Guest Reviews
- Kerry (8/5): - Perfect ski in ski out location. Spiny skiing conditions were still good early April
- Jiratt (8/5): -
- Ning (10/5): Had 3 nights stay there, breakfast and dinner included was the choice you must have, food is delicious and many varietie - The location, the food(breakfast and dinner included in the package and another restaurant) and the convenience for rental! Even has its own convenience store, super impressive. Nothing
- CHENG HSIANG (9/5): - Room Na
- Yanlin (8/5): -
- Jane (8/5): -
- Louise (8/5): - Food, staff, closeness to ski slopes The rental skis were not very good at all
- Charlie (9/5): - Localisation parfaite, personnels très réactifs et sympas. Matériel de ski trop vétuste pour les confirmés.
- Trevino (10/5): Fantastic mountain getaway - From the warm greeting at check-in to the cozy atmosphere throughout, it’s the ultimate ski lodge. The breakfast and dinner services were a major highlight. The meals were absolutely delicious and offered a wonderful way to explore local cuisine. We particularly loved that they had local Shiga Kogen beer and local Snow Monkey sake available for purchase during dinner. It was a really nice touch that added to the authentic experience.
The facilities are top-notch. The public onsens are beautiful, spotless, and open 24 hours. This was a total lifesaver, especially since they allow you to use them even after checkout. Logistically, they’ve thought of everything. They provide seamless, highly organized bag storage for early arrivals or late departures. There is also a full rental shop onsite with access to everything from skis and boots to full outerwear and accessories. The ski lockers are equally well-maintained and easy to use.
We found the traditional Japanese futons incredibly comfortable and had a fantastic night's sleep.
Everything about our stay was amazing and we can’t wait to come back! Small improvement opportunity would be to have larger and more fluffy pillows available. We found those included were quite small and hard.

- torajiro (5/5): 今回の宿泊内容値段が高すぎる。 - 夕食、朝食、美味しかった。もう少し品数や種類があれば良かった。
- Claudia (9/5): Fantastic comfortable stay right next to the slopes - Location was ski in ski out, the onsen, badminton/ping pong court, and common TV lounge for bigger groups to gather after skiing. Each room was pre-allocated a table for dining and we could take our time in the dining hall so it felt very relaxing. The futon was abit thin so we had to stack up 2 futons. The mattress and the pillow were very hard too. But that seems to be Japanese style so it’s down to personal bedding preference.
- Emory (8/5): Dates but more than pleasant hotel ideally located for skiing and with a great breakfast and dinner buffet. - We really enjoyed this hotel. It’s ideally placed in the Shiga Kogen ski area. You can almost ski to the door in spring. It’s a 3m walk to the piste from which a large ski area is available on high season. Be warned if you come after March as the piste opening hours shift week by week. Some lifts only open once or twice a week and some areas are closed for the season. Hotel wise the Onsen was the best we experienced in 4 weeks of Japan. Hard to believe but this old skool
Onsen really was generous in space and classic in design. Our room was spacious - we opted for the Japanese style bedrooms with futons you have to prepare each day. You can get rooms with western style beds. We really enjoyed the buffet breakfast and dinner. A highlight. The food for what’s essentially an all inclusive was great. The right mixture between local foods and European tastes. The hotel is definitely dates with a 90s feel but it all works and runs and the staff are mostly helpful. The internal cafe is only open till 2pm. If you want to have a nice coffee or tea mid afternoon there isn’t really an option.
- Lai (9/5): It was strategically located for ski in and ski out, nice and quiet hotel. - It’s a cozy, clean and nice hotel with pleasant staff especially Ms Saori. She could speak a little bit of Mandarin and was very helpful throughout our stay. Things that need improvement are the pillows which we find it a little too soft and low and secondly, perhaps change breakfast menu a bit more frequent will be perfect for long staying guests. The onsen facility was fantastic and we enjoyed shopping at the little convenient store at the lobby.
- Lai (9/5): Superb -
- Mcelligott (7/5): Enjoyed the stay overall and would stay again good location near bus pick up and dropoff point to and from Nagano. - Location was great less than 100m to ski slope. Food in buffet was luke warm at best, but this is how Japan does there buffet not a hotel issue have experienced this at a lot of Japanese hotels over the years just hard to get used too.
Western Beds were hard but we put futon on top to soften it up.
- Luka (10/5): We enjoyed the stay to the MAX - Best ski in and ski out, Full service, very friendly, great dinner buffet
- Choo (7/5): Good -
- Mark (10/5): Comfortable and convenient - Clean and tidy, great location and awesome staff. Fantastic buffet selection and comfy beds. We will be back! Nothing
- Natalie (8/5): Handy location hotel - Hotel Ichinose was in the middle of the village near the ski slope and bus stop which was great to go to the snow monkeys etc. The staff were always very helpful. The tatami room was a very good size. You could rent ski gear there. The hotel was quite old but well kept. The buffet food was a good selection but the food went cold quickly as the warming plates didn't work well enough. They really need a bain marie style serving system to keep the hot food hot as after a day in the snow you really want a hot meal.
- Claudia (9/5): Great stay in Ichinose - Perfect location for skiing and getting the bus. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean hotel and rooms. Lovely Onsen. Food was yummy and had a lot of options. The skis we hired didn’t seem very fancy or new - but they performed excellently and were a great price.
- Sacha (8/5): Very good -
- Berenice (8/5): Very good - The rooms was nice and big and had great views of the slopes. The bed was comfortable. They provided you with everything you would need and if you need anything else the staff were very accommodating. The ski rental was good quality for people who are just looking to have a good time and and too worried about looks. The ski jacket and pants were new and good quality. The room price included breakfast and dinner. They had a range of options to choose from. The pillows were quite small and hard. They were feather but still quite hard.
- Irving (9/5): Superb - Ichinose Hotel in Shiga Kogen offers a charming and cozy retreat for winter sports enthusiasts. Located in one of Japan's premier ski resorts, the hotel provides convenient access to ski slopes while maintaining a tranquil atmosphere. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring a welcoming stay.
- Timothy (9/5): Superb -
- Chatchai (8/5): Very good -
- Pui (4/5): Nil - Location is good for snowboarding and ski traveller Most of the thing are self service
- Nil (6/5): Ok but could be better - It was at the ski slope directly. It’s in a busy village with restaurants (not so many choice, but better than nothing) Rooms are a little bit small.
No car park so they force you to park at the public car park 1.1km away. When you go every morning to get your car you start with a hike.
Kids room is not what you would expect.
- Javier (10/5): Great ski weekend - Cozy hotel, right by the Ichinose Family ski area. The staff is absolutely amazing, 100% focus on making your stay pleasant. We went there for a ski trip and it was really convenient. The public bath is great for after skiing, and both dinner and breakfast buffets were excellent, with many good quality choices. The hotel, as all of other establishments in the area, is a bit old, but they keep it in a good shape, and managed to keep a nice atmosphere for a pleasant stay.
- Victoria (9/5): Would happily choose this hotel again! - Comfortable, convenient and enjoyable Enjoyed all of it
- Nicholas (8/5): Very good -
- Arthur (7/5): Good -
- Brice (6/5): Pleasant -
- Hengky (7/5): Good -
- Mullor (9/5): Great service, food and location. - The location was great and the food was excellent!
we did 3 nights and dinner buffet changed some stuff every night. All was very tasty!
Staff was very friendly. the parking is a bit far away, not super inconvenience because they take you there by car whenever you want but still if you just want to go randomly to check your car is a bit of inconvenience.
- Panyadilok (8/5): nice hotel. worth of money. friendly and helpful staff. - This hotel close to Ichinose family ski slope They don't have mineral onsen bath. only have ofuro hot water bath.
- Fangxu (10/5): Exceptional - Affordable buffet every morning and evening. Ski-in-ski-out. Public bath. Tatami room. Slight foul smell coming from the water discharge in the bathroom.
- Lynn (7/5): Good -
- David (10/5): loved staying here, the Onsen was also great. - felt homey had good quality feel to it, location was great and the food and staff hospitality was great
- Daniel (8/5): it was super comfortable and relaxing. - The decor is homely, the place is very clean and the staff very friendly. It’s also only about 5 mins walk to the nearest ski lift. There are no fancy dining options although what is offered is in our view adequate for simple healthy meals.
- Yiu (6/5): convenient but not recommend to couple or for resort seeking holiday - close to the ski course no resort facility n western toilet. bad meal plan
- Reyes (7/5): Good -
- Valerie (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place & the best food buffet ever!!!
- Evelyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Li (8/5): Very good -
- Worarit (10/5): Explore Amazing - Staff, meal and facility is amazing. The piano on the second floor is stunning. The location which is super close to the ski site. Overall, the experience is unique and complete. Wakeup call service should be offered. However, not a big deal.
- Wang (9/5): Excellent location with nice onsen - 1. right next to the ski field
2. clean and decent size onsen
3. room was big and self sufficient
4. near to bus stop
5. mini shop within the hotel
6. good breakfast pillow was too soft
buffet dinner was a disappointment
- Jeffrey (7/5): Good -
- Valerie (7/5): Good - Proximity to ski slope . Wide spread for breakfast and dinner -
- Hong (10/5): Enjoyable stay for my family with kids - The staff, the location, the food and everything is good. Very enjoyable for my family and young kids.
- Lambert (8/5): Very good -
