- Staff being very helpful.
- Clean facilities and accommodations.
- Relaxing atmosphere.
- The good experience in the baths. Nothing really.
- KM (9/5): -
- MARTA (7/5): -
- Vy (8/5): - Onsen and staffs Room facilities are old, not well-structures thus making it small
- Katarzyna (10/5): - Super big rooms (all the premises, actually) with one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in Japan, everything is spotlessly clean, the public bath is beautiful, the staff lovely, and there's a free shuttle bus to both JR and Kintetsu Nara stations. And all of this princess treatment for an unbelievably low price. ---

- Giampaolo (10/5): - We had a lovely time here! We were travelling by public transport, and this spot is a little of out of the way, but they sent a shuttle to the train station and it was easy to arrive. It was not clear from their website that the restaurant would not be open for dinner, and the closest restaurant by foot (other than McDonald's) was a 30 minute walk away. That was no problem; we had a nice walk, a great dinner, and really loved the onsen!
- Marie-Anne (4/5): - Big rooms, good breakfast, nice french speaking staff, shuttle to the station Very disapointed that we could not access the onsen as much as we wanted as we have tatoos (while we did message the hotel prior checkin to make sure we could use it - they did say it is ok for guests with tatoos to use the onsen). Message was written in japanese, so no room for misunderstanding.
(Nice french speaking gentleman allowed us to use it at the very end of the day before closing when there were no other guests. But we only use it for 20 minutes, so very disappointed. We showed the messages to the same staff, who wasn't aware of this exchange, so there clearly is a poor communication inside the hotel/between staff)
Location quite inconvenient, very far from the center, close to a highway road - nothing to see around, and few places to eat out.
Hotel was old - which could be charming if well taken care of, but some walls in the room has scratches and could need some fresh painting.
Very small bathroom with poor water pressure
Overall quite expensive for what it is
- yohann (9/5): - Personnel adorable.

- C8820OMmaryp (6/5): Needs updating, beautiful onsen - Our reservation at another place fell through and we found this place at the last moment. The location was not awesome. It seemed a bit shady and was far from most anything interesting. The hotel is old but looks like it would have been posh when it was first built. It’s been well maintained but needs updating.
The beds were comfy. The room was nice, spacious, warm and had a private full bath, Tv, small refrigerator, and water heater. There are several places to sit and gather. We were able to play cards in a common area.
The breakfast was very Japanese and not great for western tastes. They did have some bread items and cereal.
There is a shuttle in the mornings to the train stations.
The star of the place is the onsen. It is really beautiful. We enjoyed it several times in our short stay. I would return for that reason.
- Alena (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely fantastic place Quite far from center, but it has shuttle bus
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Chona (9/5): Charming and helpful staff - Large rooms in a Ryokan style. We loved the onsen and they included a yucatan to wear. There were lots of choices at breakfast. They provided a free shuttle to Nara Park and the train terminal. The desk staff were so helpful when we needed to make a collect phone call! Much appreciated!! It was a bit far especially if you don't have a vehicle, but they provided a shuttle service which we appreciated. It's an older property but that was part of the charm and it was so spacious.
- Shaleena (9/5): First-time international traveler, pleasantly surprised - I loved the onsen/ hotspring! It was very relaxing and had a large space from what I've seen at some other hotels. The dinner was delicious and the experience was fun to try traditional dishes. The beds are very comfortable! The in-room bathroom was clean but dated.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vafa (6/5): - It was an old building that was okay but not well-maintained. The staff were very helpful, kind, and friendly, despite their limited English. The great bonus was the onsen (hot spring). The room was very big—almost three times the size of other rooms we stayed in during our visit to Japan. However, the location was not good at all, being next to a busy highway and very far from the old town or Nara Park.
- Ting Bun Eric (8/5): -
- Katie (10/5): I loved staying here, the location was a bit out of the way, but great other than that. - The room was amazing, it was spacious there was a non-shared bathroom. The room also had a mirror and open windows to sit at in the morning. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast that came with the stay had a generous variety to choose from. There is also a cute souvenir shop to browse. The location isn't close to the train stations, so you need to take a bus or taxi to the hotel. You can't check in until 3pm, so if you arrive early you have to wait, but they have a cafe you can order food or drinks at to bide your time. Also, not as close to the Nara deer park, you do need to take a bus to get down there.
- Crystal (10/5): Exceptional - It was a wonderful tradition Japanese hotel
- Joshua (9/5): Excellent stay for a family. Very nice staff and facility. - Very kind and nice staff. The public bath house was very nice with outdoor facility as well. Bedding was very comfortable, too. Only issue was the really loud noise from the Cicadas outside. We were all waken by the the noise early morning.
- Ronald (8/5): Very good -
- Shelby (9/5): Superb -
- Alan (4/5): Disappointing - The hotel is clearly dated but the staff are friendly, helpful and polite. The hot spring is the outstanding feature which is lovely. The hotel advertises a swimming pool on booking.com that isn't there or no longer open. The pool is listed and there are photos of the pool - this was the only reason I booked this hotel.
The shower in the room had no water pressure, almost to the point where it was better to shower in the hot spring than in the room.
For part of the 3rd day I was there, there was no running water in the room at all.
The hotel is cheap so I think that's why it's acceptable to stay, and I think as most people only spend 1 night in Nara they probably don't have enough time to find the faults like I did.
- Chris (8/5): Great Japanese vacation resort hotel near Nara park. - Onsite onsen, game room, hotel shuttle to nearby train stations, helpful staff, spacious rooms, well adorned, gift shop, all amenities you could need. Dated furnishings - 1980’s dial telephones and bathroom appliances, although top notch stuff for 1980.
If you don’t book a meal plan, you cannot eat at the hotel at all, even if you want to pay separately.
- Akiko (10/5): This was a wonderful quiet place to explore Nara. - This is a lovely quiet hotel just outside Nara. The facilities are a little dated and could use an upgrade. Nevertheless this is a wonderful little find. The Onsen is quiet and easily accessible. The room was huge, bed super comfortable and the restaurant on site was amazing!!
Love that they supply kimonos for dressing for traditional dinner. Breakfast is a good mix of western diet and Japanese breakfast foods. Could use a little TLC
- Tim (10/5): - Onsen and massage chair awesome. Make sure to book your shuttles as it is far way from the station.
- Xu (9/5): Nice traditional Japanese hotel with great hot spring and meal. - Great traditional Japanese hotel. A little out of date but that is what tradition is about. Onsen was very nice. Both dinner and breakfast is great. The location is a little far for most Nara tourist sites but hotel provides shuttle from/to train station. The bed is not real tatami. It is a twin size mattress on top of a bunch of smaller pads. It is OK for average people. However for larger size folks it may collapse during middle of the night.
- BRENDAN C (8/5): - Nowhere to dine far from anything and hard to get to. Having the onsen was its saving grace.
- Kate (8/5): Very good - The onsen and rooms were amazing. The shuttle bus was not available for pick up from the station. There was no dinner provided at the hotel on a Tuesday.
- Tsang (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ev (7/5): Good -
- Dsvid (8/5): Fabulous experience - This is an extraordinary hotel
Japanese style
Vast room
A time warp and wonderful if you want a feel of traditional Japanese hospitality
- chan (6/5): - Old interior, but a receptionist have a good service
- Darren (9/5): Superb - Amazing hotel, huge room in Japanese style with tatami mat flooring. Wonderful Kaiseki evening neck as part of my finger and breakfast plan. It is a little way out of the centre of Nara but the Hotel runs a shuttle bus to some of the rail stations.
- Lorraine (9/5): We were very happy to have the opportunity to use the B poll especially as the heat and humidity was brutal - The onsen was wonderful
Room was very comfortable
Pool was very great
Staff were amazing
Dinner was exceptional and attention to detail was at a very high standard No issues met expectations
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional - It was a beautiful Japanese style room and was very spacious. The outside spring was relaxing.
- Jina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Younsoo (6/5): - We picked this place because it had Onsen and had the traditional Ryokan look. Despite the note that the place had shuttle bus from the station, they had limited runs and it was not explained properly. They sent a long Japanese letter but this only said that they wanted to know when we would arrive but had no information on the transportations. Since the hotel restaurant was open per reservation, we had to look for restaurants around the hotel. It was very inconvenient. Onsen was open 6-9 a,m and we had to vacate the place by 10 a.m after breakfast so we didn't get to use the Onsen in the morning. T.T Also, since the heater was blowing from the ceiling, temperature was warm when I stood up. But it was very cold sleeping on futon on the floor over night. Probably, it makes sense to visit this place during summer and not during winter. Breakfast buffet was good though.
- S9517KFanneh (10/5): Experience the real Japan staying at this Ryokan... - This hotel is not 5 star luxury, for the price it is 5 star value...£190 for a couple including Japanese breakfast & evening meal... I would highly recommend the crab we cooked in a pot...
The rooms are typical Ryokan, spotlessly clean, comfortable & we were provided with kimonos & served Japanese tea...
It has steam bath facilities with out door bathing also...the saloon bar is basic please don’t expect cocktails but if you want a good laugh on the karaoke without a massive audience this is the place to go...
The hotel staff are extremely friendly & helpful...If you want to practice your Japanese this is the place for you... the hotel was full & we were the only European guests which made it all the more fun...
Nara Park is two train stops away & a taxi ride to the hotel or the hotel at times has a shuttle bus..
If you want croissants for breakfast & a burger for dinner & expect the staff to speak fluent English this is not the place for you...if however you want a truly memorable experience then give it a go...
- jay22200 (10/5): Special Night Tour of Nigatsu Hall! - Recommend the Nara Park Hotel! They have an special night tour of the famous Nigatsu Hall. You need to schedule it when you book your room. It is free! Unfortunately, you need to take someone who can speak Japanese for interpretation and request Mr Takaya. Great clean hotel! Onsen is nice!
- rediscool (10/5): Natural Onsen - We went there for a day plan including dinner and onsen. Ask your hotel staff to help you to book the menu and reserve the limousine to pick you up from the JR Nara Station or Kintetsu Nara Station. A better option which they may offer is to pick you up at the south exit of Kintetsu Yamato-Saidaji station (2 stations from Kintetsu Nara station). From there is a 10 minutes ride to the hotel. If they can, you can arrange to shop at the Kintetsu NARA department store at the north exit of the Kintetsu Yamato-Saidaji before or after your meal.
At north exit, cross the road and turn left, you will see it right in front of you. Go to the information centre to ask for the tourist 5% discount card by showing your passport. Can have tax refund immediately at the top floor of the department store (can't remember it is the 5th or 6th floor. Daily consumption needs to add up to JPY6,000-10,000 at less, I did not pay attention as I spent more than this). It does not have any sign of the tax refund counter but there is a counter for the department store member, you just speak to them in English 'Tax refund' and they will guide you to the counter. For cosmetic items, you need to show them and they will seal it in a plastic bag for you.
At the hotel, for food and beverage consumption over JPY5,000 for each person excluding taxes (approx. USD45) they waive onsen expenses JPY1,000 (approx. USD9) and provide free towel and yukata (cotton bathrobe). The cheapest lunch menu is JPY5,400 excluding taxes (approx. USD49). Lunch is 11:00-14:30 and dinner is 17:30-21:00. Dinner is served in a guest room but they won't give you the room key. You need to lock your valuable items in the lockers at the onsen changing room. Lockers with key or digital lock are available. You need to return the room by 9pm. You don't need to bring anything. The onsen has shampoo, conditioner, bath soap and dryer etc. Do wash before you dip into the onsen and tie up your hair if you have long hair!
The onsen is REAL onsen. We shopped and had sightseeing for 3 days and are exhausted. Had onsen before and after the dinner and we are brand new again!
Please be expected this is a traditional Japanese ryokan, you will sit on the tatami for the meal. The staff don't speak English but what more do you need!
Enjoy!
- 51geoffm (6/5): Onsen - We were not staying at the hotel, but they let the public use the Onsen for ¥1000. Towel rental is additional ¥300. Worth the visit, there are indoor and outdoor pools and the staff is very friendly. A little out of the main area of town. Not to be confused with Nara Hotel.
- trackeritrack (8/5): Old world charm - Except for the old world charm in the old wing only I would probably rethink a visit to this hotel unless yu intend to spend 2 days in Nara
The rooms were decent size but lack of good coffee made it loose rankings
If for a night stay closer to the station where are the action is in terms of bars and restuarents
- colmm678 (2/5): If your western DONT GO HERE !!! - This is not a international hotel . Nothing is in english .Staff look at you with 2 heads if you speak it.. I respect the fact this is a traditional hotel .But the staff make no effort to help. Rooms are over priced for what your get . No brochures about anything to see in Nara either. And again the staff dont help. If your after a hotspring and your only staying one night ..get ready for it ..hotspring opens at 11 and cheak out is also at 10 ...Great!!...and you have to pay to get in earlier ... If you want to be taken for a ride ...This is the place for you !!!
