Guest Reviews
- Lucy (6/5): - Friendly staff, clean room, good beer at the pub. A bit expensive considering the bathroom and toilet are shared
- Alexandra (8/5): - Enjoyable stay, nice and clean. Simple room with separate shower and toilet facilities.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was very clean lovely linen and extra pillows. The bed was very comfy.
The stairs were steep and difficult for anyone who has a disability.the lighting could of been brighter however although breakfast is not included it was great value for money and a handy location.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I would say the room for the hotel was nice however the description is not very accurate. It isn’t that clear that the bathrooms are shared and also the facilities are not up to scratch for example the property lists ‘designer toiletries’ but these aren’t provided.
For the price of the property I would expect a higher standard.
- alison (8/5): - Comfortable bed and close to where I needed to be
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property was lovely, the room was great and the bed was comfortable. We stayed in the family room. Unfortunately it was a shared bathroom - we didn’t know this, I don’t believe it was obvious enough when we booked (I would not have booked it had I known the bathroom was shared). The bathroom in itself was good, but not advertised appropriately. The staff were great and very helpful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very close to town centre for shops restaurants and bars
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Convenient to the centre of Stamford, on road parking available, a car park about 200 metres away with very reasonable tariffs
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The rooms we stayed in was lovely, they were able to accommodate a change of check in time to suit us. Great location for central Stamford and lots of free on street parking close by.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very reasonably priced for location and reallt nice accommodation. Thank you
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was clean and tidy.
We thought it was a little pricy for 1night considering no on sweet no breakfast and no wifi.
The room and toilet needed a bit of maintinance at least it was clean and warm.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The price was competitive for the area, however I should have paid more attention when booking. The rooms are not en-suite. This is almost unheard of these days. There is no car park either.
The hotel promises Wi-fi but I couldn't get connected. My TV in my room only picked up radio.
The hotel was locked up at midnight and I was the only guest. So I was alone in the building all night.
In the morning there was no breakfast on offer and no one to offer me breakfast. I had a late start so didn't leave until after 09:00, there was still no one on site. Everywhere was locked up, I just left my keys and shut the door behind me.
If you are on a tight budget, give it a go, I'd rather pay a little more and get a normal hotel service.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - From arriving at this pub my heart sang if i hadnt already paid i would of gone some were else The landlord had no personality .He told me that i could not go to my room until 3pm .I am a toastmaster and was working from 3pm so i had to go back later.60£ for bed no breakfast.disgusting.I could go on and on if i could have a refund i would be very happy. Do not recomend to anyone.
- Gerald (6/5): Night in Stamford - Room was small and very warm with window open lots of road noise. Bed was not the comfiest but have to say room was very clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - 3 sets of very steep stairs quaint at the top which were difficult for us elderly but OK at the top
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This is a down-at-heel pub on the edge of town with very old-fashioned rooms without en-suite facilities. No breakfast or dinner available.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly and helpful staff.
Very comfortable and cosy room.
I would recommend a stay here.
- Maria (4/5): Green man stamford - Old building and room. Did not like the fact we were at the top of some steep winding stairs. Also I was looking for an en suite. When I went to bed had to bend in order not to knock my head on the ceiling. Did not understand why there was another bed in the room with out double bed made the room even smaller. Did not like having to go down the hall over the winding stairs. Also there is no car parking we had to leave the car on the street which was busy and noisy.
- Elizabeth (10/5): A huge hug of a welcome... - It’s like a welcoming hug when you arrive. The staff are extremely warm, helpful and friendly. It’s the only place in Stamford we would choose to stay overnight.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - An historic building dating back to 1785.
Very clean and nice and warm
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The pub is very old and as a result very quirky. The stairs to the rooms are a challenge sober, and great fun after a few of the wide selection of beers on offer in the bar.
Room was nice, though the bathroom and seperate toilet was shared by all 3 rooms. This was a shock at first, but must admit added to the quirky charm of the stay.
No breakfast on offer during our stay was disappointing, and hopefully something to be rectified soon?
- Jean (8/5): - I booked late so I did not have a great choice of where to stay. The Green Man offered me adequate accommodation. I found the heating not terribly efficient as the weather was exceptionally cold. Another blanket would have been good. The room was fine and was clean and the owners did well with the facilities that they have. However , I would have liked en suite although I was not bothered by anybody else. The people on site were pleasant and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - good place to stay. handy for restaurants, shops and pubs.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Owner and staff are wonderful.would stay there again
- David (10/5): - Can’t fault anything. Very friendly, clean and nothing too much trouble. Would definitely recommend.
- Derek (8/5): Pleasant 1 nighter - Was a very pleasant stay at the green man people were very helpful
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Venue was friendly and hassle free, Parking was an issue upon arrival but as it’s on street that’s not the venues fault.
Bar was busy and friendly and staff laid back
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A busy little pub when we arrived, friendly staff. Nice, clean, warm, comfortable room and shared bathroom, everything we needed for a 1 night stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Situated right near the centre of the town. Very spacious room & the staff were great!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very helpful staff
Peaceful comfortable nite if a little cold.
The only drawback being the stairs
Other than that a very restful stay suited to our needs.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice old pub with plenty of character. Friendly locals. Friendly and helpful staff and owner. Good value close to town. Dont expect big hotel facilities in this little old pub. The stairs to rooms are steep. Clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and would book again.
- Claire (8/5): - Was clean and staff were friendly but tv was not working .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The pub its self looks a bit spit and sawdust, but VERY nice friendley and helpful staff.
Room was up some step stairs but when there very clean and fresh (You could smell) clean bedding, everything we needed in the room. Bit cold at night due to Singel glazed window abd elc storage heaters but thats what ypu get with old building's.
Over all a very nice stay if in area again will lok see if we can get in agan.
Thank you.
- Craig (8/5): Perfectly suitable for overnight - Clean and comfortable, although a bit nosey.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice place, quiet and central to the town. A pub that is just a pub, rare to see these days but fine by me.
- Greg (10/5): Everything you would want. - Couldn't have asked for a better stay. Room was clean and the bar down stairs was warm and friendly with great bar staff to ensure a good experience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Bargain night in Stamford - A real drinker's pub with a great atmosphere and welcome. Good music on the jukebox and wide choice of beers. Room had everything I needed - basic but clean. Shared bathroom and toilet but only with my colleague in the room next door so no problem. Pub does not serve food but loads of places in short walking distance to drink at. Bargain price for Stamford.
- Anthony (6/5): So so stay at the Green Man - While the Green Man's price was very good , the accommodation was average and not without issues. There was no en suite - which I didn't realize until I got there. No bedside lamp or easy access to electricity to charge phones etc. The bed was very hard and the curtains didn't close properly. The pub didn't serve food, only bar snacks. All in all you get what you pay for.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very welcoming, facilities good, will stay again.
This property is a lovely ancient building therefore stairs are steep and top bedrooms have pitched roofs and dorms windows.
- Mark (8/5): - Great location and friendly staff. This is a pub with rooms rather than a full on hotel, but the competitive price reflects this. Just be aware you will be sharing a bathroom.
The rooms are a decent size and not unattractive and the beds are really comfortable.
- Jez (10/5): - A very welcoming experience, friendly staff, lovely bar
- Verified traveler (8/5): - close to town
bit noisy not ensuite but good for a one night budget stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): En route to Cambridge - This is a lovely friendly pub our bedroom was clean and comfortable and the host George really polite and helpful
- Jonathan (2/5): Would rather stay in my van - Woken up at 1.30am by the owner drunk complaining about a review online he thought was us then again at 3am trying to kick us out of the hotel for same reason was an absolute joke don't stay their
- David (8/5): Nice stay for a couple of nights - Nice and close to town centre, room nice and comfy. Shared bathroom which I didn’t see when we booked.
