Guest Reviews
- juan carlos (8/5): - Excellent breakfast, gorgeous surroundings, we loved the cosy and unique decoration, the beautiful residency room with its fireplace and couches. Great staff, very available and extremely kind. Definitely returning here on our next stay in the Highlands.
- David (10/5): - Enjoyed my safe, would definitely stay there again. Great Vib in bar/restaurant, prices good. If in the area will definitely book again.
- Caris (10/5): Lovely hotel - The room was excellent and cozy. Breakfast was delicious as was dinner both nights we stayed. Service is top notch and we highly recommend this place for anyone.
- Kathryn (10/5): - The food is fantastic and the bar is well stocked. Be sure to make a dinner reservation if arriving after 4 or they may be booked!! Many folks eat there who are not staying at hotel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Quirky and dark… tiny rooms. - This was Not my favorite stay. The room was absolutely tiny and the bathroom so small you could barely use it. The room desperately needs a blackout curtain and a fan. The music from the bar downstairs was very loud. All these made for a very rough night’s sleep.
On a positive note, the building has been done in a very quirky, dark British fashion. There was a somewhat ominous, heavy presence about the building - perhaps tied with its rich history.
The staff were very gracious and welcoming and we appreciated the dinner reservation for the restaurant.
The included breakfast was very light, but they were happy to make a hot breakfast (at a charge of course) - of our five B&Bs, this was the only one who charged for a hot breakfast.
While in the Loch Ness region, it was on the opposite side of the water from many things to do, so it was a good 45 minute drive to our tour (much of it one-lane roads).
- Caitlin (8/5): - It was a good stay. The property was very well maintained and the decor inside was well selected. Room was very spacious and included everything you'd need or want during your stay. The restaurant gets busy and is a little loud until closing time, but they do supply earplugs in the room which is a very nice touch of you need them. I was also unfortunate in having a room neighbor that decided slamming doos was a fun activity and that was very annoying but not a problem with the hotel, just the guests in it! The continental breakfast was a little sparse but they do have additional breakfast items for a few.
- Anna (10/5): - Friendly staff, great breakfast options.
We dined twice at the restaurant and the food was excellent.
- Mara (10/5): - Everything was very nice. Location, staff, breakfast. The only thing I would only improve is blackout shields because the sunrise is too early.
- Neil (10/5): - Hotel was clean and cosy
- Emily (10/5): - We so enjoyed our stay and would return! The staff are friendly, the food was delicious and the hotel is beautifully decorated. 10/10!
- Simona Florina (10/5): - Truly unique! Right in the middle of gorgeous scenery. Waking up to the rolling mountains and the birds .
- Mark Gillies (10/5): - Lovely little hotel, quirky and interesting. Great staff, comfortable bed and fantastic location. Local fishing is good too!
- michael (10/5): - The excellent staff were relaxed, chatty and engaging, nothing was too much trouble.
Ensuite Room was warm and cozy. Food was excellent. The decor was an eclectic mix and worked really well. Well done the Whitehouse Hotel. Will definatelty be staying again.
- Ian (10/5): - Loads of character and charm. Staff fantastic
- Dan (8/5): - Staying at this property feels like stepping back into the 1800s. I've never seen so much wood and the decor is really nice. very very friendly staff and though it is a bit rough to get to it is worth the drive. I would stay here again in an instant. I will make one note that you should expect spotty internet, but everything else was completely excellent and absolutely worth a second trip!
- MRS APRIL S (10/5): Great start to our NC500 trip - Stayed at the beginning of our NC500 trip. Very welcoming, & dog friendly. Good food, great service & location. Enjoyed a lovely Scottish breakfast.
- Ann (8/5): - A quirky hotel, friendly staff. Comfortable room, although bathroom a little bit tight. Good food. Some of the downstairs decor a bit over the top.
- Dianne (10/5): - Absolutely loved our stay at the Whitebridge Hotel.
The quirky decor in this old hotel is a hidden treasure. Our room was lovely and clean and the meals were amazing.
Would definitely recommend anyone who wants a traditional stay in Scotland to stay here. Staff are friendly and there is plenty of room to relax. Book in for dinner though as it is very popular!
Met a lovely British couple and we sat and talked for hours in the lovely lounge room - could have had some heating on in the room, but we managed to chat without it until it got too late and too cold. Our room was lovely and warm though when we went back to it.
No option to advise we didn't want the beds made or the towels changed so maybe a suggestion to get some door signs made up. Being an eco-friendly country, we would have been happy to reuse our towels for another night.
- Taylor (10/5): - Our stay here was lovely, the room was cozy and the staff were excellent! Dinner was also delicious, will definitely stay again!
- Brian (10/5): Off the beaten path - This was by far the most fun place we stayed in Scotland. It is an older hotel and has character literally eefing off the walls. The folks that work there are incredibly good-natured and welcoming. Dinners and breakfast were delicious and filling.
- Margaret (10/5): - All the staff were delightful, and the bar and restaurant were excellent.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Such a gem!! - Truly a fantastic spot—if you’re on the fence STAY HERE. We wish we could go back right now!
The room was clean, cosy, and comfortable, with a beautiful view. The folks who work there are each so kind and compassionate, and it feels like a family atmosphere. The food was excellent! And on top of all of that, the hotel is surrounded by mountains, glens, and lochs. Such a wonderful way to see the highlands, we loved our stay!
- Adam (10/5): - Best hotel we had while staying in Scotland. Super accommodating and great food.
- Andrew (10/5): - Great location, cute room, awesome dinner with fun trivia cards.
- Peter (10/5): - A little out of the way, but it’s worth it. Excellent staff, excellent food, comfortable rooms, and great Scotch selection.
- Annesley (10/5): - Delightful
- Dawn (10/5): Perfect - I cannot say enough about how perfect this property is. Beautiful inside and outside Lots of quirky decor that’s fabulous. Restaurant had amazing food. Room was spacious and newer looking Staff was very welcoming and friendly.
- John (10/5): Super excluded hotel/bar. - Great place, it’s a shame it was only for one night.
- Holly (10/5): Room 2 - Charming. Recommended to stay
- Nicole (10/5): - What a lovely place to stay. The lounge was well equipped with games for us to play in the evening. The room was very clean, spacious enough for a family of 4. Nice little treat on arrival for a cup of tea. Very dog friendly. Dinner was very good with all homemade dishes and a good selection of wine. Stunning views in the morning of snow top mountains and a delicious Scottish breakfast to set us up for the day. This was a one night stay and was very a short trip to the Loch Ness. Highly recommend a boat trip if visiting.
- Morag (10/5): Lovely Quirky Hotel - Lovely quirky hotel, excellent staff, both evening meal and breakfast were very good. Will definitely return.
- Ninamarie (10/5): Great Food, Great Comfort, Great Ambience - We loved this hotel! The food was incredible. The hotel has a great atmosphere and the beds are very comfortable. The showers are nice and hot and very clean.
- Terry (10/5): Top notch - The staff were wonderful
- Robert (10/5): Local to Loch Ness - I really liked this place. I little quirky and definitely off the beaten track, but such a friendly welcome and the dinner was excellent - great menu; pity I was only there one night. Staff live locally and appeared to be a very happy team.
- Dawn (10/5): - Absolutely adorable place with super friendly and kind staff. Comfy bed and excellent shower. Breakfast was delicious. Would highly recommend a stay here.
- Joan (10/5): - The food is especially good at this Inn. The staff in the bar and restaurant are very friendly and provided great service. The bed was very comfortable and the room nicely decorated.
- Sarah (10/5): - We were here with two young children (3) and (6). This hotel was so incredibly thoughtful and accommodating. They have a playroom, delicious food in the restaurant, and a delightful staff. Everything was welcoming like a home away from home!
- Amy (10/5): - This is one of the best hotel stays I have ever had! It’s a lovely old building with so much character, but the rooms are still very spacious. The views out the windows are breathtaking.
We lucked out with staying on a Sunday and took advantage of the Sunday roast in the pub downstairs. Best salmon dinner of my life!! The free continental breakfast was also lovely.
The staff and owners are all gems! Everyone was so friendly.
- lisa (8/5): - Great location, cozy rooms and cozy restaurant. Would definitely go back.
- octavio (10/5): Very lovely hotel - Great stay; a hotel with lots of personality and very friendly staff. You do need a car to be able to stay there as it is a little away from the Loch Ness towns.
- Susan (10/5): - My daughter and I had an absolutely wonderful stay with this wonderful staff and wonderful hotel! Words cannot describe how gracious, inviting, fun, that the staff is at this Hotel. The rooms were wonderful and the food was exceptional! Kudos to Sarah, Sue and the staff for making this our favorite stay while we were in Scotland for 2 weeks. Anyone looking to stay somewhere where you will definitely be treated wonderfully should make this a must stay! We had so much fun and were so sad to leave but we will be back as a first stop for our next trip! Miss you Ladies!
- Kenneth (10/5): Excellent - Rooms were lovely and very clean. The staff are so friendly. Restaurant meals, first class Would highly recommend the hotel. If in the area visiting it is definitely worth a visit to restaurant for a meal
- Sally (10/5): Best stay of our trip! - We had a magical stay at the Whitebridge! We loved everything from the staff to the charm to the comfort to the pub full of locals to the Sunday Roast!
We want to come back and spend more time here and hike and sightsee there is so much to do!!! We highly recommend !
- Amanda (10/5): A gem of a hotel and dogs are truly welcome - We had a lovely stay at the Whiteinch hotel. It has its own unique style and we loved it, friendly staff who were so welcome and who really loved dogs and the food, well it was excellent. You need to book dinner if you stay as it’s so popular. breakfast is continental but for a very reasonable surcharge you can have a hot cooked breakfast with a range of options. We were here for business but will definitely be back and would recommend, it couldn’t have been any better.
- Robert (10/5): - If you want new on a budget, find a Travelodge, if you can? If you want a hotel with character, history, friendly staff and food to die for, at an amazingly inexpensive price, recommending incredible value for the price, stay at the Whitebridge! They don’t call their fish pie famous for nothing! It’s incredible and I highly recommend it. It’s our first stay at this hotel, but it certainly won’t be our last.
- elizabeth (8/5): - We had an amazing time here. Fantastic helpful and friendly staff and owners. Food delicious. I would stay here again
- jay (10/5): Little gem - Great hotel and super friendly staff
- Edward J (10/5): - Staff was amazing, great experience!
- Stephen (10/5): Views to die for - If you want a stay in a Scottish hotel this is the place to stay. Stags' heads on the walls etc etc. Friendly staff, scenery off the scale and the food very tasty
- Praveen (8/5): - It was a beautiful hotel with views. Only one thing I would say I did not like is air bed
- Michael (6/5): - Property is in a beautiful location and the view from the window was amazing. Dinner was great, however breakfast was a major letdown. The free continental breakfast consisted of only cereal, fruit, and deli meats. I had the pleasure of watching an old man pick up and inhale several deli meats and a child poking every yogurt which put me off. The scrambled eggs we ordered were wet and soggy, and unfortunately the fried breakfast was slightly burnt. The coffee and tea were just downright disgusting - when asked what coffee they served at breakfast we were told "it was from a pump". Also, don't plan on sleeping in, we were rudely awoken at 7am by a loud family next door... The walls aren't the thickest. To summarise, a great location, dinner was tasty, but breakfast was very disappointing, and you will most likely get woken up in the morning. Great for a quick road trip stop.
- Mark (10/5): - fun hotel with great staff. Great food and location was off the main roads in Loch Ness area. highly recommend to stay there.
- Nigel (10/5): - The hotel is delightful. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It's an ideal, out of the way, spot to use as a base to explore the Loch Ness area.
- Barclay (10/5): - We LOVED this cute place. It’s a little in the middle of no where (sorta in the middle of Fort Augustus and Inverness) but it was sooo cute, friendly service and yummy breakfast. Definitely recommend!
- Terence (8/5): - Extremely friendly staff ,quiet , good food nice location what more do you want!
- Keith (10/5): - Friendly staff and great food
- Scott (10/5): Whitebridge hotel recommended - Very warm welcome by very charming and efficient staff from start to finish. The food is fantastic and the overall feel is relaxing. Great outlook in a beautiful part of tbe world. I thoroughly recommend Whitebridge hotel to anyone looking for that traditional Scottish stay with top food and amazing staff.
- Alayna (8/5): - Lovely old Inn. Excellent restaurant for evening dining. Beautiful outdoor area. Some rooms are a bit small, but comfortable.
- josh (10/5): - Great hotel and staff.
- Phayungsak (10/5): - In a beautiful remote setting near Loch Ness with wonderful staff and great food. This is not a five star hotel but it provides a five star experience.
- D (10/5): great place to wind down - rooms were a good size spotless and really quiet
- Roger (4/5): could be good - The hotel appeared to be being run on a shoe string . The staff in general did not appear to be trained in their work, example the curry to night is beef when it was to the table your chicken curry sir ,NOT GOOD. The bathroom door was jamming on the frame so reported it ,never had this
,complaint before, we will get a man in to fix it , having been out all day he arrived at 19.30 and took an hour to repair the door , staff did not tell us he had , the man himself happened to me , Then we had to report an electrical problem of the bathroom light / extractor working intermittently then finally the extractor did not work .
- Wayne (8/5): 3 night stay - Very clean, comfortable and in keeping with the surroundings. Food excellent and at a reasonable price, easy access for Loch Ness and Inverness.
Thank you team
- Caroline (10/5): - Original, slightly quirky decor, excellent food and friendly staff.
- Daley (10/5): - Great hotel, lovely staff, fantastic food and full of character
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The place is absolute gem with beautiful sights around. It is 10 miles on either side of Fort Augustus and Inverness and one can also go for trekking near by. There are good view points 5 miles from the place.
About the hotel, it deserves more than 5 star for the location and the stay is very comfortable. The hotel is dog friendly and the staff are always there. A family run business, with good breakfast and dinner which is something not to be missed. The hotel is known for its dinner delicacy and prefer booking in advance.
Overall, a great stay at the place and would recommend strongly.
- David (10/5): Quiet - Lovely old hotel, full of character.
Staff very friendly.
- Nicolas (10/5): Gem of a hotel in a remote location - What a lovely hotel with lots of quaint touches. Makes it feel very homely.
- Stephen (8/5): Comfortable stay near Loch Ness. - Comfortable hotel, spacious room. Good bar menu, very large portions in restaurant. Tip, dont oversize main courses then you can easily sell three courses. Bigger profits and a better balanced meal.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very welcoming and friendly staff. Rooms were clean and nicely decorated. Restaurant /bar was excellent, very nice food.
The whole building was well thought out so there was something for everyone, a lounge to relax in, good size restaurant and bar, outdoor space for when the weather is nice, also lots well kept features to show the buildings history.
Great location and great price, would like to visit again in the future and will certainly recommend to others.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location, well furnished without taking themselves to seriously. Lots of pictures on the wall and fun details. Food good, bar prices fair. Would recommend to anyone.
- JACQUELINE (6/5): Good base for exploring Loch Ness - The location is amazing and the staff were great. We are at the restaurant which was also very good. The room however was not relaxing, we had the constant thud, thud of the music from downstairs. (Don't have room 8 if you go to bed early.)
- Dawn (10/5): Wonderful hotel owned by amazing people. - We had an amazing time. This is a beautiful hotel, surrounded by countryside. The staff were so lovely and we felt like we were as comfortable as we would be in our own home. They made us so welcome and were so helpful.
- Alistair (10/5): Fantastic hotel with typical Highland hospitality - Cracking hotel in a wonderful area. Particularly nice bar to settle at after a long day of walks, with excellent service and very good food.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The restaurant was unexpectedly excellent. The service was also top notch. The location is kind of in the middle but f nowhere, but it worked well for us to explore the Isle of Skye.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great food at restaurant. Personnel were friendly and helpful.
- Mike (10/5): - Staff are extremely gracious and willing to go the extra mile. The Chef, Graham even collaborated on a new recipe with me for Eggs Graham !
although the hotel is ten miles from anywhere, you don't have to leave. Good bar, great food and stunning views. We used the hotel as a base to explore Inverness and both sides of Loch Ness. No, we did not find Nessie, but we looked.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Rooms were nice the property was pretty. I was a little upset I checked in not only were my rooms wrong even though I booked 9months ago. I also told them my family members were disabled and the stairs were hard. I’m a small female. The gentleman and I use that term loosely didn’t even offer to hold one of the three doors open as I struggled and dragged everyone’s luggage up one by one. I found it rude and really disappointing. I will say in the morning there was a female at the desk and she couldn’t have been nicer and even offered to make us breakfast goodie bags.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room was quite clean and comfortable, and very quiet - surprisingly so with a pub below. Staff were friendly and professional. Food in the pub was quite good. The only negative was the shower, which had rather wimpy pressure. It was still a good find.
- Ana (8/5): Cosy, great service, great views - Beautiful building with outstanding views. Service extremely good. Breakfast very good.
We should have had a room with a bath and king size bed. The only reason we didn’t complain was that the view from the room given was so wonderful. Would recommend a stay here.
- Anne (10/5): - The Staff were exceptional. Althought the hotel seems rural, it is worth the peace and quiet. Great food and drink each day.
- Julie (8/5): - Spacious room and meals were lovely. Even if you are staying at the hotel remember to book a table for dinner.
I had to leave early so the staff kindly gave me some takeaway boxes to pack myself some breakfast which was much appreciated.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This property was the most beautiful & accommodating hotel we stayed at during our time in Scotland. It is a very clean, classic Scottish property, with the most helpful staff, and a wonderful restaurant & bar to boot! We just wished somehow our entire Scotland vacation was at this ideal property! A must stay!!! ⭐️
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Adorable bed and breakfast in the Highlands. Rooms were big, clean and well stocked. The door did not have a peephole so you could check who was knocking on the door before answering. I thought that was a little odd but I felt completely safe there. The pub attached served great drinks, did not get a chance to have dinner there but it smelled delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was great and lots of options. A full Scottish breakfast is available for purchase. If I am lucky enough to be on holiday in Scotland again, I would definitely stay here again.
- Sean (8/5): Charming hotel in a wonderful part of the world - We arrived late one night, and the lovely staff were nice enough to make us some dinner even though the kitchen had shut.
The hotel itself is in a wonderful part of Scotland, a short drive from Loch Ness and the Falls of Foyers.
The building apparently dates back to 1899, and has obviously been renovated since then but still has lots of old-world charm. Being fairly remote, it was of course very quiet as there's nothing much else around.
There was no phone service, but the WiFi was fast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a fantastic 'Oldie World Décor' making it very comfortable and welcoming - as soon as we walked through the door we felt at home. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful, there is an excellent Bar and a lounge area were books, games and music can be found if you just want to read or relax. Outside seating and a restaurant (where Breakfast is found). Our room (11) was large and airy with a view over the fields, woods and hills - there was a road but not that busy so little problem with noise. The food was superb; lots of choice and hot and so tasty - as was the continental breakfast (cooked is available at an extra price).
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly and welcoming. The room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. You won't find better scenery anywhere else in the UK, it's incredible. Had a cracking night in the bar with owners Bella and Lesley, and it's not expensive either.
Tommy (aka Paul)
- Debbie (10/5): - Lovely friendly staff- very quiet location but only a few miles from Fort Augustus.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great stay at a local hotel - We had a lovely stay at the Whitebridge hotel. The room was basic but very comfortable. The staff were all friendly and made us feel welcome. The pub was a winner with great food and we were lucky enough to catch some live local music. Thank you for our great stay!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff was pleasant & attentive. Good food. Rooms clean & bright.
- Kit (10/5): - perfect location. very friendly staff. food was great and bar well stocked.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Whitebridge Hotel was an amazing treasure! It was a bit off the beaten path, but was like a breath of fresh air. Situated in an area full of natural beauty, the Hotel has lots of areas designed to sit and enjoy. Built in 1899, it has this old world charm that’s been beautifully maintained. If you like something different, something less homogenized, you’ll love this! There is also a fantastic restaurant where you can enjoy a tasty meal while not feeling rushed. And a great breakfast is included. Really, I can’t say enough about this place! You have to try it! You’ll love it!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - good level of accommodation in a pub in idyllic rural setting. Rooms ok. Very good continental breakfast included in price. Evening meal was tasty but limited choice.
- holly (10/5): Iconic rural Inn - This place is an iconic rural Scottish Inn. It’s comfortable quaint and friendly. It’s out in the middle of nowhere which I realized when we drove out there, but the drive is spectacular and the area is quiet and lovely. I was glad to have found it. The restaurant and pub were very busy the night we arrived so the service wasn’t particularly quick and efficient but that was ok. We weren’t in a huge hurry. If you are looking for high luxury this isn’t it. If you are looking for comfortable character and an authentic friendly Scottish experience, I highly recommend this.
- Anita (10/5): - The breakfast was far more than was expected.
Dinner was excellent!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautifully decorated, food delicious and staff friendly and helpful
- Linda (10/5): Hidden Gem - Our stay was unfortunately only for one night. The room was great, food was fantastic. It’s popular with the locals so make sure you book a table for dinner when you check in.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The attached dining room was surprisingly good as were the breakfasts included with the room.
- Paul (10/5): Great stay - Very friendly staff and great service, lovely stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location is superb. Great mountain views out the back. Friendly welcome and great food and atmosphere in the bar. Unfortunately they have no decaf tea ir coffee in the room or at breakfast and the cooked breakfast took 25 minutes to arrive even though we were the only ones who had ordered. But overall a good stay
