24 hours. More couples arrived in the days that followed and everyone was so lovely to get along with. We did a whole lot of nothing during our stay which is exactly why I booked Elysian. However, if you want to do some non-motorized water activities those are available along with some hiking. We enjoyed all the delicious 5 star meals and drinks! The property is a dream and we are looking forward to going back someday.
Note: We were able to take the amphibious boat in from Airlie Beach. If you are going in and out of Hamilton Island, you do need take a helicopter.
- Andy (10/5): Amazing stay - Wonderful stay at the Elysian. Everything was just perfect! From the amazing helicopter ride from the airport we couldn’t have asked for a more hospitable environment. The staff go above and beyond to make your stay as memorable as possible. The chefs also do a great job making delicious meals and every meal is different. This is all inclusive with a cherry on top. The bedrooms are huge, have super comfy beds, and all have that breathtaking view of the calm sea. We didn’t want to leave. We will be back!
- Sadri (10/5): Mind-blowing and relaxing! - Amazing stay, what a wonderful experience as part of our honeymoon. Staff is so helpful, food is outstanding (breakfast, lunch and dinner)! You feel at home in a cozy island close to the nature. Very exclusive, only 10 villas, 20 people maximum. The staff do their best to please you and everyone has smiley faces and try to do their maximum to please you.
The Whitehaven excursion with the hotel is amazing, the hotel's staff is here to assist you with sunshades, suncream, pic-nic and lunch, swim suites (stinger season), etc. they provide all the necessary tools and advices for you to enjoy this magic day at this paradisiac place.
Helicopter transfer is a must if you can afford it!!
Sad to leave! Not the fault of the resort: Unfortunately the beach (not really sandy, it's a rocky area like most of the islands in the Whitsundays) is currently not in the best condition due to past heavy rainfall which has created rockslides and piles of seaweed/leaves which are not very pleasant when you get into the water for water activities.
Constructive comment:
We understand the need to limit water consumption as the hotel draws its water resources from rainwater reserves, but it would be interesting to have a water point by the pool to clean yourself when you go out and come back in, especially after a swim in the sea water. Similarly, a small vase of water in front of the villa would be nice to avoid getting the villa floors dirty until you reach the bathroom.
- Ewelina (10/5): - Our stay here was incredible.
Romantic and relaxing. This place offers a little slice of paradise to unwind in.
The location is secluded and spectacular.
(Note you do need to book a transfer from Hamilton Island Airport, either two boats or via a 5 min helicopter flight - which is a lovely way to see the islands!)
The staff are all fantastic, a big thank you to Alice and the entire team. They are caring, attentive (no request was too hard) whilst ensuring you also have your space.
- Volodymyr (10/5): Elysian offers a serene, rejuvenating escape with exceptional hospitality, tropical vibes, and a rar - Elysian is a secluded, anti-crowded space offering serenity and tropical vibes throughout the stay. The 3-course meal that the chef meticulously crafts for every day, great attention to the staff, and relaxed neighbor guests in common areas make stay a rare experience. My goal was to unwind from busy city life and disconnect from daily routines while replenishing energy and enjoying doing nothing. Elysian was able to do so spectacularly.
The hosts make the whole experience unique and energizing, with a positive mood during every interaction. They also do SPA, which is another must-do while on this resort.
We didn't travel to the boat/helicopter tours, yet I've seen people coming and going on tours, and they shared that they find it an exciting addition to the stay.
After Elysian, it's hard to look at a classic hotel experience if the goal is to relax, enjoy the tranquility, and truly disconnect from the hassle. On the first night, the neighbors were listening to music that was heard within our bungalow, but it was only a brief moment, and to our luck - they departed the next day :)
- Lukasz (10/5): Paradise retreat - Beautiful place, surrounded by outstanding nature, excellent food and very friendly and helpful staff. We felt like at home Nothing
- Roberto (10/5): Exceptional - Cannot fault this place. From the incredible food to the attentive and kind staff, truly a phenomenal experience. The dinner was a standout, a delicious three-course meal that exceeded all expectations. The combination of impeccable service and exquisite cuisine made it an evening to remember. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting the ultimate relaxation and adventure experience.
- Tiago (10/5): Heaven on earth - Everything was absolutely perfect. Only 20 guests max on the island, there is a calm and peace with the nature that you cannot find some place else. The catering is absolutely fantastic and the staff is so nice, there are not enough words to show how much it all added to a perfect experience. Thank you so much to everyone at the retreat!! It was all perfect.
- Michael (10/5): - We found the whole experience on Elysian resort fantastic. The staff were so accommadating and friendly. The food and service was great.
- Lois (10/5): 10/10 hospitality and experience - The most amazing experience; the staff are attentive, friendly and make the whole stay so personalised to you. The location couldn’t be more beautiful and we loved the options for tours and trips with the resort.
- Mark (10/5): - The resort was very secluded, tucked away in a cove on Long Island with only 10 adult
couples to be at the resort. This resort is remote and that made it special.
The resort was clean and tidy with our rooms cleaned daily.
All the staff were really friendly and helpful.
The Yoga in the morning and afternoon was really good and the instructor was great she took her time to show us the moves needed.
The food was really tasty, the chief did great job.
Bar tender/s were quite chatty and friendly. keep that Licor 43 going :)_
There was enough to do if i need an activity with SUPs, kayaks, Chiliboats, swimming pool to float around on and a few walks can be done.
The helicopter flight was really cool way to get to the resort.
The manager of the resort was very friendly and helpful.
I would highly recommend the resort for a getaway.
Thank you, Elysian Resort and all staff, for a great relaxing 3 night stay.
- Olivia (10/5): Paradise!!! - It instantly feels homely yet far away from day to day life. We really enjoyed being with only a small group of guests, everyone (staff included) were friendly and great to chat to. The food and wine were delicious and every effort was gone to by the staff to make us feel special. Nothing
- Shaun James (10/5): - 11/10 this place is amazing! Of all the things in such an idyllic, serene, relaxing, secluded and beautiful place - the food was our highlight! Our activities focused around getting back for meals! Friendly and welcoming staff provided great service without being overbearing. We truly switched off for a few days and it was worth every cent.
- Spyridon (10/5): - Our stay at the Elysian was an unforgettable, all-inclusive, eco-friendly experience. Nestled on a pristine island, this hidden gem offers sustainable luxury surrounded by the best of what the Australia's Golden Coast nature has to offer.
We stayed in thoughtfully designed eco-bungalows with stunning water views of Paradise Bay. We enjoyed farm-to-table dining, relaxed by the excellent pool overlooking the water, and immersed in unique eco-friendly activities. One of our highlights was the island hike that took us to a hidden beach on the other side of Long island.
From guided snorkeling to kayaking to paddleboarding to sunrise yoga sessions, this eco-lodge offers something for everyone.
Thank you to ALL the fantastic staff at the Elysian that made our stayunforgetable.
- Tjaart (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kathy (10/5): Exceptional - Everything we stayed 3 nights seen whales turtles fish reef, managed to do a lot of the activities, food and staff exceptional, loved every bit.
The beds were like pillow clouds amazing.
- Gerard (10/5): - Superb property in stunning location. Staff were amazing. Villas lovely. Only issue was getting there from airport. Expedia web site said 18 min drive implying you could get a taxi. But only options were helicopter or boat, and both were expensive and in addition to the holiday cost.
- Nikolas (10/5): - Cannot recommend it more, best food, best place for a honeymoon!
- Sally (6/5): What a memorable week! - Everything! Not a thing I did not like!
- Peta (9/5): Superb - Amazing decor, clean rooms, beautiful food Would have been nice to have the option to dine separately on New Year’s Eve as opposed to having to sit at a long table with other guests.
- Louise (7/5): Not really 5 star resort - Small & isolated resort, they are moving forwards with sustainability issues - solar energy, no single use plastic (although several helicopter flights in & out each day can’t be good for carbon footprint)
Food amazing - different dishes each day and minimal food wastage
Lovely Magnesium pool Stony beach disappointing - not great for swimming/snorkling
The infrastructure is looking quite tired
Staff generally very helpful but not communicative enough with boat transfers
- Daksha (10/5): - An excellent relaxing stay in a beautiful resort with wonderful staff
- Qianli (10/5): Exceptional -
- Felicity (9/5): 5* Tropical escape! - Stunning location!! Truely a secluded island.
The chef prepared delicious meals, catering to requests and preferences willingly. The staff were so helpful and friendly. We loved our stay! Two very small things could’ve made our stay even better
There are 10 villas, so 20 guests but only 10 pool loungers… meaning a few days were spent shuffling between pool loungers when they were available, a little awkward.
The other thing was simply that we arrived during stinger season, so we would’ve liked to do above water activities.
We had kayaks and paddleboards which were great, but a small catamaran or similar could’ve helped make use of the water further
- Shannon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Allanah (10/5): Will be coming back - Intermit and relaxing. Staff were lovely, down to earth people. Food was sensation! Lovely villas. Private and homely
- Anna (10/5): Oh! I would love to come back! - This stay exceeded my expectations. The staff was very friendly and always helpful. It was a quiet but not boring place with good service and options for paddling, canoeing, or snorkeling with very good equipment. The 5.30 pre-dinner hour near the pool with canapes was a great idea. The food was a creative surprise every day, and the cook was more than perfect and had considered my food limitations. There were too many small details that made it so exceptional, for example, the surprise that the chocolates left on my pillow were lactose-free, the good quality complementary wines, the nice clean trail to another beach, the rainwater for showers and the environmentally friendly shampoos and creams offered in the villas. All were carefully planned for a comfortable stay, even for a single visitor.
- Gavin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vanessa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jessica (10/5): Every moment was like a dream I never wanted to wake up from! From the service to the food to the peaceful serenity of t - Private oasis where every little detail was thought of. Food was amazing, service was impeccable and the views were like a dream! Absolutely nothing!
- Ibrahim (9/5): Superb -
- Justin (10/5): Highlight of our trip - All inclusive - amazing staff
- Wiesner (9/5): If you want a remote island with a lot of analog downtime and great food, this is your place! - Staff were amazing, food was excellent When weather was poor there wasn’t much to keep us entertained, so a lot of reading!
- Daniel (10/5): Elysian transports you to a remote tropical island with luxurious amenities and incredible food! - Everything was incredible!! We came for our honeymoon and were blown away by the beautiful surroundings, friendly and welcoming staff, and the absolutely amazing food!!
- Disha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gemma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional - everything was perfect The food, staff and rooms and don’t forget about the spa services
Only thing I would have loved was to snorkel and swim from the beach
The food was so yummy and catered for all request
The helicopter ride was such a treat also Not having A beach
- Alison (9/5): Perfect for a quiet relaxing break. - Staff were fantastic and happy to be there, the location is stunning! Food was creative and tasty.
- Anonymous (7/5): Good -
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Anthony (7/5): Very tranquil but simply too remote and too difficult to do most things. - Very friendly helpful staff. Food consistently good. House wines. Eco friendly. Views. Mosquitoes. Not knowing what food was about to be served. No Wi-Fi in villas. Difficulty and cost of doing tours in the Whitsundays. Massive tidal range. Very rocky coastline. Toilet seat too small for the toilet and very loose. No key for the Villa and no safe.
- Paul (2/5): - Beautiful place when you get there. The booking and transfers desk are atrocious and incompetent
- Dylan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (9/5): A peaceful paradise, wonderful service and food and environmentally friendly. - the food was superb, varied and healthy and the staff were so friendly and accommodating.
From the moment we arrived we felt so peaceful and that we were on an island paradise remote from the hustle of other holiday resorts.
Did I forget to mention all the whales!! the hobie cat sailing boat wasn't able to be used and this would have been a wonderful location to sail.
- Novi (10/5): Definitely coming back and staying for longer - The food, the staff, location, everything was perfect
- Nina (10/5): One of the most relaxing holidays we’ve had! 😊 - Beautiful, intimate and quiet setting, staff were exceptionally helpful, kind & professional. All meals were amazing & bungalow tastefully appointed. Fabulous to see whales so close! Transfer boat crew were also fantastic.
- Micol (10/5): Welcome to Paradise - Everything was absolutely fantastic! The location, secluded and super relaxing, but with many activities to do if one is a bit more active. The staff which is super lovely, personal and extremely helpful (special mention for the help received when we had issues getting there due to a delay in our plane and for arranging our day trip to Whitehaven). The structure, luxurious even in the smallest details such as the amenities and decors. Really, a true paradise! Could not recommend it more. Nothing. Everything was perfect.
- Marianne (10/5): Beautiful, personal and relaxing. - I absolutely loved our stay at Elysian, everything was perfect. The staff in particular were always going above and beyond, personal customer service. I barely saw my glass empty, very attentive. In particular a big thank you to Lily and Tracey thank you for making our stay so comfortable and making our trip to the Whitsundays come true.
The food was incredible, forever changing menu.
The helicopter transfer was also a highlight. There’s really nothing not to like about Elysian, it’s an amazing resort,
If I had to pick hairs, we were asked at 9.10am to check out at 10am due to the hotel being busy with guests arriving which is understandable.
- Haylett (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paolo (10/5): Will come bacl - Remote place, not busy as they only have 10 room. Food was exceptional. Excursion were great.
- Leasa (9/5): What an adventure - The staff were amazing. They made sure we were comfortable, well fed and having a wonderful time. The food was superb. There was plenty of food and they catered for all requirements. We had a ball. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t great and we couldn’t do many of the activities.
- Michael (9/5): A great location to switch off and unwind - The food was phenomenal and the team were very welcoming
- Yuri (10/5): Exceptional -
