- Emily (8/5): Lovely short stay - Lovely staff , very friendly ! Great location One of the rooms didn’t have hot water , and all the beds were a bit hard
- MacDonell (10/5): A beautiful oasis in the Medina of Marrakesh - Riad dar Thalge is an oasis in Marrakesh! As soon as you enter, peace and serenity descends.
We arranged to have dinner on our first night due to our evening arrival time- delicious food and very helpful staff on our arrival.
We loved the authenticity of the riad, quirky and traditional.
Listening to the call to prayer at 5.30am from the roof terrace was simply wonderful.
The owners, Franke and Marie, are such helpful and friendly people, offering advice, chatting with us, made it feel like home. Salah is a gem...even gifted me flowers for my birthday!!!
The ladies who prepared breakfast are lovely and our rooms were refreshed beautifully each day.
I felt like my grown up kids and I have made new friends 🧡 Absolutely nothing!!!
- Bernadett (6/5): - We did not receive breakfast We did not receive breakfast

- Simona (10/5): - Frank and Mary made our stay - they were so helpful with everything before and during our stay. Could not thank them enough!

- Guido (10/5): Top!
- Marina (9/5): -
- Margherita Bauda (8/5): - Colazione molto buona.
- Claire (7/5): A simple, clean and friendly welcome to Marrakech - Super clean and nice rooftop terrace. Breakfast was very simple but fresh. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. In a location that’s close to the Medina but quiet. Our room didn’t get wifi, overall the connection was a bit inconsistent in other areas of the riad. The bathroom ceiling in our room was so low that we had to crouch to shower, use the toilet etc.
- José Antonio (10/5): Perfecto - La amabilidad
- Nicole (9/5): -
- Capiglioni (10/5): - Beautiful riad, good taste. Breakfast on the roof.
On recommande ++
Foncez !
- Francesca (8/5): Nice stay, clean and cool - Breakfast was good, the Riad is in the Medina and at 20 minutes from the main attractions of Marrakech. Rooms are refreshable and there is a nice pool to cool off from the heat of Marrakech
- Araseli (9/5): Superb - Friendly staff and comfortable bed 😇 It was a bit far from the main square, all in all ok if you enjoy a walk...
- Carl (9/5): Nice stay in an area with local people. Good value. Great hosts. - Frank and Mary were outstanding hosts. Frank arranged the taxi from the airport and met us at the taxi drop off point to walk us to the Riad. He also walked us back to the square when it was time to leave to make sure we took the right taxi back to the airport. We had many questions that were all answered patiently. The breakfast served every morning in the courtyard was lovely. More light is needed in the room. Particularly over the mirror by the sink.
- Jillian (9/5): Amazing location, clean and kind hosts - Well located but away from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. Rooms were spacious but had a historical feel. Very peaceful. Frank and Mary were helpful and hospitable Our door took a while to get accustomed to as the lock was stiff but this only took a try or two to get used to. Honestly, not even an issue in the end
- Arfan (5/5): Passable -
- James (10/5): Wonderful small riad in a non-tourist location of the medina - Frank & Mary hosted us really well and made us feel very welcome.
We really enjoyed the location outside the main tourist spots of the Medina - we felt we got a small insight into local Moroccan life…including great street food eaten alongside the locals at local prices.
The roof terrace was a beautiful place to do yoga every morning and we found a great early morning 5 mile running route that was quiet and traffic free. Nothing
- Rūta (10/5): Exceptional - Super friendly owners, helping you in every possible way. They greeted us at the taxi drop off location and showed the way to riad, which is in a very convenient location, close to the Medina. Breakfast was very nice, included fresh juice, fruits, bread. We enjoyed our stay a lot! Nothing
- Federico (10/5): Exceptional - A True Home Away from Home in Marrakech.
Our stay at this Riad was an experience we’ll cherish forever, thanks to the incredible warmth and hospitality of Franck and Mary. From the moment we arrived, they welcomed us like family, making us feel instantly at home. Their genuine kindness, attention to detail, and passion for sharing Moroccan culture truly set this place apart. Everything was perfect.
- Milica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Giulia (7/5): Good - Staff, they were really nice with us.
Food and breakfast Position, Cleaning
- Annie (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic hosts, good location, lovely breakfasts !! Needed just a little more lights in the room, it was a bit dark in the bathroom area.
- Natalie (10/5): Exceptional - The Riad is just perfect. Very central but like an oasis in the busy Marrakech. A quiet tranquil spot. Frank was very helpful and provided us with tips and support.
We felt at home and enjoyed staying at Riad Thalge. N/A
- Bingying (10/5): Exceptional - I can't speak enough about my stay at Riad Thalge. First of all the location is excellent, it was an easy walk to the hustle and bustle, but very quiet during the night for a peaceful rest. The Riad is beautiful and provides all the needed facilities. But what really sets them apart is how much they truly care about their guests. A few days into my trip, my phone was stolen. Franck was incredibly helpful while I tried to sort things out. And when I had to unfortunately cut my trip short, he helped me arrange transportation and even gave me a book to read on the flight home. I would have been very lost had it not been for the amazing support of Franck and Riad Thalge. Whenever I return to Morocco, I will for sure stay here again.
- João (10/5): Amazing! - Franck and Marie were amazing hosts. We felt very well treated and they were helpful with everything. Our stay was amazing, the place is beautiful and we couldn’t be happier to stay at riad thalge. Location is perfect too. Greatful!
- Moritz (9/5): Superb - Very calm Riad in an area with not too much tourists. I had a good stay. You can walk to Jemaa el-Fna, and I would recommend to go there by night. The area is suitable for walks alone at night. The hosts and communication were great, they will guide you to the entrance. Since it is an old original building, the walls are not sound proof. For me it was not a big problem, but you should know in advance.
- Ana.addaz (4/5): Not what we expected from previous experience - Hosts Marie and Franck are fine, they did not insist on conversation or activities which I personally perfer as we had our hoilday plans sorted.
They offer transfer from the airport for €15 which is normal rate from the airport so I would say for anyone needing to accept. Bare in mind that the riad is in the old city so you will have about a 5 minute walk to the hotel from the closest main square where taxi can stop.
Regarding the riad it is clean and it does look like the pictures with minor flaws not shown, however it is lacking on somethings.
In regards to the room it was clean I can give it that however other things about it I did not like.
Bed is ok big double bed had no issues sleeping, mattress is on the hardside but still more comfortable than others. The access to the riad is only accessible via ringing the doorbell and waiting for someone to open, although they are quick to open it was something that I personally did not like (not sure if the reason is that the entrance is share by multiple home or personal reason of the hosts).
Exterior features, rooms have windows on the inside of the riad (common in the old city) however the windows have not been updated since the building first made. There are bars on the windows so no one could enter that way which is great if wanting to leave it open however there is not a curtain that you could pull to give you some privacy, anyone that passed by the window could see in the room. Having a simple voile to pull on the window would have ment it could stay open and offer privacy.
The door was another issue for me. Although I understand its a old riad and the door style was used in the past, that was as a family home, not a hotel. The door we had was double and the one door had a small latch to lock in place and to lock your door you used a padlock. Its like a barn door lock and made so much noise opening and closing and also had a little gap when closing.
The room was boiling hot, and there is no air-conditioning, a fan is offered and appreciate, but its nowhere near as efficient.
Breakfast is simple some traditional morrocan bread, jam, a fruit (different each day), yogurt, honey, tea and coffee. Its a decent breakfast which is kind of exoected for the price you pay per night.
There is a terrace that can be used by all guests and that is where you have breakfast as well. Its fine, clean and gives a place to stay, used its a few times as always a little breeze in the evening/night. The sunbeds on the second part of the terrace looked very dirty and there was no padding or communal beach towels that could be used to put on top to use them.
- Sara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diane (10/5): Great location, great staff and super comfortable in the Medina - Franck and Mary had everything just right. So interested in guests happiness and welfare, advice at the ready, but not intrusive. Beautiful place, nothing too much trouble, central to the Medina. All the staff were wonderful Nothing
- Alexei (10/5): Arabain fary tale come to life - A beautifully and authentically decorated guest house within walking distance to all of Marrakech’s main attractions. Frank and Marie are wonderful hosts who are genuinely interested in ensuring that their guests have a memorable stay. They made our family with small children very welcome.
- Carlo (9/5): Amazing location in Marrakech. - The host are incredible. It s a family not an hotel. They care is what we perceive in every moment.
- Alba (9/5): Superb -
- Kristina (10/5): Exceptional - We talked about this with my partner - usually in a hotel, there's that little thing that bugs you even though your experience is otherwise great. Here? Nothing! We were just completely satisfied. Our room (the white one) was quiet and beautiful. The pressure in the shower is a bit weak, but it's understandable, given the way the houses of medina are built. I could wash my hair in warm water without any issue. The breakfast was delicious and different everyday. There's a nice seating place around the pool where you can read and relax. Franck was always very helpful, even giving us tips where to buy souvenirs we wanted and what price he would pay for them.
Btw I recommend that you use their taxi service from the airport - I don't think you can get a better deal with the local taxi drivers. A person from the riad will then take you from the car to the riad - because cars can't get all the way to it. I'm saying this because we've seen other tourists get lost in this area and unfortunately even ones that got scammed by the local kids, who took them to a different place and demanded money...
- John (9/5): Great staff - so helpful great Riad - Virtually everything, especially the owners and staff who were exceptional. We were cooked a superb meal. There wasn't anything to dislike! At a push I would say the low headroom entrance to the bathroom.
- Ekaterina (10/5): Exceptional - A hidden paradise in the middle of busy Marrakesh. Lovely staff and owners, yummy breakfast. Beautiful rooftop to enjoy a drink and the sunset.
- Ligija (9/5): Superb -
- Fanni (9/5): Very cosy - The owners and staff are super nice, they helped us with everything. The riad was very quiet and cosy we felt like at home. Breakfast was nice too. The rooftop area is perfect for chilling and sun bathing. The bed wasn’t very comfortable. We had no toilet in our room (only shower and hand washer), which would not necessary be a problem, but it was very cold outside in the evening and the door lock made a lot of nose so going out was a bit uncomfortable. Please bear in mind that riads usually have no proper door or window, so cold and noisy cancellation is not perfect in the rooms.
