• angela (9/5): Over the river and through the woods (or rather hills), to grandmother's house we go! - The Lodge was everything you'd expect at home because it is a home. :) It had multiple bedrooms, bathroom, laundry, stocked kitchen, dining area, and living area. The place was clean and tidy, and kinda reminded me of visiting grandma's due to the decor. We chose this place because it was minutes from Hobbiton, but I wished our trip could have had another day to just wander around the grounds. It seemed beautiful and peaceful with the rolling hills. The patio was very private, but you would really need to walk outside of it since the flowering bushes surrounded the patio tightly, making it hard to see the hills and valleys beyond. The landscaping was pretty around the patio, but for me, I would have just enjoyed seeing a view of the hills. In all, it would be a great place for a family, being super spacious, a great deal on the pocketbooks, and fantastic in being close to Hobbiton. Although it was spacious, clean and tidy, it had a very strong grandma feel. I didn't want to disturb anything and didn't really feel free. Maybe different decor would help feel more relaxed? Still, I gave this place a 9, because decor is a personal thing, and others may enjoy the grandma vibe.

• Fabian (5/5): - Sehr schöne Wohnung in ruhiger Lage. Die Wohnung bietet alles was man für ein Aufenthalt benötigt. Leider war die Sauberkeit nicht ganz ok. Wir hatten dies gemeldet und auch mit der Vermieterin persönlich danach gesprochen und ihr die Probleme gezeigt. Hier sollte beim nächsten Mal mehr darauf geachtet werden.

• Talina (10/5): Beautiful views - Beds were comfy, utilities (include the best shower pressure ever) were everything we needed. The location was amazing the views of rolling hills from the kitchen window was very nice to wake up to.

• Susan (6/5): Great location, studio down by the barn. - The location was great for visiting Hobbiton. The beds were comfortable the studio room was spacious. Our room was not in the main building that was pictured. It a room build on one side of a tractor barn. The outdoor views could have been wonderful but we had a fence in the way. We were thinking we might get a farm style breakfast though it was advertised that way. We did get some slices of bread with "buttery" spread and refilled jam jars. There was milk and cerial and orange juice. And there was a can of canned peaches. There is a full kitchen. So if you want a cooked breakfast, bring your own food and cook it yourself. You will be asked to wash, dry and put away all the dishes you use. The room was mostly clean except for a few dust bunnies. The freezer had open packages of frozen veggies and a dead bug under the bottom drawer.

In knapp 15 Minuten waren wir mit dem Auto in Hobbiton. Wir können diese Unterkunft nur weiterempfehlen. Es können dort bis zu 7 Personen schlafen, aber es gibt nur 1 Toilette plus 1 Duschbad, das ist echt eine Herausforderung.

• Ben (8/5): Lovely, quiet and well equipped. Thank you for a lovely stay in a lovely area - Location was great with awesome views. Very quiet. Cross breeze through the house was very nice and aircon used during the hotter parts of the day. We went for Hobbiton but there is lots of natural things to do and experience locally as a family which we actually enjoyed even more! Kitchen was good but cookware (pots, pans and electric frypan) needs replacing as lots of the non stick Teflon had come off or was coming off. Suggest replacing with a stainless steel set. We cooked most meals for 4 easily with the kitchen equipment available. Very minor things: Having a hand held dust pan would have been handy to clean up. Toilet seems to be leaking a bit, didn't affect us but worth fixing to save water. Bathroom and toilet sink taps were difficult to operate (they get a little stuck but work fine).

The host was very easy to communicate with and was helpful with check in. The bed was very comfortable and the studio was spacious. The breakfast choices could be better, but it was adequate.

• Michel (10/5): Little GEM in the Shire! - Awesome place to stay..on 21 hectare farm. Very quiet…could be described as being in the Shire! Comfortable studio, queen size bed, heated blankets, open concept with kitchen and sitting area. Everything for a continental breakfast is in the cupboard and refrigerator for you to use. Very clean with all necessities. Host David was happy to help and showed us around. He even came to advise us of bad weather coming to make sure we had heat. The place is 12 min to Hobbiton and 20 min to Waikato river for kayaking! Great location for what we wanted to see. Thank you Shona and David. Nothing.

• Colin (10/5): Lovely hosts, lovely view. - Shona was the perfect host. The Studio was clean and cosy. Heater turned on before our arrival meant a toasty warm room to relax in after a cold, wet day. We loved the pantry staples for a quick meal if needed and consideration of travel limitations for food while on the road. Electric blankets added an extra touch of warmth to very comfortable beds during winter.
• David (7/5): Good - The location was beautiful, the room was quite large, and generally comfortable. However 2 downsides... Room was generally chilly and they had several heating options (standalone heater, heated bed later) but it was difficult to warm up the space and not cook in the bed. Bigger downside though, "breakfast" was quite an overstatement for toast and and a few toppings. Really needs something additional to sell it as the bare minimum for breakfast.

• Wei Chun (10/5): - Thank you for being great hosts. We arrived a little after hour and was accommodated and given a small tour of the apartment. The property was clean and large with views overlooking the pasture and farmland. It was always nice and quiet. Appreciate the breakfast items prepared although we did not get to fully utilize it.
• Margaret (7/5): Very restful and pleasant. Nice to have more of a country stay for a change. - Spacious, warm, beautiful comfy bed, good provisions for breakfast and quiet, country location. The little concrete patio was right next to a shed and outlook wasn't quite what we were expecting. The sunset was hidden by trees but if you walked up the driveway you could see it and it was beautiful. No Wifi and TV not working but this wasn't a problem for us.

• Lorrin (8/5): Beautiful property in a beautiful location and amazing hosts. - It was in a beautiful location, so comfortable as well. It wasn’t sound proof. Needed a bit of a vacuum but nothing major. Overall it very a very beautiful place.
• Alok (9/5): Lovely farm stay - It is a rural property with great views especially of the sunset. 2 bedroom apartment with good sized dining and lounge. The owners also live on the property and have stocked it very thoughtfully e.g. ice in freezer, filtered water in fridge. Everything we needed was there. We got takeaway dinner and a bottle of wine and enjoyed watching the sunset with our drinks. The hosts are down to earth and nice. After many stays in hotels this was a nice change The property is a bit remote about 15kms from the nearest town of Cambridge and the road, the last few hundred metres is unsealed.

There were toys ready for our toddler which was a nice touch and he settled in with those straight away! Lovely big space and amazing view. There were also breakfast bits for us to use and food to cook a quick pasta meal were available which was really handy. Although the crucial things were all clean (beds felt nice), it felt like everything probably needed a bit of a deep clean.

Quiet area in the country, close to Hobbiton Movie Set, and welcoming. Our host was helpful and lovely, she made sure we had everything we needed and walked us through all the ammenities. The cottage was spacious and extremely comfortable. Good selection of basic breadfast food, cereal, toast, butter, jam, coffee and tea. We enjoyed our stay very much. No issues with anything!
