Guest Reviews
- Meizal (8/5): - Nice location and facilities Not necessarily a dislike but a suggestive recommendation to account for cultural and religious differences particularly regarding the cuisine and food. Having food options and form of preparations that account for cultural and religious differences would be a value addition to customers experience
- Anant (10/5): - Beautiful resort.. Rooms are great..facilities are amazing
Chef was really nice to make some vegetarian dishes for us..
- Nikki (6/5): Acceptable for a short stay. - The staff are very friendly and helpful, if you have a problem they do attend to it quickly. It has a lovely golf course and its very child friendly with lots of activities. We had problems with our beds in our rooms and they changed them quickly without an hassles. The food (Buffet) is really limited and very repetitive. The food is mediocre with the buffet offering's being rotated every 2nd day. Not a lot of choice and very bland. They could really work on improving the food, it is a poor reflection on the Chef. The prices for soft drinks & alcoholic beverages are exorbitant with the exception of wines being relatively priced.
The rooms are small if sharing - 2 adults, 2 children. You could easily fit in 2 x queen beds instead of 2 double beds to make it more comfortable for all a family of 4. It is advertised to share for a family of 4 so make it comfortable for the family otherwise suggest 2 rooms. Also amenities in the room are set for 2 people - if a family is checking in make sure the rooms are fitted with 4 towels, 4 glasses, 4 mugs etc.
- Sandile (9/5): Fantastic - Best staff ever, always friendly from Cleaning , Kitchen , Waitering Food
- Regan (7/5): My stay at the hotel was positive, as I prefer Sun Hotels across South Africa. - The breakfast was satisfactory. However, after staying at many Sun hotels in South Africa, I’m accustomed to receiving a cappuccino at no extra charge, and this was my first time being billed for it, which felt unusual.
The location was advantageous due to its proximity to one of the Kruger Gates. The golf course was excellent, and the 5 km running paths were well maintained. Dinner options were limited, similar to the breakfast offering.
A room configured with two double beds is not suitable for a couple.
- Marisa (10/5): Beautiful nature - Everything

- Helen (7/5): Beautiful Golf course, great buffet. Rooms are quite tired, alcohol is exorbitant - Buffet was excellent. The distance to the golf course was incorrect it is not roughly 4Km, it's walking distance and on the property. Markup on the alcohol was exorbitant. I've never paid so much for a tot of whiskey in my life.
Misrepresentation on fitness centre and pools. They did not have a fitness centre and there was only 1 swimming pool.

- Yudi (8/5): Very enjoyable family holiday - The family friendly environment. The beds were not so comfortable and at times the staff could not deal with capacity of certain areas like the pool.
- Rakau (9/5): - Great hospitality for everyone young and old Perhaps they can consider removing the carpet. Yes, they do clean them, but they are not great for sinuses. .
- Thomas (10/5): - Super Lage, tolles Personal, gutes Frühstück und Abendessen.
- Y (9/5): Perfeito - Adoramos a estadia. Soube a pouco!
Adoramos tudo. —
- Tsumbedzo (10/5): - the place is family friendly, the kids were happy. They enjoyed being around the place there was a party at their conference center. Yoh the noise between 5am and 7am because of moving furnitures we had to wake up before time

- Faisal (8/5): Good for families with young kids - Fantastic location in Hazy view with close proximity to Kruger and good breakfast plus dinner!
The hippos were a bonus! Not the resorts fault but way too many young children making it very noisy and impossible to use swimming pool throughout our stay
- Nonkululeko (8/5): - Amazing staff. Great breakfast. Loved the vibes and entertainment by the pool (shout out to Nosi!). We also love the Pizza and poolside cocktails (A+ for Agnes)! Dinner needs some work. Great layout but flavor 😑

- isdore (7/5): - Good location within walking or driving range for most amenities. The carpets in the passageway and rooms are old and had a damp smell. There is also not enough aeration in the bathrooms
- Virginia (8/5): Great location - everything clean and well run - food was good - Food , location and amenities were great Couldn’t find the resident hippos - lady told us she thought they’d moved on which was disappointing
- Craven (10/5): We loved everything about the place, good choice for the kids they enjoyed everything with the pool side activities 🥰 - Very clean enjoyed everything. Nothing
- Antonie (9/5): -
- Koos (9/5): Excellent - Very well kept property. The golf course was excellent. Food was great. Competent staff Tee off times could be better managed. Marshall on course would help.
- CAVEN (10/5): -
- caroline (10/5): - Sports facilities are well maintained and offer a lot of entertainment options for families. Beautiful property walks both in the gardens and around the golf course perimeter for good bird viewing. Fantastic variety on offer for breakfast and dinner. Staff are lovely and accommodating. Just a suggestion, not a dislike. If there are 4 people in a room - place 4 of each: bath towels, mugs, waters, etc. in the room.

- Lucia (10/5): - The place is very nice 👌 The packing is far from rooms
- Kiran (8/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away. - Amenities were top notch. Totally relaxed vibe.
- Aniket (10/5): It was a great and a comfortable stay - It is a great property..
Many activities for kids
Pickle ball and tennis courts and golf course where the highlight
- senoviac2026 (10/5): Remarkable service from Agnes the host/waitress at the restaurant - Arriving from the UK to SA for vacation, I opted to spend a few days in Hazyview to visit the Park. During my stay at Sabi River Sun, we were met with the most professional and hospitable service from Agnes. It was peak times and Agnes made a concerted effort to make us feel the festive feeling in spite of the busy restaurant. I saw this service applied to me, but also consistently to other guests too.
In spite of the busy, peak times at the restaurant, Agnes added personal touches with her bright personality and intellectual conversational skills, that made our stay there memorable. Agnes you are an incredible asset to the hospitality industry.
- Sharon (7/5): - Great facilities and location The aircon kept leaking even after they attempted to fix it. They should have moved us to a new room than letting us deal with that. That ruined our stay
- Minda (9/5): Wonderful and happy family Christmas . - The hotel and surrounds are beautiful . We spent most days at the pool where our grand kids enjoyed everything thoroughly. Because we had a child with very specific dietary needs that we arranged beforehand for, the kitchen and staff was most accommodating . Thanks a lot Chef and Bettie . The festive and Xmas atmosphere made for a fantastic week in the Lowveld The spa; ,pedicure and massages were a bit lack lacking. Maybe because the staff had to work a lot.

- Mr_MJO (8/5): Lovely Location, Friendly Staff, and a Spa You Should Definitely Skip - We travelled to Sabi River Sun for the first time during week 50 in December.
The resort’s convenient location makes it very attractive. There are lovely malls within a few kilometres, the gate to Kruger National Park is about 30 minutes away, and there is easy access to the Panorama Route.
From check-in to check-out, special mention must go to the staff. Overall, they are absolutely pleasant, friendly, and helpful. That said, the maintenance team needs to be more efficient. When we arrived at our unit (41), the Wi-Fi was not working, and it took numerous calls and a fair amount of frustration to finally have it resolved — three days later. Teens without Wi-Fi is a real problem.
The unit itself is well laid out. The air fryer and dishwasher are welcome additions, and the fan and light at the braai area show that careful consideration was given to practicality, even down to the smallest touches.
What was really impressive is that Checkers Sixty60 delivers directly to your unit. This is extremely convenient, especially considering that the small store at the resort is quite basic and expensive.
Unfortunately, we experienced a few rainy days, which meant there wasn’t much to do entertainment-wise. When the sun is out, however, the team at the main pool area does a great job — lots of fun for everyone. In the evenings, though, there is very little to do after sunset, and this is an area that could be improved. Perhaps options such as a comedy show, pop-up market, or a “movie under the stars” night could be introduced, as is done at other Southern Sun resorts like Umhlanga Sands. The resort is clearly geared toward golfers, which may be the target market, but there were also many families with younger children.
I would strongly suggest avoiding the spa and rather exploring other spa options in the area. The spa staff were quite inexperienced when it came to massages, with poor etiquette (long nails and rough hands), and the treatments felt very rushed. The owner was also rather defensive when faced with negative feedback. In hindsight, we should have taken heed of the poor reviews and gone elsewhere.
Another suggestion would be to introduce bicycle hire or make golf carts available for guests. The resort is vast and beautifully laid out, but besides walking, there are no other options for getting around. This could be challenging for families with younger children or elderly guests.
Overall, this is a lovely, well-kept, and child-friendly resort. The padel courts are a welcome addition, and the self-catering setup — combined with Checkers Sixty60 delivery — is a definite highlight. The friendly staff truly enhance the experience, and the front desk team is excellent when it comes to providing information about surrounding areas and tourist attractions. Be sure to chat with them before venturing out — they gave us great tips for the Panorama Route and were very helpful with advice for our self-drive trip into Kruger National Park.
- Mashishi (9/5): - Everything Food not satisfactory especially dinner
- Lodge (9/5): -
- Nomvula (9/5): -
- Naicker (10/5): -
- Johan (9/5): Fantastic - Location, nature, golf Perhaps it is a little bit in need of a small cosmetic touch up
- Michele (6/5): A lovely stay with our youngest grandchildren, who can't wait to get back - The staff were exceptional - friendly and very helpful.
- Jolene (8/5): Mixed experience at Sabie River Sun Resort - I loved the location — it’s beautiful and peaceful, with lovely surroundings that make for a relaxing getaway.
On the positive side, the breakfast and dinner were both good. The only minor disappointment was that noodles were served as a dinner option two nights in a row.
The children really enjoyed the pool and play area, which were definite highlights. While the facilities are old, they are well maintained overall.
With a bit more attention to cleanliness and room layout, this could easily be a great stay. However, the room setup was quite odd. There was barely any space to move the chair at the desk, and the shower in room 216 was full of black mold, which made it feel dirty and uncomfortable to use.
The staff were not always friendly, especially the cleaning staff, which made the stay feel less welcoming than expected.

- Tlhoriso (5/5): I am definitely going back to stay longer - It is inclusive and with variety of options and has healthy goodies Not able to opine
- Mabuza (2/5): It’s not worth paying so much money for - The staff is friendly and the property is beautiful It’s beautiful but the rooms are not clean, the carpet stinks and the bathroom is full of ants. The food is not nice and there’s no variety, we are forced to eat whatever is there because we already paid for the dinner and breakfast and it was so disappointing.

- Trail08860955952 (10/5): GREAT family holiday spot - This place is brilliant for families. We nailed it perfect timing over New Years, and the vibe, staff, ambience and general atmosphere was unreal.
It's really a special place if you looking for easy, simple, beautiful resort with large grounds. We loved every moment.

- kunene (8/5): - The place is a dream! Friendly staff & guests😂 believe it or not. Entertainment is 100%,its the perfect place to spend with family and just connect Their food especially the dinner meals. It was just not it shame.
- cooper (9/5): Wonderful golf and swimming stay - Everything is central and easy to get too Nothing to not like.
- Cassandra (8/5): A beautiful, clean and well run facility. - The property is beautiful and easily accessible. It is also close to a strip mall and restaurants. The breakfast and dinner is limited so it does get boring
- Nsiko (8/5): -
- Sameshini (7/5): The hotel is old and in need of renovations. I believe the Southern Sun Group should pay more attention to this property -
- Karin (9/5): -
- Suefr20 (10/5): Ideal family destination. - Always a treat for young and old. Plenty of activities snd sparkling swimming pools. Any children in the party can play and explore safely.
The chalets are wellvappointed and serviced daily. The grounds were in excellent condition making long leisurely walks a joy.
- christopher (10/5): -
- Agmat (8/5): If you're a couple looking for a quite place, then this is not the place. Many families with kids . - Breakfast was the same every morning. There was not a big selection for non meat eaters. They do not also tell you that you can order pancakes if you like. Not a large selection for non meat eaters.
- Lerato (10/5): Sabie Sun River Resort Experience - The inclusion of the breakfast and dinner. It was also well prepared.
The property facilities and the place itself was beautiful.
The chef specially preparing food for my daughter that was heartwarming.
The staff members were nice
Allocating a room low leveled since we had a baby
The porter service
The daily activities There was no onboarding on arrival as usually one is told from how the key works, wifi access, times of the food and services offered so people are aware without asking. There should also be bathtub options for people with babies as its hard to bath with them in a shower.
The allocation of the soap and shower caps need to align with the number of people in the room.
- Lindie (8/5): -
- Dirk Jan (9/5): Al met.al super hotel - Super mooie locatie om nog eens terug te komen!van alles te doen voor het gezin erg erg leuk Bediening in restaurant was erg slecht!

- kathleengD6556OV (10/5): A beautiful and relaxing resort - It was my first time at this resort although I have been going to Hazyview for over 30 years. It is a beautiful resort. It was a 2 bedroom for 6. Two bedrooms off the living room, a bedroom with two single beds upstairs. The master bedroom had a one suite bathroom, and a second bathroom between the other two rooms. The unit was spotlessly clean, and it had a well stocked kitchen. The outside space was really big, with a large table, a big barbecue area and two sun lounges. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times. We have stayed in many timeshare resorts in this area but we will definitely be back to this one. It is close to all the local tourist places, the Kruger Park only 20 minutes down the road, God’s Window, Mac Mac Fall’s, Grasscop. Sarbi, and many more places a pleasant drive away. It is very quiet, the grass cutter is out early most mornings but to keep the resort in the excellent condition it is in takes a lot of maintenance. If you have never visited this resort it is well worth a visit.
- Muller (9/5): Great family holiday. - Enjoyed the variety of activities available at the resort. Exceptional setting and well maintained grounds. The meals offered a good variety. The service was slow. The pizzas were burnt. The oats one morning was burnt and not replaced. The puddings were poor. Lots of dried out cake.
The children activities were dismal. The program sounded promising but was poorly executed.
- Lona (8/5): It was a great break and lovely to restarted so many years. - We loved returning to the place after 42 years. Many changes to see. We were first here on honeymoon in 1983. The food was wonderful! Nothing
