- Christopher (8/5): An unusual but comfortable place to stay. - Excellent breakfast - spoilt for choice. This is a fascinating, quirky place to stay, together with its associated antiques shop. Tricky to find along narrow roads, particularly during a November rainstorm!
- Sarah (10/5): Fabulous stay! - Nothing was too much trouble for Andrew and Bridget, they were very accommodating of our slightly later arrival time as we had travelled for 3.5 hours. The Workshop was perfect for our stay and plenty big enough, comfy beds and a cosy atmosphere. The WiFi was brilliant enabling me to work remotely too. Breakfast there was plenty of choices all made fresh to order. Gorgeous little hidden gem, we hope to be back one day!

- Rosie (10/5): WONDERFUL! - This was a maximalists' dream! I am a maximalist - the whole place was a cornucopia of antiques, collectables, pretty things, quirky things! There was something to notice everywhere! For me, it was a paradise! The food was delicious! The hosts were lovely! I didn't want to leave! NOTHING!

- Donna (5/5): Had high hopes but reality was a different story. - The location was great with a nice pub opposite. The staff were friendly, although when we came to leave there was nobody to be found despite looking in all the main areas. When we arrived we were greeted by a large dog in the hallway jumping up on my husband, leaving a long red scratch down his chest and stomach area. He seemed to have a large dog pen in the kitchen which he was then put in although I am not entirely sure that the kitchen is the most hygienic place to keep a dog when it’s used for food preparation for guests. We were then able to check in and were taken to our room. We were a little confused as this was not the one that was shown in the room choice photos on the website but seemed nice enough. The room was fairly outdated but was ok for our needs. We noticed the main areas of the building were extremely cluttered with every object imaginable from large metal sculptures to taxidermy animals. The website said there was a bar which we were hoping to sit in and have a few drinks on our first evening but there was nobody about to serve us any drinks which was disappointing. Breakfast was served the following morning. There was a wonderful selection of cereal boxes on the side table to choose from. However after picking up six of the boxes that were all empty apart from a tiny bit, not enough for even half a portion, I opted for some weetabix as there was a whole box of them available. Cooked breakfast was nice however there was no white sugar for my cereal or my husband’s cup of tea. When we returned from our day and evening out we were looking forward to a relaxing sleep. We were disappointed to see that our room hadn’t been serviced. The bed was not made, just left with the duvet pulled back as we had left it that morning and the bathroom had not been touched or towels replaced. I have never stayed in a hotel or bed and breakfast where our bed did not get made each day . We were going to have a shower before bed but there was a lot of mould/mildew on the grouting in the lower half of the shower so we decided to give it a miss.
- John (8/5): lovely location and quirky setting - Lovely village location with Antique shop attached local pub serving good food, lovely Henry V11 four poster bed excellent shower and breakfast, friendly host Nothing really

- Keith (10/5): Perfect hosts, location and experience. - Beautiful, peaceful village location with a lovely pub. Very close to lots of market towns and places to visit. Andrew and Bridgette were exceptional hosts who could not be more helpful. The breakfast was delicious, hot and served quickly. The produce used were top quality and the breakfast room was a perfect place to start the day. We can not recommend this B&B highly enough.

Wonderful breakfast, lot of choice.
- Zvonimir (10/5): - Cosy place, clean, confortable, warm and welcoming hosts, excellent breakfast, great pub nearby Everything was great
- Helen (10/5): Bonkers but brilliant - Unique B&B, quirky and interesting and a key part of the village. Andrew, our host was friendly and cooked us a superb breakfast. There's a good choice on the breakfast menu and our room was comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. We loved the history of the building and all the antiques and collectibles that create a special place to stay. Nothing to dislike.
- Duncan (9/5): Lovely relaxing stay with a country pub on the doorstep in a charming house. - Loved its quirky charm, location and excellent hosts. Ample parking, fabulous breakfast and if you love antiques. - a dream stay! Because of the open plan nature of this old schoolhouse noise did travel but not to the extent that it affected our stay.
- marianne (9/5): - Magnifique ancienne école remplie d'objets d'un antiquaire. Le son de BBC3 qui accompagne le petit déjeuner. Rien
- Parkes (9/5): -
- Philip (9/5): We just stayed the night on our way to elsewhere but had a great visit - Quirky property in quiet village location great pub across the road well situated to visit large parts of north Norfolk Nothing it was fine
- David (10/5): A wonderful alternative to bland hotel chains - A wonderfully eccentric location which was a glorious feast for the eyes and a delightful change from bland samey hotel chains. Superb breakfast, clean, comfortable and homely bedroom and warm, welcoming hosts. Highly recommended. Nothing
- John (8/5): Chalk and Cheese overnight stay - Enjoyed my stay at Chalk and Cheese.Thebroom.was gone bathroom also. The owners were lovely people and the breakfast was good.Of I am in the area in the future would stop there again.

- Dave (10/5): A night out for our wedding anniversary. The whole place was a feast to the eyes!! - Wonderfully quirky, comfortable run by a lovely couple Nothing!
- Andrew (10/5): - A real pleasure. Fabulous surroundings, lots of colour, plenty to feast your eyes on. Comfortable room, excellent hosts, wonderful breakfast with so much variety and great quality. Lovely hosts, felt very welcome.
- Tina (9/5): Great place for our night away - A bonus to have a mini fridge in the room
Great breakfast in a lovely setting
Comfy beds
- Eric (8/5): - Quirkiness . Friendly hosts Cobwebs in bedroom. Lack of handrail in shower. Duvet too thick so too hot during the night, interrupted sleep.
- Kate GL (10/5): Charming, comfortable and unique - Stepping into Chalk and Cheese is like arriving at an oasis. Bridget and Andrew are wonderful hosts (and Harry, the cat does a good Front of House). The building is a former schoolhouse but is now a home, combined with an amazing array of vintage and antique collectibles. My room, up the stairs, was uncluttered but charming with a very comfortable bed and excellent pillows. Huge bathroom with a shower and a free standing bath (on wonderful clawed feet). Lovely choice of tea and coffee bags as well as wonky-fruit-flavoured and plain waters. Very good breakfast (excellent selection) served in the airy conservatory. I didn't mind sharing the breakfast table with other guests who wanted to chat, but I appreciate that that isn't how everyone wants to start their day. Stairs to the bedroom are steep when carrying luggage (again, not a problem for me, but could be for some). I love cats, but Harry might be too friendly for other guests.
The curtains and blinds are not black-out, be prepared to wake with the sun.
- Petrackova (9/5): Great, really enjoyed the hosts company and their hospitality. Place was great to unwind and I sure like to come back - Very quirky and personable, lots of character and personality. little dated in place such as - TV and radio etc
- WAYNE (8/5): A unique experience and enjoyable stay for our 40th Wedding Anniversary celebration. - The building, although being repurposed, has maintained its original character. It is a unique experience, and being attached to an antique business, there was something to look at and admire at every turn. We enjoy staying in unusual and quirky accommodation, and this certainly fits the bill.
- Stagg (9/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): - Magnificent! A really great outing for the senses: comfortable, beautiful presented old school house with an antique shop in the playground, good parking, superb village location, convenient for the whole of west Norfolk and close enough to major routes for the rest of the county / region. Bridget and Andrew are excellent hosts, the breakfast was wonderful, wi-fi strong, and decoration throughout is marvellous. Very good value stay - top quality shower!! As ever, my best recommendation would be that I'd definitely stay there again, any time!
- Setesh (10/5): Fantastic, warm and inviting - Surrounded by interest antiques and a wonderful quirky place to stay. The proprietors were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The room was very comfortable. I would definitely stay there again if given an opportunity. Nothing. Everything was brilliant

- Leisa (10/5): - If you’re looking for a charming escape with all the comforts of home, look no further than Chalk & Cheese.
Tucked away in a quiet, scenic area, this bed and breakfast is the perfect blend of warmth, character, and hospitality.
From the moment you step through the door, you’re greeted by the friendly hosts, who truly go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. They seem to have thought of every detail to make your stay enjoyable, from sweet treats at the entrance to personalised breakfast options each morning.
The rooms are beautifully decorated, with vintage touches. They’re clean, well-appointed, and each has its own unique character. And while Chalk & Cheese feels like a step back in time, it doesn’t sacrifice comfort—plush beds, soft linens, and modern amenities ensure a restful stay.
Not managed to investigate the Antique shop yet, but will make sure I do on my next visit.
Whether you’re here for a romantic getaway, a solo retreat, or just passing through, Chalk & Cheese B&B is a place that will make you want to linger a little longer.

- Nigel (9/5): - the location was quiet and peaceful with a pub 100 yards away across the village green serving great food. The accommodation hosts Andrew and Bridget made fantastic multi choice breakfasts. nothing to dislike,
- Kellie (8/5): Very comfortable quirky home. - It was a good location and the rooms were very comfortable. Very good breakfast and close to the pub for dinner. A lovely, quirky property. I booked two rooms for 3 adults so it was a pity that we were not all together. One room was outside of the property and the other was in the property. Otherwise very happy with our stay.
- Lynn (8/5): -
- MARY (10/5): Perfect location, perfect hosts and cosy room. - Breakfast was superb. Location was perfect too. Air conditioning in room was a bonus on the very hot day. Beds were comfortable. Complimentary biscuits and bottled water were very well received. There was nothing we didn’t like so can’t comment.
- nichola (8/5): Car drivers only! - The room especially the roll top bath tub!
The full English and the family atmosphere in general at the b& b. The hotel and grounds were lovely. The couple that ran it couldn't have been kinder and more helpful. They even gave me a lift out of the village without asking for payment. Noisy neighbours throwing a birthday party until 3.30am then.lots of shouting outside some abusive language used. The location was awful with no public transport on Sundays or bank holidays. Only one pub to eat within walking distance. The hotel was like a living museum full of curios so a bit cluttered in lounge areas. The reception area smelt of dog!
- adele (10/5): -
- Peter (10/5): A lovely place run by lovely people. - Great place. Full of antiques and lovely furniture.
The breakfast room is beautiful.
