Guest Reviews
- 915billyt (10/5): Full Experience - Absolutely Fantastic – A Perfect Hotel for Individuals and Groups Alike!
I’ve had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Guineu on multiple occasions – both as a solo visitor and as part of a large school group of 55 students and staff – and each time has been nothing short of exceptional.
From the moment you arrive, the staff welcome you with such warmth and genuine hospitality that you immediately feel at ease. Whether travelling alone or with a large group, they go above and beyond to ensure everything runs smoothly. No request is ever too much, and every need is handled with care, professionalism, and a smile.
The rooms are always clean, tidy, and spacious, providing a comfortable environment for rest after a long day. The facilities are well-maintained, and it’s clear that the hotel takes great pride in cleanliness and presentation.
The food is a particular highlight – varied, delicious, and with options to suit everyone, including our group of young students who always had something they enjoyed.
Special mention must go to Jordi and Zanti, who were simply incredible with our students. Their friendly, approachable nature and willingness to help made a huge difference, and they contributed greatly to the overall success of our stay.
Hotel Guineu is a truly welcoming, well-run, and flexible hotel, perfect for both personal travel and educational visits. I wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend it to others. A big thank you to the entire team for always making our experience so memorable!
- badi3 (10/5): Great medium size hotel, especially for groups! - Very friendly hotel close to the slopes. We came with a group of 93, school trip. We had the entire hotel to ourselves. Good breakfast buffet with full English breakfast and much more, in the evenings food that was highly appreciated by the kids and staff. Rooms al tidy, they told me this summer they will change rooms to more modern standards but like is now is is good enough for me. Staff and management very friendly and extremely helpful. Muchos gracias por todo😀
- Benjamin (8/5): Very good -
- Journey03086810332 (8/5): Good location very close to slopes, helpful and friendly staff and a very enjoyable stay - Just returned from our first visit to Pas de la casa, Andorra. We had a great time and recommend the resort and the hotel. The hotel is very well located, just a few minutes from the slopes. The staff were always friendly and helpful. We all enjoyed the food. Breakfast was very good with a good selection of both hot and cold options and lovely fresh pastries and croissants. Dinner was equally good and the hotel were very accommodating with food allergies and made sure there were vegetarian options available each night. Thank you, we will return.
- marrew2025 (6/5): Nice hotel close to ski lifts - terrible food - The hotel staff were helpful and kind. The room was good. We had half board included in the booking and unfortunately most of the food was dry and overcooked. The only thing that was eatable was the salad. A lot of the food that they served was prefabricated. They should try to find someone that knows how to cook.
- H9059XRjohanh (6/5): Nice skiing. Friendly people but terrible food. - Nice staff, good service but a little bit inexperienced. But the food was really terrible. I don’t know how it possible to fail with scrambled eggs for a week or serve totally overcooked and tasteless dinners for the whole week we visited them. The food get 1 star out of 5 and that’s being nice.
- Abdulaziz (3/5): Poor -
- Connector10346926929 (6/5): Let down by the food - First the good bits:
Great location only 50yds from the piste.
Room adequate with a comfortable bed and a small bath with a shower above it.
Enough wardrobe space and hooks near the door for damp ski gear. Well cleaned every day. Small safe.
Now the bad bits:
The food was nearly always cold. I understand there was a problem with the warming plates. By Tuesday they had run out of butter so no butter for morning toast or evening rolls. When asked the reply was ‘it’s on order’. Why (in a town full of supermarkets) wouldn’t you just pop out and get some. It turned up a few days later.
2 out of 3 of our party were very ill and while you can’t necessarily blame the hotel food cold food is an obvious place to start.
The ski lockers in the basement garage aren’t heated so boots had no chance to dry overnight. Within a few days several guests resorted to taking their boots up to their bedroom.
- Anna (8/5): Very good -
- michellebK9740AT (10/5): Amazing stay!!! - We stayed at this hotel over the Christmas period this year and were not disappointed. We had the most amazing time and would definitely re-visit again and again.
The hotel is a small, family owned place which is very close to the slopes and ski hire shop. It is incredibly clean and the staff are extremely friendly. The breakfast and dinner buffets always had a good selection of food to chose from and the three course Christmas meal was utterly delicious.
Our room was spacious enough for a weeks stay with a double bed, separate toilet and shower and double sinks in the room. We had a safe which was free to use and the room was cleaned daily. (This included clean bedding and fresh towels).
The staff and owners here really are the main reason we would happily return. They are so friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we had the best stay. I am so sad to see the previous review was so bad and can honestly say this was not the staff or the hotel owners fault.
The couple who wrote that review stayed in the hotel at the same time as us and i think it is only fair people hear the other side too. They were an extremely miserable couple and all they did was moan about everything for the entire week.
On arrival at the hotel, we were in fact asked politely by staff if we would mind swapping rooms with the couple, as they were making a scene in reception because they did not have a bath in their room. We kindly swapped rooms with them and honestly, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the room. (It just didn't have a bath). During the week, they found anything and everything they could to complain about which really is not a fair review or representation of the hotel.
I hope people see this review and plenty of other reviews that agree with it and disregard nasty people trying to give a small, family business a bad name.
- Craig (7/5): Good -
- Jeffery16 (2/5): Like a hostel but noisier!! Staff not interested - Gave us a room with no bathroom on arrival, a shower in a cupboard and sink in the bedroom. No storage or room for a week’s stay. Went to reception and was made to wait until everyone had checked in even though we were first and had been travelling 12 hours. Reception staff not interested and dismissive Food is awful. Just had tinned peaches and yogurt for dessert, which is what I had for breakfast this morning! Rice pudding or jelly were the other options….No labels on any food so most is unidentifiable. Tonight they re served last nights rice, pork and fish dishes! Opened the bedroom window for air and there were 5 people below smoking at the hotel entrance doors. Smoke quickly filled the room and was unbearable. Asked reception to assist, ie, ask people to refrain from
smoking under the bedroom window and they said: can’t do anything. Rooms are noisy with furniture scraped across the floors, can hear stomping feet, disturbs sleep. Family above had abusive row one night and kept us awake for 2 hrs. Never again!
- kerryA899 (10/5): Excellent location, food and accommodation. Super helpful staff. 5 STARS from us! - We came to ski. Our priorities were close to slopes and half board.
As previous reviews said it’s an excellent location moments from the slopes and ski hire. Perfect for our needs.
A simple clean hotel, with very helpful staff. Our room 201 consisted of a large double bed and a single. Separate shower and toilet with 2 wash hand basins in the bedroom. Enough storage and free safe. Only suggestion would be a couple of hooks to hang up damp ski jackets. We overlooked the side of the hotel and could see the chairlift from the window.
Other reviews mentioned noise but we had no issues. We had a window open at night and apart from the odd car or person walking by it was very quiet and no noise from other rooms that was in anyway intrusive.
Large powerful shower and plenty of hot water.
Rooms cleaned each day to a high standard.
The half board food was a plentiful buffet style offering. Good choices at both breakfast and dinner and some variety each night, but always a spaghetti bolognese available ! Simple wholesome food with plenty of vegetables.
You pay for water with your evening meal but free at breakfast.
Ski lockers are provided operated by a 50 cents coin. Ski boots did not really dry out but they do ask no ski boots in room. There is also underground parking which we think you need to pay for.
It’s a family owned hotel and the family eat in the main restaurant as well so always on hand. All staff were helpful, friendly and always had a smile on their faces. A very warm welcome received at this hotel.
We have no complaints and if you are looking for a clean base to ski with ample tasty food close to the slopes then we are very happy to recommend.
- radanad (10/5): Great hotel next to slopes - We stayed in this hotel as part of Crystal holidays and it was a great choice. The hotel is 1min walk to the ski slopes. We had twin room with three beds which helps to use the third bed for all our ski clothes.Room was enough specious for two and large bathroom with shower and disabled toilet( which can come handy if you'll get an injury).
We were half board, breakfast had everything you'll need and dinner too with excellent salads. Dinner starts at 7.30pm so it can be a big gap between breakfast and dinner. In the Garage are lockers for ski equipment per each room with easy walk to the slopes. The staff is amazing, from cleaners, dinning staff to receptionists and always helpful. The bar is a chill area where you can sit during the day or have a few drinks in the evening, prices very decent.
The clientelle is more mature and you don't get groups of young noise people which Pas is famous for.Our room was facing in the court and was very quiet with good night sleep.
I would definitely come back to this hotel and recommend to others.
- alicea620 (8/5): Lovely, good food and friendly staff, but Loud - Lovely hotel and perfect location for the slopes and ski rental.
Good food variety with breakfast and dinner provided.
Storage for your skis is ideally located and easy to access with a lift up to your room. The slopes are a 20 yard walk if that & conveniently located just by two great restaurants serving pancakes from 4 o’clock!
The staff are wonderful and very good with children, really patient and playful.
I needed a cup of milk for my youngest around 11 pm, the Kitchen staff were more than happy to help me even though they’ve been closed for quite awhile.
Sadly, the hotel is noisy so if you’re going with your family, please be aware of that. The streets around the hotel when the bars kick out becomes very loud between the hours of 1 am and 4 am, also if people are moving furniture above or below you, you will definitely hear it, including toilet flushing and bathwater being emptied.
If you are heavy sleeper or your children sleep deeply, I’m sure it won’t be a problem.
- Cyclist5252 (8/5): Great hotel - + less than 2 min walk to the slopes
+ spacious boot room
+ great ski hire shop very close (Duna Blanca)
+ hotel is very clean
+ good powerful showers
+ lovely staff
+ plenty of food
+ great bar/ communal area
- the street outside is very noisy, all night
- food isn't always labelled. It wasn't to my taste.
- jemlbtq (10/5): Excellent hotel, staff, location & food. Highly recommend! - Highly recommend this hotel, the location is fantastic just a short 60 second (if that) walk to the slope, or a four min walk to the lifts. The hotel is extremely clean, modern and comfortable. The room was excellent, the beds so comfortable and the pillows were super fluffy! I had brilliant nights sleep here. The shower was really powerful and always super hot. The staff are all really friendly, professional and helpful, everyone working there seemed happy to be there and couldnt do enough to help.
Could not fault the food- excellent buffets for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was wide selection of “English breakfast” as well as continental options, inc pastries and churros! Dinner was a variety from always having delicious salads on option, then meats, veg, pastas, etc. I ate well and feel the food healthy, I had lots of salad and veg, which was lovey.
Fantastic hotel, would highly recommend and will be back the next time we snowboard in Andorra!
Oh and forget 50 cent for the ski locker, or reception will give you a coin if you pay them 50c on card!
- TezWright (10/5): Great stay, 25 ms from slopes - This is a lovely hotel very close to the slopes (25m). Very clean, nice bar area. The staff are very courteous, helpful and friendly. The food was good with warm breakfast options and plenty of choice, same for the evening meal. Rooms are fairly basic but have everything required for a ski holiday and are spotlessly clean. I wouldn’t hesitate to return for another stay. They also prepared a picnic on our day of leaving so that we had food for our journey home.
- rosie061 (6/5): Location perfect. A few minor changes would elevate hotel. I'd give 3.5 if possible - Stayed as part of a group and I'd stay again but mainly due to location. Hotel is very clean throughout.
Location: Very close to slopes. Photo attached shows distance to tunnel from boot room door. Others have described the tunnel to the slopes, it is more like a corridor between buildings with benches if last minute adjustments are required. Walk through and come out on the slopes slightly above main lift area with a nice ski down. A previous review talked about a paid ski garage on the slopes. There is one but we looked at it and thought it would be less convenient than the hotel. Boot room in hotel is good with lockers for each room.
Hotel is slightly above main resort so you will have a bit of a walk on day 1, but they bring the bags to the hotel in a van so it gives a chance to look around.
Rooms: I stayed in a room which had been refurbished with very comfortable double bed, separate toilet and amazing rain shower, double sinks and good hairdryer. Towels replaced daily. But there were no hooks for skiwear or towels near shower and the storage was poor. Fixing this would be inexpensive and would enhance these rooms. Also nowhere in shower to put toiletries except floor. Others in group in similar room type said the same. Strangely twin or triple rooms have hooks.
Food: good but sometimes labelled and sometimes not. Had to ask most days as there was a vegetarian in the group (and others in different groups we spoke to). There was a range of food to eat buffet style. The dining room is a bit small for the number of tables it holds so it can feel a bit cramped when going to and from buffet. But they have done the best they could with it. Getting a drink at dinner was slow on occasion. The staff were good but needed to dedicate a person to this. They didnt really cover the bar during dinner so you couldn't go to the bar and get your own drink.
Bar: ok. There isn't a bar person. Reception also covers bar. They are back to back. But in my opinion this does not work. Often long waits for drinks even though this is where they make their money. One night about 5 groups of people were waiting and were told barperson was getting their dinner. No effort for any of the other staff to serve those waiting. There are lots of seats. A large TV which you could play music on. Board games available. They ran out of stuff including mixers and even if the delivery didn't come in they didn't go to the shop and buy it to sell.
WiFi good throughout hotel.
- paul33Preston (10/5): Fantastic family run hotel and great food - As close to ski in ski out as you can get without being next to the runs, must be about 20 meters. Rooms were spotless and very quite ( we were on the 4th floor) breakfasts outstanding with fresh hot food and cold buffet. Evening meals a chose of hot dishes and salads all very frequently refreshed. Always a hearty home made meat dish , fish option and vegetarian ( i presume !) . Most people ate at eight PM so the restaurant has a great buzz around this time. Staff very jolly and friendly. We went with Crystal Ski in January , 2 of us. Felt very local with many independent visitors from Spain and had a Spanish feel to the décor and bar
- briangU5764MA (10/5): Great hotel in a prime location - We travelled with Crystal Ski and chose this hotel as part of our package.
The hotel is a 3 minute walk to a short tunnel which accesses the side of the main piste, a little way up from the chair lifts. Skis on a ski down to the main chair lift, really convenient.
The hotel itself was very clean and the staff very friendly, the beds where very comfortable.
There are free ski lockers downstairs and a free safe in the bedroom.
There is equipment hire right next to the tunnel.
We were half board and the evening meal was excellent with plenty of choice. Breakfast was the usual standard fare.
Will be definitely staying here again next year.
- F363EBdavidp (10/5): Brilliant hotel - Absolutely nothing here not to like. Food is great, rooms are clean and looked after daily, free ski lockers downstairs, free wifi, free safe in room. Drinks in bar are all reasonably priced and large measures. Best thing of all is the hotel is 25 yards from the slopes and it is family run. They care about everything and go out of their way to help. Having been here I would not try anywhere else
- Dublin_IrelandSally (8/5): Location & excellent staff. - Stayed last week as part of a group. Breakfast good . Dinner sufficient. Good facilitates on site e.g on site ski lockers . Ski hire + slopes literally only a couple of minutes walk from front door of hotel - ideal . Shamrock bar in under the adjacent Olimpiades apart-Hotel had excellent apres ski / live music from 4.30 pm every evening . Downside of hotel is noise at night - but it appears that's Pas de la Casa ! All staff in Hotel Guineu - in particular in the bar + restaurant - EXCELLENT . We'll be back !
- dizzybirdOxfordshire (8/5): Near to piste - Stayed here as a group of six for one week January 19.
Lots of positives to this hotel, it is close to the slopes and walking distance to town centre. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and like the bar and restaurant spotlessly clean. There was always plenty of hot water to shower, and the hotel itself is lovely and warm.
The breakfast is good, unfortunately the evening meals were not, food was always lukewarm and under or over cooked .
The staff are absolutely lovely, very helpful and really make you feel welcome, real credit to the hotel.
The only negative to this hotel is the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything being said and done in the next room
