Guest Reviews
- Katherine (9/5): - Great staff, everything needed without all the usual fuss, simplicity that indicates quality and good taste. Lovely homely atmosphere. Good food.
- ysella (7/5): - Needing a little TLC, however for one night stopover it did us fine. View down the loch was good, although a fast road to be next to. Not the best, not the worst. No hot water tap for bath. Shame no music night despite being advertised. Little alternative dietary options for evening meal.
- CHRISTINE (5/5): Disappointing for the price. Bar staff were friendly. - The location. Food was good although limited. Very dated room and bathroom .
- Peter (9/5): Excellent and friendly staff and food and breakfast was excellent - The staff where very friendly and the breakfast was the best we have had on our trip by some way.
Also had a meal at bar which was fab Couldn’t fault the place tbh
- Feng (9/5): -
- Marie Jose (8/5): Heel fijn verblijf. - De vriendelijkheid en servicegerichtheid van het personeel. De gezellige pub met live muziek.
- diane (10/5): - friendly and helpful staff clean and welcoming great food in bar and lovely cooked breakfast. Ideal srop over when doing nc500. would recommend and definitely stay again nothing all good if had to be picky would be nice to have either a tv or radio in room
- Patricia (10/5): An enjoyable stay in a quirky hotel. - We loved our stay at the Dundonnell. We were made to feel so welcome by the lovely owners and staff. The beds were very clean and comfortable. We were in room 12 and the bed was enormous- possibly a super king?
Yes, the hotel and furnishings are dated (back to the 70's) and worn around the edges, but we found it to be clean where needed e.g. the bathroom. We had a very quirky shower, but give it time for the hot water to come through and you'll have a great shower.
The car park is across from the hotel, but past this is a wonderful view. Various hot drinks tray in the room with shortbread biscuits.
Our evening meal was delicious and more than enough was on offer at breakfast. Nothing. All good.
- GARY (2/5): For the cost - shocking ! - The staff So so shabby and neglected
- Jeroen (8/5): -
- Mark (7/5): I expected something better for the price paid to be honest. - Great location, friendly staff Breakfast was very average in terms of choice.
- Joanne (9/5): Wonderful experience - We were made to feel very welcomed by staff during our stay. Rooms were clean and comfortable, dinner and breakfast enjoyable.
We especially enjoyed the live music and vibe of the place. Nil
- Sharon (7/5): A tired hotel - A tired old fashioned hotel, in need of refurbishment, newer furnishings and a few personal touches in the room, eg a tea tray, instead of 2 cups full of coffee/ tea / sugar sachets. Bedside table for both beds, with lamps. Painting the walls a different colour, newer hairdryer ( electrician needed review? )
- Francois (10/5): - Tout.
Rien
- Julia (5/5): - Very dated and tired looking in many areas
- Adam (7/5): -
- olivier (8/5): -
- Michael (10/5): Gutes Hotel ! - Ein nettes Hotel. Alles da was man braucht. Nettes freundliches Personal.
- MARIA MILAGRO (7/5): -
- Roberts (8/5): -
- Don (9/5): - Comfortable relaxed excellent dinner and breakfast
- Timothy (10/5): - Great staff and lovely location. The good heating allowed us to dry all our bike gear after a wet day!
- Steve (6/5): Ullapool has much better options. - We were allowed to check in a little bit early and a comfy bed. A real 1980s feel to the whole place.
Noisy extractor fan outside my window.
Limited menu and only 2 white wines which were both awful.
No Guinness on tap.
No telly in the room.
Weak shower pressure.
- Merle (8/5): -
- Rebecca (3/5): Don't waste your money, keep driving - Nothing The room was massively outdated with an avocado bathroom suite
It would have been very modern when it was decorated in 1965
There are no TVs in the rooms which is great during the day but once the sun goes down there is nothing to do in the lounges there is no atmosphere at all not even a little background music it is a very dead place which could be an absolute goldmine if some money was spent on the place
The evening staff a young couple were lovely however the morning staff were not great our breakfast plates were banged down in front of us without a word and whisked away in the same manner,
When checking out the woman we spoke to was borderline rude
So bottom line would i stay here again NO!
- Janette (7/5): - Large bed. Spacious room. Two comfortable armchairs No tv. No milk. Shower not very powerful
- Graham (7/5): -
- Rachel (10/5): Stunning, remote location. Comfortable relaxing stay. - Authentic highland stay, away from the touristy hotspots peacefully located at the head of a beautiful loch viewed from the bar, lounge and restaurant (and our room!).
Welcoming friendly staff.
Simple menus with good food.
Fresh decor in a traditional style. Very clean.
Local musicians' performance a wonderful bonus during our stay.
A relaxing, comfortable 2 nights here.
- Quinton (5/5): - Great location Food was poor .no tv . Bathroom very dated and took a age for the water to run hot
- Paul (6/5): - remote haven in the Highlands, great staff could do with a refresh
- Robert (9/5): Great location and great staff. - The staff and the view It needs to be up dated
- Denis (10/5): -
- Luce (9/5): -
- Jill (8/5): - Location
- Emmanuelle (9/5): Un lieu idyllique - La cadre magnifique
- Toni (8/5): Great location and amazing views - Location and beds were comfy The bunk beds were quite small for older children ( teens)
- David (7/5): The hotel was convenient, the food was well cooked but lacked imagination in its preparation and presentation - Location Spacious
- Jason (9/5): would stay again. - Good sized room. Great food. Excellent breakfast. internet was incredibly slow.
- Ian (7/5): Clean and comfortable. - Great location and views. Clean and comfortable. Two chairs in the room. Excellent lamb shank. Music on a Friday night. Good breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff. Decor was tired. Wallpaper beginning to peel in our room. Low water pressure on our shower.
- Ron (7/5): -
- stéphanie (8/5): -
- Lynn (8/5): Good hotel but could be even better! - Large clean comfortable room with great view.Very friendly staff especially the young Australians in the bar/restaurant . Lovely evening meals. Bathroom was functional but in need of a complete refurbishment. No TV which didn't particularly bother us but maybe should be specified in description.Breakfast a bit limited if you didn't want anything cooked.
- lisa (7/5): - Hotel was decor was very dated
- Julie (7/5): -
- Yuxiu (10/5): Great for climbing An Teallach - Perfect base for climbing the An Teallach. I really enjoyed the bath in my room. Nothing beats a hot bath after a tired day on the mountain. The food was also nice. The reception was only open from 3 pm. I arrived earlier and the whole place was empty. It was not a big deal though.
- William (7/5): Good comftable stay with good staff. - Location. Dated
- Debbie McIlravey (8/5): While the hotel is quite dated, it was very clean and in a great location." - The location was lovely overlooking the loch. The staff were really friendly and check in was easy.
Our room was ok but there was an issue with our friend’s room so we mentioned it, and they were moved to another room by the owner with no problem.
The breakfast was basic but good. Cold buffet selection and hot food cooked fresh to order. The room decor and soft furnishings were tired so it looked a little dirty but it wasn’t. The bathroom was avocado green and quite old but it served its purpose and we had lovely hot shower.
The owner explained that he is slowly updating the bathrooms to walk in showers so there will be some refurbished rooms soon I believe.
- Cécile (10/5): - Emplacement magnifique, personnel super agréable. Très grand confort dans les chambres. Restauration impeccable.
- MARK W2104 (10/5): Very relaxing environment - The location is superb if you want a 'tech free' experience, there is wifi but no tv in the rooms, which for me was perfect as I have Sky Go and could watch tv/films that way..
The comfy&warm room looked out onto the Loch/sea and there was plenty of wildlife to lazily watch..
The staff were as attentive as anyone could be, nothing was a bother and any issues were sorted immediately with a smile..
The breakfast was good too, cooked fresh and came hot, loads of options from just toast/a bowl of cereal to a full Scots fry up.. OR BOTH if you were hungry.
Had an evening meal in the restaurant and that was nice, was fresh and hot and was reasonable value.
Can't really fault this hotel/staff really, yes its a little dated but in my opinion that just adds to the whole experience, its not a brand new hotel offering the latest in tech with brand new rooms/decor, so don't expect it or mark it down when you get there...
Would I book again? ABSOLUTELY 💯%!! Nothing
- Maxime (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay. We booked at last minute and didn't regret it. Rooms are big. Great with young kids (games, books, beds...).
Did at restaurant was great.
We were lucky enough to arrive on Monday night with live music night at the bar (I believe the other night is Friday.
Great location on the NC500
Lovely people welcomed us and served us. WiFi a bit weak
- Louise (7/5): Lovely comfortable hotel with great food. - Cosy hotel on the edge of Loch Broom with amazing views. Hosts were extremely welcoming and even though they had a problem with their gas in the kitchen called us in advance to warn the menu maybe limited. We had dinner at the hotel which was very good. Even though the decor is outdated it provided a cosy atmosphere and bedrooms were comfortable. Would reccommend. Our rooms didn't really have a view which was a shame.
- Erica (6/5): -
- Marga (6/5): Het kan er mee door... - Het hotel heeft een opknap beurt nodig. Het ziet er niet gezellig uit. Het bed is erg zacht.
- John (8/5): Lovely hotel and friendly staff - We had an evening meal which was very good. The breakfast was good. The staff were all friendly. The hotel is placed in a remote area but the views were fantastic. The night sky was amazing and the stars were spectacular The bathroom could had done with a bit of a revamp
- frank (8/5): Nice hotel for the money and would stay there again - Nice and clean, fair prices at the bar, friendly staff It was a little dated
- Matt (2/5): Completely unjustifiable price for a very, very dated hotel. The breakfast I was served was awful. - The lady who booked us in and served us breakfast was helpful and friendly. To charge £210 per night for an incredibly dated room, filthy windows, wallpaper peeling off the bathroom wall. Heavily stained bathroom floor. Threadbare bed linen. No tv/radio. I asked for scrambled egg on toast for breakfast and was served wet, poorly whisked eggs on bread.
- Khalid (3/5): -

Unusual smell in the stairway.
- Clive (8/5): -
- Sarah (7/5): Comfortable and happy - Amazing staff, lovely atmosphere. A little tired decor wise but the hospitality easily makes up for it
- Wilma (7/5): Clean, warm and comfortable which was what we were after. - Good location and the food and staff were excellent It’s rather dated and no Tv in the room
- Alison (10/5): - Amazing setting and really lovely, friendly staff. The room was a little tired (the bathroom more so with avocado sweet and needed redecorating) but it was clean and very comfortable. The food was amazing, the best belly pork I've had and breakfast was a simple help yourself buffet with choice of cooked items. We would absolutely stay again if in the area. Nothing we didn't like
- Johann (7/5): älteres Landhotel, mitten in der Landschaft - Sehr freundliches Landhotel, schon in die Jahre gekommen, Zimmer und Bad ok, gutes Frühstücksbuffet
- Neil (8/5): -
- Peter (10/5): -
- david (8/5): - Evening meal good, hospitality very good, breakfast fine Bed could have been.more comfortable
- Harold (9/5): - Personal Scottish touch. No complaints
- Roberto (10/5): Un sogno - Un sogno.
- Dian (10/5): We had the best time visiting all the sites in the area. Came back for a relaxing bath and great food. Highly recommend - The location, food and staff were excellent N/A
- Raelene (7/5): Great stay at a great location! - The location was great, food was amazing, staff were very friendly, overall great stay! Rooms were dated and Hotel was quite old but pictures are accurate so you know what you’re getting!
- Pam (9/5): - Great staff, in a great spot. Would highly recommend Nothing
- Lee (7/5): -
- Elizabeth (7/5): Was comfortable for one night nice scenery - Friendly staff Dinner was ok but sparse on the veg very nouvelle cuisine but not lets feed hungry travellers - shame
- Ullrich (9/5): - Absolut charmantes, großzügiges Hotel mit sehr gutem Restaurant, frisch zubereitetem schottischen Frühstücksteller nach Wünsch. Große Anlage, großes Zimmer und bequemes großes Doppelbett. Große, gut ausgestattete Kinder-Spielecke.
Parken kostenfrei.
L acceuil, le charme so british! Rien
- Dave (8/5): Ticked every box. Comfortable and lovely staff - Location was fantastic Dated
- PETER (4/5): - We chose this hotel because it was on the edge of the Loch. The accommodation was adequate, but the hotel felt tired and run down. We paid more for this accommodation than at all the other 9 properties we stayed at on our visit. It was disappointing and we will not return.
