The hotel was clean, the staff were all very friendly and the breakfast was great! The dinner menu was also amazing! Sonia and Joao always made us feel so welcome and helped us with anything we needed. Definitely recommend staying here !

- krystal (10/5): - This was a great option for us! It was far away enough from tourists but still gave us plenty of options of things to do and an amazing view. The restaurant was good and convenient, albeit a little on the expensive side, but that’s the price of convenience. The housekeeper was incredible! Our room was spotless and all supplies were restocked each day when we came home from our tours. Breakfast starts at 8:30am and most of the tours start at either 8:30 or 9, so it’s a bit tight but you have a refrigerator and a microwave and oven in your room, so you’re set as long as you hit up a supermarket. The hair dryer was great. The beds were comfy enough. You have Ubers and public transit right there since it’s such a popular location for the gondolas and the tropical garden. I loved it! There’s a ton of walking opportunities and it’s sooo safe. I would take my kids out to walk uphill every night if they were crazy. Overall great pick for families who stay active.

It's clean, beautiful, convenient, and the staff is friendly, professional, and helpful. Separate shout out to the superb restaurant, especially the breakfast. I've never seen so much delicious food, served for breakfast, that is included in the price. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.

- Fay (10/5): - I didn't realise when booking but this hotel is in the most perfect location. Within a very short walk there are 2 fantastic cable cars, one takes you down into Funchal the other down the mountainside to a botanical garden. Around the corner you can get a toboggan 2km down the hill towards Funchal which was great fun! Again a 2 minute walk to a really stunning botanical garden and palace. For 6 euros you can get a return service bus up into the mountains for some incredible walks/views. The staff were so welcoming and helpful, we arrived late and they made us food, packed us a picnic breakfast to take up the mountain and were always on hand to answer any questions and check we were happy. I cannot recommend this place enough, it was absolutely fantastic!

Great staff, overall lovely stay and would stay again. One caveat, if you are planning on having a car, make sure you are comfortable driving VERY narrow, steep and winding roads.
- Emily (8/5): - The hotel is very clean and in a beautiful location, the room was a good size. The food was not really to our liking but there are plenty of other restaurants in Funchal. I would not recommend hiring a car if you are a nervous driver, the roads are very narrow and steep! I was disappointed by the service I received by the staff at Our Madeira who own the hotel, but the staff at the hotel itself I could not fault. Additional touches like more toiletries and comfortable pillows would make this a 5 star. We stayed in apartment 1B which I would avoid if you are a light sleeper as the hotel is right above you and can be noisy.
- Anna (10/5): Lovely boutique hotel with stunning views - This is a beautiful little hotel with very kind staff. The breakfast is delicious and varied day to day. The room was spacious and well-appointed. The location is peaceful with lovely views, walking distance to the (must-see) botanical garden, and to a funicular that can take you downtown. But especially given that the funicular is pricey, the downside is having to drive up and down the hill to Funchal. Thus, we loved combining a few days at Babosas with a stay down toward the water.

- Wendy Carol (10/5): - From the gorgeous views to the attention to details for breakfast we were blown away. Babosas was perfect for our first international stay. Everyone treated us so special and we felt valued at every turn. Our villa was quint and clean and we enjoyed it so much! I would give it a 10 out of 10 and recommend it to anyone who is traveling to Funchal. It is located in a great spot close to the cable cars and Monte Palace ❤️❤️🌸🌸 our stay could not have gone any better!
- Zika (10/5): Lovely boutique hotel on excellent location - Very good communication prior to arrival, clear instructions. The hotel is well located in Monte area, next to the cable car and Monte Tropical Garden. Room was spacious, comfy, well maintained. Breakfast was excellent with repeating but wide choice of good quality food. The restaurant itself is excellent, we dined a few times, perfect seafood, big portions at fair prices. The staff was more than friendly and accommodating - to mention just a few - Sonia, Hugo. Strongly recommended, would definitely go back again
- Sheri (6/5): - Wait staff and housekeeping were attentive/kind & the room was generally clean & nice, however it had a distinctly unpleasant smell. (My son thought it smelled like cat pee; I thought it was mildew.) While staff we met face-to-face were nice, the management company was oddly antagonistic; almost passive aggressive. Also, for a few days of our stay, the hotel was in a cloud/deep fog, whereas down in Funchal, it was generally sunny. A waiter said this was common. TBH - not great value for money.
- Dr (10/5): Lovely small hotel perched above Funchal. - A lovely small hotel situated above Funchal near the main cable car station. The views over Funchal to the sea are very special. Exceptionally friendly, kind and helpful staff. The breakfast is generous and varied. We had a comfortable and well equipped suite which had its own small balcony and a patio shared with a neighbouring suite. There is a useful inexpensive bus #22 that runs from outside the hotel into Funchal. There are a couple of things to be aware of. 1. The hotel is up on the hillside - if the cloud is low, you may be in it. 2. Madeiran roads can be narrow and winding with steep gradients. This includes the route to the hotel. The property sends helpful directions but take it slowly when you approach for the first time. It becomes much easier when you get used to it. I would happily stay at Babosas Village again.

- isabelle (10/5): Super hôtel et super séjour - Nous avons passé 2 semaines à l’hôtel Babosas et tout était parfait : l’emplacement de l’hôtel a qq minutes de Funchal et à côté du magnifique jardin de Monte, la petite taille de l’hotel, l’acceuil, les incroyables petits déjeuners et la gentillesse de tout le personnel. On avait l’impression d’etre dans une pension de famille. Merci pour tout, on a hâte de revenir à Madère et à l’hotel Babosas pour quelques jours
- Christine (10/5): Brilliant Stay - The hotel is very clean, & the apartment was spacious with everything we needed. The view was lovely, we enjoyed watching the cable cars going up & down. The maid even put away our washing up that we had left to dry! Unfortunately we could only have the amazing breakfast once, as it didnt start until 8.30am, when we had trips booked for the day. Our only negative comments are the bed was firmer than we are used to, & there was a slight smell in the room, which an air freshener was doing it's best to hide.

We had a lot of laughs with them and they made us feel like royalty! The food from the restaurant was incredible, the best breakfast overlooking the island. Of note was the excellent staff, all of whom were exceptionally friendly and made every effort to meet our expectations. The room was very clean and the bedding was extremely comfortable along with luxurious bathroom linens not found in many hotels. We are already planning our dates for our 2024 Madeira holiday and will be returning to Babosas. Thank you to all the staff and management there!

- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful place, Amazing staff - We had the suite which was huge and very well equipped. The whole place was spotless and cleaned daily and all the staff we met were so helpful and friendly. The breakfast is huge and delicious and the restaurant is great for dinner too. The cable car is less than a minute walk and goes right to the seafront and the hotel is on a little square just across from a kiosk selling beer, coffee and cakes with awesome views over the valley. For the money I doubt you'd find better in all of Madeira. 2.5 days was not enough time on this beautiful island and at such a lovely hotel. Book it now, book the suite. You definitely will not regret it. I can't wait to go back. Thank you Babosas Village for such a lovely stay :)

- Jane (10/5): Excellence personified! - Positive reviews from previous guests led us to book this hotel, however, no one could have prepared us for the excellence of our stay. This team is second to none in every department. The rooms are delightful, the food delicious and the staff the best we have ever encountered. To be able to sit in the patio on a sunny morning sampling the wonderful breakfasts was heavenly. Nothing was too much for the staff who looked after us as though we were family. Our room was super-clean and well-equipped and was visited each day by the house-keepers. The hotel is perfectly situated for visits to both of the island's major gardens as well as the cable car and the famous sledges. There is a levada walk on the doorstep. A regular bus service to the town leaves from the door. Being 550m above sea level it is cooler than Funchal but this is a bonus when it gets hot. Our thanks go to Ricardo and his team for a memorable stay. We hope to return to enjoy the warmth of the both the sun and the wonderful people of Madeira.

There are many hairpin curves. If u don't rent a car there is a bus, number 22; last trip going up is at 11:30 pm

- NADIA (10/5): Un séjour inoubliable au Babosas Village - Une arrivée tardive que les agents d'Hotels.com et notre hôte ont parfaitement accompagné ! nous avons séjourné en famille à Babosas Village et autant dire immédiatement que nous y avons trouvé tous les ingrédients d'un séjour parfait ! La situation sur les hauteur et à 6 km du centre de Funchal mais à 2 pas du Jardin Tropical, du téléphérique pour le jardin botanique, et des "paniers en osiers" de Monte, est idéale. Les appartements sont spacieux, propres, bien agencés avec goût et calmes. La vue sur la baie de Funchal agréable...Que dire ensuite du petit déjeuner gargantuesque et varié servi avec bienveillance attention et sourire. Que dire de l'accueil de Ricardo qui rendra votre séjour fantastique du début à la fin mais également de tous les autres employés qui se démènent au quotidien pour vous apporter un service irréprochable et personnalisé. Vous n'êtes pas traité tel un client impersonnel mais comme un invité. Le rapport qualité prix est imbattable, vous pourrez au choix prendre un verre sur la terrasse et continuer au moins une fois par un repas au restaurant de l'hôtel qui sert à prix doux les spécialités de Madère cette ile qui vous enchantera et vous procurera des souvenirs inoubliables.

- Darren (10/5): Outstanding Food - Food, hospitality and service was outstanding, and even if you are unable to stay here it is worth the ride on busses 20, 21 or 22 from Funchal just for the amazing food. If you are staying overnight then you are in for a treat with a wonderful breakfast that will last you the full day. The only downside which the hotel can not avoid are the barking dogs and noisy cockerals.

It is easy to access the capital, Funchal, using cabins or buses, so it is a perfect location. The hotel is very clean and provides you great hospitality. The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly, providing a five star quality service. Great staff! The breakfast of hotel is amazing-a range of different types of food, fresh and very tasty and vary every morning. We also had dinner at the restaurant of the hotel. They serve very high quality food beautifully presented. Overall, our experience was awesome. Every aspect of our stay exceeded our expectations. I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone-couples and families.
- richard r. (10/5): BEATUFIL STAY AT BABOSAS VILLAGE - We stayed 3 days 2 nights in this beautifully located hotel. We were greeted by very helpful and friendly staff. The view from our room was beautiful. We were pleasantly surprised that the hotel was near 4 tourism attractions. The breakfast by far is the best we've had in the 9 months we've been in Portugal and the staff is very friendly. We highly recommend the stay in this lovely hotel...perfect location, warm and friendly staff, lovely rooms, and fantastic breakfast! We will stay here again when we're back visiting this majestic island!!

The food was delicious, great price.The breakfast was very rich with fruites, deli, jam, coffee, tea, milk, and cake. We also had the option to take our meal in the room. Very convenient.

- Julie (10/5): - The property is in a good location in Monte right at the cable car ride and the botanical gardens. There is also a bus stop right outside with a regular service into Funchal centre. The apartment is spacious, modern and spotless. The bed was a superking and very comfartable. The staff are really helpful and friendly. The restaurant is good we had pizzas on the first night and the local beers are nice and cheap. We had an awesome time in Maderia and would definitely go back, highlights were the botanical garfens, riding on a bus to Santana, north of the island. Eating out in old town Funchal and the near by fishing village Camara da Lobos. Not to mention the wicker tobagan ride, which is good fun. I would love to visit Maderia again and would highly recommended Babosas Villiage.

- JACQUELINE (10/5): - My husband and I recently returned from our trip to Madeira and had an exceptional experience at Babosa Village. Our original accommodations were cancelled due to COVID and we found this beautiful place on Expedia, and we could not have been more satisfied. This is a magical place up on the hillside with amazing views and great location near the cable car into the city. The room was beautiful and spacious with a full kitchen. The food in the restaurant was wonderful and some of the best we had anywhere on the island. Above all, the staff was the most welcoming, gracious and accommodating people we have ever had the pleasure of meeting while on vacation. I highly recommend this beautiful property and look forward to visiting again! If your looking for a quiet, small hotel nestled between the botanical gardens on the hillside, this place is ideal!

Very good family apartment with full equipment. This is quiet place at height, next to cable car with nice views, driving up and down might be challenging.
