Air con works great.
Staff were all friendly. The rooms are very dated and worn - this did not affect my stay at all, but this place isn’t for you if you want something modern or nice looking.

Bar/restaurant with loud music until late at night made sleeping impossible. We had to ask three times to owners to turn volume down. Avoid.
- Gabby (7/5): Good - Good location not too far to walk to the beach or the station. Quiet and clean .
- Susanne (4/5): Disappointing - Stairs...tiny room.
- Brendan (10/5): This Hotel is 1st Class for the Mobile Traveller @ a great price - I found the Owner to be extremely Hospitable & Accommodating. The Room was Spotless & I had a Wonderful Sleep dreaming of good things ! There was actually zero / nothing / not anything I didn’t like!

- Alex (7/5): Cosy but simple hotel at top location with great staff - Very friendly and supportive staff, beautifull location close to the beach and relatively easy parking Public, along the street, metered). renewed bathroom, new window Very old interior of the room. Chair only suitable to put things on but not to sit so doing some work in the room was a no go. No elevator, so with a big suitcase could have been annoying.
- Kay (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mary (3/5): Poor -
- David (6/5): Good location, too expensive for what was offered. - location. staff were very nice Too expensive for what was offered. The room air on did not work well. it was a constant battle to turn on and turn off the air on at night. the towels were hard. Cheap plastic disposable cups instead of glasses by the bed
- Ali (7/5): Good -
- Monica (7/5): Enjoyed our stay as Beaulieu-sur-Mer is a lovely village and felt very welcomed as it’s a smaller, boutique hotel. Howe - Rooms were very clean which is the most important thing for me. The location was good, about five to ten minute walk from ocean front. Easy free street parking which is free overnight. Owner was extremely helpful and very nice. Rooms could do with updating. Few things in room weren’t working which owner immediately acknowledged as he was very helpful, but as we were only there overnight, he didn’t get a chance to fix it.
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Verified traveler (8/5): Wunderschön in BEAUlieu!
- Leonid (10/5): - Small and simple room, but for solo traveller who does not stay inside much it was good. Conveniently located, about 10 min walk to the seashore. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Par contre, télé très petite (en fait, vu le temps nous ne l'avons pas utilisé) ; Eclairage sur 10 ampoules, seules 3 ampoules en état de marche. bonne literie;
- Bradley (10/5): A pleasant week in April. - Marcellin is friendly, comfortable, convenient, clean and, thankfully, quiet! My first time to the Med and I picked a good town between Nice and Monaco. One price for all bus journeys with very good service. Fabulous circular walk around Cap Ferrat from the town and can take in Villa Rothschild & Gardens. Went to the Monte Carlo Masters tennis; would love to have stayed for the Beaulieu tournament at their excellent club.
- Victor (10/5): Superb! - The room was very comfortable, very well furnished and fitted out. If you are thinking of booking, don't hesitate because you will not be disappointed.
- arianne04 (8/5): clean place and good value for money - Summer in the Cote de Azur can be very expensive. This is a nice alternative that is quite affordable and clean. Staff is welcoming and nice. There are quite a bit of stairs and no elevator so keep that in mind. Also breakfast is 8 euros a person and doesn't include much. Bed isn't fantastic but not bad. Very clean and a cute building.
- Rebelgraduate (8/5): Summer visit - This is a cute hotel, and the people who run it are very nice. It's close to the beach and the train station. I found the bed to be pretty uncomfortable, but it was fine for a few nights while I was in town for a wedding. It was also nice to have a fridge in the room.
- Hajni88 (8/5): 3- night-stay - This hotel looks old fashion, but the room was tidy and clean. The receptionist is very nice and helpful. There was a small fridge and aircondition in the room which are very useful. The price of the room is good in this area.
- IrinaKuznetsova2013 (10/5): Very nice hotel - The location is just great - very close to the train station, the bust stop, the market and the supermarket and the sea. The street is very quiet. The hotel is ran by the couple which welcome the guests. The rooms do not have the safe which is minus. Everything the rest is just great.
- _davidius61 (8/5): Great value in delightful Beaulieu. - This was our third visit over several years. We booked direct with the hotel and Mr Albert responded quickly and efficiently to our requests. He and his wife are delightful hosts and we combined French and English when talking with them. Nothing is too much trouble.
This is a traditional hotel which has been modernised and decorated tastefully.
Breakfast can be taken in the hall downstairs--a traditional one of croissant, rolls, juice and beverage. If you prefer there are several other places within a few minutes walk for breakfast. We enjoyed it in the hotel.
There is no hotel parking but the street now has meters and, with a maximum of around 8 euros for 24 hours, we found a place and left the car there throughout. The parking machines are complicated in the rather unnecessary French way but Mr Albert will give you a quick tutorial. The station is a few minutes walk away and you can get frequent local services to all the nearby Riviera resorts, including Monte Carlo, Menton, Villefranche Sur Mer, and Nice. Less than 10 minutes gets you to the promenade and beach. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in this tranquil little resort, all within easy walking distance.
We would certainly stay again.
- steakeaterireland (8/5): Excellent budget choice in Beaulieu - This is a great budget place to stay in Beaulieu. Great location, few minutes walk to the train station, right beside bus stops that will bring you to Monaco or Nice. Small walk down to the sea and the lovely harbour restaurants.
- WorldTraveller0870 (8/5): Charming Hotel in Beautiful Beaulieu - I have stayed at the Marcellin annually for several years, certainly Beaulieu's best small hotel. Rooms are comfortable, air conditioned and quiet. The owners have been consistently welcoming, helpful and accommodating with check-in times and last minute changes of plan. An excellent location, close to the sea, public transport and to the centre and main square of what is one of the Cote D'Azur's most charming resorts-Beaulieu is beautiful, in a wonderful setting, simple, relaxed yet sophisticated with a more authentic feel and less touristy than neighbouring towns. The Marcellin is a good choice to enjoy this great resort on the irresistible Riviera!
- Granty3333 (10/5): Wow !! - We only had a short stop but what a find !!! Huge well appointed and beautifully air conditioned rooms with every amenity you could ask for !! Grab yourself a great deal on accomadation here and spend what you save in the multitude of little patisseries in this simply beautiful seaside gem !!
- wonderwandernyc (10/5): 3 Reasons To Stay Here - 1. The Location: the hotel is ideally located 5 minutes from the train station and directly across the street from both a bakery and a bus stop. Beaulieu-sur-Mer isn't the destination many people think of when they go to the French Riviera, but I discovered that it was both a convenient middle-ground for exploring the little towns along the coast and a lovely, quiet place to return to after a long day of sight-seeing. You can also take a nice, 20-minute walk to St. Jean Cap Ferrat. Nice seems like the safe bet, but it can feel a bit like Disneyland. Beaulieu-sur-Mer feels like the French Riviera. Also, I must suggest a restaurant that is a 10-minute walk from the hotel: Petit Darkoum. Excellent, excellent Turkish food.
2. The Owners: they are lovely. You don't always find this in hotels in France (or anywhere).
3. The Value: it's excellent. You're going to spend a lot of money in the south of France, mostly on food. What a relief it was to know there is a good, clean, safe hotel that was such a great value, taking the sting out of other expenses. Americans will have to get over the room size, which, to my mind, is perfectly fine given that you will not be spending much time there. It's cleaned every day and perfectly nice. Bonus: there's a TV, so you can watch French programming while you drift to sleep.
I highly recommend the Hotel Marcellin.
- Trena7 (10/5): Hotel Marcellin helped to make my short stay unforgettable - I stayed here to attend a friend's wedding and it was simply lovely, walking distance to the beach and easy access to shops etc in my short stay because it was so central I took day trips to Italy and Monte Carlo the owners were very pleasant and despite the language barrier very helpful.
- TanjaL (8/5): Great value for money on Côte d'Azur - Warm and hospitable family owned hotel with buckets of charm a la Provencale. A renovation might be due, but that would surely affect prices - which are very advantageous for being on the French Riviera - hopefully Marcellin will stay as it is for some years to come; great value for money.
Good sized rooms (double with 2 beds), perhaps somewhat thin walls (you may notice your closedst neighbours) spacious bath room, no elevator as usual in France. We had breakfast outside the hotel (croissants and jam do not quite hit the spot for us Norse people...)
Beaulieu sur Mer is lovely and an excellent base for exploring Nice, Monaco, Eze, Menton etc by car, bus, or train - we can recommend the train to everyone who wants a hassle free holiday without the worry of parking space.
- stefaniam237 (8/5): as stay at home - this small hotel is located in one of the most beautiful place of cote d'azur. The owners are really kind, always available for suggesting place and things to do. Is just 5 minutes walking from the sea. Rooms are clean and confortable. Parking on the road. quality/price rate convenient.
- astellar (8/5): A Real Gem... - This little hotel was a real find. A previous booking elsewhere could not be extended for an extra night so it was also a last minute one.
The town of Beaulieu and the location of the hotel itself couldn't be better. It was my first visit with the purpose of attending a few social functions over the course of a weekend
I'm not sure what I expected from a single room booked online at the last minute but I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel itself has a wonderful homely feel, having arrived bruised and battered from long & short haul flights before being due to check in, I was accommodated within 20 mins.
I was directed up the main staircase to the 1st floor to what could be termed a small room but by French standards based on previous stays is quite normal. Notably, the bed was queen sized (a relief any solo traveller will appreciate), with an ensuite, noiseless air-conditioning and a place for everything. I needed a clothes iron which was provided straight away and left with me for the duration of my stay. A door code is also provided for returning after midnight which was very straightforward to use with no problems to report. I opted not to take breakfast each morning simply because I knew I would not wake up in time with the reality being that a continental breakfast or otherwise can be had at a variety of places around Beaulieu.
So was it perfect? That wouldn't be true to say either - but on balance I was very glad to have ended up here. I didn't notice a lift or a pool of any sort which wouldn't particularly bother me but might someone else. The bedroom doors on the landing are very close to one another so it is impossible not to hear keys, locks, others coming & going etc. however guests seemed to have respect for the atmosphere they found themselves surrounded by and maintained a quiet demeanour for the most part. Some of the bathroom fittings could do with update or replacing and a floor mirror would also have been a useful addition.
My checkout & departure were seamless - the first time I was asked for payment details of any kind was when my bags were packed and ready to go. A taxi pre-booked for me by the hotel also arrived on the dot to take me to Nice airport. The couple who run this hotel are polite, friendly people who took with kindness and patience the variety of requirements communicated by me in my best broken French.
So if you intend to stay at Hotel Marcellin, I have no doubt that for location, price and atmosphere - you could do a lot worse elsewhere.
- jeane603 (8/5): Marcellin Hotel - We stayed here for 2 nights in June 2012. Dont be put off by the photos attached to the railing outside the hotel. Its a very nice place, with modern and bright rooms. En suite bedrooms which are clean and neat. The manager and his wife are very polite, friendly and helpful. There is also free wi-fi. The breakfast was a bit steep at 8.5 euros, so we gave it a miss. There is a boulangerie straight across the road which does coffees and croissants or pains au chocolat.
- Anna1963Belgium (8/5): A pleasant little hotel! - We stayed two night in this hotel. The manager is a very nice and polite man. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Good breakfast as well.
- dwdavidwatt (10/5): The charm of Provence - The Marcellin is a small - about 10 rooms - privately operated hotel a short walk up the hill from Beaulieu rail station, on a corner in a quiet part of town. Central Beaulieu with its many restaurants is less than five minutes by foot; the casino and beach front maybe five minutes more.
There was not a lot of space left after the queen-size bed was accommodated in our room but a window nook and a couple of other niches, plus a huge bath-room, made up for it. Everything was perfectly clean and the room itself decked out in the gorgeous, happy colours and patterns of Provence.
Breakfast was served in an antique-filled corner room which doubles as the owner's office and lounge. It's all very cosy and intimate: a beautiful little gem of a hotel to which I would happily return should I have the chance.
- edstraker123 (10/5): Will definitely be back next year - We have just returned from a weeks stay in the Hotel Marcellin and can only say we were absolutely delighted with it. It's exceptionally good value for money with our bedroom being very pleasantly decorated and also having a large bathroom which was spotlessly clean. The photographs on the hotel's website are a very accurate reflection of the rooms. The position of the hotel is perfect, a five minute walk to Beaulieu train station with bus stops in both the Nice and Monaco directions within a couple of minutes walk. The main beach in Beaulieu is also only a five minute walk down the hill. The proprieters of the hotel were also very nice, exceptionally helpful and very pleasant without being in your face. I will definitely be booking a 2 week stay here next year.
- _davidius61 (8/5): nice place to stay - Lovely, 2 star, modernised old-style French hotel. Very reasonably priced for the Riviera. Welcoming owners and spotlessly clean rooms. We asked for, and received, a biggish, quiet room, and stayed for 6 nights. Some other rooms looked compact but would suit single travellers or those overnighting.
Traditional French breakfast--we took it for convenience but you might prefer local bars.
Parking can be a problem. It is free on local side streets but you have to be patient and grab a place when one becomes vacant. The advantage, once parked, is that you can use the local bus (across the street) and train service (station about 5 mins walk) to all local resorts such as Nice, Menton, Monaco and Villefranche.
Highly recommended but be prepared for a little hassle when parking.(there is no hotel car park). Beaulieu is a gem with excellent restaurants at all prices. Would certainly stay again.
- StegLondon (8/5): Quaint french hotel - We stayed for a bank holiday weekend. The rooms were simple, spotless and spacious. The couple that run the hotel work very hard to keep the guests happy. The location is good just behind the town. breakfast is simple (croissants and coffee) and needs pre-booking the evening before. This is to ensure the owners pick up enough fresh supplies from the boulangerie in the Morning. If you are after somewhere traditional to stay on the Riviera I would certainly recommend the Marcellin you can pay a lot more for a lot less in this part of the world.
