Guest Reviews
- Mojee (7/5): Even though the host couldn’t speak much Japanese or English they still went out of their way to keep us warm and dry. - Close to the slopes. Walk there and back. Nothing. Everything was great.
- Yuezong (7/5): -

- jme (4/5): - It's close to the bus stop so it's convenient to head back to Echigo-Yuzawa or wait for the bus headed to Naeba SKi Resort for Fujirock. The staff assigned (July 24-27, 2025) didn't seem to care at all about her job. . She wasn't around during the check in (she was away and we were waiting for her to come back). She was nowhere to be found during the check out. She was so non-chalant about everything. How inconvenient that the internet was down the entire time, the toilet functions at the basement weren't working properly. It's in the middle of summer and you'd have to deal with someone who's so incompetent - what a combo.
Reminder that this place has no AC, so if you're booking this for summer, just brace yourselves, especially during Fujirock
Unfortunately, it was the only place available so we had no choice. This is a warning sign!

- Fung (6/5): Pleasant -
- Bruce (8/5): Great for powder hounds. - Warm and cozy. Short walk to the ropeway. Discounted lift tickets. Full kitchen to use. Big room, could have slept 4 easily. Good non kerosene heater in room. Nice showers. Lots of stairs but not a problem for someone in shape.
- Daniel (4/5): Check-in snafus - Hotel is okay from a room/cleaniness. Check-in was a problem with both hotels.com and the actual check-in. Hotels.com doesn't handle international travel well as they didn't put in that the room we chose was double occupancy. It's not in our receipt which is telling me that it probably got lost in the email to the hotel. It's in the app but apparently that wasn't relayed to the hotel. When we checked in, the reception said it was for single occupancy although we paid the double rate already which is a hotels.com issue. The other issue is the reception person didn't actually speak Japanese in Japan. He had to go through an auto-interpreting device to speak to us in Japanese which is weird because you expect the hotel to speak the native language of the country. It would been fine if they don't speak English but not being able to greet us in Japanese and deal with issues in Japanese in Japan is a problem.
- Julien (3/5): Wouldn’t go again unless nothing around is available - Location Not super clean
Very noisy
Towels are only provided as rental
- Ryou (10/5): Exceptional - Extreme proximity to Kagura Ski resort. Walking distance.
- Karlsson (3/5): Poor -

- H (8/5): Cozy, communal-style guesthouse in a beautiful mountain town. - Location was great, and it was cool to stay in a Japanese-style guesthouse in the mountains! We stayed in the Summer for Fuji Rock Festival, but I'd definitely love to come back and stay in the ski season.
- Khalead (6/5): Pleasant -
- Potentier (9/5): Superb - Good location, cozy and clean. Allow to visit easily touristic surroundings. The owner welcomed us warmly and gave very good recommendations. A little point less for car noises, recommended to bring ear plugs. Otherwise, we loved it!
- Muhammad (10/5): Exceptional - Nice Location & get full snow experience
- Mikhail (10/5): Comfortable and Very friendly owner - Great location near ski area/ bus stop/ Very cheap ski pass and Ski rental provided by the owner. Large dining hall and huge kitchen with a lot of kitchenware available. Large traditional room using futon. Friendly owner. No food at this place or any nearby place so you have to bring your own food but you can cook here so no problem for me at all. Owner only speak chinese so you have to use google translate to communicate.
- Adrien (8/5): great location solid value. better hit the local onsen than relying on the lodge sento. - i must say i was expecting much worse. Quick service, clean room, great location, surprinsingly good value for the season. the attempt at a sento is way too small
- Wanda (9/5): We had the whole villa to ourselves so we were avle - The owner was nice enough to let us use the kitchen and the dining room 'til early morning. We were quite noisy but they didn't mind.
- Fenella (7/5): Good -
- Claire (7/5): Good - My friends and I chose this place because there was not a lot of availability. It was nice that we could check-in so late. We simply picked up a key from a basket. Pretty average stay, nothing to write home about, but it did the job. We only stayed one night, so we can't speak too much on the matter. Although we didn't use the bath, we did have a look and it was very small. It made us ask "is this really a public bath??". Also, if you're not a fan of bead pillows, then I'd suggest bringing your own. Also, the wifi connection was really poor. It went in and out so much we pretty much didn't use it.
- Miklos (10/5): Nice! - I love the location of this property.
- Rininta (8/5): nice stay, we’ll comeback! - Stay here 4nights for fuji rock festival. The location is just perfect. In front of the shuttle bus stop, and just 5 minutes walk from mitsumata roadside station (theres resto and shop) . Theres no air cond in the room just fan.
- Dana (7/5): Great place to stay for the Fuji Rock Festival, but be warned no aircon in the - The location was right on the route for the shuttle bus to the Fuji Rock Festival. I also enjoyed experiencing staying on the tatami mats and having the paper windows like I have seen in the movies. That there was no air conditioning inside of the rooms. Though there was some in the halls. We were there in the summer and coming home after a hot day was kind of disappointing trying to get air from the small fan in the corner. Though we understand that this facility is typically used during the ski season…
- Lisa (5/5): Passable - Stayed her for Fuji Rock Festival. Free shuttle service to festival which made the location convenient. Establishment was very clean. It was fine for what it was. Shared bathroom, Japanese style sleeping on futon/mattress on the floor.
- Algra (8/5): Very good -
- Tung (8/5): Very good -
- Marie (8/5): A reasonable place near Kagura Ski Resort - Happy with the savings on Nationwide Travel Assistance.
- Masha (8/5): Very good -
- Constantin (8/5): Very good - Very good value for money. It has everything you need and is comfortable. onsen only open from 17:00-21:00
- C (9/5): Cozy stay with very kind and helpful people - The staff was very nice. The house is right next to the slopes, you can rent everything you need for snowboarding (e.g. board, shoes, helmet, goggles, gloves, jacket, pants). For ski rental we had to go to another place (many of them around in <5min walking distance). The guy running this place gave us even his own pants, because he didn't have rental pants that were tall enough.
Sleeping situation: On foutons, was alright, very nice blankets and an oven which was cozy. There is a tiny little bath, but we hardly for 1 person (at least the ladies section), so we went to the public bath instead.
There are not many restaurants open (in our off season time actually none) so bring food or have a car ready to go to another town.
- Kelvin (8/5): Very good -
- Nicholas (3/5): Poor -
- Wanda (9/5): will definitely come back again - We were allowed to cook and party until late hours. Nothing in particular
- Reuben (5/5): good for budjet travellers but make sure prepare your own food. hard to find food near there after 5 - Very close to the ski resort. walkable distance and also near to the onsen no staff were there when i came to the property. hard to ask about towel and drinkable water.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Our room was not prepared when we arrived- the beds were still left as is from the previous guests and we went down to notify the property staff- with which unfortunately, we could not communicate in neither Japanese nor English.
