Guest Reviews
- william (10/5): - Didn’t have breakfast.
- RAYMOND (10/5): - Self check in was easy and the area and room were great
- Joseph (8/5): - Enjoyed very much the location and the tv room downstairs
- William (6/5): - Clean and safe and close to the centre of town and the shore, but not a 4 star property by any stretch.
Furniture was cheap and old fashioned (but not in a vintage way). Bedroom had two bedside lamps but only one plug.
Breakfast was served in the Dunvegan (sister property two doors down). Staff were somewhat uninterested though helpful enough. Quality of food was mid to low.
Definitely not good value at £186 a night - even though St Andrews is ridiculously expensive to stay in.
Seems odd that it was more expensive than normal AND unstaffed that night.
Couldn't really recommend it on a vfm perspective but if you are on a budget and its <£150 a night it might be worth a punt.
- Michael (10/5): - Quaint property, one block from the Old Course.
- Connie (8/5): - Great location; nice friendly staff; clean
Parking was a bit inconvenient as we were unfamiliar with the area and local parking restrictions
Room was comfortable but small; a luggage stand would be helpful
- Mike (10/5): - The breakfast was wonderful. The staff were very delightful and friendly. Close to the golf course and many attractionsz
- CHRISTOPHER (10/5): - Nice property, very good location next to its partner property the famous Dunvegan, around the corner from the Old Course, and walking to everything. The breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly and professional. I will stay here next time I’m in St Andrews.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - From the Happy Birthday banner to the lovely appointed room (and fabulous bath) - this was my FAVORITE!!! Breakfast was scrumptious too - what a treat. Location is perfect too. Thank you so much!
- Edward (10/5): Great service - Great experience
- Brian (10/5): - Very friendly staff, quiet, reasonably priced, great location
- Mark (10/5): Wonderful stay at a great price. - Everything about the room was wonderful. Breakfast was amazing. Staff were incredibly professional, sweet, and pleasant. I would visit again due to the service and quality of food alone.
However, I would not recommend my room for more than one person or a couple. The room was small, but cozy. There was no AC, but it was not really necessary. Shower was small as well so be prepared if you are taller or larger. Those were the only slight "downsides." Otherwise the stay was perfect.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room is lovely and comfortable. The location is per. The food was not memorable.
- Jason (10/5): - Incredible place. Location is amazing. Walking distance to everything.
- Dean (8/5): - Super close to famous landmarks, most notably the Old Course. Backyard patio was good for the guys golf trip.
- Mitchell (8/5): - Great location for golfers and families of students of St. Andrews. Breakfast offered great delicious choices. Great service. A great bonus was a delicious homemade baked item left in dining room each afternoon.
- Eric (10/5): - The room was nice other than being on the 3rd floor with no elevator and two twin beds instead of a king. The check in is different, you go to the pub next door and they check you in and the young man carried our bags up and down the stairs. The area is perfect and the pub is a great place to hangout after a round.
- Lisa (8/5): - Small, comfortable room. Delicious breakfast included.
- Donna (8/5): - The included breakfast was nice. Our room was a small separated building at the back of the property. It was cute but the two twin beds was unexpected. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The only negative was that they turned off the power in our room 15 minutes before checkout and I was still finishing packing up.
- Joshua (10/5): - We had two rooms for 4 people. One room was the detached back cottage with two twin beds and a bit smaller bathroom that our older daughters used, and one room was upstairs with nice space and a very nice restrooms including modern shower my wife and I used. The location was perfect for our brief visit to see some of the St Andrews history and visit the Old Course. The provided breakfast was superb and we enjoyed talking with the staff. The sister property, Dunvegan Hotel, had a nice bar for drinks and listening to the golfers coming in tell their stories. We would stay here again.
- Ronald (8/5): - Comfortable beds, spacious bath, appeared to be recently remodeled. Excellent breakfast and wonderful staff. Would have given a 5 star rating except there were minor annoyances. In the third floor room, it is very easy to hit you head on the sloped ceiling when getting out of bed. Power outlets were somewhat inconveniently located and lights with with USB power ports did not work (or the switch to turn them on was not easily found). A nice touch was the towel heater in the bathroom but there wasn't an obvious way to turn it on. Would not recommend for anyone who isn't comfortable carrying their bags from a parking lot a block away or is not comfortable carry their bags up1-2 flights of stairs.
- Kevin (10/5): - Good for golfer
- Denise (10/5): - We enjoyed our visit to St. Andrews. Our room was very nice, clean, comfortable bed, large bathroom. Great location, easy walk to downtown, beach, golf course and college. Fun pub next door but not loud in evening. Our breakfast was wonderful. There was no elevator. We would stay here again.
- BRIAN (10/5): - Very well kept and comfy!
- scott (10/5): - Great little property with a cool pub next door and convenient to St Andrews.
- David (10/5): - Loved it. Large, well appointed room and bathroom. Great breakfast served by very friendly, helpful staff. Would definitely rebook!
- andrew (8/5): - Liked the accommodation. We stayed in the annex.
- Steve (8/5): - It was a great stay and we were very close to everything we wanted to see and do.
- Rachel (8/5): - Loved the location in the heart of the town and near the 18th hole. Lots of walkable dining options and the sites. The breakfast was great and, while the room was modest, the bathroom was very large and modern. Our TV did not work, but not a big deal. WiFi was adequate. Parking is available on back streets, but can be tricky.
- Sanjay (8/5): - Good stay ; value for money.
- Ayesha (10/5): - Great location for everything. Lots of food options and very walkable.
Room is large and nicely decorated but it’s the enormous bathroom w soaking tub plus separate shower that really wows.
- Thomas (10/5): Wonderful stay! - Super convenient location, comfortable room, and wonderful breakfast. Thank you!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff was very kind and helpful! We will definitely come back.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Staff was very kind and helpful! We will definitely come back.
- Duncan (10/5): St Andrews day visit - Excellent service from organising staff who updated us on our visit prior to arrival. Nice breakfast and comfy room
- Syed (10/5): - Clean and cosy
- Graham (8/5): The place to stay ! - Very trendy and comfortable hotel, and great location, will be back. Only draw back, Room 6 on ground floor the WiFi reception is terrible. Shows WiFi available, tried running a download speed test which was very very poor, compared to the remainder of the property. Didn’t spoil stay, but if it was for longer it may have.
- Marilyn (8/5): - Lovely boutique hotel. rooms were quaint. Beds were very comfortable. Breakfasts were very good although we could possibly had more fresh fruit. Had a little difficulty in opening the coded door.
- Sarah (10/5): Gem in the heart of St Andrews - Enjoyed my stay and wished it would’ve been longer. The suite was a gem!
Parking in St Andrews can be tricky, but found a great spot close to the room.
- MICHAEL (10/5): - Excellent place for a conference stay. Great shower, warm and clean rooms, wonderful breakfast, friendly and helpful staff.
- Elinor (6/5): From private owners to attached to a pub. - There was no one in the property and was not given code for door. Had to go to pub a few doors down. This used to be a beautiful house. 4 bedrooms but is now not cared for and it was quite sad to see a property looking ‘lost’.
- David (10/5): - Really enjoyed our stay here. Older property but well kept and very convenient to town and the Old Course. Breakfast each morning was fantastic and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again on our next visit.
- Angela (10/5): - Good, comfortable b & b close to everything in town
- Amy (8/5): - Room was very basic. Access was a little difficult but next door pub helped out
- Sarah (10/5): - Such a beautiful property! We stayed in the carriage house, and it was so wonderful. Very clean and very up to date. The bathroom was very nice.
- Deborah (10/5): Stay! - Great location! Room was very large and comfortable! Breakfast outstanding!
- SARAH (10/5): - Lovely spot to stay in St. Andrew's. Convenient location.
- Tom (10/5): - My husband and I loved this property for so many reasons - location, bed was very comfortable, large bathroom, delicious breakfast excellent service and parking was easy. I highly recommend and would definitely stay there again.
- David (10/5): - Great stay over. Perfect location. Nice big comfortable room
- Sonya (10/5): - The staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Marnee (10/5): - Next to the most famous 19th hole. Easy and great location.
- Kathleen (10/5): - Great garden room which was quiet and private with use of a courtyard garden - room clean and spacious. Lovely breakfast.
- Rachel (10/5): - Great location to most attractions, shopping, and the golf course in St Andrew’s. Convenient walk one block over to the main shopping street which has lots of shops and places to eat. There is no parking onsite but the we found parking a block away.
Breakfast in the morning was good and staff were friendly.
- Arlene (10/5): - Amazing location for the golf course, town centre and local parking
- ERIN (10/5): Perfect for a Weekend Visit - 5 Pilmour is a wonderful place to stay while in St. Andrews. It is very close to everything including the old course, restaurants, shopping, and pubs. It was a very clean, convenient place with tasty breakfast choices!
- Zachary (10/5): - Class place would stay again.
- Kathleen (10/5): - Very close to all the sights in St. Andrews. Parking is very difficult, though.
- Constance (8/5): - We loved our stay in the back cottage. The place was very clean and super cute. My only problem is the wifi in the cottage was really weak so if you need that it would probably be better if you book a room in the hotel part. Otherwise the staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast included was delicious. Very close to the old course. Had a great stay and would definitely stay there again
- neil (10/5): - Brilliant, simple accommodation that’s connected to the fantastic Dunvegan pub. The 18th hole at the old course is a 90 second walk away.
- Gary (10/5): - Great staff here and their sister property, Dunvegan Hotel. Single rooms are tiny. Walls are paper thin, but most patrons find that out quickly, and adjust accordingly. Basic but well prepared breakfast.
- carolyn (10/5): - Lovely stay at this quaint bed and breakfast in St. Andrew’s. Highly recommend! Easy check in. Full breakfast. Rooms nicely decorated. Large bathroom. Five stars all around!
- CHENG-CHUNG (8/5): - As a golfer, visiting St Andrews is essentially a pilgrimage trip. With the Old Course and it’s associated restaurant 5 minutes of walk away, limited room space and lack of on-spot parking are bearable especially with breakfast included!
- Jeff (10/5): - Lovely unit!
- Craig (8/5): - I liked the location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great, easily accessible place to stay near Centre - Great really accessible place to stay. Comfortable room, lovey breakfast. The only slight downside were that the single beds (in the twin room) seemed on the small side, they were very narrow and not very long, I am 5ft 9 and my feet were hanging off the end!
- Bryan (8/5): - The staff was great, location is amazing, my room was adequate but small, my only complaint was the bed was hard as a rock. My breakfast was cooked well and i would stay again. Thank you
- Brian (10/5): - Central location to St. Andrew’s University, excellent staff, and a wonderful family place to stay.
- Jeff (10/5): - Staff was very helpful and responsive. Breakfast was very good both days. We would definitely stay again!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Adequate but by no means four star. - While my stay was fine, this is not a four star hotel. It’s a house with separate bedrooms, en suite bath with individual locks on each room, with a common area living and dining room. *** No staff at night or the afternoon if there is a problem. Push button lock on main entry. In my case that access code was not sent by hotels.com nor did the site or app have it so I had to search for a random email from who knows what origin out of hundreds to get my access code. While waiting in the rain. I assume this is really a golfers place but it was quiet and convenient. Certainly not modern or updated.
- John (10/5): - Wonderful room, central location, a most generous breakfast, and nice staff. Will definitely stay again on my next trip to Saint Andrews! Had to reach out to Expedia customer service because messages were not being delivered through the app, but that does not seem to be the fault of the B&B. Would definitely recommend. Thank you for the wonderful stay!
- donna m (8/5): - Very nice.
- Masakazu (10/5): - Very clean and cozy room. Staffs were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was homemade and well served. Highly recommended and we would like to stay again. Thank you very much.
- Emma (10/5): Highly recommended - This was my second time staying at this property, on both occasions my room has been clean, comfortable and warm with all the basic necessities provided. The location is ideal for walks on the beach and the service at breakfast in the morning was excellent.
- Lisa (10/5): - Good communication, friendly staff, convenient location to transportation and to walk around town
- Evelyn (10/5): - Tidy straight forward no problems
- david (10/5): - Great location to see the town…plenty of pubs and dining options…accommodations were great…nice breakfast as well
- Helen (8/5): Short Break - Entrance didn’t look up to much and lounge very dark but bedroom and en-suite more than made up for it. Amazing.
- susan (10/5): - So convenient to everything like dining & the golf courses, plus the castle. Wonderful quiet room with a terrific bathroom tub & very comfortable bed. Breakfast was very good served by polite staff. Liked the overall decor. Only problem was finding a parking space.
- Stephen (10/5): Poor service at 5 Pilmour Place - We took two rooms at 5 Pilmour Place. Beautiful rooms and bathrooms. Very comfortable and great location to all St. Andrews has to offer. It seemed that a noise curfew might be enforced as the bar quieted just after 11.30pm. Do not rely on the staff as they do not respond to the calls made to the local number they provided and forget requesting an early take away breakfast as we did and it was not provided even though the back up staff at their sister establishment took our order requests. Two thumbs down for integrity!
- Damon (8/5): - Great breakfast every day. Great location for golf. Wifi only worked in the main building.
- Nancy (10/5): - Very comfortable, clean and friendly.
- Neil (6/5): - .
- Melanie (10/5): - Very comfortable stay. Great location. Friendly lady at breakfast. Nice big bathroom. Thought it would be noisy at night but don’t be put off by the main road, it wasn’t a problem.
- Celeste (8/5): - It was difficult carting our luggage up all the stairs since my husband had back surgery and no one to help. Great location and very nice staff Betsy was great.
