Guest Reviews
- Petru (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jan (9/5): Superb - The charm of the building Nothing,
- Gerard (8/5): Very good -
- Natia (8/5): Very good -
- Viviana (8/5): Very good - The personal was very attentive and the breakfast was ok as you could serve yourself without too many limitations. The room was huge and it met our expectations. We forgot something at our room and when contact the accommodation, they told us nothing was found. This was the only disappointing thing, as we are sure where we left it.
- Maksym (6/5): Pleasant - The location was rather central, and the check-in was easy (the place was empty when we arrived).
Looked very "old-school" - huge doors, high ceilings, etc. Great place for a photoset. The towels were smelly (weren't dried properly). The bed felt like it's going to fall apart under us, and someone was very loug in the corridor at 4 am.
Breakfast was very italian - coffee and effectively snacks. You can live with that, but it was a bit sad.
- Amy (1/5): Behaviour dishonest and completely out of order - The worst experience I've ever had with a hotel booking. Within minutes of confirming my booking, they then said they couldn't check me in at the time I was arriving, but also refused to issue a refund. Then screened my calls, lied to booking.com, still waiting for a refund.
- Gabriella (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roland (9/5): Superb -
- Ernest (8/5): Very good -
- Sandra (6/5): Absolutely beautiful place, well lit-up at night, and extremely secure. If you have heavy or cumbersome luggage, be mi - The interior of Palazzo Zecchino is absolutely beautiful, and you couldn’t ask for more. The furnishings are impeccable, and the tea and coffee making facilities and the complimentary ‘colazione’ in the communal dining room is lovely. What we didn’t expect was what felt like 40,738 steps to make it up to our room, with heavy baggage and no elevator (ascensiore). If you have light baggage (eg a backpack) or you’re super fit, and the thought of being on the highest intensity of your Stairmaster excites you, you’ll have less of an issue!!
- Jeanette (5/5): The property manager and staff were extremely helpful and responsive, the place was clean and quiet. - The location was in a certain way excellent: it was central to many other places. But the location was not good insofar as it was extremely difficult to find at first, in the historic district. The “streets” or lanes are very confusing, unusually dark, even in daytime; the house numbers are not in any expected sequence. The breakfast was certainly more than adequate and provided in a quite charming dining room. More whole grain bread and cereal (not white) would have been welcome. The bedroom had no chair comfortable for sitting and/or reading.
- Arslan (5/5): Historical building with no lift - This is at the red district and safe. Historical building. Staff was good. There is no lift snd each floor is look like two floors. Even if it is in the city center, you can not go to your room very often. And moustiques. There has been İnternet problem over night.
- Vaida (8/5): Very good option to stay for a short time - Good value for the price, all the sights ware nearby. Also, breakfast option was really nice considering price and location If you are traveling solo or just girls it might feel unsafe because in the apartment street are lot of prostitutes and suspicious guys.
- Kia (8/5): Very good - Cute room for a quick stay. Stairs are an issue if you have a lot of luggage
- Peter (5/5): Passable -
- Gail (7/5): Helped me enjoy & make the most of my short stay in Genoa. - Located in the heart of the historic old town.
Excellent communication re check-in & directions.
Great size room.
Good recommendation for dinner.
Helpful when I thought my train might be affected by the strike.
Was able to safely leave my bag a bit longer at the property. I couldn’t get the air conditioning to work but that may have been my error.
- Beatrice (10/5): Step inside an old Palace (with lots of steps😉) - Old building in the old town Prostitutes in the street around the b&b
- Aida (6/5): Pleasant - The room was very cozy and stylish the conditioner was broken so it was very hot in the room even at night, so we slept with an open window which had an effect of the noise from the street
- 946miken (4/5): Ok for the right people - Interesting place & I’ll try to be impartial. We went in August & my partner unfortunately broke her leg before travel (obviously nothing to do with the hotel). The Palazzo is well situated geographically for what you’d want to do in Genoa. If you are of a nervous disposition (I’m not), be aware that returning at night might be challenging owing to the narrow streets and the people around . There aren’t any staff around so if you need that then perhaps not the place for you. As stated previously we went in August & in addition to the 85 steps to our room, the breakfast room was probably the most humid & uncomfortable I’ve been in. I’m not slagging the place off, just trying to provide an honest impartial review. Happy to be contacted if anyone requires clarification.
- Rhonda (9/5): Superb -
- Vihmar (8/5): Very good - Nice clean room. Location is also good.
- Ourania (8/5): Very good -
- Pouriya (6/5): The city is good just for one night - The staff is very cute and shes very kind and breakfast is good and normal and the location is middle of city The location is not safe and you must be at room before 10 .that area isn’t safe
- Bianca (7/5): Staff were lovely! Comfortable stay - The room was comfortable, staff were lovely, breakfast was great The location was a little sketchy but quite central which made up for it
- Androniki (7/5): Good -
- Kirill (8/5): real palazzo - welcome drinks, location in the city center, spacious apartments breakfast could be more various (no warm food)
- Barbara (10/5): Perfect for short and long staying, a great value for money and extremely friendly and professional service. - Charming palazzo in the heart of Genova’s historical centre.
Perfect location, a room full of historical character.
Super clean, great breakfast and extremely friendly and helpful staff- a special shout out to Ilaria who welcomed us with warmth and was very helpful. Highly recommended, we will be back!
- Martina (7/5): Good - Bathroom outside the room
- Emily (10/5): Very beautiful room with exceptionally hospitable staff!!! - We were just there 1 night passing through. The location seemed central though we didn’t have time to explore. We enjoyed resting in the room. The room was beautiful and spacious, as was the bathroom. The employees were exceptionally hospitable! We slept in and missed breakfast of which I was sorely disappointed because it sounded amazing! The stairs gave us a good workout. For anyone who struggles with stairs, our room on the 3rd floor would be tough.
- Diana (5/5): Passable -
- Couple (8/5): Very good - Historic building in old town. Very impressive.Breakfast basic. But good coffee. Staff really nice. Air con was great. Clean. No lift. Probably not unusual in the old town. We were on the 4 floor. A lot of stairs with heavy suitcases.
- Filippo (8/5): Very good -
- Orkhan (8/5): Very good - Had to go upstairs without elevator with a big luggage. Room was on the top floor, died till I get there
- Marilyn (8/5): Very good - Very helpful and friendly staff. Good breakfast.
- Enkhbayar (7/5): Good - Nice room, good breakfast and great location The bathroom has some yellow stains and the ceiling of the bedroom had some stains
- Armando (10/5): Very reasonable price - Excellent location and cleanliness, Chiara was very helpful .Aircondition is working perfectly and the small fridge inside the wardrobe. No lift but majority of the accomodation around the area doesn’t have because most of the accomodation was an old buildings . Otherwise this is a good value if your staying in Genova because it is in the center and very near to supermarkets, Mcdonalds and tourist attractions.
- Maija (8/5): Very good -
- Youjen (7/5): Good - Quick-responded staff Locks should be repaired, we had problem opening the doors.
- Michael (7/5): The palace was special because it was a regular residential property where Edoardo apparently owned - The breakfast wAS ok. There was selfservice It was a very old building with no facilities
- Vasiloaia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anthony (9/5): Beautiful stay in Genoa - The staff were amazing, the lady operating the hotel came rushing to let us in as we arrived two hours earlier than we had said we would, she didn’t have to.
The facilities were amazing, such a charming old building with beautiful decor in all of the rooms. The rooms themselves were spacious and had lovely opening windows looking out into the street. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was spacious and comfortable.
- Sharon (9/5): Superb - The location was handy Nothing.
Maybe a washing machine needed in the bathroom near the kitchen would be good
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional - Historic atmosphere
very good location for exploring the old town
- Artem (9/5): Superb - Amazing room with ancient books and photo albums! Check the location, Genova is a port, so you might expect the existence of port girls but maybe not on the street where your hotel is :) but we actually we fine about it
- Ainara (7/5): Nice building, location not great and bad breakfast - Nice building and very authentic decoration. Area is not great. Although it’s in the centre it feels quite dangerous at night and not safe.
The breakfast is really cheap and bad. They buy all Carrefour budget products and leave them for you to take as self service. The ham and cheese and yogurts in the fridge still in the Carrefour package and they only have one type of cereals and one type of biscuits but in a lot of containers. No fresh fruit at all or any healthy options. Seems like a very cheap breakfast
- Ecem (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alma (7/5): Good -
- Stephanie (8/5): Very good -
- Donna (8/5): Very good -
- Elaine (8/5): Charming once we got over the shock of the stairs! - The old warm charm. No elevator and we were in 4th floor—too much for senior ladies. But staff was very helpful.
- Aline (8/5): Very good -
- Sean (7/5): Good -
- Debra (10/5): Incredible! - This was an exceptional stay. The breakfast offerings were many and varied choices for everyone. Hostess was lovely and yes exceptional. She very kindly called us a taxi and went with us to meet it!
- Anette (6/5): Pleasant - It was a nice rom and a clean bathroom. That it not mentioned the amonunt of stairs to the room in the bookning information.
That the property lies at the hooker street didn’t mentioned Witherspoon.
- Elene (9/5): Enjoyed our stay, wonderful ambiance of the place and flavor of the historic part of Genova. - Great location, just two minutes walk from historic via Garibaldi. Very cosy room and amiable atmosphere. We were greeted by friendly Ciara. Since we happened to be the only guests, had both bedroom and dining room just for ourselves - additional bonus:) Would have been nice to have unsweetened yogurt and some raw veggies for the breakfast. Rather “wired” neighborhood from the hotel towards via Quattro Cardi. More precise instructions on how to reach the place avoiding this segment would have been welcome. We figured this eventually. Otherwise very safe area
- Andrea (10/5): A delight, an unexpected treasure. - I was very lucky and had the beautiful room adjacent to the breakfast area, so a real sense of comfort.
Ilaria is exceptional, a total delight, superkind, welcoming, bright and very helpful, I really enjoyed chatting with her, and she made me feel completely at home. She recommended an excellent restaurant for that evening, one of my best meals in Italy.
The location is excellent if you know how to look after yourself - probably best not to arrive in the dark - and extremely interesting. But I can appreciate it might feel uncomfortable for some people, as it's right in the heart of the old town. I look forward to going back, so many little passageways to explore, an absolute rabbit warren Not being able to find the hotel in the first place - the sign is a bit 'discrete'! But once found, it all became very clear.
The stairs are steep, and marble.
- Debs2022 (9/5): Superb -
- Dóra (8/5): Very good - Good location, friendly staff, very good coffee The cleaniness of the bathroom - the shower curtain and the tiles are discolored. The bed feels like a water bed, once one starts to move the whole bed is moving.
- Cborborema (6/5): Friendly staff. Breakfast ok. However, I was expecting more. - Staff was friendly and helped us to get to the hotel since it is super hard to identify its location/door. Location is weird. There are several prostitute around the hotel and people stare at you.
In addition, room had weird smell. Shower curtain was curtly with stains and it was old.
If you have any mobility problems, it might be hard for you to take the stairs with a suitcase.
- Houssam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (8/5): Very good - Central to historic area
Hostess was very friendly and helpful
- Julian (6/5): Not an ideal place to stay - The room was clean, tidy and plenty of space to move around. The lady who greeted us was very nice and helpful. The room was on the 5th floor which was 105 steps to reach. It was also on a very risky street as it was the heart of the red light district with many girls and pimps.
- Jolanta (8/5): Beauty of inside compensate ugliness of outside - Breakfast in beautiful space
Tables beautifully with care prepared
Breed choice of food and drinks
Clean Difficult to find
Location in less beautiful part of old city
Dark narrow street
Lots of prostitutes
- Stephen (8/5): Great place for overnight before cruise. - Friendly old Italian building with breakfast . Located in old town .
Friendly staff. No lift. Needed to walk 4 minutes from taxi drop off.
- Kim (1/5): DID NOT STAY. The reservation was cancelled after I texted booking, com > Forced to find a diff hotel - I DID NOT GET INTO THE PLACE> IT WAS LOCKED WHEN I ARRIVED. NO ONE WAS THERE. BAD AREA BAD AREA AT DUSK. FELT UNSAFE. HOTEL LOCKED. NOONE ANSWERED DOOR BELL> NO PHONE SERVICE AS I NEED wifi
- Santo (10/5): Exceptional - Room was outstanding Very hard to find.
No lift.
- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brigitte (10/5): Exceptional - kindness, organisation, great breakfast, quiet and calm in a very beautiful place.
- Richard (4/5): Many better places to stay in Genoa - Nice room but shower curtain useless - leaks all over bathroom floor Very confusing red & black house numbers which duplicate - not well explained.
Several flights of stairs - we should have been warned.
Broken door frame - our room did not feel secure at all !!
Narrow dark alleyway frequented by tarts
- Camille (10/5): Exceptional -
- Justin (9/5): Superb -
- Nicola (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sam (8/5): Very good - Lovely staff and breakfast which included gluten free options, great comfortable room Lots of stairs with no lift, we've got heavy bags so was a struggle lifting them up
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gerald (9/5): Superb -
- Andreas (8/5): Very good -
- Nikita (7/5): Good - Perfect location, nice and gentle staff, historic interiors The bathroom was located separately from the room on the same floor
- Joanna (7/5): Good -
- David (9/5): Perfect location, a must booking! - Very Genovesean decor, well decorative facilities and warm staff. The breakfast was could use some TLC
- Nicolas (7/5): Would recommand for a couple nights in Genoa. - Great location next to the historic district. Bathroom was private but separate from room. Towels were only changed once in 7 nights.
- Kate (5/5): Passable - The room was very clean and well air conditioned, and the woman who runs the B&B is very kind and accommodating:) While the location of the B&B is very central, the specific street it is on is very unpleasant - narrow, dirty and feels unsafe to walk on.
- Sean (8/5): Very good -
- Acar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bianca (9/5): the staff and room were amazing, however the location is a little shady for young female travellers -
- Karl-peter (6/5): Big room but many steps. - The size of the family room was great. The location in narroow alleys close to the harbour and many of the sights was good. Breakfast could be better. It was exhousting to curry havy bags so many steps up and down.
- Justina (4/5): Disappointing - Looks authentic Area is horrible… I would not recommend it especially for women traveling alone. It’s in the street of prostitution… A lot of dangerous-looking dodgy guys around.
Not very clean, everything is old…. looks good at first but nah, bad value for money.
And do not book if you arrive late at night. Its very difficult to find an appartment and looking for it is not enjoyable…
- Oleg (6/5): Pleasant -
- Christoph (9/5): Superb -
- Lotta (6/5): The accommodation is not suitable for families with children. - Nice accommodation but without lift. Good breakfast and friendly staff. The accommodation was centrally located in a small and narrow alley. In the alley there was some questionable sales. The accommodation did not have an elevator.
- Mátyás (10/5): I can recommend it:) - It was comfortable and roomy for the price
- Laura (8/5): Very good - Room was comfortable. They served good breakfast. A/C was an added plus. Central location. Neighborhood felt a bit unsafe, women working in the streets adden an uncomfortable feeling (but we new this from previous guests feedback)
- Nia (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice place with the coolest staff 💗
- Ay (10/5): Exceptional - The woman we greeted us was charming and efficient. We loved the charm and history of the building.
- Daniela (8/5): Very good - The doors are old and harder to close, the walls are thin and you can hear the neighbors and there is no elevator.
