Guest Reviews
- Stefano (10/5): Amazing -
- Alex (10/5): -
- Frederic (9/5): -
- Christine (9/5): Very nice place but overpriced - The private onsen, the view
Staff very nice and helpful Very expensive
- julie (10/5): Perfection! - The views were wonderful. And the room was darling!! The staff....oh my!!! They were AMAZING.
I ASKED IF THEY HAD CHAMPAGNE, THE BELL MAN SAID THEY DID NOT. WITHIN 15 MINUTES SOMEONE WAS KNOCKING AT MY DOOR WITH A BOTTLE OF CHAMPAGNE. THEY LITERALLY WENT SOMEWHERE AND FOUND A BOTTLE FOR ME. Over the top customer service. a+++! Oh, and we missed the shuttle so someone drove us to the ferry since it was raining. Super generous and kind. Nothing
- Michael (9/5): Great little Ryokan - Amazing views, helpful staff, good food and great value for money.
- Susan (10/5): Jukeiso is a beautiful and welcoming place to stay. The people and food were outstanding. - Loved the location, the room and the view was spectacular. The walk is beautiful from the village area to Jukeiso. The staff went out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. The communication before we arrived was excellent. We included dinner and breakfast (Japanese) and would highly recommend travellers do the same. There was nothing we didn’t like or enjoy during our stay.
- Gerome (10/5): -
- Frederico (10/5): Our stay at Jukeiso in Miyajima was exceptional in a very understated and authentic way. From the moment we arrived, th - Our stay at Jukeiso in Miyajima was exceptional in a very understated and authentic way.
From the moment we arrived, the service stood out for its precision and genuine attentiveness. The staff was consistently courteous, thoughtful, and accommodating, striking a balance that is increasingly rare — professional, yet warm without being intrusive.
The room offered a remarkable view of the Itsukushima torii, which becomes even more special early in the morning and at dusk. It adds a quiet, contemplative dimension to the stay that is hard to replicate elsewhere.
The overall condition of the property is excellent. Everything felt extremely well maintained — clean, organized, and with a level of care that reflects high standards across both the accommodation and common areas. The bathroom, in particular, was modern and impeccably kept.
Dining followed the traditional ryokan style and was very well executed, with a clear focus on quality ingredients and balance.
One highlight worth mentioning is the private onsen experience, which can be reserved for a 30-minute session — a thoughtful addition that enhances the overall stay.
The location itself becomes especially charming in the evening, when Miyajima quiets down after the day visitors leave.
Finally, the transfer service was efficient and seamless, making arrival and departure notably easy.
Overall, Jukeiso delivers a level of hospitality that feels elevated, consistent, and carefully executed — a place that clearly operates at a different standard.
- Edward (10/5): Beautiful location and ryokan, would definitely stay again. Food was incredible! - The staff were great and couldn't do enough for you to make you feel welcome and to enjoy your stay. Location is spectacular with a view of the gate, and tucked away in a quiet secluded area. Welcomed warmly with tea on arrival. Food was incredible, although many courses so make sure you don't eat a big lunch so you can appreciate it all!! Lovely relaxing environment which was thoroughly enjoyed.
- Virgil (8/5): Great location, perfect views, unique stay with great staff. - Location and views of the Tori and pagoda were incredible. The elevated location offered fantastic views of these beautiful places. The restaurant was very tasty and the meals were filling. Mini bar costs were incredibly reasonable especially for an island.
- Sandra (10/5): Loved it and would highly recommend. - The dinner was delicious and all the staff were so helpful, cheerful and polite.
The location is a bit out of town but up a hill with impressive views and walkable (without luggage). I’m not a massive fan of futon beds but these were ok and the overall experience was very authentic throughout the entire hotel.
- Stéphanie (10/5): -
- Siegfried (9/5): - Die Lage war gut. Die Toilette der Hammer. Personal sehr freundlich.
- Ping yan sam (8/5): it was a quite and relaxing stay - The hotel is a bit further away from the main tourist areas. However, a shuttle service is available upon request—simply ask the staff at the Pier Tourist Information Centre to contact the hotel for pickup.
Our room offered a great view, which was truly wonderful. The room was spacious, comfortable, and designed in a traditional Japanese style. There is also a private outdoor onsen, available by reservation. Reservations are arranged at check‑in. The hotel is about a 10–15 minute drive from the pier. There is only one convenience store near the pier, so it is recommended to purchase your drinks and snacks before checking in.
Both dinner and breakfast are served in relatively small portions, and there could be a wider variety of food choices.
- Joana Carraro (9/5): -
- Natalia (8/5): -
- Tracy (10/5): - We loved the friendly staff, beautiful rooms and delicious food. We would love to stay again. Nothing.
- Vásquez Barrera (10/5): Magic place - The view was awesome, I can't describe this part, you need to view it for understanding me. Everything was great, I don't have any complain fro them.

- Rahul (10/5): Best stay out of the numerous luxury spots we experienced on our 3 week trip. - Best location on the island.
Top floor room had incredible views.
- Sabyasachi (10/5): Great stay in miyajima, highly recommend! - Lovely property, great location, Japanese style room with a view Nothing

- Parker (8/5): -
- David Nathaniel (10/5): 10/10 - Everything :D Nothing :D
- SUSAN (10/5): - Dinner, view and staff were excellent
Rien
- Adélaïde (10/5): -
- Genevieve (10/5): -
- Darya (10/5): -
- Ian (8/5): -
- Jeannaud (9/5): - The private bath has a magnifique view. We enjoyed it greatly.
As well, our room was perfect, with a stunning view on the Tori.
The people who welcomed us were very kind.
We really appreciated our journey in Miyajima thanks to Jukeiso place.
- Brandon (9/5): -
- Elizabeth (10/5): Excellent traditional Japanese experience - Staff very attentive Nothing
- karen (10/5): - Enjoyed being immersed in the whole Japanese experience, the room with futons, evening meal and breakfast . To be on the island after dark is very special Nothing. Quite a few steps to get up to the property
- Rafael (10/5): Maravilloso - Tradicional japonés. Personal muy atento. Gran cena y desayuno. Nada
- JORGE (10/5): -
- Vittorio (9/5): - mi è piaciuto tutto peccato che pioveva
- Orakarn (10/5): Awesome views with a relaxing ryokan style vibes. - I booked specifically for the beach side view and it was great to see the Itsukushima Shrine Otorii Gate at night and in the morning from our view. No regrets! We also had a great bathroom equipped with a great tub with a water jet. It was great after a long day walking to just soak and relax in a wide tub. The listing has full transparency and as it mentioned dinner is additional cost and you need to inform them ahead of time. The island's restaurants and stores closes pretty early so just be mindful of you and family needs to order ahead of time or eat early before everything closes up.
- Kanon (10/5): -
- Stephanie (8/5): We enjoyed our time at Jukeiso. - The view of the floating Toriii Gate from our room was amazing. The Japanese dinner was wonderful. The Japanese breakfast was a bit disappointing compared to the dinner experience the night before.
- Stijn (9/5): A fantastic ryokan that really makes the Miyajima experience great! - The property is nestled at the edge of the main town on Miyajima and has great views. The food was very good, with fresh catch from right off the island, and they have options for Western breakfasts to suit Western palates. Each room gets private bath time in addition to public baths being available, and they were lovely to relax in. I was most impressed by the staff who were incredibly friendly and helpful, and who went above and beyond to help after my dad took a very nasty fall hiking in the mountains on the island. The only thing that we did not like as much was the futon mattresses. They were quite thin and felt a bit old, which made sleeping a bit uncomfortable as we were almost directly on the tatami.
- Emmanuel (9/5): Excellent location. Friendly & attentive staff. Traditional ryokan. - The staff were very helpful and accommodating. One of us was vegetarian and because we informed them in advance, they prepared an excellent vegetarian meal for my companion. Facilities were spotless. They cleaned the wheels on our luggage so that dirt would not be tracked into our room where everything was spotless. We had a view of the Tori Gate and it was memorable to wake up in the morning with this view. The hotel has an excellent location and there was a free shuttle to and from the port. It's a bit expensive. Check-out time is early. It's at 10:00 AM. Most hotel check out time is 11:00 AM or 12 noon.
- Ethan (10/5): - The location is absolutely stunning and service from the staff cannot be complimented enough
- Shelley (4/5): Not what I had hoped for. - Hotel staff were very kind. It was old and shabby. Beds were not comfortable. Bathroom and shower were old. Onsen was shabby and moldy.
- Allison S (6/5): Great staff and nice view, but hotel has seen better days. - The staff were very kind and helpful. Quick to respond with any questions. Excellent shuttle service to the station upon checkout. Room was spacious with an amazing view overlooking the shrine. Rooms were very outdated and worn with a distinct mold smell which lingered on our clothes. We had to wash everything after we reached our next hotel. A very steep and long stair climb up to the property with no handicapped access. Not friendly for tired legs.
- Karen (9/5): -
- van Uden (10/5): -
- ATSUSHI (8/5): -

- pat (9/5): - Such a spacious room with spectacular views. Meals excellent. Staff very helpful.
- NANCY (10/5): - I wish I could give a higher rating than a 10. Went there with a Japanese friend of my son's . She thought a traditional Japanese experience would be good. . Tthe room was traditional. I did not do the bath however my friend did. She said was very nice. We were served a traditional dinner and breakfast that exceeded our expectations. Folks don't miss this.. The staff was kind and just wonderful. Staff picked us up from ferry docking and took us to hotel and back. Hotel is walking distance from sites. Is nestled in the hills. We had a beautiful view form up in hills we were able to see the Tori Gate and the island view of the sea. Was just wonderful. Highly recommend. oh and they supply you with Yukata to wear to dinner if you wish. Nothing I didn't like. Wish I could have stayed longer.
- didier (10/5): -
- Livagea (10/5): -
- Summer (10/5): A dream stay! My biggest regret is not booking a longer stay 😭 - Everything!!! I can't explain how this stay exceeded our expectations. The kindest people, most beautiful view, cozy feeling and just made us wish we stayed there longer. Honestly I can't think of a single bad moment.
- Reva Srinivasan (8/5): Spectacular view and helpful shuttle service. - We loved the view from Jukeiso - you can see the floating shrine from the rooms. The staff was great, they have a shuttle to pick us up and also were kind enough to deliver our luggage later at 3 pm at the ferry because we checked out 9 am to sightsee. They also accomodated our vegetarian diet. We loved the bath they had available for booking. The room was big but looked bare inside, although they had placed flowers. I was hoping the futon would be more comfortable.
- Dominique (9/5): -
- Alexandra (10/5): A place we’d like to visit again - Beautiful room with an amazing view, lovely stuff and delicious food. Super convenient shuttle service to the ferry. We liked everything!
- KENNETH (10/5): Very relaxing. - Views were spectacular. The staff was great! The restaurant was good.
- David (10/5): - The staff was very welcoming and gracious. The room (401) was over the top amazing. Easy walking to any attraction or cafe in town.
- Patricia (10/5): Wonderful ryokan with great views and great private and public baths. - The shuttle service from the ferry terminal, the private bath (free of charge) available for timeslot bookings, and the staff were all wonderful and exceptional. Amazing views. The private bath was a welcome amenity for us as we didn't realize it was something offered without extra charge. It has two showers and a bath with adjustable temperature (add hot or cold water to adjust). It is not a big negative but it is a bit of a hike to get there with luggage if you don't get the staff to shuttle you from the ferry terminal. Otherwise it is a short walk to all the attractions. The basement onsen is also quite hot if you're not used to the hotter baths and it isn't adjustable like the private bath is.
