• Julian (10/5): Something we will fondly remember for a very long time. - Ideally located within Nara Park, it was clean and comfortable while offering a traditional Japanese experience. Food was exceptional with great attention to detail but was overly generous in terms of quantity.

Además el onsen está muy bien Es un tema personal, pero nos equivocamos y reservamos sin cena (incluso nos mandaron un correo diciendo que había que estar antes de las 6 para cenar), que es un error durmiendo en esta ubicación. No nos ayudaron para poder solucionar el problema. Nivel de inglés muy bajo. La experiencia total fue muy cara.

Great service especially from the gentleman in the reception who was very helpful arranging transport when there were no available taxis. I find it difficult and very uncomfortable sleeping on a futon but it’s part of the experience I guess. I was also surprised by the shared bathroom considering the high price. Dinner is nice, breakfast is ok

• Saleh (10/5): A special place to be at peace with nature - This place is magical and allows you to connect with nature and Japanese traditions. The staff are always so warm, hospitable and go above and beyond to make your stay memorable. My second time here and I’ll be back again soon. Nothing.

• Mari (9/5): A great stay to experience a traditional Japanese ryokan. - The location was great as we visited Todaiji in the late afternoon and Katsugataisha in the morning so we had minimal crowds and really got to experience in a peaceful atmosphere. The food was very good. The temperature was a little cold overall as with older Japanese structures so had to use the space heater.
• Shuping (1/5): Run! - This is the worst Ryokan experience. For over $550 a night, this hotel is a joke! The room is very small, and lack electrical outlets to plug in our own electric devices to recharge - we had to unplug the TV in order to plug in the plastic electric tea kettle to heat water for tea. The dining experience was also terrible - since this place does not have a dining room, both breakfasts and dinners had to be served in room - which would have been OK except the food was very bad, the fish stale, and I found black spots on the strawberry they were serving. The dinner process was long and drawn out over close to two hours because the maid would come and deliver one dish, then wait for another twenty minutes to deliver another dish. By the time dinner was finally over, we were exhausted. The first dinner was so bad, we forgo our money and went elsewhere for the second night's dinner which we had already paid for - yes it was that bad and we could not put ourselves through that again. I have had wonderful experiences with ryokans in other cities in Japan, and this one was a fraud. Avoid at all cost. Everything! See above. I wouldn't have paid $50 a night for this place. I do not understand how they could charge the exhorbitant amount for one night's stay.

Staff were lovely too. Only place in Japan we had to take a taxi to. Would be nice if they had a shuttle to the station like others have mentioned.
• Cécile (9/5): Nice experience at traditional Ryokan. - Close to a beautiful temple that you can visit in the early morning almost with no tourists. The traditional Ryokan is situated on the top of a hill and forest. Nara is visited by a lot of people in summer and it was very hot. We where very happy to find shelter at this traditional and quiet place. A bus took us near there. We took a bath in the shared Onsen. One for women, one for men. The water was very hot. Except us, we where alone. At 18.30 we where served a wonderful meal in our room and our family of 4 had the best time. Afterwards they prepared our beds. Everything was done with a lot of care and we slept well. -
• Debbie (10/5): Great - They gave special care as we were on honeymoon. Enjoyed the great service. Free entry to the hillside with picnic mat and breakfast bento. Superb! They also helped us call for taxi and was overall very attentive. It's likely normal but found water slugs at the bathroom area floor after the shower. It likely came in for the water. Other than this, everything was great. Do note that most depend on translator machine to translate to English. So be patient, and use your own phone app to increase better communication with each other :)
• Zachary (10/5): Incredibly well run and well equipped Ryokan. - The food is phenomenal, the onsen is incredible, the staff are absolutely amazing and will bend over backwards to make sure your stay is fantastic. It's also located basically inside a UNESCO world heritage site. I would have to nitpick to list anything here.

• Karolína (9/5): Great authentic Japanese experience - This ryokan is a great experience and I definitely recommend it to everyone. Staff is super friendly and helpful, rooms are beautiful, food is delivered to your room and you can taste so many new things. With the japanese kimono and sake in your hand the experience is really authentic :) The only “problem” is, that this accommodation does not provide shuttle from the station - we came with more suitcases and on our way back we couldnt get a taxi - its better to leave your luggage in station lockers and then just walk through Nara park without it.

If you are exploring Nara I would recommend taking at least a day to just enjoy this hotel stay. We were greeted by extremely friendly staff who helped us with every little thing, from taking our luggage to ordering a taxi for our departure. We were served luxurious meals for dinner and breakfast in our room, by staff who set our table and made our bed. The location was magical with beautiful nature and deers roaming around outside. They had an amazing natural hot spring bath as well. Would warmly recommend this place.

The property is situated close to the park within a walking distance and up on the hill, so you get a good view of a sunset. The food was beautifully plated, all the dishes taste very good and you can tell that it’s from attention to details. The breakfast menu could use some variety. I understand most people might not stay longer than 2 nights, but if so, the variety of menu should be added in a mix.

• Filippo (10/5): Real Japan, in the magical Nara park - This is a magical place, inside the Nara Park. Surrounded by nature and deers, it allows you to feel the real soul of Japan. Everything was perfect: service, structure, position, food, even the night sky. Its position allows you to reach the strategic points of Nara by walk in about 10 minutes. This means that if you wake up early enough, you will be able to dodge the main flux of tourists. And this is an asset in my opinion.
• Yikai (6/5): A very traditional ryokan experience - - The food, very artistically crafted and beautifully served. If you are not a fish person you might struggle, there's a lot of raw /strongly flavoured fish dishes. - The environment. You can walk straight into the Kasuga Forest, it's very peaceful and surrounded by pristine nature. - The staff were very friendly, but please be aware that they speak very little English, so knowing some Japanese would be very helpful. - Very late check-in time. In our other accommodations, we were always able to check-in before the quoted time if the room was ready before. Here we were unable to check in until the exact time quoted, so we didn't feel like we had much time to enjoy the place. - Lack of privacy. If you are expecting an experience like a hotel, then this is not the right place for you. The staff constantly come in and out of your room to set tables, serve courses of the meal and set up the futon beds, then they come in early in the morning to wake you up and remove the futon beds. It's not relaxing at all. - No private shower facilities. If you're a gaijin like me, you might be shocked by the lack of a private shower, but I guess I should have done my homework more. There is only a public shower and onsen here, so if you don't feel comfortable baring it all in front of strangers, then this may not be the right place for you

• Charlie (10/5): Will definitely be staying here again - Extremely friendly staff and a really nice place. You arrive and the staff take your bags and shoes as they take you to your room and give you a tour of the place, you are then left to settle down before your 11 course dinner arrives in your bedroom. The staff are so friendly, in the morning we got taken to the deer park by a lovely older man and given Benton boxes to eat for breakfast. Really loved my stay here, the bath was amazing too. Outside of being a bit of a challenge to get to which you can't help, the tranquillity is very worth it; my only regret is not staying longer!!

The staff was incredibly helpful, friendly and welcoming, the food was absolutely divine, the facilities were beautiful and the private outdoor bath was exquisite. Everything was great! Some open windows upstairs I think could allow people from other rooms downstairs to see into one of our rooms…

• Emily (10/5): Awesome staff and wonderful food. - Location is great, right in Nara park. Staff was helpful and understanding of the language barrier. Let us drop our bags off early before check-in. Great food and service for both supper and breakfast. Nice big room for the two of us. They were nice enough to order our taxi for us the morning we left so we didn't have to worry about hiking back to the train (or bus) station.
• Ivhan (7/5): Good - Staff is awesome and the location is great. My onsen was not clean. There waa hairs and bugs inside of it. When i filled the water. At night there was a giant spider on the ceiling above our futons. When i tried to call for some help (worried it was gonna fall in the futon) noone answered and i had to handle it myself.

I especially enjoyed the little morning hike up Wakakusa-Yama mountain with a delicious breakfast. I wish there were outlets near the bed (futon) so I could have my phone nearby while it’s being charged at night.

• Darren (10/5): Ryokan in the park - Fabulous Ryokan experience. Located on the edge of Nara Park (deers at the front door). Bus 77 from Nara JR takes you to Nara Kasugano Forum stop, then 15mins walk. Todai-ji 10mins walk. Staff were very professional, helpful and extremely friendly. Room 107 (Kiku) was quiet and spacious overlooking wooded area (deers). Choice of Yukata for the ladies. Exceptional dinner and breakfast (Japanese) delivered to the room by the kind staff (coffee available in reception). Bathing can be taken in the relaxing Onsen with all the usual amenities. Would highly recommend.
• Syahirah (10/5): Wonderful and quaint experience in spring - The ryokan is right in Nara park, making it a very wonderful experience. when you step out you are met with very adorable deers. Walks at night meant also being able to see the beautiful night scenes of the shrines and temples in Nara park. The ryokan’s meals are huge so make sure not to eat too much before the meals! Miho, who served us, was the kindest most pleasant person. I really enjoyed our conversations together. At night, the hot bath is a pleasant end of tiring days. Truly recommend this to everyone!

Amazing experience and exceptional food and display. Staff were so kind and accommodating to us. Everything was great. I honestly don't have anything that I didn't like.

• Jakob (8/5): The perfect Ryokan experience with excellent food. - An authentic experience for a Ryokan. Excellent food experience and a lot of effort by the chefs. Nice and cozy bath house. Went in December and Ryokans are not isolated. If you go during the winter, be prepared for a cold temperatur outside and inside.
• Sanne (10/5): Both most expensive and best stay of our holiday - Very luxurious Ryokan very close to the deer park which allowed us to explore the nicest area of Nara in the evening as well as early morning. The dinner was exceptional and they went above and beyond to meet dietary wishes. We had the room with private onsen which is definitely a recommendation! It was quite expensive but our best stay of the trip! The staff was very friendly too
