Guest Reviews
- 19johnnye (10/5): Our favourite in Cervinia – perfect location and outstanding service - We have been visiting Cervinia for the past 10 years and have stayed at several of the better hotels in the area – but Hotel Baita Cretaz has clearly become our favourite.
The location is absolutely perfect, right on the piste next to the lift – true ski-in/ski-out, which makes the whole experience easy and relaxed. At the same time, it’s only about 200 metres to the town, and the hotel is always happy to pick you up or drop you off by snowmobile, which works perfectly.
What really makes this place stand out is the owners and staff. They are incredibly friendly, honest and flexible – whether it’s check-in, check-out or any other request. You genuinely feel well looked after as a guest.
The restaurant is also a big plus, offering good quality food and a varied menu.
All in all, a place we return to again and again – and one we can highly recommend.
- jonrC6283YW (10/5): Fantastic hotel / restaurant / location - We have just finished a week here. What a special place. Located just outside cervinia directly on the piste. A hotel / resteraunt / bar. The 7 I think it is rooms centered around a communal lounge area with well equipped boot room and ski storage. Exit leading onto piste. Rooms were clean. Thoughtfully designed. Really homely. Shower is excellent. The staff are really cool. It has a real family vibe. Nothing too much trouble. Really cool group of people running this place. Food is excellent. Mountain food. Just what you need after a day's skiing. A skidoo from the hotel to pick you up and drop you off to cervinia if you require. You can walk it if you fancy it. I loved the skidoo though. The drivers are really competent. If you are up for them putting their foot down so are they!!! Brilliant time. We are all sad to be leaving. We have been to 15-20 different places skiing. This is one of our favourites. Top 3. We will be back.
- AMCE667 (10/5): Wonderful stay at Baita Cretaz. - Ski in ski out, fabulous food…really top notch mountain food. Wonderful staff…Angelo and Marian were so friendly and helpful. The resort is amazing…we did well to get all the full Zermat-Cervinia runs complete (actually didn’t!) …but it was the hotel and staff that made the trip!
- Capuccini (10/5): - Vacanza meravigliosa!
Piccola struttura, ma curatissima!
Ho mangiato benissimo, ho dormito benissimo e al mio risveglio, aprendo le tende, mi godevo la vista su di un ghiacciaio!
Personale molto cordiale e disponobile, camera e bagno pulitissimi!

Stanze molto piccole.
Colazione minimal.
Ambienti interni da svecchiare e rinfrescare.

The room was clean, cozy, and well appointed, and the food in the restaurant was first class. And of course the staff was friendly and helpful. We recommend this hotel and area very highly! We can't wait to come back. Absolutely nothing.

- Chris (10/5): Seven days at the top of the valley…. Great Hotel - Fantastic breakfast & dinner in the restaurant. Small & quiet hotel (in summer). Great base to explore the trails/hikes around Cervinia. Should be a fantastic base in winter with ski in and ski out. Also amazing views from the bar/restaurant.
- Raymond (9/5): Fantastic special location! - Location and breakfast and clean rooms Check in could have been clearer, but this was minor
- Anna (9/5): A fabulous small hotel in the perfect location where the staff go above and beyond. -
- Jonathan (8/5): Very good - Location perfect
Bed and clean linen perfect
Location
Views No fresh bread
No shower caps and creams for lady in rooms
Sweets should be included in half board
- Jane (9/5): A glorious super friendly mountain stay - This is why Italy is our favourite place to ski!
It’s a unique little hotel perched on the mountain side with glorious views.
It’s run by a small extremely hard working, very friendly and professional team. They do everything to ensure you enjoy your stay.
We were half board and there was always plenty of hearty food on offer. More than enough even after a hard day skiing.
It is truly ski in ski out on a lovely long blue run (5)
It’s straight down to a big chairlift that will whip you up the mountain.
The skidoo rides up and down to town are fantastic! We were unlucky with our room and I didn’t read the details properly about the size. It was small!
- Tyrell (8/5): Very good -
- Juraj (10/5): Everything was great. Absolutely everything. The chalet/hotel is small but cozy. It’s right on the slope, and both b - All. Staff, location, room, kitchen, bar.
All was absolut top. Nothing
- James (10/5): We’d stay again! - Friendly staff. Warm atmosphere. Ski-in, ski-out location. Views from the terrace and the breakfast room.
- Willem (9/5): Superb - Excellent location, cosy feel. Rooms are small
- Allan (8/5): Very good -
- Kurt (10/5): Great stay - We loved the location of the hotel - friendly staff - great beds Maybe a bit more fruits for breakfast would be great :)

- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Erez (7/5): Good -
- Mattia (6/5): Pleasant -
- Nicole (9/5): Beautiful rustic stay on the mountain. - Ski in, ski out. Food was fantastic as well. Rooms are a bit small, but that was part of the charm. The lighting in the dining area was not ideal. Very bright and flickering.
- Chris (10/5): Sunny side of the mountains - True ski in ski out. Wonderful location. Skidoo into your accommodation. We were lucky to get a booking plus the weather was good to us on the sunny side of the mountains. I wanted to stay longer LOL
- Yannik (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (10/5): We loved Baita Cretaz and look forward to returning - The Hotel Baita Cretaz has a beautiful location— directly under the Matterhorn with scenic views in all directions!
The food was great.
The breakfast buffet had many options - something for everyone.
The dinner restaurant was perfect.
The menu was varied with regional specialties and fresh ingredients.
The food was prepared and served thoughtfully. The location was a bit difficult to find initially- but worth it!
- beccpalm98 (10/5): FANTASTIC Pasta - Fantastic food, great service and a great snow mobile ride to and from the restaurant. We highly recommend the homemade pasta dishes, and the burger was fabulous too! Great wine choices and we also loved the hot chocolate. Accommodating for large groups
- Sandip (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martti (8/5): Very good -
- edwardo180 (2/5): Shockingly bad - Shockingly bad service, had 2 wait 30 minutes to take our order, then the wine was bad, they took it away but refused to give us any other wine, the fish and chips was like sandpaper, to top it all off they accused us of trying to do a runner when I was in the bathroom, overall I would give it a miss,
- Daniela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Phillipa (9/5): Superb -
- Svea (10/5): Lovely week - The location on the slope was lovely. The hotel very cozy. Personnel friendly and smiley and helpful.
Breakfast was good and rich. Restaurant with delicious dishes.
Our stay was happy and perfect.
- Htzyh (10/5): Exceptional - Super friendly and helpful staff, very convenient location -
- Sergiusz (10/5): The best imaginable location for skiing - The nicest staff, so helpful and great
Most awesome location right on the ski slope
Snowmobile transportation to and from the village included
Great breakfast with eggs ala carte and delicious coffee wit a fantastic view Nothing
- Lisa (7/5): Great location - The location was lovely and the staff were all helpful.
The menu was well priced The rooms were very small and the walls paper thin.
Unfortunately the bar was not very welcoming and often closing at about 9:30 when we got there after dinner- the staff always obliged and served us but we felt as if we were being a bit difficult.
- Hubsch (10/5): Great place, feels more like a chalet than a hotel. - Location on the slopes and level of service.
- Malcolm (9/5): Brilliant location, lovely building and great and helpful staff - Location amazing N/a
- Howard (9/5): All four of us enjoyed our one night stay in Breuil-Cervinia at the Baita Cretaz hotel - The evening meal and the breakfast were very good The approach road required minor repairs
- Rudi (10/5): Super location, super ...very good for value mony - Prfect.
- Faisal (9/5): Superb -
- Martin (9/5): Superb - The position over looking the matterhorn is spectacular combined with the excellent staff and gorgeous food makes this accommodation exceptional.. The draft larger was off during our stay.
- Navigator29522579447 (10/5): Super friendly hosts in a great position - Over night stop with friends
Initially we couldn’t get to it by car we called the the hotel and we were rescued and escorted to the hotel in minutes!
Great rooms , great hosts nothing was too much trouble we had half board which was well worth it !
We had a one day pass which was €55 we went to the top had coffee and walked back down from the first lift ( Great walk down )
- John (7/5): Lovely lovely ski spot, just details need work - Staff and owner were brilliant, super-friendly, only 7 rooms and not full so felt very intimate. Restaurant food excellent (though limited variety for non meat-eaters) and bar great. Ski in/out location on slope 5 (blue) just super, great views at breakfast - really lovely spot. Arrangements for skidoo pick up (initial location, timings, bit more help would've been appreciated), modern design/trad. ski chalet style could be carried through a bit more, our bathroom tired and needing refurb, towels not great - no sushi bar!
- John (10/5): Lovely place to stay in a spectacular location. - Food excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. It couldn’t be faulted.
- Marc (10/5): Exceptional -
- AndraBandra (10/5): Beautiful, traditional cabin, great service and menu. Perfect location - Baita Cretaz is a beleutiful little traditional cabin, adapted for tourism, in a verrry tasteful way. The rooms have wooden ceilings, old, but perfectly functional furniture, traditional rugs. The living room has a fireplace, and you can spend minutes looking around. Everything is charming and makes you enjoy the vacation 100%.
The beds are goood, comfortable! Super clean! ( cleaned daily)
Breakfast is very good, you can choose from what’s there, or ask for an omelet.
It is located on slope #5 (blue), you can ski out in the morning (200 m to the lyft) and ski in at the end of the day. If you come from Plateau Rosa, make sure you follow initially the sign to Zermatt, that slope leads into 6 red and takes you to the right side of the mountain. If you take 7 from there ( pista Ventina), you end up in the wrong place at the end of the day end you have to walk through the village to get to the cabin.
The personnel is fantastic, the ambiance great.. Try all the menu, don’t forget to try the deer!
- Andra (10/5): Baita Cretaz was like being home, away from home. But with a ski resort near by, and impossible goo - Baita Cretaz is 10/10. People work so much, it’s scary! They literally work non stop.
The house is adorable, a traditional cabin adapted very well to turism. The rooms have wooden ceilings, old/// but very functional furniture, traditional rugs. All this traditional beauty it’s making your stay so pleasant. Your FEEL the vacation to the fullest here. The breakfast was great, the lunch served for apres ski delicious ( try the lasagna), the dinner .. mmm! Try all the menu! But start with Cerbo. Another thing about this spot is that you need a ride on the ski mobile when you come back at home. It’s a little scary, if you’re not used to it. But the plus is that someone is ALWAYS available to pick you up ( outside slope hours, 8- 4) Hard to believe, but I really liked everything. Thank you guys for helping me with lots of things, from finding a taxi, to keeping my wine for days and serve it to me inside, outside..
- Yuval (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sergejs (6/5): Good hotel with nice location, but too cold due to cost-saving measures - + Friendly and helpful staff.
+ Nice breakfast, especially we liked croissants as they vere super fresh and buttery.
+ Good location of the hotel (ski-in, ski-out).
+ Ski-doo service (for getting down to the city and up to the hotel) was super helpful and fun!
+ Nice restaurant to have both lunch and dinner when you don't want to go to the town. - Cold! Room 2, where we lived, is located near the backdoor of the hotel, where hotel guests leave for the skiing day and return. So the door is frequently open, which lets the cold in. Also there were cost-saving measures at the hotel, when the heating was off (both radiator and towel dryer) during the night (~ from midnight till 7:00 in the morning) and during the day (from late morning till 15:00). This all resulted in extremely low temperature in the room, which made our stay very uncomfortable.
- Wi-Fi was very bad, both signal-wise and speed-wise.
- There was only one trash bin in the room (which was super-small) and one a bit bigger in the bathroom. It was challenging to throw away somethin bigger (e.g. water bottles).
- philb260 (10/5): Fab trip for old blokes - We were a group of 6 blokes who had visited the terrace bar last year and thought "Why not?"
We had a fantastic week in the friendliest hotel you could find.
There are only 7 bedrooms so you feel part of the family as soon as you arrive.
The beds are very comfy and everything is spotless.
Albert the" Scooby doo" driver picks you up and takes you down the 150 m at any time requested. You can walk down easily but not back up!
Alliona is a whirlwind of joy that greets you with a cheery conversation every time you meet her.
Davide looks after the bar and we kept him busy!
Renato fronts the restaurant and is very good at his job.
We were half board so you can choose 2 courses from the menu and anything else you pay a small surcharge.
It is very meat orientated but there are pasta options. The restaurant is open to the public and does a roaring trade.
It was very cold when we were there so only sat on the terrace once but normally this is a fantastic spot to relax on.
Location is obviously great. You can nearly ski into the boot room!
Overall our general feeling is "Lets fill the place next year"
Fantastic.
- Roxi (10/5): 5 star ski holiday in this 3 star hotel! We’ll be back! - Everything. I can’t think of a better place to stay during a ski holiday in Cervinia! Rooms are charming and cozy, food is great, staff is very friendly and helpful, location directly on the slope (reachable by snow mobile, which is an attraction in itself), terrace in the sun. Our overall price was also convenient. A very enjoyable week - wish we could come back soon! N/A
- Ca3nT (10/5): Unbeatable Ski in Ski out ! - Great three night stay at this hotel - friendly staff and nice room. The best feature is the location, immediately on the slope - cannot beat it !!! Staff very happy to take us up and down on the skidoo. Nice room with an increadible view. Had the half board option which was great - all produce from the Aosta valley. Many thanks !
- Simona (10/5): Exceptional - location, staff, atmosphere
- bredonhilltreehouses (10/5): So much fun! Lovely evening - Such a great experience! Picked up by skidoo, friendly and helpful staff, delicious local food, tried dishes that we had not before and a skidoo back to our hotel. Delicious local wines. Perfect evening 😊
- Tamhodson (10/5): Lovely location, great food and good price. - A couple we met recommended this place and we can see why. Hot chocolate was best we have had this week, so came back for lunch. Legume soup and lasagne were both delicious and good portions, very well priced. So impressed we booked for dinner tomorrow night, they even give you a lift up the mountain on a skidoo, cannot wait.
- Traveler50695394692 (10/5): Great dinner and love sushi on the slopes! - We had dinner here one night, and it was great. We loved being picked up on a skido which they kindly changed the location of go be closed to our hotel. Food was meaty but with lovely veg accompaniments. The tiramisu for pudding was one of the best ever! Service was friendly and fun.
After a great meal one night we got takeaway sushi from them the next which was beautiful and such a novelty in a ski resort. I wish more places did this. Only down side was they wanted cash for the sushi.
- luneriel (8/5): Very good restaurant - Very nice place and spot to see the village down! The walk up there is nice and easy so I would recommend going there by feet and not by car - a car got stuck on the path because it was an urban /sportive one definitively not fit for this. We went to the restaurant only and it was really good and enjoyed great pastas in a friendly and nice atmosphere :) good for family and simple food!
- KatieEdgeley (10/5): Restraunt - Amazing restaurant amazing food, got a snowmobile ride up their to eat in the evening! Everyone very friendly only criticism is that the tiramisu was more like zabaglione! Some people in our group recommend the specials, also great lunch spot before afternoon ski lessons!
- L8746AKkenw (10/5): Mille grazie Hotel Baita Cretaz - Booked my annual birthday ski vacation for the Aosta Valley of northern Italy in the hamlet of Breuil-Cervinia. Chose this location for its proximity on the foot of the Matterhorn. Also, its a great ski destination in Europe being the highest and quite extensive. Coupled with the experience of skiing over into Switzerland, and its truly fantastic. I would, however, suggest that if youre going to spend any quality time in Zermatt just over the mountain, that you do that as a separate trip. Its very time consuming and TIRING attempting to ski from BC to Z and back all in one day, or so I found.
Now on to Hotel Baita Cretaz. First of all, it is about 200-250 feet above the town up on the slopes and is reached by a skidoo provided by the hotel. The blue number 5 run (Plan Maison-Cervinia) is literally right at the doorstep. This makes getting started in the morning super easy and very convienient in the afternoon coming home.
Let me address the skidoo service. First off, this is not for everyone. I, however, found it quite unique and part of my reason to choose this hotel. Most of the establishments up the mountains utilize a skidoo service. After doing it a couple of times, I began to feel somewhat guilty asking to use it. Not because of any ill feeling from the staff, but I hated for someone to drop what they were doing and shuttle me down and back up the mountain on my whim. It is one of their advertised services, free, and they provide it without question and are very glad to do so. Definitely a testament to the staff and their commitment to the guests.
The staff...could one ask for better? I don't think so. Friendly, courteous, helpful. Salvatore, Alessandra, Gina, and little Matilde along with everyone there are wonderful. Mille grazie to each of you.
The hotel is small...I think about 8 rooms. I was in the single room number 4. Definitely small by American standards, but perfect for me. Comfortable bed, wireless connection, private bath, plenty of hot water, loads of charm...ticked off all my needs. One thing I appreciated was the use of REAL towels not like flimsy pieces of terry cloth I've had in other Italian hotels. And along with the room rate is an included breakfast. Typical assortment of breads, fruits, cold cuts, cheeses, juices, dairy products, and eggs cooked to order is you so desire. I never left hungry.
The ski gear storage is on the lower level with an access directily outside onto the slope. Storage for your skis along the wall and a warming boot rack is really great for your gear and hitting the slopes quickly. For the sake of the owners and the wooden floors in the hotel, please don't walk around in your ski boots unless you are on tile floors.
The restaurant operated by the hotel is rated pretty highly. The menu is not huge, thankfully, and the staff concentrates on making the food really great. I am not a fan of eating meat, and I still had plenty to choose from. I never left the table hungry and was usually a bit on the stuffed side. And for you wine officianados, there appeared to be a great selection. You also have the option of ordering from the bar for sandwiches, sushi, hot dogs, burgers, fries, etc until 5PM. There is plenty of inside and outside seating, and the deck is a great place to enjoy a lunch or espresso...oh, and what a view it provides!
So glad I did my research and came across Hotel Baita Cretaz. Great place. Great value. Great people. Hope to be back in a couple of years. Mille grazie.
- ZARichmond (8/5): Unique Stay For Spring Skiing - Pros: Unique and cosy hotel, perfect to ski out down a small slope to catch the ski lift, excellent dinner (we had half board) and decent wine list with options for all budgets, nice deck to sit on overlooking Cervinia after skiing, kind and efficient waitresses
Cons: We wanted to try a half board ski in ski out stay but we realised it's a bit too restrictive for us as we missed being able to walk around the town and you feel a bit guilty asking for the Skidoo. Apparently you can walk but it didn't seem easy so we didn't try it. Maybe it's easy in summer. We both thought the owner was a bit abrupt in some of his dealings with us which made us feel awkward although by the end of our stay everything was fine. The bathroom needs a renovation as there is space to fit a bigger shower in there, the existing shower is very small. There also are no coffee/ tea families or glasses to drink from in the room.
- Mazli2016 (10/5): Fantastic accomodation and restaurant - We had an amazing and enjoyable ski-holiday last December in Cervinia, where we stayed with our small dog in the fantastic Hotel Baita Cretaz. We ate delicious food in their restaurant. All service was perfect, the owners and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We hope to return there soon.
