BSchraeder (10/5): Great place to stay in SLO! - The La Quinte by Wyndham San Luis Obispo (SLO) is the perfect place to stay if you are looking for an accomodation in this town. Situated at the principal street, Monterey street, one can visit the city center right on foot. Great car park behind the hotel, too. The (complementary) breakfast was OK/good, so was the gym. Latter actually, was really nice! My room was spacious and very clean, liked it! Staff at the reception has also been very helpful, supportlive and friendly throughout my short stay👍 Overall, thank you so much!

Downtown San Luis Obispo is just a 20-minute walk, and there’s a bus stop right across the street for an easy ride when you’ve already logged enough miles for the day. If your timing lines up, don’t skip the Thursday night Farmers Market — one of the best on the Central Coast. Think fresh-shucked oysters, smoky BBQ, live music filling the street, and farm stands overflowing with local produce. A quintessential California stop you won’t forget. The breakfast falls short for the price and location. The selection covers the basics — waffles, standard continental items — but feels pre-packaged and processed rather than fresh. San Luis Obispo is prime California wine and agricultural country, yet that’s not reflected on the plate. How about live cooking stations and locally sourced ingredients or items. A few regional touches would make all the difference — and could turn breakfast into a real highlight of the stay.

Lowenstein (8/5): Convenient, clean, close to campus. - Clean, close to campus. Staff was friendly. Beds were comfortable. Rooftop pool and hot tub have great views. The bathroom does not have any towel racks, and there’s no enough space for toiletries on the sink or underneath it. Lighting in the room is either LED or fluorescent and depressing. Paying an additional $15/day for parking was a surprise that I hadn’t seen when I booked the room.

We also liked the rooftop spa area for the view and hot tub only, not the actual pool. The only negative thing is the size of the pool. It was more like a big child’s wading pool. I think the hotel description should be more accurate in detailing that you would not be able to swim laps in this pool.

Pet friendly :) - Breakfast was a FULL buffet of hotel fare - scrambled eggs and meats, pancake and waffles w/both machines attended to by staff on busy mornings, good coffee and juices, more. Nice pool and hot tub on top 4th floor. All rooms had hard floors and were pet friendly. Staff were happy and helpful during a very busy Sunday night/Monday morning. Great location for visiting CP students, wish we'd tried it sooner. Needed a larger pet potty area, but maybe we just didn't find it on our short stay. Pets are welcome but not sure where you were supposed to walk them beyond one silly small patch of turf near garage drive way. Hot tub could be open later than 10 pm.

monami2019 (4/5): Parking is not free - My stay started off with the unpleasant surprise that there is a fee for parking at the location. This is a ridiculous charge considering that SLO is a small town and feels like a money grab at the expense of the guest. The location was a long way from downtown, the room was small and cramped which for 210 dollars a night was not a good value. The hotel was loud with a lot of ambient hall and room noise from all sides and at all hours of the night. The front desk associate did not make eye contact and did not seem welcoming and kept referring to me as "My friend" especially after giving me the surprise that there would be a parking fee. The only hotel staff that made eye contact and seemed interested in making my stay a good one were the Hispanic support staff who always greeted me with a smile and asked if they could assist me with any needs I might have. Even though I've been a long standing member of Wyndham resorts I felt that I wasn't valued as a repeat customer in this location. Because of the front desk and management staff looking through me with a tolerant air instead of being welcoming and engaged with me the hotel and Wyndham corporation failed to adequately appreciate me as a repeat customer. With the exception of the Hispanic support staff I was basically ignored throughout my stay. The only thing that was a positive about this location was the breakfast which was well above average. Wyndham was always my go-to accommodations both in the US and abroad until they started to value corporate policies over customer service. Their locations which were always well kept and clean have now become a mishmash of the good, the bad, and the ugly. The last experience I had with the La Quinta hotel in Central Point Oregon was an awful experience of bullet holes in the ceiling of the room mixed with people in the parking lot using IV drugs and camping out on the property to the point where I didn't feel safe taking my dog out at night to take care of his business. When I complained to Wyndham corporate I was referred to the location owner who refunded me 10 percent and told me to shove off. When I went back to corporate I got the shrug and "Oh well. There's nothing we can do" routine. It left such a bad taste in my mouth I booked my vacation to Mexico with the competition. This stay was my first since that experience and given the negative nature of my stay I won't be booking with Wyndham again.

The dorms were shutting down at Cal poly so we had to get her to a hotel to recover for a few days and ensure she wasn’t flying. The staff at the La Quinta Inn were amazing. When she called to see if they had any masks that she could wear to get breakfast, they brought her masks, cough drops, tea, offered to bring her breakfast in the mornings and go to the pharmacy for her. The staff were amazing! this is what customer service is all about. We’ve stayed there twice before and this just confirms La Quinta will be our hotel of choice during my daughter‘s time at Cal poly!

michaeltE7200DS (6/5): Modern Stay, Mixed Service Experience - We stayed here on 12/27–12/28. The property feels very new, and the room was clean and well maintained. Check-in took longer than expected, though the front desk staff member was friendly and personable. After settling in, we noticed the heater wasn’t working. We contacted the front desk and were told the staff member would check with a coworker, but there was no immediate solution. After following up, we requested blankets as a temporary measure. Later, we were informed that another room was available and being checked to ensure the heat worked. Before a move was needed, the heater in our original room began working nearly an hour after the issue was first reported. Later that night, I requested a late checkout, which was granted. Given the inconvenience with the heating issue, it would have been appreciated if this had been proactively offered. Overall, the hotel is clean and modern, but clearer communication and more proactive service would have improved the experience.
Manjusha (10/5): I would highly recommend La Quinta - We had a pleasant stay in La Quinta, SLO. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We even extended by our stay by one more day cause of bad weather and the reception carried forward our request seamlessly. The location was perfect. The breakfast and service was amazing as well. I highly recommended this place and would love to visit them again !

Parking fee seemed unreasonable due to vast availability of parking spots on site, hotel up the street did not charge for parking 2. Television service lackluster/ limited programming, plus no handy operating instructions for remote. Worthless. 3. Lamp between beds broken. 4. Desk staff aloof and not personable 5. Noise from upstairs very loud and loud dog barking on our floor 6. Overpriced for small room size

patty (8/5): Modern, new, spacious.. got a good night's sleep. - The room was large, clean and well appointed Parking was challenging. If you are traveling with a pet, as we did.. it was a long way up to the room and the pet area.. for relief.. out doors was very small.
Mark (3/5): Bad - Don't ever stay at a pet friendly hotel. They were barking all night long. And we were on the third floor you could hear people walking above us all through the night. Didn't get one win of sleep in two days! People brought all their animals I was not aware. Walking them down the hallways it was ridiculous. My sister called the lobby to complain about the dog barking next-door and the person at the front desk blamed her. Not a good experience at all

Julia (5/5): I would staging due to location and would be great if all of the amenities were available. - Good location and friendly staff The pool was closed for resurfacing and I had switched to a suite with a balcony for an added fee. The balcony was unusable and closed for construction. Shouldn’t advertise that upgrade if it’s not actually available.

Linda (1/5): Horrible Stay - Issue #1 - the pool was closed, yet I didn't find out until I arrived at the hotel after booking through a 3rd party. I was provided a slight discount, which was appreciated. Issue #2 - very loud construction noise began at 8:55am (very vey loud) - I was told that it was work on the pool, a pool we could not use and which was part of the reason we booked in the first place. Issue #3 - my Amex card was not only charged the $50 incidental, but also the full amount of the room ($228) despite me paying separately though a 3rd party (essentially charging me double for one night stay which was a miserable stay due to noise, etc). The manager said the two charges would fall off, but I should never have been charged the $228 as a "hold". All in all I will never stay here again.

Jamie (4/5): - I was looking forward to staying in this hotel due to some of the amenities like the pool and hot tub. I received multiple notifications prior to my arrival regarding various things at the hotel. When I arrive at the front desk work, by the way was extremely rude, let me know that the pool is closed and I should’ve received notification about it. As soon as I expressed my disappointment, he responded. Will you be the fee. Not an apology, nothing. I will never stay at this hotel again. I immediately contacted. Expedia was gracious enough to contact the hotel and they didn’t eat Grampy a zero cancellation fee. Immediately got back on Expedia and embassy down the street and we had an amazing weekend. It’s really very unfortunate at this hotel from the pictures looks very nice but their customer service is horrible.

Kelly (4/5): - The bath had mild on the grout and light switch’s were dirty. The door leading from the parking lot into the hotel rooms was propped open on several occasions even though there was a sign that clearly stated it was to remain closed at all times. Also the hallway lighting was on a timer so it was very dark until you entered the hallway. It was very creepy and a safety concern for two lady travelers. The elevator at the end of the dark hallway did not require a key card to enter so anyone coming in the open door could enter and get to the upper floors where the rooms are located. I will not return.

Melissa (5/5): Good lotion, disappointed in the facilities - Location was good, hotel is new and restaurant next door looked decent. The pool was being fixed, which in theory is fine but some notice would have been ideal as i stayed with a toddler who was excited to use it. And it was one of the reasons i booked this hotel - no “gift” was offered either from the front desk, just a sign. Also the room smelled like sewerage every time the water was running, shower/sink and toilet.

Room was spacious, bed was comfortable and room was also updated. Location is super convenient location to Cal Poly and an easy walk to Higuera Street. Loved the convenient EV charging in the covered parking structure.
Kimberly (8/5): - We were in SLO for 4 days to attend a wedding. The wedding was at the Madonna Inn, but we chose to stay downtown. The La Quinta was in a convenient location for dining and shopping. We enjoyed our stay.
