- SjittaZyxx (8/5): Good food and sleep - Very nice stay and swimming, and nice restaurants in de neighborhood. Was enjoyed the 🌯 very good the one with beef or chicken also vegetables. Not expensive, no wathing time for a sitplace. Everything fresh make at the moment of stay. 😁 🥳
- Jorge (8/5): - So far so good
- Martin (8/5): Very good -
- MusiciansMum (6/5): Seen better days - Two nights here as part of a group tour. Well located to walk into the centre of town with a nice garden (pool is decorative though and not for a swim)(One star awarded for location)
Requires a large dollop of TLC to bring it up to a 3 star level
Thin, worn bedsheets and towels.
Very small bathroom area. Fixed shower. ,Hairdryer decides itself if it works or not. No rubbish bin in the room itself, only in the bathroom..
No chair to sit on! No heating. spare blankets available.
Had to ask for toilet paper as only end of roll provided and no spare (even on day 2)
Day 1 very good buffet breakfast. Day 2.Leess guests poor buffet breakfast.
WARNING: Very close to a function room where loud celebrations/music /samba etc echoed out into the night until 01.15 am. .One would assume not every night but.......!
- Georgeta (5/5): Passable -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Todo excelente como siempre
- O6071KClaural (8/5): Mixed goods and bads - The pros: clean , nice grounds and well located hotel in San Cristobal de las Casas. I found the room spacious - it even had 2 beds - so confused by another review posted about small rooms. I did find the beds to be 'extra firm' ... pretty much across the board in Mexico in general. Breakfast was nice EXCEPT ... this is the con ... seriously the worst coffee I've ever had! This was the general consensus of people I was with and general comments. This was surprising as we are in Chiapas ... known for it's coffee! People often walked several blocks into the town to get the 'good stuff'. The other con was most distressing. The supervisor (a middle aged woman with short tight curly hair) was absolutely atrocious to the staff. Then, she corners and interupts guests to DEMAND tips, quite rudely. I seriously doubt the actual staff get the tips based on her behavior.
- Alex (9/5): Superb -
- Kelly (10/5): - The staff were wonderful and the hotel came with everything you would need. It’s close to all the central things in the city and it felt very safe and clean.
- Eaa1947 (4/5): 2 Star Hotel pretending to be a 4 star hotel - It pretends to be a 4 star hotel, “proudly” displaying the 4 stars at the front of the hotel. It is no better than a 2 star hotel. The rooms are small and I have never seen a smaller bathroom especially the hand basin. There is no where to put your wet pack or other toiletries and no hooks. For 2 persons they give you a small sachet of liquid shampoo. In this day and age of reducing single use items came as a shock. There is a shower but no bath tub.in the room itself there is no furniture apart from the bed. No table or chair. The beds were rather hard. There is no fan or air conditioning but given it is rather cold they did have extra blankets. The walls of the room were just whitewashed with no artwork, photos or any other features. The TV is only in Spanish, at least we could not find an English Channel. There are very few electrical outlets so charging your devices was a painful process. Of course it seems Mexicans don’t drink tea or coffee as there are no tea or coffee making facilities or cups or saucers. I asked for a kettle and they said they did not have any. For a 2 storey building there is no lift and one has to lug ones own suitcases or pay the bell boy to do so. We are not used to tipping for such services. The breakfast was pretty ordinary and the waiters could not explain what the hot meals were, so we left it. There is a sort of water feature in the middle of the courtyard but no swimming pool. How on earth they can call themselves a 4 star hotel is a mystery. Overall I will rate this as a 2 star hotel at best.
- Felipe (5/5): Passable -
- Brooke (10/5): - What a cute little hotel. The outside area is adorable. There are lots of amenities. Close walking distance to restaurants and shopping. My room was clean and the staff is friendly and accommodating.
- Christian (10/5): - Excelente
- Tarek (6/5): Nice facility with moist rooms and bad management - The hotel facility is good. The rooms are very moist and cold! Makes you sick! We needed to cover up with like 4 blankets.
Moreover, we stayed there 6 nights and on last day I asked if we can checkout half hour late cause we were very tired from our 20 hour tour the day before, they said no!
Then we left the luggages with the management in the luggage room, they said they charge for every piece of luggage! It's not about the value of the money (we left more than that amount as a tip for the luggage helper).. but I have never seen that kind of service in any hotel, and I have been in plenty. From a hotel that is relatively expensive compared to Mexico, I didn't expect that kind of service and it's not justified!
- Colinsweeney (6/5): Satisfactory stay - Spent two nights in San Christobel at this hotel. It was a reasonable base to see the town and the local sights. We only had the continental breakfast on the last morning which wasn’t that good - the juice came from a carton and the bread was a bit too sweet for my liking.
- InesH568 (8/5): Nice hotel near the city center - Nice hotel with clean/spacious rooms and bathroom near the Zócalo (city center). The staff is friendly and they offer a great breakfast. It is a five minute walk from the hotel to the bars and restaurants in center of San Cristobal.
- MerelJ_12 (2/5): Extremely noisy and unfriendly staff - The walls of this hotel are made of paper; you can hear someone using the blowdryer 3 rooms further down the hallway. During our stay there was a group of 25-30 teenagers partying plus a wedding, with loud music until 4 in the morning. Even after complaints the staff did nothing except trying to sell (!!!) us earplugs for 60 peso’s per person. At 8 in the morning the hotel personell decided it to be the perfect time to start rebuilding a broken bed in the garden which woke everyone up. The people at the desk are rude, unfriendly and couldn’t care less. Especially the lady working at the evening is a real charm, not. The rooms smell funky, the electronic doorkey never works so you need to head to the reception every time you want to enter your room, and the WiFi doesnt work. Worst hotel ever. Avoid by all means.
- T8415DCstevew (8/5): A delightful hotel in an excellent location - This is a lovely hotel, and such a welcome situation surrounding a garden and fountain. A very welcome prospect after Mexico City. We had two nights here and plenty of time to see the sights of this attractive mountain town.We were told it would be chilly, but it was very pleasant. Our room was compact but clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good, and the staff helpful and friendly.
- EstherP1882 (8/5): Nice property; some rooms need attention - I had room 310 on the upper level of the hotel (there are two floors). It is nice size with two double beds, a flat screen TV (no remote in room). Wi-fi is best at non-peak times. It is a well-used room and could use some attention:
* the rod from the towel rack in the bathroom is missing
* the pull-out clothesline is missing the cord - so it is non-useable
* there are only three non-removable hangers; the fourth is missing
If you stay here, bring a power strip. There is only one electrical outlet in the room, thankfully it is by the bed.
Be sure to close the window in the bathroom as it gets very cold at night (I was there in November). There are ample extra blankets available on the shelf above the clothes rack.
I do want to mention that the staff is very honest.I left my travel money out by mistake while I was gone for the day, and it was not touched.
There were two groups staying on the property and the restaurant prepared a breakfast buffet for 95 pesos that included everything, except the tip.
The tacos restaurant across the street is excellent. It has an open kitchen, friendly waiters and a good menu. Portions are huge.
- rinusw (8/5): Visiting San Cristobal during our round trip - Good hotel centrally in the city. You can find your way easy. It was busy in town, but in the hotel you can sleep quiet. Big rooms, good facilities, nice personnel. They think with the guests. Clean and tidy. We spent two nights with pleasure
- Tincek_757 (4/5): Freezer! - I have spent only one night at this place. My findings are:
Positive
* close to city centre (walking distance)
* lots to choose at breakfast buffet
Negative:
* the room was moist and EXTREMELY cold, i was freezing all night long
* poor wifi signal (only in lobby area)
* we arranged an early breakfast. At the time we should start there was still no food on the buffet table.
Tip: If you feel hungry go to the new kebab place just across the main road. Delicious!
- TalieMo (6/5): Bit chilly - This hotel was lovely. Location, it is quite near to the main plaza. The gardens of the hotel are quite pretty and well maintained. The rooms are good size, clean but it was so cold.
Even with extra blankets we struggled with getting warm. We didn't spend too much time at the hotel so this wasn't too much of an issue. The first night the hot water didn't work either but the next day it was back.
Breakfast was a buffet and of a good standard.
Staff are friendly and we had to leave early in the morning, we got breakfast/lunch boxes packed up to take with us with no issues.
- nikolajl542 (6/5): Average hotel near the city center - We stayed at the Arrecife del Coral for 3 nights. The first night there was a lot of noise from a party next to the hotel, but otherwise it was quite quiet.
The rooms are small but alright if you only use them to shower and sleep.
WiFi only works in the reception and restaurant area.
As the hotel offers washing facilities we had the change to wash our close at a reasonable price (15 mx$) and dried it after was in the back garden.
On our last morning we had to leave before breakfast was served at the restaurant and the staff was kind enough to make us a sandwich and pack us some fruit and chocolate bar to take with us – very nice service.
- donk739 (6/5): A bit cold - Nice setting, easy walk to city centre and restaurants.
Travelling with a group, we received a warm welcome that included refreshments.
Very nicely kept grounds and large attractive lobby.
Room was large enough with two queen size beds; bathroom a tad small but adequate with good shower and adequate toiletries.
The hotel would have qualified for a 'very good' rating but the room was cold, had no heating or electric blanket. San Cristobal is cold especially at night. The hotel owners are not responsible for the climate but the rooms and hotel lobby should be heated
- NatouMelbourne (2/5): not a 4 stars hotel!!! - In 4 stars hotel, patrons arrive to a room with a full roll of toilette paper. Not there, and even worth it was not even replaced when the room was done in the morning so we arive in a room without toilet paper.
Bathroom is very small and has no room for toilet bag. Shower is a dribble. Rooms have no heating (and it gets cold at night in san christobal) and the curtains on the window facing the corridor are white and cut no light. Not much privacy either!
Breakfast start at 7.30 but no hot food or coffee is available for another 15 minutes. Food not to the standard of a 4 stars.
In short awful place to stay.
- Bastiaanvdv (8/5): 100% depends on room location - Initially I was assigned a room on the street side which had a frightening level of noise as the windows shut badly and there were creaks multiple centimers wide. After asking reception for a new room they gave me a room on the inside (garden side) of the hotel, which was quiet enough with good beds and strong Wifi.
- karininsingapore (8/5): Good looking hotel and well situated - We stayed in this hotel in San Chris for 2 nights. The hotel has a nice garden, well kept. Both the hotel and the rooms are very clean. The rooms are big, but there were very cold during the night. But there are enough blankets to keep you warm. Sleep quality was very good, a quiet place. Breakfast was good, many choises in fruit, bread and other food. If you didn't bring your own laptop or ipad, you are able to use the computer in the lobby. Internet is cheap but very very slow.
The hotel is well situated. Just a few blocks from the Zocalo and all the bars, shops and restaurants. You can go out in the evening and when you return to your hotel there will be a guard opening the door for you. So you can enter at any time you want during the night. I would really recommend this hotel!
- RidgwayPark (6/5): A bit noisy - I experienced most things that others have commented (free wifi, good rooms, reasonable location with good services close, good laundry facilities, pay for TV remote). It was probably the noisiest location I have stayed in while here in Mexico though and we won't be sorry to leave. One further note is that most of the electrically plugs are only two pins here so we had to buy an adapter for our US 3-pin plug.
- Cedric_The_Cat (8/5): Comfortable, clean. - Stayed here as part of a small group tour. The rooms are spacious and clean. Beds very comfortable. Quiet location. Spacious gardens. Free wi-fi available throughout the hotel, but there are computers available in the hotel hotel lobby for those without notebooks, ipads etc. Spacious laundry facilities available - token operated machines which you buy at reception (just make sure you don't buy the tokens at an "inflated" price!).
Good breakfast, with plenty of choices. Restaurant is expensive for dinner, but there are plenty of cheaper eating choices in the main pedestrian mall, as well as across the street from the hotel (very inexpensive taquerias). Also close by are corner shops, where you can buy water, beer, a small selection of wines, and a small number of "essentials".
Very comfortable hotel which I would happily stay in again.
- barbie1964_11 (2/5): forget it, choose another one ! - After a long trip in Mexico, 16 days and 10 hotels, I can say that this is a 1 star hotel, even if it pretends 4.
Uncleaned, the restaurant is dark and event the fruits are bad (difficult, in Mexico !!), in your bed there are very old sheets that you can see trough.
You have to pay if you want to look at the TV, the rooms are cold and you have to pay if you want to rent something to heat it.
Very unpleasent owner, frankly the worst hotel I've ever been in my life.
Go somewhere else !
- martyngs (8/5): Good hotel in San Cristobal - Stayed here for two nights as part of a small group tour. Quiet location (but you may be woken at 6.30 by early departing groups!)3 blocks from the main square, 3 blocks from the bus station and one block from Av Hidalgo, the cobbled pedestrianised main street. Modern, clean rooms with free wi-fi but no aircon (probably never need it at 2200 metres!). Three computers in lobby. On site restaurant – very good buffet breakfast. Good and inexpensive laundry (open 8am – 8pm) 100m down street towards bus station. Recommended.
