Guest Reviews
- Erwin (10/5): Wir verbrachten drei sehr entspannte Tage - Sehr schönes, stilvolles, optisch ansprechendes Hotel. Wundervolle Integration des Gartens in die Architektur. Extrem nettes und hilfsbereites Personal. Sehr stimmungsvolles Aussenbad. Hervorragendes Essen
- Christoph (10/5): Herrliches Erlebnis im traditionellen Ryokan - Tolles Ryokan in sehr schöner, ruhiger Lage. Super-freundliches Personal.
- Tong (10/5): - Room was large and comfortable. Food was great. Good quality and presentation. But the standout for me was the service and greeting by the staff. It was superb and over the top. Highly recommended to anyone traveling in the area Nothing

- Phillip (10/5): I have too many compliments. The staff were incredibly hospitable; service was beyond expectations, and the property and - It was a dream come true Absolutely perfect

また必ず泊まりに行きたいと思います! 전혀 없습니다.
- Camille (10/5): loved the beautiful property and the sweet workers that helped make our stay special - Privacy of location, different things to do on the property, size of room, personal hot spring, keiseki dinner not much to do around the property besides what is there
- Ky (10/5): Food was delicious, staff were amazing, and the private onsen made this a very special stay. - The staff was so attentive and kind. All the meals were exceptional and so big and delicious. So much fresh local wasabi with every meal, I’m missing it already. The rooms were big and so comfortable, and the highlight was the private onsen. Such a delightful setting to relax. Would 100% come back, and would 100% recommend Shirakabe. Nothing.

- Hong Geok (9/5): The room is cosy and comfortable with river view. - Dinner & breakfast were delicious! The onsen was great especially the outdoor onsen which is unique & relaxing! Nothing
💖 Nic
- Lindsey (10/5): Great stay - Peaceful Nothing
- Amanda (10/5): Our stay was too short, but those few hours there were magical! - The staff were more than accommodating and went above and beyond to help you have a wonderful stay. Our room was adorable and so authentic, the onsen was gorgeous, and the meals were unique and very filling. The highlight of our stay was being given candle lit lanterns to walk down to a river for firefly watching! Nothing really comes to mind, other than you need to have an open mind with the breakfast food. It's certainly not what most Westerners eat, but it was still delicious!
- Sawitree (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aura (9/5): Superb -
- Christina (10/5): We loved our stay and the staff were wonderful. - The property was beautiful and rustic. Toilets in the room were a little old but very clean
- Raya (7/5): Good -
- Ella (10/5): so luxurious! - we LOVED our private onsen in our room and we loved the decadent kaiseki meals—so filling! it’s a bit far out of the way to get there, but so beautiful when you do!
- Philipp (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marc (9/5): A hidden tucked away location with excellent service and food - Really hearty breakfast and staff service was soo soo good
- Vinicius (10/5): Exceptional -
- Grace (8/5): Very good -
- R.o.d (9/5): nice place to relax with valuable cost - traditional archecture and traditional service manner not too much view to outside. It is because the location is inside the valley
- Annie (8/5): Very good - Breakfast is amazing, the staffs are very nice
- Marina (10/5): Exceptional - onsen, rooms, private onsen, staff
- Kaleb (9/5): A wonderful way to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of nature and Japanese tradition. - The meals were lovely. The staff serving the meals, even better. It was such a wonderful experience and perfect for relaxing at the end of our trip. The onsen were immaculate, especially with the weather turning colder. Our room overlooked the river and you could hear it running at night, which was fantastic. The futons were the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. The yukata were cozy and really nice to laze about in during the morning. We had everything we needed to make tea in our room as well. All in all, fantastic stay. I will most definitely be back. Honestly, there was nothing that could be better. This ryokan is utterly fantastic.
- Eugene (10/5): Exceptional - Great baths, nice lounge area with drinks, we had nice rooms with private baths, excellent service from the staff. I wish the water in the baths was a little hotter.
- Sasaki (10/5): The facilities is good, the staff so kindly the bath so gorgeous - The food is delicious Nothing
- Ong (9/5): Great experience for anyone that wants to try a Ryokan. Shout out to Hao-San for being such a great staff to us! - Service was amazing! Good food and good place to relax Nothing!
- Sven (10/5): Perfect experience. Not hard to get to from Tokyo, great food, great service, fantastic baths - Location, spa, food, service, room
- Teri (10/5): A wonderful ryokan with great hospitality - Exceptional Onsen facilities, fabulous food and perfect service. Nothing
- Nikita (10/5): Unforgettable onsen experience - The hotel is located in a beautiful region with lots of green and mountain views. Visiting hot springs gave an unforgettable feeling of rested body. It's not some usual bath, Shirakabeso has two beautiful onsens on fresh air: in a stone and in a wood. It's huge and can fit several people. What I like is that the hotel is not crowded, so I was alone on a fresh air! These memories are unforgettable!
Also the hotel has a private baths in the room. Perfect solution for couples that want to share this experience with each other.
Additional thanks to the hotel stuff! They are extremely patient, tactful, lolire and professional. Without them the experience would not be so purely japanese! -
- Tomoko (8/5): Very good - The meals were fantastic. We enjoyed every bite. It was not convenient to take off shoes and change to other shoes between our room and bathroom/dining room. There are many staircases and it was like a maze inside.
- Sin (10/5): Thank you Shirakabeso for looking after us very well - Breakfast & dinner was outstanding, in terms of amount and quality of food. Fresh wasabi every meal. My husband can't take a few things and another ryokan we booked before we booked Shirakabeso told us they could not cater to us and we should cancel but Shirakabeso agreed (after some initial hesitation it sounds like from their communications) and did a fabulous job customising my husband's menu. The staff were very accommodating and polite and the different baths were great and comfortable. We spent a very relaxing weekend, exactly what we wanted A bit hard to get to without a rental car. From Tokyo, we took a shinkansen to Mishima, then a local train from Mishima to the end, then we took a taxi from the train station. Also, apart from a short walk to see a nearby bridge, there is nothing to do around the ryokan, i.e. you're always in the property
- Asaad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ruslan (10/5): Exceptional - Super great “ryokan” hotel located above mountain river. If you like to get real Japanese hospitality and experience - that’s the place.
Super tasty Japanese food served as “kaiseki” - basically chefs table, breakfast and dinner. You really don’t need any lunch over there.
Hot springs right next to your door.
Unbelievably friendly and professional service.
Lots of walking routes through the forest. It’s not a hotel which was built yesterday. But it’s very very well maintained and surrounding beauty and tranquility beats these little not so perfect pieces.
- Vyl (9/5): Superb - Staff was very friendly, onsens were clean, food was great
- Alice (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charlotte (9/5): A beautiful place, extremely nice and kind staff. Very delicious food. Nice room. All was good. - The breakfast was excellent. It was Japanese breakfast of course, with a wide variety of different vegetables, rice, fish, fruit, yoghurt etc.
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional - The room was clean and tidy. We had a private onsen that was your own private oasis. The staff and facilities were exceptional. They had a library room, a coffee room that has an alcoholic touch in the evenings. The place is truly underrated, the kaiseki dinner and breakfast was devine and very filling!
- Elizabeth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Natalie (10/5): Very enjoyable, relaxing and comfortable stay - highly recommend - Very much enjoyed our stay here. Staff were very polite and attentive. Opted for private dining - breakfast and dinner - highly recommend. We chose to stay in one of the open air bath rooms - very comfortable and clean and the open air bath was excellent! Bit far out from the nearest station, unfortunately it's not walking distance. Taxi/car/bus needed to get there - perhaps an option for a shuttle bus would be good?... but otherwise easy enough to get there by taxi.
- Nada (9/5): It was luxurious, gracious, and healing. - The location is in the middle of Izu: fresh water, mountain air, and singing birds. The surroundings were so lovely and so were the very sweet Vietnamese staff. We were fortunate to have our own private bath. The beds were extremely comfortable. The food was COPIOUS and utterly delicious. They should have real milk for coffee in the lounge and cappuccino from the machine. It would be nice if there was also brandy in the liquor they offer. I found the bath a little tepid, and the water was very nice, though I think I prefer the more healing sulfurous waters. At first I was disappointed that the room wasn't more traditional, but it was so comfortable that I got over it. I felt bad about being served a live abalone that I didn't even eat. That was a little sad.
- Ritsuko (10/5): We will be back - The workers were so nice Nothing
- Norris (10/5): Outstanding - Amazing food, clean beautiful environment and amazing friendly and helpful staff. What's not to like?
- Lynda (10/5): Perfect ambiance for Rest and Relaxation - Superb service! The staff welcomed us and were all so polite and helpful. The property was lovely and peaceful. Our room had a private Onsen on our back porch along with an outdoor shower. We were given a summer kimono and a winter robe that were so comfortable. We had a private family Onsen room appointment and visited the men and women Onsen’s at different times.
The chef was so kind to create a special menu for us and we enjoyed the most delicious and beautifully garnished vegetarian Japanese food we have ever had!
Perfect ambiance for rest and relaxation which is just what we needed.
We would highly recommend this to our family and friends. Loved it all!
- G.im. (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gerold (10/5): Overall, an amazing place to escape Tokyo for the weekend. - Excellent service with the team going above and beyond. The room was great with a comfortable bed and our outside room onsen was amazing. Food was excellent and a lot of it.
- Y (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lee (10/5): out of expectation - The staffs from the hotel is nice, they provide best service and the food is very delicious, we will come back again.
- Michaela (10/5): Very comfortable stay, beautiful onsen and very good food - Beautiful onsen, super welcoming staff
- Thai (9/5): Superb - Customer service was exceptional. They catered for my partners dietary needs last minute and were flawless throughout.
A masseuse can be ordered to the room for a reasonable price, and the massage is great!
- Alexander (9/5): Excellent experience - Relaxing atmosphere, awesome outdoor hot spring, comfortable and cozy rooms. We also like a lot the service we received during the delicious food we ate. Some insects in the room what might be difficult to reduce to zero in an outdoor location like that.
