Guest Reviews
- Peter (8/5): Just what I expected. - It is pub accommodation. One of the better shared bathroom pubs. Good bed, nice towels and soap. Quiet area.
- Aleksandra Olechnowicz (6/5): -
- Nigel (6/5): Value for money staff were very helpful - Value for money in Newcasle
- Taylah (5/5): Decent - Location, bed was comfy and staff were friendly. Wasn’t very clean, had dry noodles on the floor from previous guests and hadn’t been dusted/wiped down for a what it seems like a long time.
- Rodney (9/5): -
- Greg (7/5): - Comfortable bed and very clean
- Mia (10/5): -
- Patrica (9/5): Great and would stay again. - It wasn't too hard to find and in a great location. Easy walk to shops and banks.
Jessie checked us in and took us to our room. He was very friendly and helpful.
We met up with family and had dinner at the hotel. Food was good and staff polite and friendly. The only thing I found that the bed was a bit hard for me.

- Ben (9/5): - Great value for money great staff
- Graeme (6/5): - The convenience and the location The door slamming and the noisy air-conditioning
- Anthony (1/5): great and will stay there again - good lication fir me clean rooms and facilities great food friendly staff no off street parking
- G (10/5): -
- John (8/5): - Great value for money, staff are great and the actual pub is beautiful. No TV. But you get what you pay for still great value for money

- Jennifer (8/5): For attending a course at John Hunter Hospital and not spending a fortune, it was good. - The hotel was clean and the bathroom was clean. It was a shared bathroom, and while the amenities were possibly a little dated, they worked, were clean, not busy. It was a great location in terms of being able to access John Hunter Hospital. The food at the hotel was fairly priced and solid pub food - nice - nothing fancy.Worked for me - I was hungry! It would have been good to have off street parking, as the bulk of the area is timed parking, making things a bit tricky when carrying stuff inside. For me personally, only staying one night, it wasn;t really a major issue, but it could become a problem if you were there for longer.
- Nienke (7/5): - Friendly staff. Bright and clean. Water in the showers was mostly cold. No bar fridge or kettle in room.
- Wendy (8/5): -
- Rachel (6/5): -
- Stephanie (7/5): Cute pub stay - Great location, nice pub, cute rooms, comfy bed, quiet. Clean enough. Air conditioning!! Very old bathrooms and security isn’t great. Open access from the pub and all unoccupied rooms are left open (to air them, I believe) but this also means someone could easily hide in there. Call me paranoid but that’s life for a solo female traveller.
- Jacqui (7/5): - Location Shared toilets in a very bad state, 1970s unrenovated, cracked tiles, dirty
- Chris (6/5): -
- Jenny (8/5): - Close to John Hunter and great quiet location. No parking at site but plenty in next block, 1-2 min walk. Staff very friendly and food great. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Basic but it's a pub room and you're paying pub prices. Great value for money
- Neil C (9/5): Excellent staff and a very affordable option - The staff were very helpful and friendly and were a wealth of local knowledge that made my stay so much better. The price was excellent considering I just needed somewhere to sleep and to freshen up. Given the building's age and heritage it was a little rough around the edges but given the price of the room this was not an issue at all.
- Judye (8/5): 3night stay - Only one shower worked properly. Room was very noisy.
- Ian Laing (7/5): -
- Taís (5/5): Good location - The location is excellent The shower was cold and I didn't work properly
- Greg (8/5): - Good value for money.
- Thompson (8/5): -
- Mark (8/5): - No tv in the rooms, or kettle, but for the price was understandable.
- Jeffrey. Quinlan (10/5): - Staff were very polite and helpful
- Catherine (8/5): Stayed there once before. Will go again. Good value for money and quiet - Rooms had a lovely feeling and nice decor Bathrooms need to be renovated. Feels old and dirty ( even if not dirty). Poor parking options
- Emily (9/5): Perfect for one night stay. -
- Carr (10/5): -
- David Barclay Taylor (7/5): -
- Paul (10/5): - It was nice
- Tania (8/5): Ok - Staff were friendly and it was cheap The bed was very uncomfortable and bathroom old and basic. It wouldn’t take much to make the room a little more comfortable.
- Graeme (8/5): - No facilities in room to make a cuppa, but that what you get with a pub stay.
A bed and bedside tables, complimentary bottled water and bathroom linen. That’s it.

- Anthony (6/5): - The people
- Cindy (3/5): Great location, although..... - Some of the staff were great, others not so much. Awesome having the free shuttle service to football game. Really dusty, unplugged bar fridge sitting out from the wall, on carpet.
Dusty table lamp not working.
Lots of hair on sheets
Air con vents disgusting. Covered in black thick mould.
Air extraction vents in shared bathroom also clogged with mouldy dust. Apart from that, the bathroom is quite clean and funky art deco era.
This could be an awesome place to stay!
Management really need to take a look upstairs at these issues. This is why the score is quite low.
I'm also an owner of a booking.com property, and the cleaning standards are clearly very low here.
- Sally (8/5): great to find an affordable room with bathroom in a central position. - the room was great as was the addition of water and some biscuits. very comfortable. good pricing.
- Ken (1/5): whould'nt stay again - location is alright but hard to find a parking spot near by no bar fridge web site said they have 1 staff said no, hard to find a park near by, live music every fri and sat night was very very loud until late, was cheap and as they say you get what u pay for.
- Stephen (7/5): Great value for money and friendly Staff. - Showers in the bathroom need some attention, otherwise great value for money.
- Geoffrey (8/5): Very good - Close to where I had to be. Good meals. Air conditioned room. Friendly staff. No tv in room but didn’t worry me.
- Jez (8/5): - Overall it was fine but there are no staff overnight and their fire alarm went off at 5am. There was no one to deactivate it so it went for a full 20 minutes before it switched off automatically.
- David (10/5): - The staff are very helpful and friendly. Good food!
Although the bathroom is outside the room the shower is really good.
Location is great too, near to an IGA that has everything you need.
Thanks for an enjoyable stay!
- Sophi (10/5): - Great stay here will be back. Cosy, clean room which met all my needs.
- Mohit (7/5): Was quite area, no issue for street parking. Would recommened to add fridge and water boiler - Quite location Room was dusty and wasn’t vacuum properly. would be better if there was mini fridge, water boiler for a tea/coffee
- Michael (6/5): - Share bathroom not clean
- Connor (10/5): - Unreal stay
- M (7/5): Had a nice time, well priced. - Nice staff, good location, clean room. Too loud - hard to sleep given the proximity of the kitchen to the rooms.
- Sharyn (8/5): Very good -
- Nikki (10/5): Exceptional -
- Terry (8/5): - Comfortable stay for quick overnight Travelling from vic to QLD.
- Amiri (1/5): Bad - We had 2 room booked they didn't give us next to each other even though we asked they said they have even the room next to our kids room to someone else they were very rude to my family we left a day earlier because they made us feel not safe their The Staff we not good not helpful at all
No understanding very rude maybe because we are muslim and we stayed in their hotel
- Alyssa (4/5): It was a lovely little room but could do with a mini fridge coming into summer months some rooms have them and some don’ - I liked that it’s close to shops and clean room could do with a small mini fridge and possibly a microwave I didn’t like that there was blood all over both the female showers and wasn’t cleansed properly
- Pania (10/5): Wonderful I recommend to stay there if you have a doctor's appointment or just for a holiday - Location with excellent I really enjoyed the asthma sphere and being close to the supermarket and the coffee shops Nothing I found everything absolutely wonderful and very happy with the service that they gave me in the cleanness of the room and the lighting everything was beyond my expectations for the price
- Daniel (7/5): Good -
- Suzuko (7/5): Good -
- Jeffrey (5/5): I was looking for accommodation close to Newcastle private hospital.Shared bathroom was fine - No breakfast was having surgery 11/10 Room needed table to place the fridge on,plus facilities to make tea or coffee.
- Sharma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heather (4/5): - People booking need to know this really is an old-fashioned pub, with nothing in the room but a bed. Saturday night the loud music was also problematic until 11.30 p.m.
- Margaret (1/5): Will stay there again , close to rail station , & always Taxis &Uber services - Friendly staff, meals were great, &a great location The accommodation just needs a TV in the rooms, & the shared bathrooms need updating.
