Guest Reviews
- Ronald John (8/5): - Very clean grounds. All utilities AC etc worked well. Great area to springboard up to the Dells/ Lake Wisconsin and wine/ distillery region
- Richard L (6/5): Over Priced - Room was very dark - only 2 dim lamps between the beds, and a dim hanging light which took awhile to even find its in-the-cord switch. Coffee stirers were not wraped sanitary - only laying on a tray. No breakfast of any kind. Basically overpriced for the amenities offered.
- Colleen (10/5): - There was no hair dryer. Lighting in bathroom is very poor for putting on makeup, as well as the bedroom. Off the highway, so was quite.
- Julie (10/5): - This little hotel is just a nice clean place to land and easy access to the surrounding communities. Just outside the fray of the city. Everything was super clean and a nice cold refrigerator with a freezer.
- Marcel (8/5): - Very clean room with new flooring. Only complaint was a bit of an odor - may have been partially due to high humidity at the time of stay.
- Carter (6/5): You get what you pay for. - The room was extremely dark; and it was too hot to open the blinds. The owners were okay, but not very friendly. Seeing them walking around and saying 'hi', they would ignore you.
- Kevin (8/5): - A cute motel having more modern features. Property is a bit rundown however
- Edward (10/5): - A very nice motel. I appreciate the fact that they are pet friendly.
The lawn area around the motel is large. You can give your dog a nice walk about.
- Mary (2/5): - Couch and shower curtain smelled of cigarettes. Air conditioner smelled of mildew. Had to ask for soap. Tilted shelf in bathroom so stuff rolled off. Manager oddly rude and abrasive when asked for help.
- Michael (10/5): - N/a
- Verified traveler (6/5): It's OK - Concrete box motel. Clean but hard surfaces. All tile floors.
- ROBERT (10/5): -
- Stephanie (10/5): - Never had any problems with this motel. The rooms are always clean and the staff is very friendly and welcoming.
- Dawn (10/5): Clean & Comfy - We only spent one night on our way to Illinois from Wisconsin. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The owner was also very friendly and helpful with local recommendations. We would definitely stay again when traveling, especially at the reasonable price!
- Ruth (10/5): Motel stay - Room clean, reception very friendly and professional. Very helpful, when I locked myself out of room.
But it need an ice machine.
- Curtis (10/5): - Nicely remodeled older motel. Clean and quiet.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Satisfactory room - The room was clean . The bed was not comfortable The room was easy to get to from car
- Verified traveler (10/5): Most Positive Response from a host ever - The only problem I had was the 1st room I was given had a very fragrant deodorizer in it. I thought that it was probably just leftover fragrance from cleaning supplies, but after an hour or so, it was obvious it wasn't fading and my scent/chemical allergy was really kicking in. I contacted our host and explained the situation. She immediately came to our room with a key to the room next door, which was scent free. No hesitation, no questions asked. Within 30 minutes my symptoms were gone. I know if I hadn't let her know the situation and had tried sticking out for the night I would have ended up in the hospital again with severe asthma attack.
- Michael P. (10/5): - One night solo stay there while passing through town. I love these somewhat rural motels with your motorcycle right outside the door. And the property is well-lighted and huge. Very pleasant woman in the office, clean spacious room, with an actual 3-cup coffee pot. Bonus: a plastic card with all the TV channels, something that very few of the big chains provide. I had a wonderful stay, thank you, Sky View, I will be back.
- Susan L (8/5): - Room was spacious and clean, beds comfortable. Has outdoor seating options and grills. Located at edge of town. Doesn't have hotel amenities like coffee anytime, pool, etc.
- Steve (8/5): - The person checking us in was very kind and helpful. Assisted us in finding a room for another traveling with us. Gave a lot of information on places to go and how to get there
- Christopher (10/5): - Wonderful older but really well kept up and clean. Owner extremely nice and outgoing. Good location with easy access to the city. Enjoyed our stay very much.
- Robert (10/5): - Not a five star lodging but very reasonably priced and quiet. Beds were comfortable and the large screen TV had tons of channels. Would definitely return.
- Janet (10/5): A very nice stay! - We needed a pet friendly stay for the night, we had been here years ago for a wedding in the area. It is a small motel, quaint, quiet and clean. A lot of lawn area front and back for the dogs to roam with us. Close to Baraboo, Wisconsin Dells and Sauk City.
- Michelle (10/5): - Loved the location. Close but not in the dells. 2nd time staying here and just as nice as the 1st time. Great green space for our dog and staff was friendly and gave us great advice for stargazing! Quiet and relaxing. Will be back next year!
- Debbie (10/5): Safe, clean, and conveniently located - The owner/manager team are very friendly and the outside grounds are clean and well kept. The room was clean and had a refrigerator and microwave which came in handy, there is a picnic area with grills and a sitting area outside of the room.
- Bradley (8/5): - Very nicely updated... great value!
- William (6/5): - The ac was so loud i couldn’t sleep
- susan (8/5): - Please turn fridge and air on before guests arrive. I needed the fridge to be running as i had food to keep cold and i needed an ice pack for an injury
- Mike (8/5): - Bed was not a queen as advertised. Bathroom was really spacious and clea .
- Brenda (8/5): - We only stayed one night but it was perfect for our needs. Room was very clean! Bed was comfortable. Outside esthetics would be better if the weeds were sprayed. Would stay here again!
- Peggie (10/5): - Spacious clean rooms. Quiet and easy parking.
- Trevor (10/5): - I was very impressed. I fly a jet out of the small airport at Sauk Prairie. Had a very early morning flight. I live 2 hour drive away. I was pleasantly surprised at the nice room. Everything seemed new. Quiet. Peaceful and slept well. Comfortable pillows and nice bathroom. Highly recommend this motel.
- Stephen (8/5): - TV reception frequently interrupted. Otherwise, no issues.
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptionally clean rooms - Stayed 1 night & we were amazed at the clean rooms, patio, everything! Very nice owners!
- Wenzel (8/5): Budget trip - Short drive away from the Madison metro. Very quiet and very clean.
Pricing was within budget compared to all of Madison being high priced due to UW commencement.
- Madeline (10/5): - The very quiet, nice place to stay. Recently been remodeled. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff was polite and accommodating.
- Tina (8/5): - Check in was a bit timely but friendly encounter. perfect for what we needed
- Stephanie (10/5): - The staff is always so friendly. This is our second year staying here for the dance competition at the Sauk Prairie River Arts Center. The rooms are always clean.
- Jon (4/5): - The property totes as pet friendly but will not allow pet in room in a kennel while I had surgery across the street. Was not stated in their bio. Had no ironing board or hair dryer. Sheets on the beds had pilling and felt like sleeping on sand. Clerk was not friendly at all. Would not recommend staying here as a family. Really is a limited facility.
- Joanna E (8/5): - Staff was kind and helpfull
- Jon (10/5): - Clean room, Friendly staff. Always love a place where you can park your vehicle in front of your room door!
- John Douglas (10/5): Good - Nice motel. Quiet and well off the road. Sort of Mom and Pop motel out of the last century (or millenium). Very simple but very clean, good beds, everything in good condition. Bathroom recently redone. Friendly management. Would stay again. Good value.
- Julie (10/5): - This is a quiet quaint motel with super clean rooms. The location was perfect for the Cowchip Festival!.
- John (10/5): - Very clean and quiet
- Mark (8/5): Nice place - Great place other than the thin bath towels
- Lesvia (8/5): - Bad smell in the room
- Tim (10/5): Basic, no frills gem! - This place is just a great place if you need a place to sleep. Nice and clean, extremely quiet. No frills which is exactly what I didn't want to pay for. Would definitely come back again!
- MARLENE (10/5): - Very clean and simple room for a reasonable price.
- James (10/5): - Little older property, but was still in decent shape. I would have no problem staying here again.
- Jessica (2/5): - DO NOT stay here! From the moment we checked in the manager was rude (when asking a clarifying question he turned aggressive)
and then within ten minutes of being there we witnessed him harassing and threatening another guest twice. At this point I requested a refund as we were only there 10 minutes and I felt very unsafe and threatened by this man.
He refused to provide a refund, we ended up booking at Madison Marriott West, which the staff is fabulous, they welcome dogs with no question, it's way nicer and cheaper!
The owner can deny this review but we have a police report to prove the events that happened.
- Rebecca (8/5): - Great price and convenient to the River Arts Center. Room lighting could have been better.
- Stephanie (10/5): - The staff was really friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and neat. I would stay here again.
- gabriella (8/5): - Nice safe area to walk dogs!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Dirty AND Rude - The room I was in bore zero resemblance to the pictures posted on hotels.com. It was not clean - lots of air freshener instead. 1980s bed spreads I was afraid to touch. Sheets seemed clean fortunately. We were coming into town for a family funeral so had necessarily booked last minute. I called ahead to let them know we would be checking in late, coming from out of state, and the grumpy dude who answered the phone said check in ended at 8 (!?!?) and then he HUNG UP on me. So I spent the rest of the trip worried there wouldn’t be a room for us when we got there, at a time I really didn’t need that extra stress. Fortunately we called when we got there and someone did come and check us in.
- Jennifer (10/5): - I loved the fact that there was a fridge, FREEZER, and microwave. There's also a coffee pot with a bag of grounds if you wish! Free Wi-Fi and actual TV channels to watch without charge.
- Kim (8/5): - My room was very clean.
- Beatrice (8/5): It was great UNTIL... - We were in town for a funeral. Overall, I would say that our stay was good. Until the grounds keeper, must have hit a rock mowing the lawn and cracked my driver's door window. We didn't see it until we left to go to the funeral home there was a chip and a crack about 3 inches long coming from it on the driver's side window. The crack has continued to grow.
- Melissa (6/5): - Old school motel with some nice updates. All outlets were overloaded due to the fact there were only 2 outlets in the room and 1 of them only had I gang working. My sister who was also staying was told she could only stay1 of the 2 nights she booked due to an error. Luckily my wife and I had 2 beds, so she could spend the second night in our room. She was also scolded by the manager for taking up 2 spaces which was silly since the have no lines on their parking lot. She parked directly in front of her room. Overall I would not stay again.
- Mark (8/5): - The room was clean and the staff was helpful. It was a good value and a nice place to stay.
- Lisa (8/5): - This is a simple, no-frills place, but the rooms are clean and reasonably comfortable.
- Janet (6/5): - It seemed a little tired
- Dustine (10/5): - Really cozy and comfy for my one night out of town visit. Definitely would stay here again!!
- Karen (8/5): - The stay was good.
- Jim (6/5): - The size of the room and bathroom are bigger than normal. The room and bathroom were clean. Manager on duty was not very friendly and actually reprimanded me through the screen window. He was upset that we had the window open to air the room out whilst the AC was running. We had been in the room for all of 5 minutes. It was a bit unsettling.
- Lindsey (2/5): - Do NOT stay at this property unless absolutely necessary like we needed to. The room/location was nice…not worth the price but about $100 cheaper than the Dells which was a plus. The guy at the front desk was one of the rudest people I had ever met. We weren’t not going to be able to check in until later at night due to traveling out of state so I called during the day to see what time someone would be there until, he let me know 10pm (which is deceiving because Expedia shows a 24 hour front desk). We arrive at the motel at 9:30 to check in, and at the time of booking I booked 2 rooms. One for myself, one for my mom and stepdad. While we were checking in I asked him if the rooms were together to which he responded “well it’s a little late for that.” We later find out that even though we paid for 2 double bed rooms, 1 of them only had 1 bed in them because “that was all they had” and when I asked if they could alter the price for the 1 room, his response was “I just work here” and let us know there was nothing he could do about a price adjustment and then refused to give me the manager and owners contact information. After that, he decided to come to our room to ask how many people were in our room because their policy is they charge an extra $25 a person per room, which is also not listed on Expedia. The price of the room also doesn’t change when you alter the number of guests on the website either, be prepared for extra charges.
- Kelly (8/5): - I really want to give the Skyview Motel a five star rating, but I just couldn’t quite do it. If you want just a bed and a shower and have brought all of your own things, this is a great place. It was very clean. No one pounded on my door in the middle of the night and I wasn’t locked into my room for an hour, and I do appreciate that (long story). I would recommend highly with those caveats.
- Ramona (8/5): - Our room was very clean, and comfortable for a small hotel. The only issue was the air conditioner. It was very loud
- Margaret (10/5): Clean and comfortable - Stayed Friday and Saturday night. It was reasonably priced and only 20 min from Devils Lake State Park. Very clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay again.
- Terilee (10/5): - Great little hotel with friendly staff. Just the basics…but they were clean!!
- Catherine (2/5): - My stay had been nothing but a nightmare. We stayed at a pet friendly motel that turned out to not be pet friendly at all. As soon as we got there I mentioned that we had pets so that I could pay the fee and the manager immediately started yelling at me stating that he had to put me in a room that does not allow pets and this was somehow my fault. There was no option upon booking to state that we had pets. The room was dirty and there were half filled used bottles of shampoo and conditioner left from the last guest. The hotel manager harassed and chased us multiple times. We were getting yelled at for things such as small as parking our vehicle where the bumper was apparently too close to the sidewalk . The entire weekend we were being bothered by this manager who was continually yelling at us for nothing and could not seem to leave us alone. At one point he threaten to have our dogs taken away from us because we left them in the motel room to get gas from across the street. There was never any mention that you could not leave your pets or we would not have done so . Two of the animals that came with us were trained service dogs and this hotel decided to charge us for them which is illegal. The Owner of the hotel initially was apologetic that the manager was harassing us and then she began threatening to add more charges to my credit card. I’ve never received any type of receipt. DO NOT STAY HERE FOR YOUR HEALTH AND SAFETY.
- MARILYN (8/5): Old-fashioned Motel with Nice Updates - Found this motel one week prior to our stay on Hotel.com. Registration was easy. I printed out the confirmation and the woman assisting us at check-in had us all set in a couple minutes. This motel is the old-fashioned park in front. Our room had been completely remodeled including shower/tub, sink, toilet, etc. We enjoyed a quiet night. There was no breakfast offered, not even coffee, but we knew that as we checked in. A 4-cup coffeemaker in the room worked fine. Fridge and microwave did too. Would stay again.
- bruce (10/5): Nice place to stay. - Stayed for two nights, Room was very clean and comfortable. Host was not the most friendly, but very accommodating, and professional. This was a great place to stay, convenient, great value, and very clean.
- Rebecca (8/5): -
the property was out of the way and quiet.
- Cynthia (10/5): - Its a good option for around this area. Pretty clean.
- Ashley (6/5): - My biggest issue was the swarm of ants in the bathroom. Also, there was a slot machine outside my room, which luckily no one played in the middle of the night, but I can imagine that happens sometimes.
Overall, this place did the job and was cheap. The internet was surprisingly fast. Gets the job done if you need a warm bed.
- william (4/5): - The price we signed up for online was not correct. They charged more when we checked in. We found empty candy wrappers in the room, the dish network tv is a struggle to get working.
Their is no dresser, no closet to hang clothes, no iron and iron board to pres clothes, and no washer/dryer for customers.
We saw no cleaning person nor rubbish bin, as we ended up buying our own toilet paper and small 13 gal rubbish bags at a store and dumping the rubbish bags at the gas stations garbage bins.
This motel is more suited to a one night stay, two at the most.
Also unlike most hotels the rooms are all ground level with tables and chairs right outside the room, so don't be surprised when a bunch of people gather out their and start drinking and talking loud.
- Paul (8/5): - Plenty of outdoor seating for hanging out at in the evening.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The stay was nice and the staff does an excellent job accommodating your needs. Thank you.
- Randy (10/5): - I always try to stay at this motel when in town only complaint heater didn't work to well.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Easy to find. Clean, but no amenities. Nothing of interest nearby. Wouldn’t stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Parking near room was not always possible and some others took more than one spot when they parked. Which is rude. Other than that, things were good. We were visiting family that is in assisted living in Prairie Du Sac. Very convenient.
- Cheryl (8/5): - A nice little room for a decent price included mini fridge and microwave. My only criticism is that the beds were not very comfortable. Not a big deal for one night but kind of tough for longer...
- Jeffry (10/5): Excellent choice - I have been a regular at the Skyview Motel in February for several years. The owners are great, very friendly and just really nice. The room and service is great. I will return again for sure.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A good value for the price. Great location! TV, refrig and microwave were very convenient.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean quiet room. Friendly staff big tv and comfortable beds
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Quiet, well-maintained, spacious. Big, good tv (no channel guide though, except on tv itself). Fridge had large freezer, microwave also provided. Friendly reception. Nearby Quik-trip. Vwry nice Mom-and Pop motel. Would have appreciated breakfast though! (Coffee maker also in room). Price was right. Would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The "old school" feel and charm of the Skyview Motel was really cool. Exceptionally clean and well maintained.
