Guest Reviews
- Oliver (8/5): - The Bar in the middle is great, but also really loud if u wanna fall asleep at 2 am on a Friday
- Eva (6/5): - Location is fantastic, walking distance to the centre and surrounded by restaurants and bars. However, breakfast was very poor, the room did not have proper hot water for showering and finally the rooms are located around a bar that stays open until 2am, so if you wish to go sleeping before that time you will need to bear the noise. Overall, I found the property overpriced for the actual offer and facilities.
- Adrian (10/5): - Nice property, comfortable, clean, there's a bar where you can get food and drink. Only thing I'd say is close the windows or the mosquitoes will get in
- mattiacelotto (6/5): Good place but wouldn't come back - Hostel is nice, with a good common space outside and i found the staff very available.
However rooms aren't very clean and AC isn't perfectly wotking and mostly important the rooms are facing the common garden so privacy is very limited plus music until after midnight makes it almozt impossible to sleep before or also during the afternoon.
- Jairo (10/5): - Perfect location. Plenty of bars, restaurants, coffee shops around. Safe, hip and yet stylish. Will definitely stay again.
- Arthur (10/5): - Good place
- Julian Aczayacatl (8/5): - Good
- Selene (8/5): - We stayed in a private bedroom and it was pretty good. The room is small but has a lot of storage space. The room was basic but clean. The location of this property is the big plus, we were able to walk everywhere. One thing to note, it is loud. The rooms are facing the bar/patio area and it does get loud. They were hosting a private event, a wedding, the first night we got there so it was even louder than normal. We had read about it and were prepared with earplugs, which solved the issue. I’d definitely recommend to bring earplugs for your stay. Other than that, this property is a good option.
- Beatriz (4/5): - Inconvenience location of the rooms. Extremely noisy. Room did not have TV and are very small. You have to ask them to clean it otherwise they do not do it.
- Angela (2/5): - First of all, this is not a hotel. It is a hostel. There is little to no customer service. Most of the property is outdoors with very little to no security. None of this was evident in the Expedia listing. That said, I reserved a standard twin room for one night. I appreciated the 15 minute early check-in which was made to feel like an inconvenience even though we waited over an hour as advised by staff. I was given a dorm style room with two sets of bunk beds. It also a handicapped accessible room. There was no furniture, one towel per guest (two of us), and a paper towel and toilet paper dispenser in the bathroom. We had quite a tight schedule and as there was a wedding on the property that night, there was no other accommodation available. So we had to take it to make our prescheduled tour. As for the wedding, we were not told about that until we arrived. The issue with this is the rooms surround the outdoor event space. So essentially we had to walk through the event to get to our room. We were stopped several times to confirm we were hotel guests. In addition, we were told once we were brought to our room that the wedding would go until 2am (!) and there would be music. So essentially upon returning at 10:30, our room shook with the bass from the speakers. Thank goodness for EarPods! Staff was condescending or just dismissive. I would not recommend.
- Sally (10/5): - Great atmosphere and amazing rooms.
- Lillian (4/5): - Rooms were extremely damp. Noise level was very high until midnight. They forgot to clean our room. Another day maid service did not appear until about 4:00pm
- Halbert (10/5): - Wonderful staff and service here. And any recommendations for the things actually worth seeing and doing in the area were always spot on.
I went with a solo room option, and highly recommend it.
- Dave (6/5): - Noise
- Juan (10/5): - I only stayed for one night but it was an excellent stay. They were very friendly and everything lived up to the expectations.
- Francis M (10/5): - They had activities and a bar for the guests. Everyone was friendly. The dorm rooms were quiet, insulated from the sounds outside and had air conditioning.
- Mark (10/5): Backpacker Hostel - Nice place with good vibes.
- MONICA (2/5): - Staff were very kind and welcome to their young guest and digital nomad market . There were other couples in their 60s around and I heard a guy staff referring them as the old couple !!!! They were friendly but not really . They like to create a culture of young cool and trendy around and promote the pub night for those
I am 50 and I wasn’t even invited to the welcome drink which is rigid at 6 pm afternoon
I was in a female room of 8 girls fir one washroom and shower which is crazy tight in the mornings. I would not waste my money here as you are only paying to look cool around their hip interior design. I had to switch beds and misplace my Europe electricity convertible and the staff was never able to help me or find it for me.
- Chris (10/5): - Great location
- V8334YFmonicar (6/5): Nice beds, cool common patio but…. - Welcome drink is not flexible as they only give you the drink at 6 pm sharp
No laundry washing machine available
Beds are clean
Dorms have 8 beds for 1 washroom ratio only inside room
Cleaning should happen twice a day as they get used a lot
Breakfast is not included and you need to spend 12 euro
- Kevin (10/5): - Amazing location and great private room! Will definitely be back!
- Sakshi (10/5): - It was a good stay
- Hafsa (10/5): - Selina Porto was centrally located and it was easy to access all of the top spots in Porto from here. The layout is somewhat troubling because it is difficult for guests to rest while the restaurant is full. However, this was not too much of a burden.
- Malene (6/5): - Nice staf but hotel in the mittle of nowwhere
- noice from fhe highway
- Morgan (8/5): - Super cool hostel and more than just a hostel! Had lovely welcome drinks and so many optional excursions you can book with them if you want. Really great for solo travelling or traveling with people. They had a bar there and restaurant with lovely outside sitting area. Really nicely decorated and the rooms had good comfortable beds and curtains for privacy. The only downside is the bathrooms didn’t get serviced and we ran out of toilet paper a lot (8 bed dorm). Other than that it was awesome! They also let me leave my luggage there free of charge on the day I checked out so I could keep exploring longer. The hostel is good walking distance form the train station and the metro from the airport.
- Shakira (8/5): 1 day and night in Porto - This was such a cute hotel. Very well decorated and clean and comfortable. We were aboe to check-in early so we were super grateful for that. Location was great as well. I would love to stay here again if ever back in Porto
- Enrique (10/5): - Good vibes and pretty atmosphere
- Lisa (4/5): - staff was helpful. my view out the only window was a cement wall after waiting for room to be cleaned that i had booked two days prior?? all rooms surround a HUGE all hours of the night party courtyard… no sleep. sorry millennials. it’s just not for everyone
- Stephanie (8/5): - The staffs were helpful. Having the garden accessible was really nice and cozy.
- Beth (10/5): - Centrally located but still quiet. Hip, modern design. Amazing staff!
- Julianna (10/5): - Super cool property! Would definitely stay here again.
- Paulina (10/5): - Very affordable, clean, good area close to many landmarks and subway.
- gabrielepP9156QG (6/5): Average - Love Selina vibes, although not worth the price.
Rooms are quite clean but I had some visitors in my room - ants 🐜.
Also in the evening is super loudly so for people who are travelling for work, think if it’s for you.
Also, not so much of privacy because of the windows.
- Marilise (6/5): - A really underwhelming hostel. The mattresses are squeaky and old. There are no lockers for personal belongings in larger dorm rooms. The bathrooms have no privacy in co-ed rooms. The lights don’t work. The outlets charge at a snail pace. They charge 2eur for use of a towel. It’s loud, very loud.
- Sammy (6/5): - This is a hostel. Did not know before booking this place. Expedia should specify that this is a HOSTEL. I would have never booked this if I knew it was a hostel. The bed was broken and super loud every time I moved. Heater did not work and it was so loud as if the windows were open. No insulation at all. And the bathroom was dirty. Bed was dirty as if they did not change the bedsheets. Had to ask for extra flat sheets to put on top. Room was cute and spacious, but wish it was cleaner and the heater worked and there was some way to make the room less noisy. Great location though.
- Necole (8/5): - Overall this place was amazing—location, staff friendliness, great garden bar out back, etc. The only issue was cleanliness—the shelves in my bunk were dirty with some sticky liquid and the bathroom felt kinda gross all the time. Other than that, I’d stay here again and again.
- Juan Ramon (8/5): - It was good, friendly staff very convenient
- KMMMOB (6/5): Good Hostel - Had a super short stay at Selina, just the one night in a 4-Bed Ensuite Dorm. Checkin went well and reception showed me to the room, which was just off the courtyard. The dorm had one wall of glass, there were curtains but they blocked the door from opening which was a bit awkward trying to get into the room if others are sleeping.
Room, bed, ensuite were all great - Bed was super comfy with its own curtain and light. The room had spacious lockers, remember your own lock. The next morning, before checkout time, the cleaner came in to clean the room and ensuite, which I found odd as there were 3 of us still sleeping!
- Aurelie (6/5): - Great breakfast options
- Samantha (6/5): - I booked Selina for my stay in Portugal because I was so impressed with the Panamá locations. But Porto was just meh.
Pros: location was great and walkable. Lots of great restaurants nearby. Laundromat nearby. Nice to have a cafe/bar right in Selina. The common areas look hip and trendy. Room had lots of storage. Staff were fine. Nothing was dirty.
Cons: We booked a “large double” and paid $100 more just to find out it’s the same thing as a standard double, so don’t waste your money “upgrading”. If there was a difference, it certainly wasn’t noticeable and staff told us they didn’t have a “large double” other than suites. The cleaning staff don’t come unless you put out your sign, but two of our five days they didn’t come anyway, so we had to request it from front desk staff the third day. The room has a wall that’s just a window which looks nice in pictures but really has no use in practice since you’ll always want it closed for privacy. Despite staying in January and having barely any other guests around, there must be a nightclub nearby because it was still very loud at night. Can’t imagine how loud it would’ve been if there was nice enough weather for the bar on the Selina patio to be operating. Worst part was that there was no hot water for our last two days which made showers painful.
Price was similar to hotels- I will probably just stay at a hotel next time.
- gregorn790 (2/5): scammers. - I visited the bar in Selina Porto with a friend for an after dinner glass of wine. We live in Porto but it was obvious that the waiter thought we were tourists because he totally tried to rip us off. We ordered two glasses of wine and the total came to 18 euro. As a local, that's ridiculous!!! The waiter didn't bring us a menu or a bill and crumpled up the receipt as soon as the machine issued it. I called him back to the table and asked how much it was per glass as I thought it was pretty pricey, even for a tourist trap. He immediately fessed up and gave me 4 euro back in cash. I still don't know how much a glass of wine is there but even at 7 euro each, it's waaayyyyy over priced.
- Irene (10/5): - Un hotel muy tranquilo. Bonito y comodo. Una atencion a customer service excelente
- Vikash (4/5): - Very loud music from courtyard until late at night (past 1am on a Thursday) - made sleeping impossible
- Young (6/5): - Staffs seemed disorganized
- Gary (8/5): - Well designed
- dany (8/5): - The hotel is cool and well animated as well as the area but is a bit noisy until the hotel bar closes at 1:00 am
- NetoAlmanza (2/5): Improve check in - I have never in my life waited so long to get checked in.
I havent even gotten my room and I’m giving it 1 star.
There is a line of 7 people waiting and its taken over 30 minutes. 3 staff, 2 computers. They are too slow here.
- lexi1959 (2/5): Terrible /appalling - Make sure you DO NOT book here disgusting service
Room stinks and curtains full of holes
Like being in a box
Curtains have to be closed at all times for privacy
Do not go please
Ps
Noice is unbearable!!!!!!
- Gabrielle (10/5): - Everything was perfect.
- lejettes (2/5): Terrible! - There is a large communal area and the bedrooms are arranged around this. It was necessary to pull the curtains across the windows to avoid people looking into the room. In summer breakfast is served in this area and if it has rained the furniture can be wet. The loud music starts at about mid day and continues until midnight, so no having an afternoon rest in your room or an early night. On our last night the music continued until 12 30am and my husband complained and the music was stopped. Staff told him that a lot of people had complained but that there was not much they could do and that we should contact the management! Maybe they will read this!
- Adelfa (8/5): - Walkable as long your healthy. Is a lot of up and down the road. Just like San Francisco.
Is not good for people’s got condition. This hostel is good for young generation. I can’t claim upper bed. I can’t get up easy on lower. Too close to the floor.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Disappointing - Overall a disappointing experience and private rooms are expensive for what they are. I'll start with the positive - the hotel has nice deco, room cleaning was good, and is close to a lot of cafes, restaurants and bars.
Stayed in Selina Porto for 4 nights. I booked a private room given I would be working remotely for 2 of those days. These are the items that made the stay unpleasant:
1. There was a strong and pungent smell coming from the drains in the bathroom - was a little gross to sit there in that smell.
2. The French doors that opened to the shared terrace space didn't close properly at the bottom. There was an actual gap between the door and the frame and no amount of pushing would close it. Spoke to the people in the room next door who had the same issue. It made you feel uneasy given there was no safe for valuables (e.g. work laptop) and also let a lot of noise from the streets in at night. It's in a busy bar and restaurant area so a lot of noise at night.
3. The a/c wasn't strong enough to cool the room. I literally spent both days sweating while working.
4. The staff were rude and unfriendly in all interactions.
Wouldn't stay again and wouldn't recommend. The price does not align to the offering and service.
- Soha (8/5): Recommended to visit - I like the place and its friendly environment. It is very close to all the best attractions in Porto and walking around is very easy and safe. Employees are respectful, friendly and very attentive. The garden is great for friends to mingle and chat.
- LondonLizzle (4/5): If you want sleep this is not the place for you….deluxe rooms - We booked the deluxe room which is cute and clean and well decorated.
Breakfast - poor for pt
No irons
No fridges
Aircon useless
Cant have the windows open because of the noise I’m talking drunk people shouting conversations from 9pm - 3/4am.
Ear plugs useless.
2 hour window for sleep before the workers of Porto start their day.
Will need a break to get over the break! I could cry I just wanted someone rest.
- Bjarne (10/5): Alt var godt. 👍 - Dejligt og hyggeligt sted, glade, hjælpsomme og smilende personale. 👍
God og billig mad.
Vi lommer helt sikkert igen.
- Juan (6/5): Dirty panties everywhere in the room - The hotel is really cool very modern. The staff was beyond friendly and helpful. Location is great. My issue is with the room.
I share a room three girls and another guy and I always have the same experience. This is the fourth time this happens to me women leave their dirty panties in the door knob. There was another dirty panty in the only sink to brush my teeth which I had to use the shower, and there was an old dirty pansy in, the bra in the hangers where we were supposed to hang the towels not to talk about all the long hair in the shower and in the sink beyond disgusting it’s always the same issue when there’s more women in the room then guys I never see guys on the where around or anything is really interesting how this ladies Are a little more disorganized
- talyac128 (2/5): Just book someplace else where you money is actually valued. - Sadly,
I really planned to leave a 5 star review,
But keep reading till the end to understand my low star reason , unfortunately I left Selina with a very bitter feeling :
I stayed a total of 5 days at Selina Porto ,
Most of the nights in dorms and the last night in a private room.
Up until the private room,
everything was absolutely excellent!
The room quality is perfect, big lockers with a place for a lock to put on them , curtains and private lamp for each bed , a shelf , couple of outlets you can charge both your phone and earphones if you need ,
Clean and organized high quality dorms I would recommend for anyone !
The service of the staff was fabulous! Each one of them was welcoming and so nice and that really made me feel like home.
The derives Selina offer such as organized tours are so comfortable to book , the pub crawls were super nice to meet new people in the hostel, the welcome drink ,
The yin yoga lesson and the yoga teacher was absolutely perfect!
The common kitchen is super useful,
And the whole place is just amazing.
The reason of my 1 star is : after a couple of nights in dorms I booked a night in a private room, to get some privacy, quite time, to recharge.
In the morning someone started banging with a hammer on the walls and drilling in the walls. It was literally against the walls next to my head , then spreading to the rest of the walls around .
I could not sleep like I planned.
More than that, the outlets, all of them- were not working in the morning.
The worked a night before but in the morning just nothing .
So my phone could not be charged, my power bank for my ride to Lisbon was not charged, my earphones, and I planned to use the blow dryer- which was also, not working.
It was a hell of a way to wake up in the morning for drilling sounds and not- working outlets, but I figured- the lovely staff would Definitely help , I mean- I paid more money on a private which was so much more worse than the dorms.
I went to the reception, told the lady their what happened, and she said she can not do anything about the noise because it is from outside of Selina building.
I mean- I understand that of course, but I would give some sort of compensation for this matter, it was ridiculously loud against the walls, So I am surprised Selina- which is the highest quality place there is, giving people rooms knowing their are people drilling against the walls, this is very disappointing and surprising , I felt like I totally waisted my money for nothing.
About the outlets that were not working- she said she is sorry for it, but nothing she can do about it.
She as a person was lovely I have to say !- I am sure Selina Porto know about the noise problem, she did Not look surprised at all whatsoever, but I was really surprised that she just finished it with “sorry”, leaving me with a feeling they don’t really care about me not sleeping well, not having my phone charged for my ride , and not being able to dry my hair like I wished for.
Again, up until this moment- everything was lovely,
However-
if you wish to book a private room , for you, or as a couple,
Be smart and book it someplace else,
Where the owners really care about the quality of service they provide for their guests,
And your whole experience.
- isabellasA1184EF (2/5): Poor customer service, Incorrect charges - This is such a shame that I have to write a poor review for Selina (Porto). I booked a reservation in May for a trip with a friend and we stayed for two nights. The issues began before we arrived at the hostel. When I went to complete the reservation my credit card declined for suspected fraud. The customer service representative Lauren Nijland reached out to me via email to inform me that the payment had declined and the reservation would be forfeited if I did not submit a valid payment to a specified link that she provided. I did not view the email until I had already repeated the transaction to which the was payment successfully processed. I responded to her email explaining the issue and asked her to verify if the payment was successful on their end for the repeated transaction. She responded and informed me that the payment was successful.
Here is where the issue is, they went back in to their system and manually added the declined amount to the booking that was successfully processed. When I emailed her again with the situation she was rather unhelpful and stopped responding to my emails. I'm disappointed in the poor customer service and the lack of professionalism in Selina Porto. I have never experienced a company that has manually gone into their system and incorrectly manipulated charged amounts on declined transactions. I am still in the process of disputing the transaction.
- Daniel (2/5): - They say put your name on your food but do not provide a delible ink pin to write on your food. They say to label your food but do not say they will toss away your food and medicine leaving you with nothing to eat and no medicine and I am 70 years old. Truly bad experience to have the hostel toss 150.00 worth of food and medicine just because it was Monday morning. Please boycott this hostel until I am refunded 150.00. Thankyou Daniel
- David (10/5): - A lovely place in a vibrant part of the city. Lots of good food nearby and interesting bars in the area. Handy for Trindade. A pleasant walk to the waterfront, but not so close as to be troubled by day tripping tourists.
- Gaynor (10/5): Something for everyone - Booked to start & finish our small Camino trip. Fabulous stay, so very comfortable, a really interesting vibe which seemed to suit all age groups. Lots of activities happening. Appeared to be an event to welcome a young crowd to the city tonight as well as some kind of lecture for another crowd. Bars buzzing, food delicious
- Eric (8/5): - Noisy
- Ronald (6/5): - When I made my reservation, I wasn’t aware that Selina Porto is mostly a hostel that caters to people who work remotely while traveling. It attracts a very young crowd (as opposed to me, 70 ). Still, I mostly enjoyed my stay.
The room is unusual in several respects. There is no telephone in the room and no television. However, there is a phonograph record player with records and a refrigerator. We found the bed to be quite comfortable and the shower to be excellent. (There was no tub, which is fine for us.) The room isn’t serviced daily, but they will provide towels etc. upon request.
Our room faced the courtyard which tended to be loud with music and conversation and whatever. The activity continued well into the night, but it didn’t really bother us much since we’re sound sleepers.
They offered a free walking tour of Porto and that turned out to be quite nice. They also had yoga classes and other activities but I don’t know much about those. There is a communal kitchen and also some small private rooms to use for Zoom calls back to the office.
There are some good restaurants within walking distance. There is a food truck at the hotel but we didn’t try that.
All of the staff we met were exceptionally friendly and helpful. All and all, this was a very unusual experience for us, but it worked out pretty well. I don’t think I would return here, but I’m glad I tried this kind of accommodation once. It was an interesting experience.
- Shayne (10/5): - Excellent facilities, atmosphere, and staff. Loft room was lovely. We had a great time.
- James (10/5): - Ideally situated. Great restaurants. All the cool stuff was close by. Amazing culture in the common area. Tons of fun and met friendly people. Loved the walking tour.
- MISS E (10/5): Amazing - Loved the room, really spacious, clean, great area and very safe if travelling alone.
- Humberto (10/5): - Awesome location and friendly staff.
- John (10/5): - Great accommodations walkable to everything.
- Katya (10/5): - Will be back
- Philippa (10/5): Loved it - Great hostel in a great location, great bar/food and plenty of other good food options around nearby too
- Eddy (8/5): - Nice rooms, central in town.Breakfirst dont do it only 2 choices .Very loud terras in the middle of the rooms. For young people its oke , a bit older get an other hotel. With kids not suited i think.
- Cristiane (8/5): Good for a short time - The staff was very friendly and fair value.
- Alfred yaniv or (10/5): Amazing - It was amazing...very clean...nice people...ther is a good resturant in the hotel...its was very nice to stay in selina hotel tnx
- kok ann (10/5): - Strategic location. Nice environment
- Kyle (10/5): - The people and atmosphere was wonderful. I had such a good time. If you like meeting strangers and having drinks with good music, this is your place. Not for people that want quiet evenings.
- Ruth (8/5): - Friendliness of staff , eco friendly , convenient location
- PatyG (8/5): - Great location with all necessary services and reasonable prices. Good services. Great place for millenials. A little noisy at night. Problems with WiFi.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was a big property with many options, form, muxrd, or private rooms. Lots of places to sit and socialize, very communal . it was a very clean place to be at.
- Across (10/5): - Loved everything. Best hostal ive ever been. Unique, different in every way. Not a building. Its a park with all the attraction near by. Best place to stay
- Gjllo (10/5): - Good please, good vibe, near of all atractions. A
- Verified traveler (10/5): Most wonderful stay! - Selina was absolutely amazing both in Porto and Villa Nova de milfontes.
I'll make sure to check them out wherever I travel in the world from now on.
The decor and style makes it so cosy and chic at the same time. The activities offered are great, food delicious and shampoo and conditioner was my favorites part ;) (where is it from btw?)
- Verified traveler (8/5): Trendy, mixed guests, young vibe - Nice hostel. Attracted a wide range of people, including families who could stay in private rooms. Hostel has nice social areas which were handy especially as the rain was heavy at check out time! Didn't have a problem with noise but stayed on the other side of the garden so not as close to the main bar. There were various events on but did not take advantage of these as was out sightseeing.
- Anthony (4/5): - My air conditioner did not work for 3 days. I went to the desk to tell them and they didn’t do anything about it. They claimed to try to help but didn’t. It was very hot and they didn’t care
- Cassaundra (10/5): Great Spot! - Check in was a little chaotic. They could use some additional staff, and a bigger reception area. They were constantly being interrupted and guests had no boundaries walking behind the desk and cutting in line. OMG! But after that, it all got better. The staff was VeRY friendly and informative. The atmosphere was very peaceful, and easy access to main attractions. I enjoyed my overall stay, and wish I could have stayed longer.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Really enjoyed the ambiance and variety. Being both a hostel and a hotel, there was a very fun mix of people there due to the ability and commitment to accommodate a fairly wide range of consumer's needs and economic resources. The weekend events in the courtyard were vibrant, fun, and well attended. Noise level was a little high late into the night, but this was not the case during the week. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly.
- Tanmay (10/5): Best Hostel Till Date - The place is new and I stayed at the Hostel in the premises. The rooms are very clean and the service is immaculate.
Very helpful staff and it’s easily one of the nicest places to chill when you’re not out exploring the city.
It’s got a lovely garden/sitting area where you can chill and have a few drinks. The cocktails are really good.
Slightly higher priced, but it’s easily the best hostel I’ve been to. If you’re looking to stay in a hostel and have a great time I would totally recommend this. My stay has been very comfortable and I’m loving my time here.
They have a pub crawl for 10€ which starts at 11pm and goes on up until 3am or so. They’ve got various activities at the hostel too which you can sign up for. Regularly. DJ nights, yoga, workshops and all that. Really good place to visit if you’re looking for a comfortable stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I loved the open it courtyard! The vibe was amazing and the music with the bar, it’s such a welcoming setting for travelers. The staff are awesome, everything about it is perfect whether you’re a solo traveler or in a group! So much fun!
- URMILA (8/5): Quite happening place to stay and good location - It was very happening place to stay, the staffs are very friendly.
:)
- Verified traveler (8/5): - great place for a younge travellers. unfortunately we are not ones.
- Selamawit T. (10/5): Interesting Hostel in Porto - It is a very nice hostel in terms of ambiance and facility. It is also located in a central area where most of the touristic places are within walking distance. One thing that people should be mindful of is that it is not good for someone who like to have a good sleep as there is a big outdoor space where the music is blaring next to your room. One other thing I did not like is the guy on the reception desk at the time of my check out did not remind me to take my deposit, but I don't know for sure if it is intentional. So if this repeats then there is a problem. Other than that I like my stay in Selina. Interesting place.
- Kathryn (8/5): - This is a great hotel with wonderful customer service in a fun part of Porto! The accomodation is very comfortable and clean and modern. HOWEVER, we stayed there on a Friday night and our room looked out on the garden and they had a VERY LOUD band playing. The noise level was as if we were on the stage - that's how loud it was. The loudspeakers were on until 10:30, when they were turned off but the amps were on and the band played until about 12:15 midnight. If you like that kind of thing, then this is the place for you. If you don't want to party until midnight, I would recommend you stay somewhere else on Friday night.
- James (8/5): Great Place! - We arrived at the hotel around 11am and although Check In wasn't open until 3pm the very friendly and helpful staff allowed us to check in early as the room was ready. The room itself wasn't the biggest but enough space for 4 of us with bags. The shower was the best I've had in a hotel for a long time. The beds could maybe do with an upgrade but they are up to standard. The location is quite central located up in the hills of Porto just a short 5 minute walk to Sao Bento and then another 5 down to the Ribeira. The bar at the hotel was superb with a wide variety and good price. I would definitely consider staying here if I returned to Porto
- Angele (10/5): Best hostel ever - Wow - the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in. Super clean and modern, extremely comfortable bed with lots of extra perks like privacy curtains,a fluffy duvet and two plugs and lights in bed.
Amazing beer garden.
Tip: no kitchen or fridge available and bring your own towel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I loved that there are a lot of common places the spaces are clean and the staff is very friendly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything Perfect nice Hotel and Location i recommend this Hotel
- Danny Chan (8/5): Great location and best bang for your bucks - Easy to access and very friendly receptionists. You are allowed to leave your bags with them before check-in time and roam around. There are plenty of eateries around and a mini-market not too far away - but it closes early. The common area looks great and I was awed by the open space. The room and the toilet/bathroom is clean, no problem operating anything there. It has a bar and provide breakfast service if you do not want to go out of the premise. If you did not bring your own towel you will have to rent one for 3EURO which I thought is a tad expensive. In overall, this place is great and would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Everything was fine, exacept for the room’s heating unit that would only blow cold air. We were given additional blankets because the hotel staff could not make the unit to work.
