- Ilyana (10/5): - Отличный отель с потрясающим дизайном. Номера просторные и комфортные, все продумано до мелочей. В ванной комнате хороший фен и качественная косметика. В общественных пространствах отеля распыляют приятные арома-масла. Обязательно загляните в местный бар за восхитительными коктейлями и попробуйте яблочный пирог в кафе на террасе. Недалеко от отеля есть хорошая кофейня, вокруг лес и тишина. Жду своего возвращения в Mampei Hotel.

- Mary Rose (9/5): One of the best hotel experiences we had in Japan - This historic hotel is well-preserved, elegant and lovely. We felt like we were in the middle of a forest but "downtown" is just a ten-minute walk away. The service is one of the best we've had in Japan - and we've stayed in many different hotels. We had unforgettable meals - Tea time at the Cafe Terrace with their famous royal milk tea and apple pie, dinner at the dining room and breakfast too. Special note of thanks to the lady in reception who took care of our check-in. She was so accommodating. Everyone had been hospitable and supportive. 5⭐️ service The rates are on the higher scale but it's understandable for such an important property.

- kang (10/5): A relaxing, cozy stay. - The entire experience of staying at Mampei was exceptional. The rustic feels that the hotel eludes, the impeccable service from the moment you enter the hotel, and the cozy, welcoming vibes from the hotel room really impressed me throughout the stay. While the hotel has been around for a long time, the facilities are well-maintained and feels rather new. The room and common area are clean and have a nice fragrance. The only complaint I have is the location, since it's recommended that you drive to access the hotel. But staying in Karuizawa, most people should be driving to visit the different sites, so this is unlikely to be a problem.

The staff were exceptionally helpful, especially Mr. Komiyama (if I got his name right), who went out of his way to assist us. The atmosphere was warm and peaceful, and it was special to stay at a place once frequented by John Lennon. Our room was elegant and comfortable, with a private onsen bath, and breakfast was thoughtfully prepared to accommodate our dietary restrictions. The scenic drive in and proximity to the old Ginza street added to the charm. A truly memorable and happy experience.

- かおり (8/5): - チェックインの後は男性と女性の二人のスタッフがお部屋まで案内してくださり、特に男子のスタッフは丁寧すぎるほどお部屋について丁寧な説明をしてくださいました。 無料のミネラルウォーターがあり、良かったです。静かで、落ち着いていてゆっくりすることができました。 難点を挙げるとしたら、今回碓氷館(エントランスから一番遠い建物)に宿泊しましたが、外に出たりダイニングルームに行くのにいちいち遠かったことと、周りが静かで環境が良かったので、逆に夜お散歩しようとエントランスから出たら暗くて、街灯もまばらで人通りもほとんどなかったので少し危険だと思いました。なので夜の徒歩での外出はおすすめできません。

It’s a historic, well-established hotel nestled in a quiet forest catering to celebrities and well-heeled travelers since 1894. Service and meal offerings were spectacular; the rooms modern and well-appointed, on par with any four-and five star hotels. Something that really caught my attention was the cushioned floors in the room; walking on them gave a level of comfort I’ve not felt at other hotels. And end your day at the iconic bar where John Lennon entertained those gathered on that piano when he stayed here.

First room on second floor, forbidden by law (!?) from opening windows more than 10cm. Manager Sanada kindly arranged a first floor room, so we could enjoy the mountain air. Excellent bartender. Try his Old-Fashioned. Change that silly law! English language ability among staff low; otherwise Japanese-courteous and -competent.
