Guest Reviews
- Agata (10/5): - Our stay at Godaland Guesthouse was a wonderful surprise. If you’re looking for a place that feels like home, you’ve found the right spot. The rooms are very cozy, the bathroom is clean, and there are plenty of complimentary breakfast items. Just keep in mind that there’s no option to cook your own meals here.
- Brandi (10/5): - The property was really Home like. Great host. And very welcoming. The kitchen supplied everything you needed and the area to sit was incredible. Nice and peaceful and definitely would come back. This hotel doesn’t get the credit that it should. It was perfect.
- HARSHAD (10/5): - Wonderful property to stay. We got to stay in one of the glamping tents. Great experience!!
- Anders (10/5): - Love the cozy living at this amazing country hotel! Staff is great and very much a “home” feeling living there!
- Baojun (8/5): - friendly host, but could improve on renovation.
- Ian (10/5): - Super friendly! Super clean! Relaxed and felt like family. Wonderful staying at a place where the owner is so committed and dedicated.
- Paul (10/5): Glamping for the first time. - Outstanding stay in the yurt. First glamping experience. Stayed warm with the space heater, didn’t feel claustrophobic or small - very comfortable.
- Emily (10/5): - Perfect location if you want to visit the south coast of Iceland. The owners are lovely people. It’s definitely glamping but the tents are really nice, well-heated (heater heated blankets) and the kitchen & shower facilities in the main building are great. All of our tent neighbors were amazing too.
- Stefan (6/5): - This was an average stay at a guest house. Nothing Terrible about it, but nothing excellent either. The guesthouse configuration is a bit strange too. Its almost setup like a community center. The kitchen which you have access to to cook is a commercial sized kitchen and the dining hall is more like an auditorium that is also clearly used for different activities (it had a large projection screen and speakers set up when we were there). Our room was a little dusty under the beds but the shared bathrooms were fine. My biggest complaint is that for a 4 person room it was almost $400 US with taxes. Comparing other loging in Iceland and the aesthetics, configuration and location of this guesthouse it was a poor value. Its not particularly close to anything and for us was a stop off between Höfn and Reykjavik. It should have been in the $250 range in my opinion if not less.
- Michèle (10/5): - very nice accommodation with everything you need.they have open for us in wintertime thank s a lot for this. friendly professional hosts, artist,
we are happy to recommend this place at any time.
- Marlo (10/5): - Great staff, great location
- Anne (6/5): - Paperwalls
- Siao (6/5): - Property was OK. Can be a little cleaner.
- Bill (10/5): - Enjoyed our brief stay - staff was courteous and friendly. The location provided easy access to several sites we wanted to visit.
- Dannielle (10/5): - What a whirlwind our trip turned out to be! We originally did not have reservations for the Godaland Guesthouse as we embarked on our adventure in Southern Iceland.
Originally we had hotel reservations in Hella that were booked months in advance and cancelled the day we were supposed to check in. (Not to mention we found out as we were coming off a very dusty 5 mile hike) Expedia helped us find new accommodations and the Godaland Guesthouse was the only one available to take my group of 6 at the last second.
While glamping was most definitely not on our itinerary or the most ideal situation at the time, we ended up enjoying our time spent there! The owners of the guesthouse were incredibly kind and welcoming which really helped the whole situation. The beds were comfortable and the experience was nice. Plus there was a community fridge we could put personal items in and they had many fun lawn games to take advantage of.
As a word of warning to those considering, the shower situation is semi-private. (It's Europe so let's not act too shocked here) This was only a surprise since we weren't quite prepared for it but we made it work! We would also recommend bringing an eye mask to wear to bed as the sun shines through the tent fabric when it rises. (But it also doesn't really get dark in the summer so it came in handy)
Overall we would most definitely return to the Godaland Guesthouse and are very thankful to have had the accommodations!
- Brian (10/5): - Our family had fun staying in the tents. They were very comfortable and well maintained. Heaters and electric blankets were in the tents to keep you warm.
- Tae un (10/5): - Good friend
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice location and easy to find. Saved us from the cold.
The owners were super friendly and gave us lots of advice about the local area and weather conditions.
Highly recommended!
- Alberto (8/5): Tranquilo y acogedor - Sitio tranquilo, la experiencia deoende bastante del resto de huéspedes, ya que baños y cocina son compartidos.
- Elin Strand (8/5): Ok - Ok place to spend the night. Very cheap.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Off a quiet road. Plenty of communal space. Cooking facilities. Clean, comfortable room. Good price.
- CHAD (10/5): Beautiful down to earth setting. - We were on a 4 day trip layover from USA to Spain and this location was our best stay.
The owner was friendly and accommodation were grand. You get the real Iceland experience. Our kids ran around by the stream, played in the fields and had a great soccer game in the field.
The scenery is great and it's an old school converted to a hostel style guesthouse which hosts family reunions. Close to a bunch of places to hike.
Thanks again! Chad from Oregon
- Lisa (8/5): - A bit tired looking but room clean and warm. Comfortable bed. Very flexible, welcoming staff and one of the very few places in Iceland that allowed me to stay with dog in tow. Enjoyed my overnight stay.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - We got to the facility just as it got dark. We pulled into an empty parking lot, messaged the property on the Expedia app, but no answer. We went to the door of the seemingly empty building. On a door it said to call this number provided. We called, they told us that we were at the wrong place and to head across the street. I knew this was the right place because the name was different than across the street, and the pictures were of this building. We go across the street, no luck. We call the number back, we are then told to drive some where else, no idea where we are. We drive around, get a call back from that number telling us to go back to the original building. We go there, a man meets us and is just as confused as we are. He said that it should be open, and that he would go get the key and be back in 15 minutes. He comes back, then tells us to follow him in car to another building just down the road. We get to this other empty, locked building. Another man meets us there, let's us in and explains the room we are staying in. He then started looking at the price of that room, but I showed him that we already paid for the other guesthouse. We were all confused on where we were supposed to stay, and he was just as confused. I am not sure where the mix up was, but it was a long night of running around. The building we stayed in was beautiful and well-kept but it was not Godaland Guesthouse that we booked
- Gabrielle (6/5): Clean but customer service so-so - Normally I am not too picky with hotels - so long as they are clean, comfy and cheap, I am satisfied. This guesthouse was all of the above. However, because I was the first person via Hotels.com to book with them, they were adamant that my booking did not exist because they did not use this service. This was done over the phone because a person is not at the guesthouse (you call when you arrive). Obviously I doubt this would happen again to another, but the overall experience of arguing over weather or not my booking existed soured my original experience.
- Dave (10/5): Great location in south of Iceland, stay again! - Great location, very clean, great shower and bathroom facilities, made to order breakfast
