The private Onsen in our room was so soothing and nice. We enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast that was served with the highest quality and care for details, also it was so beautiful. Nothing,it was amazing.

La habitación estilo Ryokan, te traslada a otra época de Japón, y junto al río, super relajante dormir con el sonido del agua. No es una crítica en absoluto, puesto que hay que adaptarse a las costumbres del país que se visita, pero el desayuno tradicional... No digo que no sea bueno, que lo es, pero para alguien de fuera, comerse unas gambas, una sopa y pescado a las 8 de la mañana, como que cuesta... Y el horario de cena, es máximo a las 18:30, pero repito, hay que adaptarse, no es una crítica, es un aviso a navegantes 😌

• Damian (8/5): - A very warm greeting and polite staff made me feel like I'm truly welcome. We have been taken to the room, where the staff explained about all facilities, brought in yukatas according to our heights and even served us tea with local sweets right in the room. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and served in amazing handmade pottery, making it an all-sense experience, rather than just eating. Hotel interior was also great with lots of living flowers and fresh bouquets, leaving a luxurious memory. The hotel is actually facing a rather not busy road across the river, so it's not a secluded place, but not a nuisance. Also, couldn't find how to turn off the lamp at the balcony, so it stayed lit all night. Also, there were no power outlets nears the beds.

• Darlene Hannah Jane Rasco (10/5): Extremely Kind Staff and Wonderful Onsen - The place had a beautiful traditional Japanese 70's interior with striking midcentury influences. All of the staff were extremely friendly and warm, and the outdoor onsen was incredible. The shower products were also wonderful and great on the skin and hair, and the meals served were so delicious. All in all an unforgettable experience. Just outside was a bus stop that took you to the ropeway leading up to the Chuo Alps. I would come here again! Nothing. The service was simply phenomenal, with complimentary matcha upon arrival and a lovely cleaning service where they arranged our futons for us and replaced our yukatas.

The staff were amazing and we loved the little visit from The manager during dinner letting us know about the weather for the next day, it was very thoughtful. The meals they provided were delicious and very filling. One of the staff even polished our shoes. They truly go the extra mile. Incredible. We would highly recommend this place to stay and we would love to come back here.

• ElenaB. (10/5): Real Japanese style relaxing experience - If you are looking for a true Japanese onsen luxury experience, look no further! The onsen is wonderful, outside surrounded by the garden, the room was comfortable, huge, and with everything we needed, the dinner at the restaurant was stunning and delicious. Staff has been extremely welcoming, surpassing any language barrier. Special mention to Rei who made us feel super special ❤️ Not super easy to reach, especially when the bus stops (the bus stop is in front of the hotel though)

• Claudia (10/5): Une adresse incontournable tellement l'hôtel est magique et le personnel dévoué - Personnel très dévoué dès l'accueil : sans que je ne le demande, ils ont fait tout ce qui était possible pour retrouver mes chaussures oubliées dans un Ryokan à 800 km de là! Quelle surprise quand elles m'ont finalement été livrées sur place par la poste pour trois fois rien. Cuisine de grande qualité par un véritable chef, servis dans des salons différents chaque jour, avec vue panoramique sur la rivière. Personnel du restaurant très attentif et souriant. Un vrai diner aux chandelles! Onsen magnifiques. Accueil personnalisé par le gérant en cours de séjour. Une belle volonté de rendre l'expérience dans son Ryokan toujours plus magique et de qualité!
• Dan (10/5): Exceptional staff and service, beautiful surroundings, and an authentically Japanese atmosphere - We were struck by the genuine warmth and courtesy of the staff, a welcome reminder of old-fashioned hospitality that is harder to come by back home nowadays! Breakfast and dinner spreads were impressive, fresh, and clean. Staying in a part of Japan that retained its authentic character, free from the usual tourist crowds, made the experience all the more special.

If you go to kiso everyday I would sleep near kiso and no there but we had car so it was fine. Dinner was not good at all. It was a japan style dinner but really hard and no option for people who don’t eat that kind of food. Also I asked to make a coffee in the morning and the staff making everything it’s not like everywhere else. No milk it was wired . I prefer regular breakfast to choose my own meal

• Ciera (10/5): Refreshing myself in the mountains. - Perhaps I’m biased not being from Japan, but I found this inn to be absolutely lovely. The fresh flowers and calming outdoor gardens were a beautiful touch. Yes, the building is older but I think it reflects a bygone era in its aesthetics - one that I enjoy greatly! The baths were really warm and the sauna was VERY hot (also small, two people max can be in it but this is a smaller inn). It wasn’t unbearable but you may find yourself alternating between the three pools often. The cold pool was the perfect ambient temperature to solve this “dilemma”. Thankfully we lucked out with cool weather for our summer stay. It rained and with the balcony it was quite peaceful to simply sit outside and listen to the sounds as you overlook the forest. The kaseki service was very filling! There were many great local dishes and I found the flavors to blend very well. I love seafood! Breakfast was also lovely. The dishware was gorgeous. I advise one take a taxi out front of Kanagome Station to arrive for convenience, unless you time the bus well. Great location, phenomenal staff (everyone went above and beyond to provide great service), and a truly calming experience. Thank you again and I hope to stay here once more in the future. If I had to complain about anything it’d be that the room I booked had a shower head in the tub but nowhere to hang it, which can be annoying if you’re like me and don’t want to hold it the entire time to wash. I can be lazy though. :P

• Hisako (5/5): うーん、2回目は無いかな。 - 景色がとてもよかった。 設備が古すぎる。トイレ洗面所お風呂の部屋の電気が暗い。 3人部屋なのにコンセントが少なくて充電したい機器の多いこの時代には困るなと思った。 カーテンが一枚で閉めると暗く開けると朝日が入りすぎる、レースのカーテンとかあればいいのに。 ご飯は美味しかったです。

• Christopher (10/5): Excellent discovery - This onsen hotel is aimed at the local market, but they are extremely welcoming to the occasional foreign visitor. The hotel is impeccably kept. Meals are superb, and the spa facilities are idyllic. Nearby thousand-year-old Buddhist temple under towering trees is a top sight. The one thing they could do is offer better coffee at breakfast. Of course the tea is perfect, but travellers sometimes need coffee to get started ...
• Xin (8/5): Japanese hospitality at its finest ! Highly recommend ! - Excellent 5 star service from staff. It's japanese hospitality at its finest ! Food was well curated, onsen was beautiful and just touched by how the staff were all so kind and hospitable. Even the General Manager himself came to each customer to greet them. Amneties that were provided were of highest quality. I fully recommend them The hotel is slightly old but is kept at top notch condition and everything is extremely clean.

• Austin (10/5): A wonderful memory! - Our stay was one of the most eye-opening and interesting experiences. It was a true privilege to stay here. Every detail was immaculate and purposeful. Meals were orchestrated with beauty and left nothing else to be desired. The staff was excellent and made us feel like we were truly at home despite the language barrier. They went above and beyond to see to it that we got to our next destination once we checked out. This was a true once in a lifetime opportunity that will never be forgotten!

The staff were very friendly and we had lovely Japanese ladies who personally showed us to our rooms and made tea for us, and offered local Japanese snacks. We had a lovely chat, albeit limited English from them. Dinner and breakfast were served in a private room, food and service were awesome! We had a birthday celebration and they prepared a lovely cake for us. We had such a wonderful stay that we are still reminiscing weeks after our trip. Nothing

• Patricia (8/5): Good for 1 night. - Fabulous food, wonderful onsen, friendly and helpful staff. Room was too small for two friends travelling together, communication before arrival was very difficult (I wrote in English and replies were in Japanese). It’s a challenge to get to with public transportation.
• William (10/5): What an awesome & memorable experience with Futari Shizuka! - It was easy to locate the place with the on-board computer in the car. We were welcome with hot tea and sweets in our room. The room was huge and we had two separate sleeping areas. The large bathroom came with a wooden tub for in-room ofuru and also two other separate toilets. A small kitchen was available but we did not cook or made any food as dinner was provided. The dinner was meant for a king which we found difficulty completing the full sumptous & luxurious course. Next morning, the breakfast provided was equally good! We enjoyed the indoor and outdoor ofuru too! We will return to this beautiful place if we travel to Nagano again! Nothing to complain.

• Rachel (9/5): Superb - The outside onsen is amazing. And the location is beautiful recommend a hike around. Loved wearing yukata around the building. The staff were friendly and tried to be helpful despite the language barrier (have Google translate at the ready) I tried to be adventurous and try the seafood meals provided but still not to my taste. (That’s a me issue not the property, the meals were so cool )

The food is great, the location couldn’t be better, right next to a bus stop by the river, with views to the central alps and the woods. The staff is so polite and helpful. They go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. Nothing.
