Guest Reviews
- Linette (10/5): This hotel made our trip to Japan memorable! -
- MASAKO (10/5): -
- MASAKO (10/5): -
- Mark (10/5): - We stayed only one night.
We paid extra for a full kaiseki style meal in the evening. It was expensive but well worth the price as a treat.
The breakfast the following morning was included and also delicious.
We went knowing there was limited english, but we did not struggle to communicate.
- Jane (10/5): Amazing stay and highly recommended. Would come back for a longer stay next time. - Room was spacious, staff were kind and patient. They made special arrangements to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Nothing. It was great.
- Brandon (10/5): Great ryokan! - The private baths were great with the open air. We also enjoyed the free tickets to the public onsen next door very much. The views and fresh mountain air were exceptionally nice! The room was also huge, much larger than any room I've had in Japan. I wish the indoor shared bath in the hotel had open windows as the air was a bit stagnant. It would also be nice if the private baths had lower privacy screens so more of the view and fresh air could be enjoyed.
- Cosette (10/5): A perfect hidden getaway - I was surprised to find we could reserve the private baths once a night for free. They were incredibly accommodating, everything was beautiful. We had plans to go into Nagoya but instead spent the day exploring the area, there is a little nature hike behind the onsen, and then soaking in the baths. The food was phenomenal, exactly what I was looking for in a ryokan experience.

- TAEKA (9/5): -
- Ronny (10/5): - The room was big and comfortable
The private onsen was great and with a beautiful sky with stars
Plus entrance to the other onsen 3 minutes walk was a great plus.
Staff was really friendly
And the Yukata were just beautiful We didn't get the promotion from the website because we don't speak Japanese.
Dinner was too expensive for us luckily there is an other restaurant neer by.
- Justin Shen Ming (8/5): Great stay if you prefer somewhere isolated and quiet - Ones facilities were great, though I would have preferred if they allowed staying guests to book the private onsens more than once without paying additional fees. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Meals were great Having to pay extra when booking the private more than once per day
- ネモト (9/5): -
- Martin (9/5): Delightful Kaiseki Ryori crowned a great three nights - The Kaiseki Ryori was exceptionally tasty and the staff very friendly as well as most helpful. The onsen facilities such as „Gemini“ but also „Sirius“ with two separate tubs were first class and the room was spotlessly clean. The opportunity for a short 1K morning hike prior to breakfast starting from the hotel up to the Suzugataki Fudomyoo Shrine past the little waterfall up to the Suzugatakiko Pond was most appreciated.
- Nastor (10/5): -
- Emily (9/5): - Very nice onsen hotel with very good kaiseki dinner. Colourful yukata were available at the lobby for the guests to choose. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The private onsen which you can reserve for private use was very relaxing.
- Jiwei (10/5): -
- David (9/5): Incredible night stay and very relaxing. Excellent hot spring services - The staff were incredibly helpful and kind A little heard to get to and from, more shuttles on their shuttle bus would be nice
- Nanoshine Group Corp. (10/5): -
- David (10/5): Highly Recommend! - The dinner was as good as any Michelin-starred restaurant. The accommodations were first-rate. The hot tubs were relaxing. Sanage Onsen Resort made me feel like a millionaire. I wish I could have purchased one of the robes provided to the guests. Also, the staff's English skills aren't great. This wasn't an issue for me because my son speaks Japanese. However, it is an issue for anyone I might recommend Sanage Onsen Resort to.
- Duangporn (10/5): This hotel is very nice. - Everything is so good. The staff is very helpful. Onsen is very good. Food is yummy. No
- Daniela (7/5): Good -
- Hiram (9/5): Superb -
- Lyea (10/5): Exceptional - The food was amazing. You must have dinner and breakfast as a part of your reservation. The onsens were really wonderful! There were private and public ones on-site and another large public onsen across the street. The mountain location is about 25 min drive away from the train station, but they run a shuttle service from the Fujigaoka Train Station at 4:50pm every day. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. Ghibli Park was a 15 minute shuttle ride.
- Wilson (9/5): Superb -
- Grandy (10/5): We had an amazing 2 nights here and especially enjoyed the kaiseki style dinner. The shuttle made it extremely easy to g - Spacious, clean and relaxing.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Taferina (9/5): wonderful onsen treat - This place is simply amazing. Onsen was good, free flow of drinking spring water, scrumptious meals, heated rooms and friendly staff. nothing.....
- Yan (10/5): If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful onsen resort, then Sanage Onsen Hotel would be excellent - Breakfast was readily served at the time we had requested. There was good quality and variety of food served for breakfast.
The hotel rooms and facilities were very clean and very well maintained. The rooms were very spacious and we had an extremely comfortable and relaxing stay at Sanage.
We also enjoyed both the public and private onsens available at the hotel.
I love the peaceful environment in and around the hotel grounds. There were some scenic spots for photo taking within the nearby grounds.
There was a restaurant near the hotel that served a wide variety of food, and we enjoyed all of the several meals we had at this restaurant. Communication with the staff was challenging as many did not speak English. However, we were earlier informed of this and fortunately we had a member in our group who could communicate in Japanese. Translation apps do help a great deal, too.
Access to the hotel and visiting nearby attractions will be more convenient if you have a car as the hotel is situated in quite a remote place. The hotel provides a shuttle service but we did not use it as we had a car.
- Kuan (9/5): Superb -
- Premchit (10/5): Good hotel with mineral water onsen to give you the quality time of relaxation. - It’s worth to stay. Conditions of hotel and facilities were renovated and comfy. Room is spacious and clean. Staffs are friendly even those who can’t speak English but gg translator could help. They provided us good service exceeding our expectations. Recommended, and I’ll be surely back. No
- Ereck (9/5): I really enjoyed my stay and being given traditional Japanese Costumes with family was perfect - The hotel potrays the culture of Japan. I enjoyed the dinner and bath tubs so much
- Christopher (8/5): Very good -
- Marie (10/5): Exceptional -
