I didn't dislike it but the bath temp is rather high. I don't mind hot bath but some people may think it's too hot. I wish they had a cold water bath like some other hot spring places.

• benjamin (10/5): Parfait! - Un hôtel formidable, très bien équipé, parfaitement confortable, très propre, avec un personnel au petit soin, un Honsen génial, et situé au bord d'une rivière avec de petites cascades, visibles depuis les chambres, le lobby, les salons, et le spa. Le restaurant est très qualitatif. Ils prêtent même des kimonos! Je le recommande!

• TING AN (9/5): 超讚，下次要多住兩天 - 溫泉很舒服，麥茶很好喝！飯店內很舒適，足湯區很棒，也可以來杯小酒，早餐跟晚餐也很合胃口，早晚都在泡湯真的舒服，在窗邊看瀑布真的很愉悅，房間也很乾淨 地點在東山溫泉，離車站遠了一點，要搭會津巴士或是叫計程車，如果需要接駁車需要提早預訂
• Yasuhiko (7/5): コンシェルジェの一言一言は、たいせつです。なぜ４万３千円を支払って宿泊し、夕食時間が５０分に満たない時間になったのか、釈然としません。 - 渓流に沿った立地である点が良かった。温泉には、のびのびとしてゆったりと入っていることができました。夕食時には、配膳の方の接客が素朴で、ていねいでした。 午後４時台に旅館に着きましたが、車を駐車場に移して止めるのに少々手間取りました。それでも５時前にはチェックインしたのですが、コンシェルジェの方から、夕食は８時からの席しかない旨申し渡され、やむを得ず応じることにしました。温泉に入った時間以外は、長くテレビを観て過ごしましたが、８時過ぎたあたりからの夕食はテーブル席を仕切り板で仕切った形で、隣席の方とひどく近い距離でとることになっており、気が滅入りました。夕食会場では、８時台後半にはほとんどの客が食事を終え、食事会場に残っていたのは私たちを含めて全部で３組だけとなりましたが、他の２組の方々はすでに食事を終えて、それぞれ会話を楽しんでおられました。９時頃には会場にいる客は私達だけとなり、あちらこちらでスタッフの方々がガチャガチャと後始末を本格的に始めましたので、いたたまれない気持ちになり、席を立つことにしました。８時１０分過ぎに料理の説明を受け、９時ごろに終えるという夕食の流れでした。

• Lee (10/5): - The onsen. It was our first onsen, the whole experience was unbelievable. The view from.our traditional Japanese room was to die for. It felt like we were part of the bamboo forest. The meals were such an amazing experience. It was a feast for your eyes. Staff were amazing, so many courses. As foreigners some of it wasnt to our liking and we felt wasteful. Extremely grateful for the beautiful traditional Japanese experience

La cena è stata una delle migliori avute in Giappone, molto completa e caratteristica. Molto bella anche la zona Onsen che si affaccia sul torrente. Migliorabile la conoscenza dell'inglese da parte del personale anche se sempre molto disponibile sembra strano che debbano utilizzare un traduttore anche solo per informazioni di base.

• Charlotte (8/5): Enjoyable stay in a magical place, despite poor experience with receptionists - It was a beautiful, scenic traditional (yet renotaved) hotel by a river. The onsen baths were fabulous and varied - at times I found myself on my own and it felt special. The rooms were comfortable and very bright, with view over the river. 1. The food was very good kaiseki ryori but maybe a little too complicated especially the kid's version which was still overly complicated and we ended up wasting too much. 2. The staff at reception weren't very good - we went to reception early to request a private bath booking for the family and were told to come back at 6pm to see if there was anything left at that stage, as we hadn't chosen the 'private bath' plan (plan that can only be booked through their own website, not through booking). It felt like we were second class guests, and at that price, it felt a bit disrespectful. The schedule looked like there were available slots but the man did not want to hear anything about it. It wasn't a language barrier either since we speak Japanese. The notice in the room said that we could just ring reception to book a private bath, there was nothing about waiting until 6pm. So that was a down side! Another thing was that we weren't told we had to book the hotel shuttle at check-in if we wanted to use it to go back to station on check-out day so we asked the receptionist to book us a taxi. She booked one car and we were six guests so when the taxi came, he couldn't take us all in and had to call another taxi himself. So all in all, the experience with reception felt rigid and sloppy.

If you want to experience a first class Japanese hospitality with affordable price, this i - The room, facilities (especially the private onsen), dinner and staff were exceptional. The information on how to get there and the free shuttle service were limited. To get there from Aizuwakamatsu train station, we got on a local bus to 東山温泉入口. You can also arrange for a free shuttle service (from the train station to the hotel) with the hotel but it is only available at 6pm and there might also be a language barrier for non-Japanese speakers as you can only do the booking via phone call. From the hotel to Aizuwakamatsu station, we booked the free shuttle service with the front desk. But don’t forget to do it a day before check-out. It is FOC and only available at 11.30am.

The food was great and so was closeness to all amenities in aizu cbd. The most beautiful aspect of the stay was their open air onsens which was exceptional! The size of the room was a bit smaller than I expected, but it was a well organised room.

• Francois (9/5): Un très bel endroit typiquement japonais - Très beau Ryokan-onsen traditionnel : chambre tatamis- futon pour la nuit, belle vue des bains 'du lobby et de la salle à manger donnant sur un torrent. Excellente cuisine typiquement japonaise et variée : en 2 jours, 2 dîners différents ( ce qui est certes la norme, mais 2 petits déjeuners différents eux aussi! Petites attentions sympas: thé matcha et glace offerts au salon, de même que bière et glace à l'italienne l'après midi uniquement à la sortie des bains. Comme souvent au Japon, connaissance sommaire en anglais basique du personnel, gênant surtout à la réception et wifi capricieuse selon les endroits où l'on se trouve

You couldn’t go into the communal baths if you have tattoos, you have to book private baths for a fee. Rural Japan isn’t as open minded as the big cities. Also you could hear the pumps from the baths on the first floor in your room on the second floor when you slept on the futons. When they got turned off, it was fine.

• sonja (6/5): Beware of futons - The room was tidy apart from some cobwebs in the sealing. The hotel in general had quite a lot of cobwebs and insects here and there on corridors etc. English was mentioned as one of the languages but still it was very difficult to take care of anything in English. Otherwise service was polite. The one thing that really seems wrong to us westerners is the fact that the traditional rooms are said to have 'futons'. These are in fact thin ordinary foldable matresses and uncomfortable to people normally sleeping on beds. We thought of futons as thick matresses filled with hay, so quite sturdy - but no.
• YUKIYO (6/5): - 部屋全体が寛げる様にか、暗い証明で洋服のロッカーの中も見えず持参した懐中電灯で確認したら蜘蛛の巣が張っていて、スタッフの方に掃除して頂きました。若い頃と違い、歳を取ると暗い証明は見え難くて、疲れました。窓からの景色は川が流れてて、とても良い景色でしたが。
• Po Tak (10/5): - Had had a great stay in this beautiful hotel. One of our group members had left behind his bag in a remote restaurant prior to his arrival and with the great assistance of the hotel staff, we managed eventually to confirm that the bag had been sent to a police station. The staff, who didn’t speak good English , had been very patient in understanding my Japanese of limited proficiency , and had the matter sorted out to our great satisfaction.

• sydneysider48 (10/5): A delightful onsen. - This recently and very tastefully renovated onsen was delightful. With an excellent location in a valley on the fringe of Aizuwakamatsu, but only a short bus or taxi ride away from the centre of town (a regular bus service stops right outside the ryokan) we enjoyed the view of a rapidly flowing stream with beautiful waterfalls and bamboo groves from our room, the lounge, banquet hall and baths. Our room was very spacious, comfortable and nicely furnished, with a small wooden bath, and in excellent condition. Our meals, served in the cavernous and rather characterless "banquet hall" (surprising as the rest of the ryokan. was so tastefully decorated), were excellent, generously sized and delicious. Both the indoor and outdoor baths were superb - large, well appointed, spotlessly clean, atmospheric and well maintained - and all of the staff were very kind and pleasant. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely onsen and thought it offered excellent value for money. Our only issue was that the banquet hall seemed to be understaffed, as service was quite slow.

• 真紀 (8/5): - 宿が川沿いにあり、露天風呂はその音に癒されますが、スタンダードなお部屋は、窓が開かないので、川の音が殆ど聞こえません。 露天の足湯があり、川の音に癒されながら、ゆっくり過ごす事が出来ますが、2人かけが2席しかないので、狭く感じますし、長々と座るには気が引けます… タオルは室内の備え付けを利用する感じですが、宿泊中交換がありません(フロントに言えばおそらく可能) タオルをかけておく所が小さく、バスタオルの干せる大きめのタオルかけがあると良いなぁと感じました。 スタンダードなプランでは、部屋食ではなく、食堂での食事ですが、客数が多い為か、用意してあった感の食事内容ですが、一品出来立ての品の提供あり、それが嬉しかったです。 概ね価格に見合った宿だと思います。

• Masayosi (2/5): - 良かった点は目の前を豪快な滝の流れを見ながらの大浴場の温泉は広くてすばらしい。しかも夕刻限定で温泉から上がると生ビールとソフトクリームが無料で提供されていて格別なおいしさ。夕食・朝食も豪華で中居さんも感じが良くてきぱきと給仕してくれた。 しかしこれらを考慮してもとても知人には勧る気にはなれない。まずフロントの対応は最悪で接客の何たるかを知らないのではないかと思ってしまう。チェックイン時間の10分前ほどに到着してロビーでまっていたが、フロントのスタッフは全く反応なし。その内別の客も到着してきたので2分前ぐらいに窓口に行き名前を告げたが、スタッフは時計を見てまだチェックイン時間前だと言いたげな様子。結局嫌々ながら手続きを始めてはくれたが、自分は1分たりとも始業前には働かないという態度がありありと感じられた。ビジネスホテルなどでも部屋の準備が済んでいれば時間前に受け付けてくれるところも多い中、ある意味で稀有な経験だった。 それ以外にも客室には入ったところに押し入れ、トイレ、シャワー室、エアコン・照明スイッチなどがあるのだがどこも薄暗くてスマホをかざさないと場所が分からない。居間は明るいがスイッチ類が全て居間の外にありスタンドもない為、就寝時は真っ暗な中を布団までたどり着かねばならない。部屋に置いてあるマニュアルには客のプライバシー尊重で中居さんは部屋には原則入らない云々などが書いてあるが、正直に人出不足で勘弁してほしいと書くべきではないだろうか。 極めつけが前の宿泊客が飲んで使ったお茶のティーバッグが入れ物の中に残っていたこと。さすがにこんな体験は初めて。人出が足りないからなのだろうが、接客サービスの体をなしていない感じがした。

• KritsanaP_13 (10/5): Nice onsen hotel - Shosuke no Yado is a beautiful onsen hotel, located a bit outside Aizuwakamatsu city. It's attached to a river and waterfall. Japanese room is quite large and next to the river. There is tea set and sweet provided in every room. There is public onsen on the first floor which can enjoy waterfall during onsen and also private onsen with charge on the first floor and rooftop. The hotel provide free rental colorful Yukata for all women guest. Dinner set is lovely. There are a lot of food, fresh and delicious. Breakfast is also great. A mochi is the best. Hotel staff are nice and helpful.
• Apple_HK (6/5): The reality is a bit different from what's shown in the website - We visited Aizuwakamatsu at the national holiday weekend so there were limited options to us in this famous onsen town, Hagishiyama. We wanted a more modern hotel, and while the shots of the room look good on their website, the reality is that it is much smaller than I had expected. Though the room looked new, the bathroom was a disappointment, small and shabby. With two large beds in the room, that leaves little space for moving around. And they try hard to squeeze all essential items of an onsen hotel room into the smallest space possible, including placing the vanity unit in the living room opposite the sleeping platform, sharing space with a kettle and drinking water glasses. There is a shoe stand and a folding screen in-between the toilet and bathroom, which is hugely strange and inconvenient. Ours is a 12-tatami room, which I expect would be good for 3 people, but the reality is that it is so cramped that one would not want to spend much time in the room. Perhaps that’s the reason why the hotel provided a lot of public sitting areas. Yes, for guests to admire the magnificent view of the mountain stream, but also to stay out of the uncomfortable room. The room was a huge disappointment but there are some nice sides of the hotel. Dinner was really good; we had window seats facing the waterfall and the Aizu beef was very delicious. The public onsets, especially the outdoor ones, are nice, situated just next to the mountain stream. All in all, for the US680 I paid for three, it was not good value for money.

• Naomichi (10/5): - 今までの旅館の中で、価格以上のクオリティーを感じました。ウェルカムドリンクは、抹茶と羊羹のサービスがあり、客室は広く綺麗で更に温泉饅頭を温めて食べれるよう工夫があったり、何とマッサージチェアが完備されており大変感動いたしました！お風呂は、川のせせらぎを感じられ、どこからかシャボン玉が流れてきて、とても幻想的でした。貸切風呂がありましたが、料金をもっと安くして欲しいと思いました。朝と晩の浴場が男女と入れ替わりがあったのは、とても良かったです。欲を言えば、サウナを完備したらもっと最高です。湯上がりに麦茶が飲めて、ソフトクリームが食べられたのは、感動的でした。食事は、朝晩頂きましたが、どれも食べれきれないボリュームがあり、また川や海そして山の幸がふんだんに盛り込まれており、白米がとても美味しいかったと感じられました。つきたてのお餅が色々な味で楽しめたのも、良かったと思います。夜の旅館の対岸に写し出すプロジェクションマッピングのアイディアは、素晴らしいのですが、内容をもっと会津の歴史を感じられる内容にするともっと良いと思いました。また、機会があれば是非行きたいです。ありがとうございました！
• OTA (2/5): 🅾️より - タビは設置してなく、部屋は狭く、職員のおもてなしも非常に悪い。食事は普通の下。温泉の普通の下。お菓子は部屋にあるが、説明も無し。二度ときたくない。

• Masumi (6/5): 景観が素晴らしいが、館内のスペースにゆとりがない - 渓谷沿いにあることで、素晴らしい景観を得られる一方、建物内のスペースにゆとりが少なく、くつろぎ感を充分に得られない。部屋のドア付近が非常に出入りしにくく、大浴場の脱衣場と洗い場は窮屈ですぐに込み合ってしまった。和洋室の寝床は寝起きに不便で、ベッドにしたほうがいいと思った。食事はほぼ満足した。スタッフも皆丁寧で一生懸命なのは感じられるが、食事会場入口の案内などもう一工夫してくれれば行列して待たずにすむと思う。
• Verified traveler (6/5): 省エネ？のサービス - 施設や備品、アメニティ等等必要なものを細かく研究して配置してあり全般に不自由はない。一方で駐車場の送迎係、フロントなど人的サービスは宿泊客のニーズに応えよう、困りごとを解決しようという意思が感じられず、サービスレベルが低い。

• Keizo (8/5): I Love This Hotel - I love this hotel. Why? 1. Everyplace is so clean. 2 Employees are well trained, friendly and polite. 3 beddings seemed to be incense put in and I felt relaxing 4 There is waterfall in their location and though you can see it near the entrance but it would be much much better to stay there and enjoy hot springs seeing the waterfall 5 There are several hotspings and they have soft spring quality and you can have draft beer free after the bath( a cup per person though) 6 Good dinner and breakfast . I was excited to see very famous local Sake on their wine list which is very rare.(The name is ''Hiroki ''for your information) 7 A bus stop is in front of the hotel Only one exception is that they have only one elevator near the entrance and the hotel extends along the river so if you stay in the fartherst room from the entrane, you have to walk a long way to the elevator. So I advise you that you should select rooms closer to the entrance if you can.

• Verified traveler (4/5): ファミレスより酷い対応 - 滝の音がうるさすぎる。窓を開けた時は良くても閉めた時は何と無く聞こえる位でないと。水量が多かったせいもあると思うが安普請さが窺える。夕食の時間は特に指定が無く、いつでも良いと言われたのに、会場に着いても案内も無く10分以上待たされ、声をかけて文句を言ってからやっと案内された。ファミレスでももっとまともな対応をする。楽しみにしていた気分が台無し。

• JUNKO (4/5): 残念な旅行 - まず、夕飯が付いてないのなら、素泊まりと表記すべきなのでは？現地で夕飯無いと言われて、レストランも無いと言われ、夕飯食べに外に出ました。 イメージ画像には夕食の写真載ってたので、付くもんだと思ってしまいました。 きっと私のような人はいると思うので、ホテル側も何か対応して頂けると有りがたいですね。 フロントに訪ねても、愛想なくて、目も合わさない男性ばかりで、気分悪かったです。

Very neat clean and comfortable room. Onsen was amazing! I used rental bath! I enjoyed wonderful sky and nature! Just loved everything about this place!
