Guest Reviews
- Marc (10/5): Liefste eigenaresse, top service !!
- Radek (10/5): Comfortable stay with home cooking and true hospitality. - The owner is super helpful and makes you feel at home. She helped pick up my wife 10 minutes away from the Camino when my wife couldn’t walk any longer due to blisters.
That same after she was helping other guests find a mobile phone left in a taxi and a lost wallet. A true guardian angel to us peregrinos. Room was comfortable and dinner and breakfast homemade.
Definitely recommend to stay, it is a quiet small village.
- Margaret (10/5): - The room was lovely and the bed very comfortable after a very long walk on the camino. It was great to have a little bit of luxury and the fire going in the cosy loungeroom was a bonus. Ana and her mother were very welcoming and the four course meal delicious. I am still thinking about the red peppers stuffed with tuna. It was only about 1km off the camino but well worth it. The views from the back of the town were beautiful.
- Jeanie (10/5): - This was our second visit to Hotel Rural la Aldea Encantada. We enjoyed the family atmosphere. The room was well appointed and comfortable. Both Anna and her mother are a joy to be around. The 4 course dinner, with homemade flan, and the breakfast were excellent. Always big hugs when you leave. Strongly recommend. Buen Camino!
- Jose (9/5): Top three stays for us during our pilgrimage. An absolute must if you can do it. - Fantastic experience in a lovely property accompanied by a great meal and super nice hosts. A bit off the path, but not enough to not stay here- in fact the walk to get back on El Camino was beautiful walking through fields and roads a bit off the way.
- Nick (8/5): -
- jeffrey (9/5): Highly recommend this place. Good vibes for the money and you won’t regret stopping here’ - An absolutely beautiful place. The staff was super helpful and her mother cooked dinner that night. Some people might be a little put off by the location, it being 1 mile off the Camino. I loved getting away a little bit from the hustle and bustle of the Camino.
- Arno (10/5): - Lovely restored property. Extremely friendly mother and daughter team! Fantastic home-made dinner. Don‘t miss it. (A bit off the beaten track but you can take your private Camino route back, which was delightful)
- Brad (10/5): - Very friendly staff, great delicious dinner. Very welcoming. Nothing, everything was great.
- Daniel (10/5): I liked the family atmosphere. Good home cooked food. -
- Stijn (10/5): Heel vriendelijke ontvangst! -

- Nadia (10/5): Peaceful luxury just off Camino - Absolutely delightful bnb in a quiet hamlet, a short flat walk off the Camino - quicker than I expected. We stopped at the Colombian bar on the corner and then headed up to the hotel. Felt like staying with family, extremely friendly and lovely home cooked food. We opted to eat with other pilgrims and had a great evening. Room was absolutely impeccable, spacious and cosy. The route they showed us to Belorado meant we skipped the whole route along the main road and was very peaceful.
- Steen (10/5): - Very rural, personal touch, wonderful host and family Nothing
- Given (9/5): - Ana and Ana were absolutely lovely. The place was charming. You felt at home. N/A
- Hans (8/5): -
- Cristy (10/5): An absolutely wonderful stay, in comfort, while still having the culture of a beautiful little town and a wonderfully we - This property is unique, warm, comfortable and immediately we felt like family. The owner Ana and her mother treated us to the best care, helping us sort the laundering of clothes in the middle of our Camino, and we enjoyed the very laid back but comfortable stay. The shower was phenomenal with endless hot water at a great pressure and it was perfection after a long day. Nothing - it was perfect
- Stacey Robbins (9/5): Great private room and bath, clean and yummy pilgrim's dinner! - Anna is precious! She greeted me, a tired and hot traveler, with an open heart and smile. She was wonderful and easy and wanted me to feel at home. I LOVED my room with the big bronze eclipsed sun vibe on the wall and my private bath. The room was very clean and bath towels big. Be aware when you walk up from the camino that this is 1 km off the path before you hit Villamayor. Your phone reception will likely not work so screen shot your gps. It's safe to walk in to the town and very serene. You will be making a left into a wooded path and wonder, "Is this correct?" It is! and then, it will open up into the hotel rural. Dinner was DELICIOUS and we had so much fun with our fellow pilgrims.
- Lori (8/5): - Super clean. The beds and pillows were very uncomfortable. The dinner was just okay and quite pricey for what we got.
- Christoph (9/5): -
- Gianpaolo (6/5): - Hotel rurale in luogo particolare e suggestivo. Interni accoglienti e con arredo rustico. Camera e bagno puliti. Letto comodo.
- Goat Strider (8/5): - Very friendly hosts.
Beautiful, rustic, rural, farmhouse style hotel.
Peaceful and picturesque location.
Excellent breakfast. It was very hot, although it was during a heatwave and there is no air conditioning which, to be fair, is to be expected given the setting.
- Audrey (8/5): Very good - Ana and her mother who run the hotel were so sweet and accommodating! The room was excellent! They did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. It's located off the Camino trail. There are NO other options for food and the dinner and breakfast that were offered was good but very pricey!
The beds were very hard and uncomfortable.
- Gregory (10/5): Exceptional - Everything. Great place to stay. Stayed twice 2 years running. So accommodating with specialty meals.
- Donna (9/5): Superb - We loved the owner’s mother, Anna. She was warm and charming. The hotel is quaint and clean. Just know that the hotel is between one and two kilometers off of the Camino down a country road and that there is no other food option. We ate dinner at the hotel, which was nice.
- Chak-riya (10/5): Exceptional - The hostesses are very kind. The home made dinner was made with love and very delicious. We had a restful night after a long walk on Camino. None
- Monique (10/5): Wonderful!!!! - The warmth and efficiency of the inn keepers, Ana and her mother was very welcoming and efficient. The rooms and beds were quite comfortable. Dinner and full breakfast were great! It was worth a few minutes off of the Camino for a traditional Spanish experience. Nothing
- Lisa (9/5): Lovely old home with wonderful owners for a perfect night’s rest on the Camino. - Lovely old home that has been beautifully updated. Anna and her mother are very welcoming and helpful. Mama prepared a delicious meal (extra cost, good value for what was served.) Anna arranged transportation to Burgos for us, and as we were leaving gave recommendations of things to see/ do in Burgos. With an older home, there are some quirks. We had a room on the top floor, so there are some very low ceiling beams that you can hit your head on if not careful. Still a wonderful place to stay, you just need to be aware.
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ken (9/5): This stop, with hospitality and fellowship reminded me of why I wanted to take this journey - We were walking the Camino de Santiago/ Francis and this was a stop that was a km off the trail. But Ana picked us up and took us to the hotel. This family is wonderful. Three generations under the same roof. Hospitality was the key here. There was a cheerful fire and a glass of Rioja wine to meet us. We had a private room and bath but had dinner and breakfast as a family with about 10 other pilgrims. Grandma was a great cook. Ana was so kind and charming and attentive to needs I can’t say enough about this stop but it was the best of Spain indeed of who we all should be
- Martha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bradfield (9/5): Superb - Wonderful home cooking Shower head not adjustable
- Tzuchun (10/5): Exceptional - everything
- Tim (9/5): Friendly and quiet and a great base for exploring the local area - Helpful and friendly staff
Comfortable beds
Quiet location
Great breakfast and home-cooked dinner
- James (9/5): Wonderful stay in Quintanilla del Monte - The property is run by a delightful mother & daughter. The mother cooked a delicious dinner. The daughter, Anna, is very kind. She provided my wife a great massage that relieved a good deal of Camino stress & strain. She also took the time to show us a shortcut back to the Camino. This lead to a beautiful morning walk & a great start to the day. The property is located about a kilometer off the Camino. A minor downside more than offset by the pluses.
- Alastair (10/5): Great hotel in a lovely rural setting. - Had a great stay while on the Camino de Santiago. Room was comfortable and clean but the highlight was meeting Anna and her lovely family. Anna’s mother cooked us an excellent homemade meal, nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend.
- Lynette (9/5): Very hospitable, bedroom cosy warm and great shower, comfortable beds. A little overpriced but the food was great. - Wonderful stay
- Hari (10/5): Exceptional -
- Howard (10/5): A gem of the camino - On this our second stay we again loved the inspiring renovation and feeling of comfort and warmth in this remote hamlet. We were able to order a vegetarian dinner, which was appreciated.
- Adrados (8/5): Very good -
- Fe (10/5): Exceptional - Big room, comfy bed, powerful hot shower, super sweet owners, delicious breakfast. Nada. Just be aware that there might not be any phone reception until back at the main street but the house has good WiFi...
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Family run and about as charming as a place can get. Nice dinner and agreed to do our laundry. It is off the Camino by about a kilometer or so. But it's worth it. One of the patrons was a 10-time Camino participant who just loved the place. Worth the extra walk.
- Eric (9/5): A stay well worthwhile. - A fabulous warm home feel. We felt very welcome by Ana and her family. A lovely decorated house. Very clean bedroom.
- Maurice (9/5): Lovely character-filled accommodation with a lovely landlady - Unique hotel with a very welcoming landlady who, despite not speaking English did everything she could to facilitate us and make our stay comfortable nothing
- Richard (10/5): Lovely stop off the beate. Path. Avoid the crush of Belorado. Worth it! - This was a lovely gem off the regular Camino path. Rooms were great as was the food. Staff was kind and engaging.
Worth the extra steps! All good
- Janine (10/5): Exceptional - Loved everything, the hospitality was outstanding so welcoming and genuine. Food made with love, rooms prepared with so much thought and care. Highly recommend for accommodation on you Camino.
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mcgowan (8/5): Perfectly lovely Camino accommodation with the kindest, friendliest hosts! - This was my second visit to this property… When I finished walking the first time on the Camino, this was my endpoint… So I returned here to continue this time… The reception is so lovely here. They do everything they can to be accommodating. When I stayed this time, I was the only guest and they went out of their way to make me a nice meal.
This property is about as authentic as you can get for a small town like this ….i love the authenticity. It’s great
- Johnny (10/5): Excellent -
- Oiane (9/5): Superb -
- Mccutchon (10/5): Very restful stay and very helpful hostesses. - Great hospitality. Great meals. Comfortable bed. One of the best breakfasts of my month in Spain. Nothing not to like. It was a little way from the Camino but worth the walk.
- Mary (10/5): The family run hotel feels like that…a family. You are invited by the family to enjoy your stay with them and it feels l - Room was lovely and comfortable the hosts make it feel like a home from home. Little garden a dining room with sofas on one side really lovely. Grandma and Mama were just lovely. Nothing not to like
- Robin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional - This is a family run B&B and they couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. Our dinner meal was the first home-cooked meal I had walking the Camino. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I had a wonderful night's sleep. We shared a bottle of wine sitting next to a log fire. It was perfect. Nothing.
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helene (10/5): Would certainly come back, loved the quiet, a little away from the Camino - Nice eggs, toasted Bread… A little expensive
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional - Just one kilometre from the Camino, this accommodation is a haven of peace in a small village. Large rooms, very friendly hosts and delicious home cooking make your stay an unforgettable experience.
- Cecilia (9/5): Home cooked meal in cosy family home - Lovely daughter and mum hosts. Mum cooked great home cooked meal. Felt like staying in a cosy family home. Recomend!
- Peter (8/5): A pleasant surprise - The apartment is a great size, well located to the Camino The place is impossible to find. We had to get a taxi and even he struggled.
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jocelyne (10/5): Beautiful stay. - I had an amazing stay. Owner picked me up after I called to say I managed to walk past the road I needed to take. Warm and just lovely people. Highly recommend. Hard to find if you are not fluent in Spanish
- Iuliana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zeki (8/5): Very good -
- John (7/5): Good - Family-run hotel off the Camino de Santiago. The dinner was fantastic. Comfortable room. The family is very accommodating. There is nothing else in this town so you are coming here for a good meal, a good night's sleep and to get some laundry done. WiFi was poor inside the hotel so you may not be able to connect with anyone overnight.
- Katrijn (10/5): Fabulous stay in beautiful old farmhouse with delicious home cooked food. - Great atmosphere in a beautifully restored old farmhouse in a small village. The house is decorated with a lot of taste. The host and her mother are very friendly and welcoming. We had a delicious home cooked diner and a nice breakfast with everything you wanted.
- Adams (8/5): Nice dinner and breakfast - Family owners were very friendly and helpful
- Joan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (9/5): Pleasant stay and good meals in a casa rural - Walking the Camino, this was a great option when nearby Villamayor was booked up. The place is nicely appointed and in excellent repair. The welcome and staff were warm and helpful. They offer a tasty dinner and nourishing breakfast (with eggs!). Very reasonable and very nice. We might suggest extra pillows be made available and perhaps a luggage rack or somewhere to put up our bags. But the rooms were spacious and nice- these are just suggestions to improve an already nice place
- Marc (10/5): Wonderful - Anna, her mother and her daughter Nora are amazing, the property is so relaxing and the home made diner is great
- Jean-luc (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angela (8/5): Authentic Spanish welcome - Fabulous rustic location, warm welcome at the door. Friendly people and a home cooked traditional meal. Room was quite large with a good sized bathroom. The room I had so had a linked room for a child. I would definitely go again.
- Judith (8/5): Very good -
- Garry (8/5): Very good -
- Jorge (10/5): Don’t miss this gem hotel - Excellent gem hotel just 20 min walk from main road
Ana and her mother gives excellent service and real home made food made by Ana’s mother highly recommended Nada
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional - Very very welcoming and helpful people owners ,highly recommended from my experience Nothing !
- Ian (9/5): Superb - Lovely people and fantastic quality food. Was a bit expensive compared to the other places I have stayed on the camino
- Mirjam (8/5): Very good -
- Eoin (10/5): Exceptional - We had a lovely stay at La Aldea Encantada
- Walter (8/5): Okay but too expensive - Very quiet location. Totally overpriced for a B&B, especially Euro 12 for a basic breakfast.
Ants crawling around everywhere in room and bathroom and even on breakfast table.
- Flynn (10/5): Refreshed! - Mommy Ana took very good care of us. The food was superb. The location is off the path making it very quiet and the beds were wonderful!! This is a must stay for anyone in the area!!
