• Bk_M (9/5): - Amazing staff, always with a smile and eager to help make you feel welcomed, without any of the fake smiles. Room was nice, could listen to the waves while sleeping. Nice view to the sea in front , especially from the pool. Facilities are getting a bit old, probably need some maintenance. Beach ahead of the hotel is very dirty, plastics all over the place with noone caring about doing something to clean it. It is not advisable to enter the sea because of the rock formations and the high risk of getting yourself hurt while trying to do so. We were disappointed from the state of the beach and not being able to enjoy it.

• Jennifer (9/5): Enjoyed it and we'd stay again - We really enjoyed our one night stay. We did not have any issues with booking.com. The payment came out just before we arrived and we weren’t asked to pay again. We got a transfer to and from the airport arranged by the hotel for 350 000 IDR. There were plenty of private taxis at the airport for slightly cheaper and we’d take this option next time. Our transfer was delayed (not by much, so not a problem) but on time to take us back to the airport. The room is lovely, closer to the beach and stand alone. It has an outside shower and A/C in the bedroom. It doesn’t have a mini bar and there are about 40 or 50 steps to reception/ restaurant. The pool is just down from the restaurant. When we were there this was an advantage as there were people having a good time around the pool into the late evening. The restaurant has set hours but really you can order anytime in the afternoon. The food was really, really delicious. It'd be nice to have a mini fridge as it's a lot of steps back to the restaurant.

• Hala (10/5): Comfortable, clean and professional - Amazing stay at the beautiful island of Sumba. The property is just 25 mins away from Tambolaka airport. Has a beautiful infinity pool and access to the public beach. Their food is absolutely wonderful and The staff is super friendly and helpful. especially William who is an asset to this place. Definitely will be staying here again once im in Sumba next time.

• JEREMY (8/5): A very helpful and comfortable stepping stone in Sumba - Big pool. Beachfront. Very helpful staff. Good on site masseuse. Breakfast was very good. We had one standard and one deluxe. You get what you pay for and was what you would expect. We did have one very long wait (1.5 hours) for dinner one night which was unfortunate with the three boys. First room we had the aircon and shower didn’t work so I think staying on top of maintenance and repairs before they become problems.

• Francine (9/5): - Schönes Hotel mit nettem Personal. Großer Pool und direkt am Strand. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis war für Sumba sehr gut. Der Strand ist sehr schön zum Spazieren, aber wegen des Riffs nicht zum Schwimmen geeignet.

Het hotel heeft een prachtige ligging, met een fijn zwembad en op korte afstand van het strand. Ook het restaurant was erg goed: een heerlijk ontbijt en vriendelijk personeel dat altijd behulpzaam te was. Absoluut een aanrader!
• Piet (10/5): Eén van de beste verblijven van Sumba - Dit is een topper. Alles is goed het eten heerlijk en vooral het personeel toppers zijn het. Zwembad strand en in de rust. Huur een scooter en gaan.
• Pia (3/5): À fuir et vite ! - Tout ce que je n ai pas aimé du tout ici m’a fait détester mon séjour. Il n’y a pas de capitaine à bord de ce bateau ! Aucune maintenance, tout est vieillot laissé à l’abandon , les terrasse et jardins sont sales , l herbe n’est pas tondue , tout traîne , quelle désolation! Les transats sont cassés , défoncés et quand enfin ils vous procurent un matelas de plage personne ne le range le soir, il reste à la pluie.. Piscine pleine de feuilles et pas soignée ( dommage c’est le seul point fort de cet endroit) Abords glissants plein de mousses.. plage de sable sale, pas nettoyée, poubelles qui traînent. Quelle honte ! Nourriture bof bof .. Ne réservez surtout pas les bungalow les plus chers c’est glauque la dedans! Pas de safe box Pas d armoire, une étagère pourrie et 1 , oui 1 cintre des crochets au mur pour vos habits

• Keiko (10/5): Nice place, professional service, friendly and very good value - We spent the first two days of our trip at Mario, and for the last 3 nights, we decided to go back there. After staying at various places in Sumba - including fancy resorts and homestay, we found Mario the most suitable. Although nothing fancy, the staff is very professional, room is comfortable, not far from the airport, right by the water with nice clean beach. We also got to have a meal at Makan Dulu (the reception arranged transportation for us), very special experience. We would choose to stay at Mario again without any hestitation.

• Oskar (8/5): Genoten. - Heerlijke bamboehut met uitzicht op zee. Rijkelijk ontbijt en heerlijk diner. Medewerkers zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Omgeving is prachtig. Wij hadden zelf een motorbike dus hebben veel kunnen zien. Het zwembad zou eigenlijk iedere dag schoon gemaakt moeten worden. Jammer dat er kapotte ligbedden en zitzakken rond het zwembad staan. Haal deze weg en vernieuw het.

• Keiko (10/5): Very nice eco-friendly resort, best food we had in Sumba - Mario is a nice eco-friendly resort. I first booked it because it's beach front and not far from the airport (20 minutes drive), so not expecting much, and it turns out to be a surprise: spacious, with miles of beach with clean white sand; room is beautiful but hard to photograph, so it's a lot nicer than the posted photos; staff is very professional and speaks perfect English; food and service are both great (especially the grilled chicken), and after staying in various places in Sumba for over a week now, I can say that Mario serves the best food with most reasonable price; also Starlink is now available in Sumba so internet is reliable. By being the first resort set up in Sumba, everything holds up very well, nothing fancy but very very comfortable, I certainly can feel a mood lift after our first night there.

• Anne (8/5): Een fijne, rustige locatie voor een kort verblijf. - Het is een fijne, rustige plek met zwembad en direct aan zee. Het personeel is heel vriendelijk en wil je graag met alles helpen. De kamers zijn basic, maar prima en worden iedere dag schoongemaakt. Het is wat verouderd en het zwembad was niet erg schoon toen wij er waren. In de nabije omgeving is niet veel te doen, zonder chauffeur of eigen vervoer kun je niet zo veel.

In spite of the hotel looks not very new , but everything is clean and well-maintained territory. Good to stay for a couple of days while traveling around West Sumba.

Très belle plage au pied de l'hôtel pour marcher avec un lever et coucher de soleil superbe. En revanche trop de reaf pour se baigner. Très bien pour terminer un voyage à Sumba et se reposer 2-3 jours avant de reprendre l'avion car il n'y a pas grand chose à faire autour. Le dîner est correct. J'ai testé le massage, très bien. Sauf l'emplacement pour se faire masser qui se trouve au dessus de la salle de restaurant. Donc impossible de se détendre avec les gens qui parlent forts juste en dessous.... j'étais crispée en sortant... dommage.

• Anna (10/5): - Amazing place with great and helpful staff, nice beach and sunset. Great villas, even though it was hot at night without AC. The staff provided an extra fan for us, that was perfect. Very nice hotel! The hotel is a bit far from some of the main attractions on west Sumba, we drove on a scooter, so it was quite a few hours on the bike, but definitely doable.

Room is spacious and the bathroom is very aesthetically designed. Pool water was a bit cloudy and unclean during our stay.

• Michael (9/5): - Krásný hotel na "konci světa". Hotelový komplex má výjimečnou polohu přímo na břehu moře. Pláž se dá využít k nekonečným procházkám. Velmi oceňuji uspořádání hotelového komplexu. Samotný hotel je inspirací pro další ubytovatele na Sumbě, jak jsme se během našich cest dozvěděli. Personál je ochotný a vstřícný. V čase naší návštěvy byla poměrně rušná stavební činnost na přilehlých pozemcích. To zřejmě není možné ovlivnit ze strany hotelu.

• Eva (10/5): Super Hotel, gute Basis für Ausflüge - Die Atmosphäre war super entspannt. Es ist eine gemütliche, gepflegte Anlage auch wenn sie schon etwa ein die Jahre gekommen ist. Wir hatten ein frisch renoviertes Zimmer im Haupthaus, die Dusche war heiß und hatte einen guten Wasserdruck. Es gab viel Ablagefläche im Raum, was ich selten anfinde. Das Personal war super freundlich und hat uns gut beraten bei der Tour die wir über das Hotel gebucht haben. Diese war echt gut vom Preis/ Leistungsverhältnis. Die Preise im Restaurant sind auch super fair und günstig, das haben wir auf Sumba schon wesentlich teurer erlebt. Wir fanden das Mario Hotel super und kommen auf jeden Fall gerne wieder!
• Anette Holm (9/5): Dejligt resort - alt fungerede på stedet - men ikke før ankomst - beliggenhed på stranden er fin - men meget isoleret. - Dejligt resort og lækkert og stort værelse med veranda - luksus De var dårlige til at svare på noget inden ankomst. Havde sågar bedt dem sørge for afhentning i lufthavnen, hvilket de havde bekræftet. Der kom ikke nogen, så vi måtte selv arrange det og få chaufføren til at høre om der var en på vej - for så ville vi jo ikke benytte en anden til turen

La comida no es la mejor, no hay mucha variedad. Tienen servicio de lavandería pero es excesivamente caro. El baño está demasiado abierto al exterior para estar en un camino de paso. Si pasa alguien muy alto ge ve duchandote y se escucha todo.

• Sabine (10/5): Sehr empfehlenswert für Leute, die Ruhe suchen - Ein wunderschönes, ruhiges am Strand gelegenes Hotel mit einem schönen Pool, Liegen und gemütlichen Zimmern. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und liebenswert. Man fühlt sich wie "zuhause". Das Essen ist sehr gut, man kann einen Scooter mieten und das Hotel bietet ggf. einen Transfer vom/zum Flughafen an. Am Strand kann man wahrscheinlich nicht schwimmen. Und das Hotel liegt 13 km von Tambolaka entfernt. Man ist dort ziemlich isoliert. Aber mit einem scooter ist man schnell da. Mich hat es nicht sehr gestört. Ich schreibe das hier nur als Info.

• MIGUEL ANGEL (9/5): Sitio tranquilo, asilado y con buen trato del personal - Situado junto a la playa y con restaurante propio con platos locales y buenos precios. Ofrece la posibilidad de contratar un masaje en las propias instalaciones. Desayuno con poca variedad aunque correcto. La zona de la piscina es muy agradable. A 15 min del aeropuerto de Tambolaka Está algo aislado, si no alquilas una moto o tienes conductor debes permanecer allí. Siendo Sumba una isla con alto riesgo de malaria, debería tener red mosquitera en la cama.
