Guest Reviews
- Mairéad (9/5): But very good. Not complaining - Nice and warm and clean Never changed towels or tea and milk
- Sarah (8/5): -
- Ilona (6/5): A very basic hotel with friendly staff. - Simple check in and check out procedure. Friendly staff. The curtain in the room is transparent. If you don't want to wake up with the sun, you need an eye-cover. The light in the bathroom is automatic, it is really annoying for those who need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night - it is not possible to not have it on. There is one chair in a double room. Not even a tiniest shelf in the bathroom.
- Daniel (9/5): Just right - Friendly staff, great location, comfy bed, all that was needed in the room, pub downstairs Nothing
- Guest (8/5): -
- Ray (6/5): -
- JOHN (10/5): Great tradition pub with friendly sfaff and locals. Single room has all you could need for a short stay - The room had everything I could need and was clean and tidy. The bar staff were amazing and so helpful The parking can be an issue but the staff are on top of it and help you find a safe space no to block people in
- Robert (8/5): -
- Karen (5/5): -
- Scott Williams (9/5): Always the place I'll stay if in Gravesend. - Great pub to stay at and an easy 10 minute walk to the station.
- rob (7/5): -
- Rory (10/5): -
- Alex (9/5): - Good pub hotel
- Paul (8/5): -
- Henry (10/5): -
- Ingrid (8/5): - De vriendelijkheid en welwillendheid van eigenaar en personeel . Dat er niets te eten was behalve een zakje chips en het bed was niet best.

- Michael (9/5): Thank you for a wonderful stay, would definitely book again. - Location, clean, comfortable. Annette on arrival. Difficulty to close the bathroom door.
- Inez (10/5): Overnight stay before our Christmas cruise - A very relaxed atmosphere and the staff and management are very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The pub no longer serves food or breakfast since covid, apparently. There are plenty of places within walking distance, however.
- Pete (8/5): Very accommodating staff and no nonsense. Clean and pleasant. Highly recommended. - No nonsense and quick check in as with an accident and bad delays I arrived late to get changed and to a nearby wedding. I had already been allowed to arrive before standard check in time. The car park was full but the staff arranged for vehicles to be moved so I could park up. In many other places this would be regarded as a ‘you’ problem. They solved it within 5 minutes. Nothing.
- Bob (8/5): Nice bar, comfortable bed great folks - Love the bar , local folks and the room was comfortable Had a small issue with the shower. No food but enough places around
- PETER (10/5): -

- Robert (10/5): A friendly local with a warm welcome - The staff and locals were extremely friendly. We were made most welcome. The rooms were very clean and comfortable with all the facilities you need. We had an excellent stay! If you are looking for the Dorchester keep looking but if you want a friendly local with a warm welcome this is it! Not much
- PETER (10/5): -
- Scott (9/5): Great peaceful overnight. - Traditional pub hotel, rooms are badic, functional & clean. Very quiet location. Nothing on this short visit
- Christine (2/5): - The hotel failed to inform me that their roof was leaking prior to my visit and only told me as I checked in. I couldn't find any communal toilets in the hotel section so was forced to use the toilet and watch I didn't slip in the puddle of water that accumulated on the floor.
- Johanna (6/5): Pleasant staff, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Okay for an overnight stay. - Pleasant staff, clean room, comfy bed Terrible caustic smell, maybe from new bathroom flooring? Towel rail in the bathroom was hanging off the wall on one side. There was only one mug for tea/coffee when the booking was for 2 people. Booking.com stated checkout at 11:00 but we were told it was 10:00 on arrival.
- Christy (9/5): Nice place - Clean and quiet. Easy check in. The room could do with bedside lamps.
- Kathleen (7/5): Welcoming and friendly - Welcoming lovely old pub Nothing
- Kevin (7/5): -
- Daniel (6/5): -
- Katarina (9/5): Overall nice place to stay. - Location to the town centre, cool pub underneath Because of the pub, noise in the evening
- NICOLAS (6/5): -
- Cacchioli (8/5): Friendly, cosy pub. - Friendly atmosphere, cosy locals pub. Friendly helpful staff.A good choice if walking England coastal path. It's a pub with rooms, so no breakfast available but there's a range of choices within walking distance for evening meal.
- Sue (9/5): Will definitely stay again. - The room was exceptionally clean and well equipped. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Nothing.
- David (9/5): -
- Dave (8/5): Recommended - Lovely pub
- Lisa (6/5): - It was very clean and even though there was a connecting door to the next room, I didn't hear any noise.
- Chandrashekar (7/5): Overall a nice place to stay. - The room was neat, clean and comfortable. No dining options
- Campbell (10/5): We will definately visit again the next time we are in Gravesend. - Owner, management/staff and other customers were all very helpful, friendly and made us most welcome.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely traditional English pub with friendly staff and locals.
- Roger (10/5): - Great location the young girl that was behind the bar checked us in and was very helpful and polite much better than I was expecting would definitely stay again
- Reinhold (6/5): Soso Stay - Proximity to town center For 1 nIght I was in a very small room with a bed fit for a child or small adult, not a tall man. Very hot during my stay and no ceiling fan/AC, though heaters were everywhere, even hallways. With window open noise from bar terrace was significant. Many reviewers noted friendly staff, but that was not my experience. Last 2 nights I moved to a larger room for £20/night more, which was more comfortable and quieter. Lastly, no breakfast, no water, which for the price, astounded local family/friends.
- Valerie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Iain (10/5): - Very convenient for the Temple wedding we attended, lovely English pub, very efficient and friendly staff from reception, bar staff, cleaner , all great
- Philip (8/5): Very good -
- Laurence (9/5): Nice, clean, & friendly place. - Nice clean room, really friendly people, would recommend it. Not so much didn’t like, but would have loved breakfast to be available. Perhaps if being picky, could have done with extra electrical sockets and USB phone charging points.
- K (10/5): - Pleased with quiet, comfortable stay in a well kept clean hotel within walking distance of Siri Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara and Gravesend Railway Station
- Louise (10/5): Fabulous - Absolutely loved it photos dont do it justice . Ive stayed in many hotels but this had everything for whst i needed at this time . And staff was lovely and friendly despite reading about rude staff i found them all very welcoming and i will be bk if im in the area
- Lee (10/5): Brilliant - Amazing staff and great atmosphere made you feel like family
- Rob (6/5): Pleasant - The room was clean and bed comfortable. Staff help full and friendly Didn't like area. Town feels a little run down
- Darrel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gary (8/5): Exceptionally clean, with friendly staff. - The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The bar area was very busy and had a great selection of drinks.
The rooms and the bar area was absolutely immaculate. Although the single room was small it was adequate for our stay.
The location is next to the temple and only 8 mins walk from the rail station.
I would definitely stay here again and would recommend the place to others. Breakfast would have been great but there is plenty of coffee shops and cafes a short walk away.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Reasonable hotel close to the town. - The Jolly Drayman is conveniently located close to the town. I have found it a reasonable hotel for short stays.
- Deborah (6/5): Pleasant - Location Need more plug sockets and a mirror by a plug socket would be very helpful. Light in bathroom is a sensor light not helpful when you're in the shower and plunged into total darkness!
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): - It was basic but it suited us very well.
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (7/5): Good accommodation at a reasonable price - Clean room, well appointed including microwave and fridge, en suite shower room, handy for the centre of town, bed comfy enough, complimentary tea and coffee, quiet, reasonable size single room. Would use again. Shower took some working out and took ages to warm up. Shower room door awkward (maybe a bi-fold would be better), very noisy extract fan (doesn't need to be - could be better installed - I know about these things). No breakfast.
- alison (10/5): - Really clean and everyone as so friendly would defiantly stay again
- Tammara (5/5): Passable -
- Richard (10/5): We decided to stay at the pub whilst attending an event in the area a great location. The room was perfectly adequate fo - A great location to walk to our venue and also explore this historic area. Great staff very helpful when we checked in Nothing
- Duncan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rose (10/5): Family occasion and was good location to town centre friendly staff and great night sleep - Very friendly staff manager Annette was very helpful and kind
King size bed was very comfortable and lovely white fluffy towels plenty of tea and coffee and everything you needed for your stay Friendly pub able to park the car clean room
- Michael (9/5): Superb - Location good if visiting Gravesend as easy to walk to most places of interest. Friendly pub, great staff. Room is fine for overnight stay. Breakfast places close. Nothing really.
- Rod (9/5): Superb -
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kim (8/5): Accommodation was clean and comfortable - Location was ideal for our needs
Accommodation was clean and comfortable
- Arseni (9/5): Superb - At our arrival, we were welcomed by a very kind and friendly lady who showed us the room and gave all the information we needed about Gravesend.
The room I got was large (with two windows!); the bathroom was also large and practical. The bed is fluffy, and so are the bathroom towels—I believe I've never seen the towels so fluffy!
- Carol (7/5): Good -
- Anderson (10/5): Exceptional - Staff was really lovely and friendly always greeted with a smile Nothing everything was clean comfortable bed,
- Angela (8/5): - People very friendly. Will definitely use them again when we're in this area.
- Eugene (10/5): - The staff were a credit to the establishment, service was attentive, check in / out was very efficient, assistance was provided with my heavy luggage facilities within the room were excellent.
- Sarabjit (9/5): Fantastic would book again. - Location as walking distance to all relatives. Very friendly staff. Most of all the room was clean and modern. Parking can be an issue as it's a pub, so it's not guaranteed to get parking. Though the owner does keep his car on cat park and happily moved it so we could park.
- Karen (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff
Comfortable room No available car parking
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (6/5): - The check in staff were friendly and accommodating. The location was good for our requirement. Nice pub and most of the locals were friendly. Felt unwelcomed with the seating in the non-operational bar where we were trying to accommodate the viewing of the game for the other guests. Felt blamed for parking in the space provided as directed by staff; there was no signage saying that the area was to be kept clear as this is a fire exit. However, alternative parking provided relatively quickly. Also, the fan provided in the room did not work.
- Emily (10/5): Lovely staff! - Really lovely staff that made sure we had a good weekend since we wasn’t from round there!
- Ronald (10/5): - Good band playing. Happy friendly customers.
- Ettenfield (10/5): Exceptional - The landlady/owner was lovely!
- Lauren (10/5): - Amazing service, staff were very welcoming and made us feel at home, Annette was amazing! She gave us detailed recommendations about what we could do and what restaurants were around town etc. Thank you Annette! 😊
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Garry (8/5): Very good -
- Karen (10/5): Great for a get together with my family, comfortable, clean and friendly - Great location, friendly staff and I loved the function room, great atmosphere and comfy bed
- Miles (8/5): - A lovely pub with great ales right next door to the fantastic Gurdwara Sikh temple. We got to look around and felt treated like royalty.
- Jamie (8/5): - Clean room with TV, microwave,Fridge and kettle but unfortunately there wasn't a bin
- Timothy (10/5): - Nice and quiet for a Friday night. Room had everything we needed, including a microwave and fridge which we didn't actually need !
Convenient location and good beer to boot !
- Periwinkle (2/5): Won’t recommend this place. - I would not stay here again. The bedsheet had hair/dust, kettle in the room wasn’t too clean, there was only a single cup besides the fact that I booked a king double room and the floor mat in the toilet was untidy.
The exhaust fan looked as if it was not cleaned.
- Linda (8/5): A reasonably-priced and well-located hotel. - I was greeted by the friendly manageress. I was bumped up to a larger room from my original single so I can't say if the facilities are the same. The room was clean and comfortable with a microwave and fridge as well as the usual coffee/tea, etc. It had a fan to cool you down and an extra cover to warm you up. The shower-room was a reasonable size with added toiletries.
- Lynne (6/5): - I was interested in a low priced hotel, IN LONDON! Expedia listed this hotel as in London. This hotel is far outside of London! The time it would take, to get a train, plus the money for the train, would be too time consuming for this trip! Because Expedia listed this non refundable hotel, in London, when it was at least 45 minutes away (one way), Expedia ruined the London part of my trip!
- Howard (8/5): - Typical pub accomodation of a good standard but a few minor things not quite right such as a broken loo brush, Excellent equipment including fridge, microwave and kettle.
- David (10/5): Good as expected - Comfortable. Very friendly
- Ian (10/5): - Gravesend is not a holiday destination, but it suited us as we were visiting family. The pub was friendly and well attended and there were plenty of eating places within only a few minutes walk. People we met were genuine and friendly, though Gravesend still has a bit of a reputation for being a bit "in-your-face.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A Pleasant Stay. - Always a pleasant stay. Very convenient to the Town Centre.
- Tony (10/5): - No breakfast available was the only downside. Also Gravesend is not the town it was. Pretty dirty and dead.
